Becky Lynch’s Likely Heel Run: Has WWE Killed The Man Gimmick?

Becky Lynch shocked the world when she returned to WWE and became the new SmackDown Women’s champion. The return came at August 21’s SummerSlam and the title win came after Lynch disposed of Bianca Belair with just two moves. WWE fans knew that The Man would come around eventually. But they perhaps couldn’t guess that she would come back in such a controversial fashion. Now that it seems Lynch is turning heel, does this mean the company is closing the book on The Man gimmick? [This post contains video, click to play] Lynch Rages Against The Machine The idea of Lynch turning heel at this point seems more than unlikely. After all, Becky was once the hottest star in WWE and that was thanks to The Man gimmick. She was tough, she was rebellious and as a result, she was over. Fans instantly responded to her change in attitude and it worked for her on every level. The anti-authority persona schtick typically does work, depending on who runs with it. Perhaps the best example of all time i..

Jay White Leading A Bullet Club Invasion In AEW?

Jay White retained the IWGP NEVER Openweight Championship against David Finally at NJPW Resurgence. The event took place on Friday, August 13 live from The Torch at the Los Angeles Coliseum. The defacto Bullet Club leader came into the match with quite the buzz surrounding him, thanks to his recent stint in Impact Wrestling. That stint includes the addition of Chris Bey into the Bullet Club’s ranks. White is met with cheers and full crowd support despite where he goes, which is understandable. American fans admire King Switch’s work from afar and that is typically always the case. But this is about more than just Jay getting over in the United States. Is The Bullet Club gearing up for an American invasion? [This post contains video, click to play] It’s Still His Era The Switchblade is the undeniable top heel in New Japan Pro Wrestling. His devious tactics and despicable nature keep him firmly on the company’s dark side. It’s a role that firmly he embraces. No one cuts a heel promo..

WWE Changes Its 2021 Summer Pay-Per-View Schedule

Sometimes change can send you to hell. Money in the Bank is typically the pay-per-view event that we see in June, in which competitors attempt to climb a ladder and retrieve a briefcase that guarantees them a shot at a world title. However, that will not be the case this year. Tonight at the WrestleMania Backlash pay-per-view event, WWE aired a promo announcing that their next event will in fact be Hell in a Cell, which will stream exclusively on Peacock on Sunday, June 20. This was originally when Money in the Bank would have aired. Check out the promo video for the show: [This post contains video, click to play] It is unknown the reason for the change or when Money in the Bank will now be held. Editor’s Opinion: The more that I think about this, the more it makes sense. Money in the Bank is an event that needs to be held in front of fans and with the CDC updating their guidelines, this may happen sooner than we think. Plus, with the results of the main event of WrestleMania Ba..

WATCH: Edge vs. The Undertaker From WrestleMania XXIV (24)

The dead shall rise again. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel in which they show the full match between Edge and The Undertaker for the World Heavyweight Championship from WrestleMania XXIV (24). You can see the video in its entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] From WWE.com: During the contest, The Phenom delivered a relentless torrent of his signature moves, weakening his resistant rival. Edge, too, retaliated with just about every vicious hold and attack he could possibly muster. Clearly well-schooled and self-educated in the challenger’s stratagem, the Rated-R Superstar reversed key maneuvers and even kicked out of several pinfall attempts after Undertaker landed a number of typically deal-closing moves — including the Last Ride and even the Tombstone Piledriver. Following critical shifts in momentum and an attempt at his own Tombstone, the defending World Champion found some support from his Rated-R entourage. The Deadman managed to lay was..

Miro Day In AEW: What Happens Next?

