Dynamite Date: December 14, 2022 Location: Curtis Culwell Center, Garland, Texas Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Taz It’s time for Winter Is Coming and in this case that means a pair of big matches. First up, we have the battle for the World Title and the Dynamite Diamond Ring with Ricky Starks challenging MJF. Other than that, it’s the fourth match in the best of seven series between the Elite and the Death Triangle. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Elite vs. Death Triangle Match #4 in a Best Of 7 series with Death Triangle up 2-1 and Don Callis on commentary. Matt and Penta start things off with neither being able to get the better of things. Instead everything breaks down and the Elite hits a bunch of dives to take over. We settle back down to Omega working on Pac’s arm as Nick Jackson seems to have hurt his ankle on a dive. With the actual tag match going on again, Fenix takes over on Matt as Nick is taken to the back. We take a break and come back with Matt beating ..
Dynamite Date: December 7, 2022 Location: H-E-B Center, Cedar Park, Texas Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Taz, Excalibur It’s the go home show for Final Battle and the Dynamite before next week’s Winter Is Coming so it is time to start hammering home the build for both shows. Believe it or not we have a battle royal this week for a shot at MJF’s….ring, rather than the World Title. That should get a lot of people on the show so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Battle Royal Ricky Starks, Brian Cage, Jungle Boy, Orange Cassidy, Shawn Dean, Dustin Rhodes, Lee Moriarty, Ethan Page, Matt Hardy, Kip Sabian, Dalton Castle, Butcher, Blade The winner gets to face MJF for the Dynamite Diamond whenever they decide. Sabian and Cassidy take turns ramming each other into the corner until the Butcher breaks it up. Cassidy is sent over the top so he tries to skin the cat, only to have Blade knock him out. Rhodes (hometown boy) hits a Canadian Destroyer on Sabian and clotheslines him out. Butcher c..
Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net, starting today. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? NXT Takeover: R-Evolution Date: December 11, 2014 Location: Full Sail University, Winter Park, Florida Attendance: 400 Commentators: Rich Brennan, Alex Riley, Corey Graves This should be a big one as we have a huge showdown in the main event for the NXT Title with Sami Zayn getting his rematch against champion Adrian Neville after a screwy finish to their last match. Other than that we have the long awaited debut of Kevin Owens and Hideo Itami teaming with Finn Balor to face the Ascension. Let’s get t..
Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. NXT Takeover: Fatal Fourway Date: September 11, 2014 Location: Full Sail University, Winter Park, Florida Attendance: 400 Commentators: Tom Phillips, Byron Saxton, Renee Young The question here is can they pull it off three times in a row. Arrival and the first Takeover were both outstanding shows that have set quite the standard for NXT, but now it’s up to them to pull it off one more time. The title tells you all you need to know about the main event with NXT Champion Adrian Neville defending against Sami Zayn, ..
That would be a different kind of reunion. WWE has a lot of resources available to it but one of the most important is NXT. The company’s own in-house developmental territory allows it to build up stars as it sees fit, which makes things a lot less complicated. Now though, WWE might be making a change to how the developmental territory is set up, or at least where it is set up. According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE is considering bringing back NXT to Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. According to Wrestlinginc.com, one of the reasons for the move was due to the Coronavirus pandemic leaving no students on campus to help put together the production. NXT was produced from the school from 2012-2020, when it was moved to the Capitol Wrestling Center. The two sides split amicably, with a future relationship always a possibility. Opinion: This is certainly something that could work, as Full Sail is a bigger venue and something that can offer a better atmosphere than the Capito..
Monday Night Raw Date: February 7, 2022 Location: Ball Arena, Denver, Colorado Commentators: Jim Smith, Byron Saxton, Corey Graves We have less than two weeks to go before Elimination Chamber and a lot of the big matches are set. Since this is Raw, we have two Elimination Chamber matches set up, plus Becky Lynch vs. Lita, as Smackdown doesn’t seem all that important this month. Tonight is a special show since we are on SyFy due to the Winter Olympics, so we have NO COMMERCIALS in the first hour. I’m thrilled too. Let’s get to it. We open big with the final round of the Academic Challenge between RKBro and the Alpha Academy. This time around, it’s a Quiz Bowl competition and after looking at the spelling bee/scooter race being split, we’re ready to go. Chad Gable explains the rules: it’s one point per question and if you get it wrong, the other team gets to steal. One point per answer, first to give points wins. Alpha Academy gets the history question (who was the first President wit..
Mark your calendars. WWE has a lot of television content to film and that can make things a bit hectic at times. Some of their shows are the biggest in wrestling and it makes sense that they will take priority over others. Sometimes though there are bigger forces at work that have to be catered to, and that is going to be the case with WWE’s biggest show for a little while. According to PWInsider.com, two weeks of Monday Night Raw and NXT will be moved from the USA Network to SyFy. The February 7 and February 14 Monday Night Raw and February 8 and February 15 NXT will be moved due to USA’s coverage of the Winter Olympics. The moves will only be for those two weeks, with both shows being back on USA starting on February 21. Opinion: This is the kind of thing that is going to happen at some point and that is not a bad thing. WWE gets a lot of benefits out of their relationship with NBC and sometimes they have to give something up in exchange. Just advertise things as much as you can so..
