Bryan Danielson is widely considered one of the best wrestlers in the world. There’s a lot in the air and on the rumor mill about his wrestling future, especially in AEW. Wrestling Legend Receives Very Special Award

I think he has earned it. Wrestling is a unique sport compared to its mainstream counterparts, as the accomplishments that wrestlers win are predetermined. In addition, the wrestlers are not permanent champions as they will lose any titles they win to someone else. There is very little that is seen as a true lifetime achievement but one legend has earned one of his own. As revealed on Twitter, Terry Funk has officially received the Stanley Weston Lifetime Achievement Award from Pro Wrestling Illustrated. Funk was presented with the award by his friend Manny Fernandez. Funk began wrestling in 1965 and wrestled his last match in 2017. He has been living in an assisted living facility in recent months due to having troubles with his memory. It is great to see him getting this kind of recognition, but at the same time it is sad to see what has happened..

Very Positive Update On Terry Funk’s Health

Not so fast? Like any other business, you can get some bad news in wrestling from time to time. People are going to have to deal with negative situations and some of them are a lot more serious than others. Some of the worst involve health issues and that was the case with one of the biggest legends in wrestling history this week. It just might not be as bad as it seems. Earlier this week, news began to circulate of Terry Funk being in poor health. Later in the day, Funk’s official Twitter account acknowledged the reports, saying that Funk was indeed staying in an assisted facility for both physical and mental health issues. It seemed that Funk, 77 years old, was in pretty bad shape, but then an update came in that made things seem a lot better. During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, Tommy Dreamer said that he spoke to Funk on June 30 and that Funk was better than reports suggested. Dreamer said Funk was “sharp as a tack” and spoke for forty minutes the previous week. In another ..

Terry Funk’s Interesting Take On The Gobbledy Gooker

Not everything can be a hit. There are a lot of legends in wrestling and they are going to be treated differently because of the things they have done. Someone at that level has likely been around wrestling for a long time now and it would make sense to listen to what they have to say. Everyone is going to make a mistake now and then though, and a certain legend seems to have missed on one. During the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer told a story of Terry Funk bringing up the Gobbledy Gooker in 1990. Funk said that Hector Guerrero was going to be a big star as the character, which Funk described as a chicken. The Gooker debuted at Survivor Series 1990 and only lasted a few months before being dropped. He has since made a handful of appearances as a comedy cameo. Funk might have missed on this one. Sad News Regarding Terry Funk’s Health

It’s so sad. While there are all kinds of wrestlers throughout history, you are very rarely going to find someone who is truly unique. On those rare occasions where you do find them though, it can be amazing to see just how good they are. It can make it even harder to see them fade away though, and now it seems that we might be getting close to losing one of the best ever. This week, rumors began circulating that Terry Funk has been living in an assisted living facility due to mental health issues. These stories were confirmed by a post on Funk’s official Twitter account, saying that Funk is receiving residential care for both mental and physical issues. Funk is also said to have some days that are better than others, but there is no word on any specific issues. Funk, 77 years old as of last month, began wrestling in 1965 and wrestled his most recent match in 2017. He wrestled or appeared in nearly every major wrestling promotion over the course of his career, including winning World..

Former WWE Star Announces Surprise Retirement

Maybe this time? Retirements in wrestling are a weird situation, as you never can tell when someone is going to actually be gone. Terry Funk made a career out of retirements, with his first retirement taking place in the early 1980s and spanning into the 2000s. Some wrestlers just cannot get out, but another one seems to be ready to hang it up for good. Again. Lio Rush has announced his retirement from wrestling via Twitter and Instagram. Rush said that it is time for him to move on, citing an injury that he suffered during an appearance at AEW’s Double Or Nothing last month. During the appearance, Rush suffered a separated AC joint in his shoulder, which will need time off to heal. As a result, Rush has decided to retire, while thanking everyone for giving him a chance. Once he is healed, he will make appearances for New Japan Pro Wrestling, where he is signed, to meet contractual obligations. Rush, 26 years old, debuted in November 2014 and wrestled around the world, including in N..

Former WWE Star Comes Out Of Retirement To Join Impact Wrestling

Already? Wrestling retirements are a funny thing as they have a tendency to not stick. Terry Funk’s first retirement match took place in 1983 and his most recent match took place in 2017, with Funk working around the wrestling world since then. It is very rare to see someone actually stay retired in wrestling and this time around, someone did not wait long before changing their mind. Bringing a wrestler out of retirement is not the world thing that can be done, as it can be fascinating to see if someone still has it after their time away from the ring. This is a tricky balance to find though, as someone being gone for a long time can make them a shell of their former self, but if someone has not been gone very long in the first place, the comeback does not matter all that much. There is another comeback taking place, and the name may surprise you. During this week’s Impact Wrestling, former WWE, ECW and NWA star Jazz was unveiled as Jordynne Grace’s tag team partner in the Impact Wre..