Miro’s arrival in AEW, while surprising, was not wholly unexpected. The former Rusev made his debut on the September 9 edition of Dynamite, where he was revealed as the best man for Kip Sabian’s upcoming wedding with Penelope Ford. Since his departure from WWE, Miro’s pro wrestling fate was the topic of heavy speculation among fans, many of whom predicted his imminent signing with Tony Khan’s company. No one knows how long Miro will be aligned with Sabian, but it’s clear that The Bulgarian Brute is likely headed for big things in his new environment. Miro’s presence in an AEW ring was very surreal for many who watched Dynamite. But he was in great shape and he had a big smile on his face. This was not the same man who last stood in a WWE ring and was following the law of the land in Vince McMahon’s company. For many Superstars, their creative direction is stifled and they typically have very little input. That situation inevitably leads to frustration and ultimately, to separation...

WWE Has A Lot In Store For Next Week’s Monday Night Raw

It’s a busy one. With the last Monday Night Raw of 2018 in the books, it’s time to move on to the new year. That typically means a big show to kick things off, with a title match, a big return or something else that you don’t usually get. WWE likes to get things going well and the fact that it’s going up against the College Football Playoff title game might help things a bit. So what’s on tap? This week on Monday Night Raw, a host of announcements were made for next week’s show. These include appearances by Brock Lesnar and John Cena, the return of Braun Strowman, and a Tag Team Title match with the Revival challenging Chad Gable and Bobby Roode. Strowman has been out of action with a shoulder injury and Lesnar hasn’t appeared on Monday Night Raw since November. This will be Cena’s first appearance on the show since April. He’s back. Check out Strowman’s impressive 2018: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: Oh yeah I’d think they know they need to pick things up. The..

It Hasn’t Been That Long. WWE Changes Course On Royal Rumble Match.

If you can’t trust your own show, who can you trust? WWE has a lot of television shows, to the point where you might not even know all of them off the top of your head. One of the lesser known shows is Main Event, which is typically just a recap show. As it turned out though there might have been some breaking news on this week’s episode. Amazingly enough, that turned out to be premature. Just yesterday, it was reported that Asuka vs. Becky Lynch for the SmackDown Women’s Title had been confirmed for next month’s Royal Rumble on Main Event. WWE has already started walking back the news, even though it aired on its own television show. Former General Manager Paige has already announced a retraction on Twitter, acknowledging that the match was announced but saying that she didn’t have the authority to make the match anymore. Soooo I tried to make one last match before my time as #SDLive GM came to end…but unfortunately @BeckyLynchWWE vs. @WWEAsuka for the Smackdown Women’s Championship..

WWE Delivers a Bizarre ‘Survivor Series’ Event and the Crowd Goes Wild

Survivor Series 2018 will go down as perhaps one of the most bizarre events in recent WWE history. The overall tone of the night was unsettling and the characters themselves acted completely out of character. Though it is just one event in month 11 of 12, the fact is that Survivor Series may be an indication of something much bigger happening in WWE. One of the most concerning themes of Survivor Series was the amount of unpredictable crowd reaction. Many would say that if an audience brings the hype and if the energy is high, then there is nothing better for a pro wrestling event. It’s hard to argue that notion and it’s certainly more entertaining to watch the product at home when the live crowd is completely in tune with the event. But the bloodthirsty level of hype from the Survivor Series crowd was a bit unexpected. WWE fans typically have their favorites of course. Oftentimes those favorites are heels, instead of babyfaces. That’s actually commonplace in WWE and it’s likely not go..

Is Charlotte Flair the Roman Reigns of WWE’s Women’s Division?

Becky Lynch’s recent heel turn against Charlotte Flair in WWE continues to be the talk of pro wrestling fans. Many believe the turn is ill-advised and puts Lynch in a bad spot for her character. Others feel that Becky had to change at some point and at least she’s in the world title picture again. But both sides can surely agree that once again WWE is taking a very familiar direction that typically leads to nothing but confusion. Fans have seen this move many times in the past and more often than not, it just doesn’t work out. Whatever the reasoning behind the heel turn was or despite what the destination is, the fact is that Charlotte is now becoming the Roman Reigns of the women’s division. With any luck, this is not what WWE wanted. It’s impossible to know, mostly because Roman’s direction is the same today as it was when fans began hating him three years ago. The company has had ample time to alter course and do something different yet that’s not happened. Reigns continues to rece..