Dynamite Date: December 15, 2021 Location: Curtis Culwell Center, Garland, Texas Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Taz It’s Winter Is Coming and this time there is a huge main event, as Hangman Page defends the World Title against Bryan Danielson. Other than that, we have the Dynamite Diamond match between MJF and Dante Martin, which seems primed for some interference. Odds are we’re getting some debuts tonight as well so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. AEW World Title: Bryan Danielson vs. Hangman Page Danielson is challenging as we’re starting fast. Feeling out process to start with Page not being able to get very far, allowing Danielson to snap off some jumping jacks. Page’s wristlock is broken up with a bunch of flips and Page is frustrated in the corner. Back up and Bryan avoids some chops, allowing more corner jumping jacks. The grappling doesn’t work so well but Page gets in a boot to the chest and NOW Danielson gets more serious. Page isn’t stupid enough to take a h..
It might be a bit. There have been all kinds of WWE departures over the course of the last year or two and some of them have been a bit more surprising than others. Some wrestlers have been released while others have walked away on their own. Two more of the latter took place this week, and it might be a little while before you see either of them show up anywhere again. Earlier this week, both Kyle O’Reilly and Johnny Gargano left WWE after their contracts expired. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the current theory in WWE is that the two of them are taking time off from wrestling at the moment, though they both could appear on any show they want at any time. This includes AEW Winter Is Coming later in the week, if the two sides can come to terms. Gargano has reportedly been offered a new WWE deal that is better than his most recent contract. It is not clear what kind of deal O’Reilly has been offered. There is a lot of talent between them. Check out the two in action: [This p..
The Cowboy vs. The Dragon. Prior to tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Tony Khan announced that “Hangman” Adam Page will be defending the AEW World Championship against the “American Dragon” Bryan Danielson at the upcoming Winter Is Coming event. This special edition of Dynamite will take place on Wednesday, December 15 of this year. You can see the tweet from Khan below: It’s Wednesday, you know what that means: #AEWDynamite coming up @ 8pm ET/7pm CT/6pm MT/5pm PT TONIGHT LIVE on @TNTdrama! Ahead of tonight’s show, NOW it’s official 12/15 in Dallas, #WinterIsComing Dynamite: Hangman @theAdamPage vs @bryandanielson for the @AEW World Championship! pic.twitter.com/ubvbdQamwq — Tony Khan (@TonyKhan) December 2, 2021 Danielson earned the right to challenge for the championship by winning the recent AEW Eliminator Tournament at the recent Full Gear pay-per-view. The “American Dragon” has developed a new persona as of late, turning heel and targeting members of the Dark Order. He defea..
Dynamite Date: December 1, 2021 Location: Gas South Arena, Duluth, Georgia Commentators: Hangman Page, Tony Schiavone, Excalibur We’re two weeks away from Winter Is Coming and that could be a heck of a big night. You can probably guess some of the card from here and that means AEW has a path to take on the way to the show. Other than that, we have a street fight this week as Cody Rhodes faces Andrade El Idolo. Let’s get to it. Jim Ross isn’t here tonight so Hangman Page is filling in. In two weeks: Page vs. Bryan Danielson for the World Title. Bryan Danielson vs. Alan Angels Danielson wastes no time in starting with the kicks as Angels is in trouble early. The fans are behind Angels and Danielson throws in a Hulk Hogan hand to the ear to turn up the anger another notch. The kicks and chops in the corner make it even worse, followed by the running corner dropkick. Angels fights back but gets pulled into a cross armbreaker. That’s broken up so Angels sends him outside for a pair of d..
Make sure to get your stuff. The last year and a half has been a heck of a ride for WWE television. The start of the Coronavirus pandemic caused the promotion to be stuck in Florida for well over a year, with the television shows being filmed in various locations called the Thunderdome. WWE had previous longstanding locations as well, but now one of them is off the list. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE’s relationship with Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida has come to an end. Instead of taping NXT television from the venue, WWE will instead be upgrading the Performance Center and running the show from there. WWE is considering adding new lighting and color to the Performance Center to make it stand out more. NXT first aired at Full Sail in March 2012 and stayed at the facility until October 2020. The place was special. Check out some of NXT’s time at Full Sail University: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to pl..

NXT Date: July 8, 2020 Location: Full Sail University, Winter Park, Florida Commentators: Mauro Ranallo, Tom Phillips, Beth Phoenix We wrap up the Great American Bash tonight with the second of two shows. This time around it’s a big one, as NXT Champion Adam Cole faces North American Champion Keith Lee in a title for title match. That could go either way and may be the biggest match NXT TV has ever seen. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Candice LeRae vs. Mia Yim Street fight and Mia jumps her from behind during ..
