Monday Night Raw Results – January 2, 2023
Monday Night Raw Date: January 2, 2023 Location: Bridgestone Arena, Nashville, Tennessee Commentators: Kevin Patrick, Corey Graves We are inching closer to the Royal Rumble and that means it is time to start setting up the show. With so many wrestlers needed to get into the Royal Rumble matches, there are only going to be so many spots left for other matches. At the same time though, only one person has been announced for either Royal Rumble so they might want to start picking up the pace. Then again, they might want to have a lot of surprises this time. Let’s get to it. We open with the Bloodline (minus Roman Reigns/Paul Heyman) wrecking havoc at ringside. Sami Zayn says they’re taking over tonight but here is Kevin Owens to interrupt. Sami calls this a hostile takeover but Owens says he wants to punch Zayn in the face. Cue Adam Pearce and company to tell Owens that this isn’t happening tonight or all year. Security goes after the Bloodline but gets dropped, drawing Owens into the r..

SmackDown Results – December 9, 2022
Smackdown Date: December 9, 2022 Location: PPG Paints Arena, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Commentators: Michael Cole, Wade Barrett We’re coming up on the end of the year and that means the Royal Rumble is still pretty far away. This time around we have a Tag Team Title match as the Brawling Brutes challenge the Usos, which should be a good fight. Other than that, it’s time to get ready for next week’s Intercontinental Title match so let’s get to it. Tag Team Titles: Usos vs. Brawling Brutes The Brutes (Sheamus/Butch with Ridge Holland) are challenging while Sami Zayn and Solo Sikoa are here with the champs. Sheamus headlock takeovers Jimmy down to start and then blasts him with a clothesline. Butch comes in and gets taken into the corner for a throat first drop across the top as we take a break. Back with Butch still in trouble but managing a German suplex off the ropes. That’s enough for the tag off to Sheamus for the house cleaning. We get the stereo multiple forearms to the chest, wi..

REVIEW: NXT TakeOver: R-Evolution: The Future Is Then
Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net, starting today. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? NXT Takeover: R-Evolution Date: December 11, 2014 Location: Full Sail University, Winter Park, Florida Attendance: 400 Commentators: Rich Brennan, Alex Riley, Corey Graves This should be a big one as we have a huge showdown in the main event for the NXT Title with Sami Zayn getting his rematch against champion Adrian Neville after a screwy finish to their last match. Other than that we have the long awaited debut of Kevin Owens and Hideo Itami teaming with Finn Balor to face the Ascension. Let’s get t..

NXT LVL Up Results – October 7, 2022
NXT LVL Up Date: October 7, 2022 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Matt Camp, Nigel McGuinness We are back to the show that changes so little week to week that I didn’t even realize I watched the same episode twice. Odds are there are going to be a lot of the same things this week as tends to be the case around here. That should mean some ok stuff, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up for anything spectacular. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Indi Hartwell vs. Sloane Jacobs Hartwell grabs a headlock takeover to start as we hear about Hartwell’s time in the Way. Jacobs slips out and hits a basement dropkick, only to get slammed down for two. A cravate goes on but Jacobs fights up and kicks her in the face a few times. Not that it matters as Hartwell hits the spinebuster for the pin at 3:17. Result: Indi Hartwell b. Sloane Jacobs – Spinebuster (3:17) Arianna James and Kiana James say don’t underestimate them. Myles Borne vs. Guru Raaj Borne wrestles him..

NXT LVL Up Results – September 23, 2022
NXT LVL Up Date: September 23, 2022 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Sudu Shah, Nigel McGuinness, Matt Camp The low level roller coaster continues with this show as I’m not sure what to expect. There have been some minor stories to set up some matches, plus a few appearances from bigger names. Then again, given this show’s track record, all of that will be dropped as soon as possible. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Dante Chen vs. Bryson Montana Montana runs him over to start so Chen grabs a headlock. Some takeovers give Chen some momentum and there’s a dropkick to stagger Montana. That’s about it for the offense though as Montana runs him over and hammers away on the mat. A Michinoku Driver gives Montana two and we hit the bearhug. Chen fights out and hits a clothesline, followed by a boot to the face. The double chop finishes Montana at 5:42. Result: Dante Chen b. Bryson Montana – Double chop (5:42) Myles Borne is ready for Andre Chase. Indi..

