RUMOR KILLER On Attempt To Bring AEW Stars Back To WWE

Not so much for that. The rise of AEW has opened up several new doors for wrestlers, as stars now have a new platform to ply their trade on a big stage. AEW has had some success so far and the question now becomes how much of that can they maintain. At the same time, there are going to be some wrestlers who want out, but it seems that one recent story wasn’t accurate. Last week, a report surfaced saying that Bobby Fish, who has left AEW, was trying to get Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly to return with him to WWE. However, according to Fightful Select, AEW sources are denying this story and there has been no contact between WWE and Fish about a possible return. Both Cole and O’Reilly are currently out of action with injuries and it is not known when they will be back. Opinion: This makes a bit more sense, as even if the three of them wanted to go back to WWE, there is a long list of issues that they would have to solve with their AEW deals in the first place. The Undisputed Era could work..

Roderick Strong Requests Release From WWE

It truly is the end of an era. According to a report from Sean Ross Sapp via Fightful, NXT superstar Roderick Strong has requested his release from the company. You can see the information in a tweet below: Roderick Strong has requested his release from WWE, per @SeanRossSapp pic.twitter.com/OpHsvL3Dp5 — B/R Wrestling (@BRWrestling) May 2, 2022 Strong has been a part of the faction Diamond Mine faction in NXT since June 22, 2021, when he returned to the company. He held the NXT Cruiserweight Championship from September 21 through January 4 of this year, where he lost to Carmelo Hayes in a title unification match of the Cruiserweight and North American Championships. Before Diamond Mine, Strong was a part of The Undisputed Era, which consisted of himself, Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, and Bobby Fish. After the group disbanded, Cole, O’Reilly, and Bobby Fish would sign with AEW. We will continue to monitor this story and provide any updates provided to us. Editor’s Opinion: Does this..

Pat McAfee To Wrestle At WrestleMania 38

Now that’s a SHAHT AHT! During his first live interview in 15 years on today’s episode of “The Pat McAfee Show,” Vince McMahon invited the host to compete at WrestleMania 38. The invitation was extended due to the former NFL player and Smackdown commentator’s tremendous connection to the WWE Universe. You can see the announcement below: [This post contains video, click to play] McAfee last competed in a WWE ring at NXT Takeover: WarGames 2020. McAfee, along with Pete Dunne, Oney Lorcan, and Danny Burch defeated The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, Kyle O’Reilly, and Bobby Fish). It is unknown at this time who his opponent will be. Editor’s Opinion: YES! This is awesome! I remember thinking all during the pandemic how absolutely terrific he has been at everything that he has done in WWE. Not only has become the best commentator in the company on Smackdown, but his in-ring work was fantastic and he has earned the right to compete at the Showcase of the Immortals. I have..

Kyle O’Reilly Is Officially A Free Agent

Add another one to the list. According to a report from PWInsider, Kyle O’Reilly has not-resigned with WWE and has officially become a free agent. Both he and Johnny Gargano have been removed from the company’s internal roster. This news comes after Gargano became a free agent the day before. He is currently free to work anywhere he wants to since there was no non-compete attached to his contract. O’Reilly has had quite a career in NXT. He was a three-time WWE NXT tag team champion, and also won the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic in 2018 with Adam Cole. The pair, along with Bobby Fish and Roderick Strong, was known as the Undisputed Era and was one of the most successful factions in NXT history. However, Cole and O’Reilly had an intense rivalry throughout most of 2021, which led to a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match at NXT Takeover: 36. You can see the final war of words below: [This post contains video, click to play] Editor’s Opinion: This isn’t surprising to me at all. With Bobby Fish a..

Bad News On Pat McAfee’s NXT Future

It was nice while it lasted. Every now and then you find a person who takes to wrestling like an absolute natural. With no time or experience, they are suddenly leaps and bounds ahead of everyone else and it can be fascinating to see just how good they are. Wrestling promotions notice this as well and often move them up in a hurry, which seems to be the case again today. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, SmackDown broadcaster Pat McAfee is likely done with NXT in any way. McAfee has made appearances in NXT as a manager and occasional wrestler, including in WarGames 2020 against the Undisputed Era. Following his team’s loss at WarGames, McAfee did not appear in WWE again until debuting as a SmackDown broadcaster on April 16. McAfee really is one of the most natural talents you will see in wrestling. Check out what he did in NXT: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is kin..

