Not For Him: 37 Year Old Second Generation Star Reveals Plans For WWE Run

What could have been. There are so many different ways to present a wrestler and some of them have been done many times over the years. A talented performer can make even the most overly done ideas work out well though and it can be interesting to see how they pull it off. Now we know what kind of plans WWE had for a second generation star before letting him go. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Young Fan Helps Seth Rollins In WWE Live Event Match Against Austin Theory Former WWE star Davey Boy Smith Jr. was interviewed by Fightful Select and spoke about his return to WWE in 2021, when he was signed and released in the same year without making a televised appeared. Smith Jr. said that his gimmick would have been the Stampede Stud and he would have worked on SmackDown. Vince McMahon told Smith that his appearance was impressive but Smith said getting into that kind of shape was “costly” for him. While Smith said he would return to WWE, it would only be for the money without his heart bein..

Former WWE Star Reveals Interesting Gimmick Planned For Him

That could have been different. There are a lot of things that have to come together to make a wrestler work out. If one of those things are missing or off, the whole thing might not come together. One of the biggest is the wrestler’s name and getting it wrong can be quite the detriment for a wrestler. It seems that WWE almost had a very interesting choice for a returning wrestler last year. In a new interview with Inside The Ropes, Davey Boy Smith Jr. revealed that there were plans to give him a new gimmick during his 2021 WWE return. Smith would have worn his father’s vest and gone under the name the Stampede Stud. The plan had been for him to appear on SmackDown but he never wrestled on television before being released from the company in November 2021. Opinion: Honestly, Stampede Stud isn’t exactly a bad name and I could see something like this working. It sounds better than Davey Boy Smith Jr. or having the same nickname as his father. Smith was always in great shape and they co..

The card is absolutely stacked and one of the biggest that AEW has had in recent or even long term memory. Possibly the most important story here is the fact that the fans are back in full capacity, meaning it will be even more energized than usual. Let’s get to it. Buy-In Show: NWA Women’s Title: Riho vs. Serena De..

Farewell: Special AEW Match Officially Retired

It’s retired. There are all kinds of ways to present a wrestling match. What it tends to boil down to is one wrestler (or occasionally a group of wrestlers) facing off with another, occasionally with something on the line. Sometimes you need something different though and that involves adding a gimmick. There have been several over the years, but now we might not be seeing one again. During a recent interview with ESPN’s Marc Raimondi, AEW President Tony Khan revealed that Stadium Stampede will not likely be happening again in the future. Khan said that one of the main appeals of the match came from the pandemic and things have changed since then. Stadium Stampede is regularly held inside an NFL stadium and features a variety of cinematic segments with no live crowd in attendance. The match was held twice, including at Double Or Nothing 2020 and 2021. Opinion: The logic makes sense, as there is no reason to have the match held in an empty stadium when fans can be brought in. It was s..

He has a history with football; from 1990 to 1994, he played for the University of Miami Hurricanes. Although he would be a part of the national championship team in 1991, Johnson would appear in a backup role, starting only one game in four years. After Johnson graduated in 1995, he signed with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League as a linebacker. He was assigned to the practice roster but was cut tw..

So Long: AEW Stable Likely Splitting Up Soon

Go their own ways. Stables are a simple and effective idea in wrestling as they allow several wrestlers to be on screen at the same time. Rather than trying to find something for everyone to do, it can be a lot easier to group a bunch of them together under one idea. That can make things a lot easier, butit looks like we are going to be seeing one such group call it quits soon. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the Pinnacle is likely to split up soon. This comes as Wardlow has been turned into a babyface while the rest of the team is comprised of heels. The team has been slowly going their separate ways since the Stadium Stampede match to the Inner Circle earlier this year. There is no word on how the team will split or what is next for everyone. The team has done quite a bit during their time together. Check out some of the Pinnacle’s time: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinio..

Double Or Nothing Date: May 23, 2020 Location: Daily’s Place, Jacksonville, Florida Commentators: Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, Excalibur It’s back to the pay per view calendar, which isn’t somewhere AEW goes all that often. It’s a triple main event with the Stadium Stampede, Jon Moxley defending the World Title against Brodie Lee and Cody vs. Lance Archer for the inaugural TNT Title. They’ve done well on pay per view before so let’s get to it. Pre-Show: Best Friends vs. Private Party For the #1 contendership. Chuck..

REVIEW: In Your House: Canadian Stampede: Oh….Canada

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. In Your House #16: Canadian Stampede Date: July 6, 1997 Location: Saddledome, Calgary, Alberta, Canada Attendance: 12,151 Commentators: Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler, Vince McMahon This is a show I’ve been waiting to get to for a very long time. There are only four matches on the card, but even with so few matches the card is nothing short of stacked. Let’s get to it. The opening..