AEW Rampage Results – September 16, 2022
Rampage Date: September 16, 2022 Location: MVP Arena, Albany, New York Commentators: Jim Ross, Excalibur, Chris Jericho, Tony Schiavone The road to normalcy continues this week but there might not be as much to get hyped about with this show. The problem is that with no tournament matches for this week, there is only so much that can be done to bring in the interest. Rampage has a tendency to not feel the most important but maybe they can pull it off. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Matt Hardy vs. Darby Allin They shake hands to start and it’s Allin grabbing a headlock takeover. Hardy fights up so Allin crucifix bombs him for two. With Hardy on the floor, Allin’s dive is cut off but he drives Hardy into the steps to knock him silly again. Allin goes Jeff/PCO by trying a Swanton, which only hits apron because people like him never learn. We take a break and come back with Hardy hitting a Side Effect out of the corner for two. The Twist of Fate is countered and a suplex is as well..

NXT LVL Up Results – July 22, 2022
NXT LVL Up Date: July 22, 2022 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Sudu Shah, Nigel McGuinness This show has started to change a little bit in recent weeks and that is a good thing. There have been some original interviews and even a tease of some storylines. It shouldn’t be that hard to do SOMETHING with this show but unfortunately that doesn’t seem to be WWE’s idea. Maybe they have a different idea this week though so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Thea Hail vs. Brooklyn Barlow Chase U is here with Hail. They fight over wrist control to start before trading some rollups for two each. A headlock takeover puts Hail down and we hit the armbar as commentary talks about how much Chase U appreciates Hail. Something like a seated abdominal stretch brings Hail back to life for a side slam. A standing moonsault into Hail Yeah finishes Barlow at 5:37. Result: Thea Hail b. Brooklyn Barlow – Hail Yeah (5:37) Hank Walker isn’t going to let Duke Hudson disre..

REVIEW: Takeover 36: The Last Hurrah
Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Takeover 36 Date: August 22, 2021 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Beth Phoenix, Vic Joseph, Wade Barrett This might be the last version of the classic Takeover that we see and that is rather saddening. Takeover has been so special for such a long time but things in NXT are going to be shaken up in the near future. If this is it, they’re going out with a pretty big card, with three matches you could call the main event. Let’s get to it. Kickoff Show: Ridge Holland vs. Trey Baxter..

AEW Dynamite Live Coverage And Results – April 27, 2022
Dynamite Date: April 27, 2022 Location: Liacouras Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Commentators: Excalibur, Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone We’re back with another focus on the Owen Hart Foundation tournament as Dax Harwood faces Cash Wheeler. In addition to that, we won’t be see Hangman Page this week as he has come down with the Coronavirus, meaning that we don’t quite get any advancement in his feud with CM Punk. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Owen Hart Foundation Qualifying Match: Dax Harwood vs. Cash Wheeler CM Punk is on commentary and the guys come out together. They go to the mat to start as Punk talks about how he doesn’t necessarily like these guys but he does respect him. A series of headlocks takeovers are countered with a series of nip ups and we get a standoff with some applause. An armdrag into an armbar has Wheeler in control as commentary cracks some jokes about the wrestlers’ names. Harwood pokes him in the eye though and Wheeler doesn’t seem happy. Wheeler takes i..