VIDEO: New Stable Debuts In NXT With Surprising Return

Welcome back/nice to meet you. Sometimes a wrestler needs a fresh coat of paint and it can be rather easy to put them together with someone else. You can do this in the form of a tag team, but other times, one of the best ideas available is for a few people to be put together into a unit. That seems to be the case again on NXT, as some people have formed a new group. This week’s NXT saw the debut of the Diamond Mine, a stable which had been teased for several weeks. The Diamond Mine debuted at the end of the show, with the three members attacking Kushida following the show’s main event. With Kushida laid out, the group revealed itself as Roderick Strong, Tyler Rust and Hideki Suzuki, the latter of whom was making his NXT debut. Malcolm Bivens was revealed as the team’s manager and handed Strong the Cruiserweight Title. Strong has been absent from NXT since April 13 when he took a hiatus after the Undisputed Era came to an end. When Strong left, General Manager William Regal said that..

VIDEO: Surprise Return Takes Place During NXT

Welcome home! NXT has come a long way in a very short amount of time. Over the hast few years, the promotion has gone from little more than filler programming on WWE.com to one of the biggest wrestling shows of the week. The show airs in prime time on the same network as Monday Night Raw, so a big moment on the show means a lot to the fans. That is the case again this week. Bobby Fish made his return to NXT television this week, saving Kyle O’Reilly from a double team attack by Pete Dunne and Oney Lorcan. After O’Reilly and Fish cleared the ring, the two agreed to go their own ways as they both had their own scores to settle. The two were on good terms though and showed respect to each other. This was Fish’s first appearance since TakeOver: WarGames in November. Fish and O’Reilly were part of the Undisputed Era from 2017-2021 and won the NXT Tag Team Titles multiple times as part of the team. During his absence, the Undisputed Era split up, with Fish not being present for the split. ..

Longtime NXT Star Walks Officially Resigns

So long? NXT is about as unique of a wrestling promotion as you can find these days, as it serves not only as the official developmental territory for WWE but also as its third brand. That puts it in a strange place, as there are some wrestlers who become stars there but are instantly called up to the main roster. At the same time, you have some wrestlers who seem to be NXT lifers for one reason or another. This week, one of those names seemed to wrap up his time in the promotion. The Undisputed Era was the most dominant stable that NXT has ever seen. At one point, the company held every title they could in the promotion and completely controlled everything NXT had to offer. It saw all four members as some of the top stars NXT had ever seen, but now the team has been completely wiped out. With the team gone, we seem to have lost a wrestler. During this week’s edition of NXT, Roderick Strong, accompanied by his wife Marina Shafir, submitted his resignation to General Manager William R..

WATCH: Angry Showdown Takes Place After NXT

It’s not done yet. A title match is the easiest thing in the world to book in wrestling. You have a champion and then you have someone who wants to be champion. A match between the two is booked and you have almost everything you need. Once the match is set, all you have to do is let the people yell at or fight each other and the build is done. That is where NXT shines and they did the short form version this week. The biggest story in NXT at the moment is the split of the Undisputed Era, as Adam Cole turned on the team at Takeover: Vengeance Day and then completed the split in the ensuing weeks. NXT Champion Finn Balor has been brought into the feud as well, with the title being one of the main ways to get Cole’s attention. A title match between Balor and Cole has been set for next week’s show and the two were pushing it hard after this week’s episode ended. It was pretty intense. Check out what happened after NXT went off the air: [This post contains video, click to play] WWE ha..

