This is the Roadblock special, because we need a special event less than a month before what is probably the biggest NXT event of the year. Since the NXT Champion is in a six man tag, the real main event is probably Shawn Michaels appearing on the Grayson Waller Effect. NXT has teased Michaels fighting Waller, so odds are we see who is doing it in Michaels’ place this week. Let’s get to it. We open with Tiffany’s Epiphanies, as Tiffany Stratton runs down the card and talks about how we got here. Tony D’Angelo vs. Dijak This is the Jailhouse Street Fight, meaning a casket match with a jail cell. Dijak tries a nightstick to start but gets clotheslined to the floor instead. Their title match has officially been set up, but there is a detail involving someone else on the roster. One other wrestler is rather popular at the moment, but WWE has made up its mind. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: What? Steve Austin Set To Host New Weekly Television Series The angle at the end of the Royal Rumble saw Sami Zayn turn on the Bloodline by attacking Reigns with a chair. It can be difficult to come up with something for everyone to do and sometimes the best answer is to move them to another show for a change. Having three shows helps WWE quite a bit and now it seems that one star might be going to another of those shows. Shinsuke Nakamura appeared on this week’s edition of NXT as a surprise, defeating Stacks of the D’Angelo Family. It was Nakamura’s first televised match since the August 26 SmackDown. According to Fightful Select, and prior to the appearance, there had been discussion in WWE about Nakamura appearing for NXT. It is not clear if this will be a one off appearance or a permanent, or even semi-permanent, move. You have to hang it up eventually. Retirement is a weird concept for a lot of wrestlers as several of them have issues with leaving wrestling. Many of them have often stick around longer than expected as they can keep coming back for one more match here or there. Eventually everyone has to hang up the boots though and that is going to be the case with another former WWE star. According to Fightful, Mike Bucci, formerly known as Nova or Simon Dean in WWE, will be wrestling his final match on December 3. Bucci, 50 years old, will team with Aron Stevens (formerly known as Damien Sandow) and another partner to be named against Matt Cardona, Brian Myers and another partner to be named at Stand Alone Wrestling’s Contest Of Champions in in Tom’s River, New Jersey. Bucci began wrestling in 1992 and made his name in ECW as part of the Blue World Order. He has also wrestled in WWE and around the independent circuit. There was something in mind. WWE runs a lot of different angles on television in any given year. Some of them are more memorable than others and you will occasionally see one that sticks out for years. That might not always be a good thing though and now we know the original plans behind one of the more infamously strange stories that the company has presented in recent memory. Back in November 2019, Erick Rowan began carrying a cage to the ring with him but no one could see what was inside. Over the next several months, whatever was in the cage proceeded to bite several people, including Rowan himself. The creature was eventually revealed to be a large spider, which was then crushed a week later. During a new interview with the 10 Count podcast, Rowan revealed that Seth Rollins told him the original plan called for the creature to be a pet rat. There are some big names who stick around for a long time but more often than not, wrestlers are moving on to greener pastures on a regular basis. Occasionally a bigger name will move though, and that can create a unique situation. That was the case earlier this year. Back in February, Cody Rhodes left AEW and returned to WWE later in the year. During a new interview with Ariel Helwani, AEW’s Maxwell Jacob Friedman discussed Rhodes leaving the company. Friedman said that the locker room viewed Rhodes leaving favorably, though not in a personal way against Rhodes.