AEW Dynamite Results – June 4, 2021

Dynamite Date: June 4, 2021 Location: Daily’s Place, Jacksonville, Florida Commentators: Jim Ross, Excalibur, Tony Schiavone We’re done with Double Or Nothing and things are on a bit of a roll around here. I’m curious to see how they follow up on a pretty awesome pay per view which saw the Inner Circle survive by winning Stadium Stampede over the Pinnacle. There are a few directions they can take before All Out in September so let’s get to it. Penta El Zero Miedo/Pac vs. Young Bucks Non-title and apparently the Bucks attacked Rey Fenix before the match, including a bunch of V Triggers. Michael Nakazawa, Brandon Cutler and the Good Brothers are here but cue Frankie Kazarian to jump Nakazawa, causing the Brothers to chase him off. Don Callis joins commentary as Pac and Penta (looking Jokerish tonight) hit big dives to the floor. A pair of backdrops keep the Bucks in trouble and they head inside for the opening bell. Penta comes in to roll Matt up for two with Nick making the save and ..

Here’s What Happened After AEW Double Or Nothing

We aren’t done yet. This weekend saw one of the biggest non-WWE pay per views of the year with AEW’s Double Or Nothing. The show featured nine matches, capped off by the huge Stadium Stampede main event. The match saw the Inner Circle survive over the Pinnacle, but it turns out that the night was not over yet. Something else happened later and it was quite nice. According to PWInsider.com, after Double Or Nothing went off the air, Chris Jericho thanked the fans for their “AEW” chants and for everyone who helped make Stadium Stampede a success two years in a row. Jericho also thanked the city of Jacksonville, which prompted a “DUVAL” chant, after the county Jacksonville is located in. Sammy Guevara and Jericho thanked the fans for selling out the event to end the night. The main event was a heck of a battle. Check out how the whole thing went: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: I can’t say I blame Jericho and company for being excited about what happened at the show..

WATCH: Surprise Cameos Take Place During AEW Stadium Stampede

I remember you. Every now and then, you see a wrestling match which is not quite like the others. There is some kind of big twist or change that makes it feel like nothing else you have seen in a long time. That may or may not be the best move, but it certainly makes things memorable. Such a match took place this weekend and it included a few guest appearances. This weekend, All Elite Wrestling presented its second annual Stadium Stampede match, featuring two teams fighting throughout TIAA Bank Field. The match went all over the stadium and featured a handful of cameos. First, Maxwell Jacob Friedman and Chris Jericho brawled into an office where Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer and assistant coach Charlie Strong were working on plays. Strong tossed Jericho some footballs to throw at Friedman and Meyer was taken aback by Jericho throwing Friedman over a flight of stairs. Later, Santana and Ortiz and FTR brawled in a bad inside the stadium. As they fought, the DJ played some..

REVIEW: Spring Stampede 1997: They’re Kind Of Bad At This

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Spring Stampede 1997 Date: April 6, 1997 Location: Tupelo Coliseum, Tupelo, Mississippi Attendance: 8,356 Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Bobby Heenan, Dusty Rhodes It’s time to get into a weird period for WCW, as the company is still rolling with the NWO but they need someone to stand up for the company. That would seem to be Sting, but since he has not been in a match for months now, things could be a little more complicated. This is a B show with no Hogan, Piper, or anyone else for the most part and a main event of ..

AEW Dark Results – September 8, 2020

If you would like to see this show in full, you can watch it right here for free: Dark Date: September 8, 2020 Location: Daily’s Place, Jacksonville, Florida Commentators: Excalibur, Taz For reasons I don’t quite fathom, this is the third episode of Dark in eight days because we needed a special one before All Out and then the regular shows as well. At least tonight’s show along with Friday’s were a little shorter than usual, but we’ve got squashification waiting for us so let’s get to it. Taz and Excalibur give us the rapid fire intro. Sean Legacy vs. Will Hobbs Hobbs starts fast with a running shoulder before lifting Legacy up by the wrist for some arm cranking. Legacy’s crossbody is knocked out of the air with ease and a release gordbuster knocks him silly again. An Oklahoma Stampede finishes Legacy at 2:59. Result: Will Hobbs b. Sean Legacy – Oklahoma Stampede (2:59) Tony Donati vs. Brian Cage Non-title. Cage hits a release German suplex in the first five seconds and then do..

Watch: Sting’s WCW World Championship Victories

The Icon has that name for a reason. WWE has posted a new video to their YouTube channel in which they show all of the televised WCW World Heavyweight Championship victories by Hall of Famer, Sting. You can see the video in its entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] The world title victories are as follows: Ric Flair, Great American Bash, 1990 Lex Luger, Superbrawl II, 1992 Ravishing Rick Rude, Spring Stampede, 1994 Vader, Slamboree, 1994 Hollywood Hogan, Starrcade 1997 Hollywood Hogan, Superbrawl VIII, 1998 Diamond Dallas Page, Monday Nitro, 1999 Hulk Hogan, Fall Brawl, 1999 Editor’s Opinion: Watching this video brought back a lot of memories. I remember hearing Jim Ross call matches for WCW back when I was growing up, and understanding what I do now about professional wrestling, it still brings back a great deal of nostalgia. Sting was always one of my favorite WCW superstars, and it’s cool to see WWE acknowledging his accomplishments and I hope that they do ..