Future Plans For Undisputed Era Could Include Huge Changes

They have themselves a plan. NXT has a lot of very talented people and that should not be the biggest surprise. WWE brings almost every signing they make to NXT, turning it into some kind of independents all star team, which means there are a lot of stars vying for only a few spots. Some of those spots are taken by a rather talented group of people but that group might be going in a different direction. Starting back in August 2017, the Undisputed Era became one of the most dominant factions in the history of NXT. The team started off as a trio before adding Roderick Strong to become the four man group that they are to this day. At one point the team held all of the men’s gold in NXT, though they have since lost all of their championships. That would seem to suggest the end of the team, and that may actually be the case. According to PWInsider.com, both Kyle O’Reilly and Adam Cole are being shifted into face roles after spending their runs with the Undisputed Era as heels. At the mom..

NXT Wrestler Missing Time Due To Knee Injury

Another reason. One of the bigger stories of the week has been the Coronavirus outbreak in NXT which has seemingly left a lot of wrestlers out of action. That is the kind of thing you can only plan for to a certain extent and it has been causing problems for NXT. What matters most is keeping the wrestlers healthy, but another wrestler is missing some time for another reason. This week’s NXT featured a rather interesting match with Danny Burch/Roderick Strong teaming up to face Fabian Aichner/Raul Mendoza. The four of them are all parts of different tag teams and the winners’ teams would later face off for the #1 contendership to the Tag Team Titles. It would seem that the regular partners’ absences may have been due to the Coronavirus but that is not the case at least for one name. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Bobby Fish, Strong’s regular partner in the Undisputed Era, missed the show because of a knee injury suffered when training Brazilian ju-jitsu and kickboxing..

NXT Results – June 10, 2020

NXT Date: June 10, 2020 Location: WWE Performance Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Tom Phillips, Mauro Ranallo, Beth Phoenix We’re done with Takeover: In Your House and the only major change was Io Shirai winning the Women’s Title. Other than that, Adam Cole is still NXT Champion and needs a new challenger. Tonight he faces Dexter Lumis in a match that has me worried. Finn Balor and Keith Lee would seem to be the next big challengers so let’s get to it. Takeover recap. Here’s the Undisputed Era for a chat. Adam Cole talks about how he’s still champion because while Velveteen Dream is a great challenger, but he’s not Adam Cole bay-bay. As for what’s next, what difference does it make? The rest of the team yells about Lumis being weird and stuffing them in a trunk (Strong: “YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I HATE BEING STUFFED IN TRUNKS!”). Strong keeps thinking he seems Lumis in the crowd and Cole is tired of hearing about it. Cole has this tonight, so don’t worry about Lumis. As the team is ..

RUMOR: Adam Cole’s WWE Status As He Appears With AEW Stars

So long Bay-Bay Cole? There are a lot of talented wrestlers down in NXT and one of the biggest questions involves seeing the wrestlers move up to the main roster. That can be one of the most interesting times in all of WWE at the moment, but it doesn’t do a ton of good for NXT. What makes it even worse though is having a wrestler leave NXT without going to the main roster. That could be a possibility at the moment. Over nearly the last three years, the Undisputed Era has been a force in NXT. The team has reached some incredible success, including a stretch where the group held all of the men’s titles in NXT, putting them in the same conversation as the Four Horsemen and Evolution. Adam Cole has always been the centerpiece of the team, but that might not be the case much longer. According to Wrestlingnews.co, Adam Cole’s current WWE contract is up in August or September and he may be interested in going to AEW. Cole’s girlfriend Britt Baker works for AEW and there is a chance that he ..

Adam Cole Reaches Impressive Milestone

That’s a milestone. NXT has gone from the WWE minor league to one of the biggest and more important promotions in the world. They have produced some of the most important stars around today with their Takeover series being nothing short of revered. As usual, NXT is built around titles, with the NXT Title being at the top of the chart. Now, that title has a new milestone. There has never been a group as dominant in NXT as the Undisputed Era. The team pulled off a very rare feat in wrestling as they held all four major men’s titles in the promotion at the same time. Adam Cole is the group’s leader and currently the only one with a title. As the reigning NXT Champion, Cole is at the top of the company and it turns out that he has reached a point no one ever has before. As on Friday, Cole has become the longest reigning NXT Champion, reaching a reign of 293 days and surpassing Finn Balor’s record of 292 days. Cole has held the title since Takeover: XXV on June 1, 2019 when he defeated Jo..