205 Live Date: May 21, 2021 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Winter Park, Florida Commentators: Tom Phillips, Nigel McGuinness Believe it or not, 205 Liv is kind of on a roll here and it could be interesting to see where they take it. Above all else, they have introduced some new names into the fold and that could make all the difference in the world. Even Tony Nese and Ariya Daivari have seemed a bit more energized as of late so hopefully they can keep it up. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Asher Hale vs. Ari Sterling Sterling grabs the arm to start and blocks a snapmare attempt with a shove off for a unique counter. Hale starts working on the arm and spins him down into an armbar. Back up and Sterling hits a running shoulder but Hale kicks the leg out to put him down again. A slingshot anklescissors sends Hale into the corner though and Sterling hits a running spinwheel kick. Back up and Hale sends him outside for the moonsault off the apron and Sterling is in trouble again..
205 Live Date: May 14, 2021 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Winter Park, Florida Commentators: Tom Phillips, Nigel McGuinness Last week was quite the change of pace as we had some fresh blood around here and they actually got some big wins. It was nice to see that for a change, though odds are it does not last. There is a good chance those things are knocked right back down to normal this week, though you never can tell. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Ariya Daivari vs. Asher Hale Hale is better known as Anthony Henry. Daivari gets shoved out of the corner to start and Hale slaps on a headlock. Hale does it a second time to prove whatever point he’s going for but Daivari puts him on the middle rope instead. That means a diving headlock takeover so Daivari goes with a knee to the ribs this time instead. Back up and Hale hammers away, setting up a one footed dropkick for two. Daivari bails so Hale is right there with a running knee off the apron. They head back inside with Dai..
NXT Date: May 11, 2021 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Winter Park, Florida Commentators: Vic Joseph, Wade Barrett, Beth Phoenix It’s another double title night as we have two titles on the line. As a bonus, one of the matches, in this case Kushida defending the Cruiserweight Title against Santos Escobar, will be two out of three falls. That’s nice enough, but will it be nicer than Raquel Gonzalez defending the Women’s Title against Mercedes Martinez? Well yeah it probably will but that’s beside the point. Let’s get to it. Opening recap/preview. Karrion Kross vs. Austin Theory Non-title and Scarlett/Johnny Gargano are here. Theory is rather worried to come in but Gargano talks him into it, meaning the stalking can start fast. A clothesline doesn’t do much to Kross but his clothesline takes Theory’s head off. Kross looks annoyed at Theory and tosses him with a Doomsday Saito. Gargano offers a distraction though and Theory rakes the eyes to take things outside. A DDT on the floor..
205 Live Date: April 23, 2021 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Winter Park, Florida Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Tom Phillips It’s time for more interchangeable cruiserweight action as the same people get to have mostly the same matches as they always do around here. Hopefully the action is good, because that is about all that happens to make things interesting on this show. I wouldn’t bet on it though, as I learned not to do a long time ago. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Bollywood Boyz vs. Ariya Daivari/Tony Nese The Boyz manage to get Phillips, now with a beard, to dance a bit. Commentary points out that we’ve seen this match before. Daivari hammers away on Samir to start and sends him arm first into the buckle. A cobra clutch puts Samir down and it’s off to Nese for the quickly broken chinlock. Instead, Daivari comes back in to drop some elbows but Samir manages a tornado DDT. Nese is smart enough to break up the hot tag though and comes back in for two off a snap sup..
NXT Date: April 13, 2021 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Winter Park, Florida Commentators: Vic Joseph, Beth Phoenix, Wade Barrett We’re officially on a new night now and that means things should be getting all the more interesting. This is also coming off of Takeover: Stand & Deliver and we have quite a few changes to deal with tonight. The good thing is Raw left a pretty low bar for this show to clear. Let’s get to it. Here are Karrion Kross and Scarlett to interrupt. Kross says time comes for everyone and promised to get the title back. Finn Balor went on a tear as NXT Champion but he couldn’t control Kross and Kross controls everything. He is going to hold this title until he says otherwise because no one is going to out train or out wrestle him. It doesn’t matter what you have done before or how many zeroes are on the end of your check, because everyone pays the toll. We get a video on Takeover (which starts with Michael Cole sounding like he is talking about Wrestlemania s..
205 Live Date: March 12, 2021 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Winter Park, Florida Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Vic Joseph For once we’re coming off of a pretty strong show as last week saw good stuff in both of the show’s matches. The talent is there, but it is all about finding an interesting way to present it. This show has had a serious problem figuring it out along the way but hopefully they can start going in the right direction again. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Bollywood Boyz vs. Curt Stallion/Mansoor Ever-Rise joins commentary for a bonus. Commentary mentions Mansoor being undefeated during his entrance as it seems to be a thing. Mansoor wristlocks Sunil to start but gets reversed into a headlock for his efforts. Samir comes in and it’s a pair of leapfrogs into a double back elbow for two on Mansoor. Some double dropkicks take the Boyz down but it’s too early for the hot tag. A double suplex gets two on Mansoor and we hit the chinlock. Sunil holds Mansoor’s l..
