Farewell? Wrestling Legend: “I’m Getting Too Old For This S***”

You have to hang it up sometime. Wrestling is a unique sport in that the wrestlers can have trouble getting out of the industry. Since they are always able to wrestle one more time, it can be easy to stick around that much longer. For other people involved in the industry, getting away is a bit easier, and now a wrestling legend sounds like he is considering wrapping up his career. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: That’s A Hot One: How A Former WWE Star (Literally) Set Backstage On Fire During a recent edition of his What Happened When podcast, AEW broadcaster Tony Schiavone talked about how Tuesdays and Wednesdays, the days he travels for AEW, “kind of wear” him out. Schiavone, 65 years old, said that he feels he is “getting too old for this s***” and said that his future is in podcasting and maybe playing video games. At no point did Schiavone say that he was retiring or considering retiring. Schiavone debuted with AEW at its launch and has provided commentary since. Schiavone is a legend. ..

Family Business: Usos Tease A Bit Of A Surprising Career Move

Maybe that’s next. WWE does not have the strongest history when it comes to tag team wrestling. The company has had some periods of focusing on tag wrestling, but it tends to go in a different way. Most of the time WWE tends to focus on one or two teams at a time and that is the case again. Now the main team is interested in trying their hands in another part of WWE. Last week on NXT, Grayson Waller interrupted a Solo Sikoa interview, which help set up the show’s tag team main event with the two of them on opposing sides. This caused the Usos, Sikoa’s brothers, to comment on the interview, suggesting that they were coming to NXT to deal with Waller in the future, though nothing has been announced. Waller responded, telling the Usos to ask Roman Reigns for permission to work on Tuesdays. The Usos did not reference the fact that Sikoa is their brother. Keep that same energy when we pull up uce…? https://t.co/EdAFvAB5yZ — The Usos (@WWEUsos) June 12, 2022 Make sure you ask Roman’s per..

WWE Ending 205 Live, Details On Replacement

It took its time. WWE has a lot of television time to fill, meaning they present all kinds of shows. Some of these are quite prominent and among the biggest shows in the history of wrestling, but some of their others just seem to merely exist. You might not even notice them being gone, and now one of those shows might be doing just that. This time though, we know what is coming in its place. According to PWInsider.com, WWE is ending 205 Live and replacing it with NXT: Level Up, which will air its first hour long episode this week. There is no word on how the show might differ in content. WWE has been teasing changes to 205 Live for several months now, with a storyline explanation of Joe Gacy saying that the show discriminates against larger wrestlers. The show has also moved away from its original premise and has waived its weight limit since late last year. 205 live debuted in 2016 and originally aired on Tuesdays following SmackDown tapings. Opinion: This is a change that is long o..

Innovative New Championship Officially Introduced

That’s a new one. There are all kinds of titles in wrestling but each one of them means something similar: whoever holds it is the best at whatever they are doing. That is the kind of concept that anyone can understand, which is why a wrestling promotion loves to have a good amount of them around. Now another promotion is introducing a new title, but it is a different kind of concept. During this week’s edition of Impact Wrestling, the company introduced the Digital Media Championship. The title will be defended across the company’s digital programming, including social media and Impact Plus. The title matches will take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays on Impact Plus, before appearing on YouTube’s Ultimate Insider videos shortly thereafter. There will be a tournament to crown the first champion, with the finals taking place at Bound For Glory on October 23. Here is a look at the brand new IMPACT Digital Media Championship! #IMPACTonAXSTV pic.twitter.com/QBhY7Ukx5s — IMPACT (@IMPACTW..

Major Update On NXT Possibly Moving To Tuesdays

Warm up the moving van? The Wednesday Night Wars have been one of the more interesting wrestling stories over the last year and a half and that is hardly a surprise. The battle between NXT and AEW Dynamite has given fans a miniature version of the drama of the Monday Night Wars, though this one has been a bit more one sided. Things are still changing and now it might be the big finale. One of the problems with the Wednesday Night Wars is having a pair of two hour shows taking place on the same night at the same time. It can make for a very long night and that is going to take away some of the impact a fan can have from watching the second show. It makes sense for one company to want to counter the other, but that may no longer be the case. According to PWInsider, NXT is still scheduled to move to Tuesday nights starting on April 13. This comes after the NHL and NBC Sports had come to an impasse regarding negotiations on a television rights package. However, the move is taking place a..

Several Potential Changes As SmackDown Live Goes To FOX

SmackDown Live is officially heading to FOX in the future. We have compiled a number of changes that WWE is expected to make for the new Network. Some of the first announcements or rumors we’ve heard in regards to FOX taking SmackDown Live is that WWE will be adding an extra hour to the show, changing the air dates from Tuesdays to Fridays. If this is to be believed, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Radio discussed how WWE may be forced to deal with the changes during WrestleMania week. This is because WrestleMania week usually includes the PPV itself, NXT: TakeOver, Raw and the Hall of Fame. Here is what Meltzer had to say: “I wonder about the idea of a SmackDown Live on a Friday before WrestleMania. I guess you could do that as the go-home show Obviously the NXT [TakeOver] will move to Saturday and the Hall Of Fame would move to Thursday or Tuesday, I’m going to guess Thursday because if it’s on Tuesday everyone’s going to go home and it will die.” This would still be a pro..

Report: WWE Reaches Deal With Fox To Air Smackdown In 2019, Worth $1 Billion, Maybe Moving To Fridays

Smackdown may have a new home next year. As reported by ESPN, Fox and WWE have reached a "massive" deal to air Smackdown. WWE has been looking for a new network to air both Smackdown and Raw and there had been talks of bringing both to NBC but according to the report NBC Universal is focused on Monday Night Raw. Even though ratings for Smackdown have been declining since the Superstar Shakeup, WWE programming is nearly always in the top five cable original shows year round on Monday and Tuesdays. The live aspect and sports related nature of Smackdown has helped support those ratings and is only pushed down the rankings by live sports playoffs. The report said the Smackdown deal is set to begin in October of 2019. In another report by The Wrap, it was said Smackdown would be broadcast on Fridays and on Fox instead of the rumored Fox Sports. That was hardly the last of the news, as The Hollywood Reporter would later report that the deal in question was a five-year agreement wor..