First Match Set For Takeover: Chicago II

That’s a heck of a start. With less than a month to go before Takeover: Chicago II, there isn’t actually anything on the card. You can guess what some of the matches will be just by paying attention to television, but you need something a little concrete on the card instead of matches that might take place. WWE seems to have picked up o the lack of matches and added one the day after TV instead of just announcing it on the air, but at least it’s something. As announced today on WWE.com, Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch will be challenging the Undisputed Era’s Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly. The match was set up last week with Lorcan and Burch scoring a pin in a six man tag also involving Pete Dunne, defeating the Undisputed Era, also including Adam Cole. Lorcan and Burch have been helping Dunne in his quest for revenge after Dunne turned on him at Takeover: New Orleans, costing Dunne the Tag Team Titles in the process. Who doesn’t want to see the Brits vs. Undisputed Era? Check out how ..

Tyler Breeze Returns To NXT For A House Show Match; Says He Will See The Fans Next Week

Bring all of them back. Last night during during an NXT Live event in Oklahoma City The Revival returned to their old stomping grounds of NXT to challenge the current NXT Tag Team Champions The Undisputed Era. The returns did not stop there as "Prince Pretty" Tyler Breeze made a surprise return to NXT as well at a house show in Jacksonville, FL earlier tonight. Meanwhile in #NXTJacksonville, @MmmGorgeous shocked the Florida crowd! pic.twitter.com/QC808rueqq — WWE NXT (@WWENXT) May 19, 2018 Breeze competed against NXT talent Marcel Barthel and emerged victorious in his return to the black-and-yellow brand. In his post-match promo Tyler Breeze stated that although some of the fans' favorites eventually end up going to RAW or SmackDown the majority of them started off in NXT. He closed with saying that he will see the fans next week. Main Event - @MmmGorgeous pinned @Marcel_B_WWE. Nice to see Marcel be allowed to work more than seven minutes. He’s a stud who went toe-to-toe with..

Adam Cole Talks His Friendship With Kyle O'Reilly, Bobby Fish & Roderick Strong, And Goes Over His Eventful NXT TakeOver: NOLA

Its all about The Undisputed Era. To kick-start WrestleMania weekend for the WWE there was a Ladder match to open NXT TakeOver: New Orleans to crown the first-ever NXT North American Champion. At the end of the contest the sly Adam Cole pushed the ladder that Ricochet was standing atop on, crushing the dreams of the "The One And Only". Cole climbed to the top of the ladder and pulled down the championship as the thousands in attendance inside of the Smoothie King Center went ballistic for "The Panama City Playboy." Later on in the night Adam Cole had to help his faction-mate Kyle O'Reilly defend the NXT Tag Team Championships and in a shocking turn of events, Roderick Strong pledged his allegiance to The Undisputed Era by turning on his partner in the match Pete Dunne, and handing over the NXT Tag Titles on a silver plater to Kyle O'Reilly and Adam Cole. Adam Cole was recently interviewed by Jim Varsallone of the Miami Herald where he discussed the chemistry that all involv..

Title Defenses Announced For The WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament Shows In June

Some high-profile matches other than the actual tournament. During the WWE Hall Of Fame ceremony last Friday it was revealed that a number of shows and events are soon-to-be featured on the WWE Network. One of the events that were revealed is that there will be a second WWE United Kingdom Championship tournament where the winner will earn a shot at the WWE U.K. Title which is currently held by Pete Dunne. It will be a two-night event which commences on June 18th. Other than the tournament in itself, a number of championship matches have been announced for the show. There will be a six-man tag team match between The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Roderick Strong & Kyle O'Reilly) vs. 'British Strong Style' (Pete Dunne, Tyler Bate & Trent Seven). On night two of the event Shayna Baszler will defend the NXT Women's Championship, Roderick Strong & Kyle O'Reilly will defend the NXT Tag Team Titles, and Adam Cole will defend the NXT North American Championship.