WATCH: Ric Flair Gets Back In The Ring, Takes Bumps With Jay Lethal
One more time? There are very few wrestlers in history as famous as Ric Flair. Over a career that spanned the better part of forty years, Flair became one of the true icons of wrestling. This included more title reigns than anyone should be able to keep track of, plus a legacy of catchphrases and appearances that will never be matches. Flair also has a history of rivalries, and now he is working with one of his more infamous rivals. Flair has posted a video to Instagram, showing himself in a ring with AEW’s Jay Lethal. The video shows the two training and taking bumps, including a slam and a headlock takeover. The video ends with the two exchanging WOO’s in a callback to their infamous segment in Impact Wrestling. Charlotte, Flair’s daughter, responded with a comment saying “Dad WTF.” Flair, 73 years old, has not wrestled since the September 15, 2011 episode of Impact Wrestling. It was something else. Check out the Flair vs. Lethal video, plus their legendary WOO Off: [This post con..

REVIEW: NXT Stand & Deliver 2022: Mostly On The Second Part
Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Stand & Deliver 2022 Date: April 2, 2022 Location: American Airlines Center, Dallas, Texas Commentators: Vic Joseph, Wade Barrett Somehow this is NXT’s first time on the road in over two years. It might not be Takeover, but it is one of NXT’s rare big shows and the card could look worse. NXT hasn’t had the chance to do something like this very often and at some point you need to just let them go out there and do their thing in front of a lot of people. Let’s get to it. I was in attendance for this show, sitting i..

NXT Stand & Deliver 2022 Preview, Thoughts And Predictions
Welcome back to not quite Takeover and we have an especially big card. Rather than having the usual five match card, this one already has seven, plus some mixed tag thing that doesn’t seem to be an official match. NXT is starting to get somewhere in recent weeks and now they need to translate that to a big show. Granted that might be easier said than done but you never can tell around here. Let’s get to it. Kickoff Show: Women’s Tag Team Titles: Toxic Attraction(c) vs. Dakota Kai/Raquel Gonzalez This was added to the show on Tuesday as Kai and Gonzalez reunited in a moment that might not have been as emotional as WWE was hoping it to be. That being said, they are a team with some history and that is more than almost anyone else in the division (assuming there is one) at this point. It isn’t like there are any other challengers so maybe this will work out. I’ll go with new champions here, as Toxic Attraction aren’t exactly awash in challengers and it would be weird to do the big reuni..

Four New Matches Announced For NXT Stand & Deliver
It can grow in a hurry. NXT has been shaken up in a lot of ways over the last several months but things seem to have settled down a bit now. A September relaunch gave us NXT 2.0, which is kind of like the classic version but not exactly. There are several things missing, including Takeovers, but NXT does still run major shows. They are doing that again soon and now the card has grown. NXT Stand & Deliver is scheduled for Saturday April 2 and four new matches were announced for the show on NXT this week. First up, NXT Champion Dolph Ziggler will defend his NXT Title against Bron Breakker, who he took the title from last week in a triple threat. Second, NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose will defend against Cora Jade. Next Imperium will defend the NXT Tag Team Titles against MSK and the Creed Brothers in a triple threat match. Finally, Tony D’Angelo will face Tommaso Ciampa, though the final two matches have not been officially confirmed. Opinion: This is the kind of TV show that NXT has ..

Pat McAfee To Wrestle At WrestleMania 38
Now that’s a SHAHT AHT! During his first live interview in 15 years on today’s episode of “The Pat McAfee Show,” Vince McMahon invited the host to compete at WrestleMania 38. The invitation was extended due to the former NFL player and Smackdown commentator’s tremendous connection to the WWE Universe. You can see the announcement below: [This post contains video, click to play] McAfee last competed in a WWE ring at NXT Takeover: WarGames 2020. McAfee, along with Pete Dunne, Oney Lorcan, and Danny Burch defeated The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, Kyle O’Reilly, and Bobby Fish). It is unknown at this time who his opponent will be. Editor’s Opinion: YES! This is awesome! I remember thinking all during the pandemic how absolutely terrific he has been at everything that he has done in WWE. Not only has become the best commentator in the company on Smackdown, but his in-ring work was fantastic and he has earned the right to compete at the Showcase of the Immortals. I have..

AEW Dynamite Results – December 22, 2021 (Holiday Bash)
Dynamite Date: December 22, 2021 Location: Greensboro Coliseum, Greensboro, North Carolina Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Taz We’re back with yet another special show, this time in the form of Holiday Bash. That should make for another big card, though this time around the major draw is Sting being back in Greensboro. I’m still not sure why that should matter to anyone but the live audience, though seeing Sting team with CM Punk and Darby Allin against MJF and FTR should be fun. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Orange Cassidy vs. Adam Cole They stare each other down to start and trade headlock takeovers. Cassidy grabs a rollup for two and it’s right back to the mat, with Cassidy bouncing out of a headscissors. Cole kicks him down again and grabs a chinlock as they keep fighting for minor victories to start. Cassidy fights up again and grabs some rollups for two each. Back up and Cole hits a Backstabber out of the corner, setting up a hard whip into another corner to put ..

Completely Fulfilled: NXT Champion Gets Married Over The Weekend
That’s a great thing to see. Professional wrestlers have a bit of a rough schedule as they only have so much free time. Independent wrestlers are constantly going from one show to another, while WWE wrestlers have a more structured but still just as busy scheduled. It doesn’t leave much time for personal lives, but one wrestler got to do something pretty special this week. NXT United Kingdom Champion Ilja Dragunov has announced that he got married over the week. The wedding took place on Friday, with Dragunov saying that he was “completely fulfilled”. Dragunov won the United Kingdom Title from Walter earlier this year at NXT Takeover 36 in August and has gone on to defend it against the likes of A-Kid and Rampage Brown. 17.12.2021. Finally. Kyle O’Reilly Is Officially A Free Agent
Add another one to the list. According to a report from PWInsider, Kyle O’Reilly has not-resigned with WWE and has officially become a free agent. Both he and Johnny Gargano have been removed from the company’s internal roster. This news comes after Gargano became a free agent the day before. He is currently free to work anywhere he wants to since there was no non-compete attached to his contract. O’Reilly has had quite a career in NXT. He was a three-time WWE NXT tag team champion, and also won the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic in 2018 with Adam Cole. The pair, along with Bobby Fish and Roderick Strong, was known as the Undisputed Era and was one of the most successful factions in NXT history. However, Cole and O’Reilly had an intense rivalry throughout most of 2021, which led to a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match at NXT Takeover: 36. You can see the final war of words below: [This post contains video, click to play] Editor’s Opinion: This isn’t surprising to me at all. With Bobby Fish a..

WarGames 2021 Date: December 5, 2021 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Vic Joseph, Beth Phoenix, Wade Barrett We’re not at a Takeover, but we’re pretty much at a Takeover. It’s close enough to November so let’s have some WarGames matches, with the men and the women both getting a shot. Other than that, we have a hair vs. hair match, a Tag Team Title match, and a Cruiserweight Title match with only one cruiserweight. Let’s get to it. WATCH: Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Sami Zayn From NXT: Takeover Dallas 2016
The King of Strong Style has arrived. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel in which they show the full match between Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Sami Zayn at NXT Takeover: Dallas in 2016. This was Nakamura’s debut match under the WWE banner. You can see the match in its entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] From WWE.com: Quickly, Nakamura’s Strong Style pedigree shone through as he battered Zayn with hard knees to the midsection and boots to the face. Zayn fought back, diving over the ropes onto Nakamura on the floor, then drilling him with a brutal Michinoku Driver back inside the ring. Once both Superstars were back on their feet, they began trading forearm strikes, one of which drew blood from the nose of Nakamura. Zayn downed his foe with a hard clothesline, but was soon caught in a cross armbreaker, which Nakamura transitioned into a Shining Triangle hold. The leader of the Zayniacs withstood the punishment, escaped and even managed to lock Nakamur..
