It’s a good change. WWE has been around for decades and over the years, the company has built up a variety of traditions. Several of these have come and gone, but there are some things that are almost hard to imagine changing. That can make for some jarring moments when the switches do happen, but now we are seeing the reception to one such change. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: That’s Different: WWE Makes Huge Announcement About Backlash, Bad Bunny Set For Major Role For decades, WWE has mainly presented its Premium Live Events on Sunday nights with very few exceptions. However, in recent years, WWE has begun presenting such events on Saturdays as well. According to Fightful Select, WWE sources have said that the change in schedule has been viewed as positive. There is no word on what caused WWE to make the change or if it will continue going forward. They have gone well. Check out some Saturday events: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] ..
Mark your calendars. On average, WWE runs one Premium Live Event a month and you can usually pencil in a lot of the events. Some shows have been run n the same months for years now and there is nothing to suggest that they will be changing anytime soon. Occasionally you will see something else slip in though and that might be the case with a returning event. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Maybe? Pat McAfee Explains Uncertainty About WWE Future Following Company Sale Wrestlenomics’ Brandon Thurston is reporting that multiple sources have confirmed WWE will present Backlash on May 6 and King & Queen Of The Ring on May 27. WWE has not yet announced either show. Backlash, which has been called WrestleMania Backlash in recent years, is regularly the next major event after WrestleMania. King Of The Ring has been held on and off for several years, though it has only been a stand alone event once since 2002. Queen Of The Ring has never been held, though WWE did hold a Queen’s Crown tournament in 202..
Maybe not? Vince McMahon’s return to WWE has shaken up just about everything in the company. McMahon is back to negotiate a sale of the company and that is going to chance the company’s future in a big way. At the same time, the question has become what else McMahon will be doing. This week we saw some speculation about just that, but it might have been jumping the gun. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: He’s Done: Wrestling Legend Goes A Step Further To Prove His Retirement Earlier this week, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful sent out a tweet saying that a WWE talent had said they “believed” McMahon had returned to the WWE creative team, though this was never confirmed. Sapp sent out another tweet later in the day, saying that other sources have said that the original statement was “unfounded”. WWE has been adamant about the fact that McMahon has no intentions of returning to WWE creative and is only interested in selling the company. This week, a WWE talent reached out and told me they believed Vinc..
Honor and tradition. Gunther has been the WWE Intercontinental Champion since June 10, 2022, when he defeated Ricochet to win the title. He has defeated everyone in his path since then and as a result, has made history within WWE. According to various sources on Twitter, Gunther has now broken into the top 10 of longest-reigning Intercontinental Champions in WWE history. Furthermore, he is just over 200 days away from breaking the all time record. Also, as of this week, Gunther has had the longest Intercontinental Title reign of the last 18 years, surpassing Cody Rhodes’ 234-day reign from 2011. The family’s take. The biggest wrestling story of the year so far, and one of the biggest in a very long time, is WWE announcing that it is getting ready to be sold. This has sent major shocks throughout the wrestling industry, but WWE in particular has felt the impact. There have been all kinds of questions being asked, but now we may know the reactions from two of the most important players. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Upgrade: Positive Update On Hospitalized WWE Hall Of Famer Axios has released its own story on the entire situation, including regarding the decision to sell in the first place. According to Axios’ sources, both Triple H and Stephanie McMahon had opposed the selling of the company. This comes after McMahon resigned from the WWE Board Of Directors last week. It is not clear if her stance on this is what directly led to her departure from the company. Those are some important voices in WWE. Check out some of what they have done in the company: [This post contains video, c..
There’s more to it. We are in the middle of a huge time of change in WWE and there are likely a lot more changes coming in the near future. This includes changes all the way at the top of the company, as WWE has been teasing a sale in recent weeks. That seemed to be the case earlier this week, but it seems to have been a false alarm. Now we know a bit more about the backstage reaction to what is going on. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Only Room For One: Former WWE Superstar Accused Of Trying To Get Wrestlers Fired Earlier this week, a rumor surfaced saying that WWE had been sold to Saudi Arabia, though the story seems to not be true. Fightful Select has more on the fallout from the rumor, including WWE sources saying no sale to Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) has been made “as of yet”. As for the roster, several have said they would walk out if the PIF purchased the company. There are also wrestlers who are worried about Vince McMahon returning to WWE Creative, with some believ..
That is some high praise. Wrestling has been around for a very long time now and history has played an important role in developing new stars. Promoters are going to try to recreate something that they have done with success before and will often try to find their next star. Now we know how one of the biggest stars of all time got his start because of a previous star. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: Very Interesting Report On WrestleMania 39 Main Events During a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that Paul Heyman helped get John Cena called up from WWE developmental in 2002. Heyman felt that Cena was the next Sting, a label that has been applied to Cena by various sources over the years, including around the time of his call up. Cena would debut in a segment and match with Kurt Angle on June 27, 2002. There might be something to this. That’s rather serious. Injuries are one of the worst things that can happen to a wrestler as you never know how bad something is going to be at first. Then comes the waiting, as you have nothing else to do but see just how long someone is going to be out of action. Sometimes that can be for a good while and in worse cases, it can be indefinite. Unfortunately an all time legend is dealing with the latter. Back in May, Randy Orton left WWE TV to deal with a back injury and has not been seen since. According to Fightful Select, Orton underwent some sort of back fusion surgery at some point this year. WWE sources have reportedly said that the company will be lucky to have Orton back after his recovery. However, when he was initially injured, Orton said that he would be back at some point. There is nothing in the way of a guess about when Orton could return to the ring. Orton is amazing when he is able to be in the ring. Check out what he can do when he is around: [This post contains vid..
He deserves a break. This year has been a very eventful one in the wrestling world and there is nothing to suggest that those changes are wrapping up anytime soon. The biggest change of them all has been Vince McMahon retiring from WWE after decades in charge. McMahon doing something other than running WWE seems hard to fathom and now we have a better idea of what he is doing now that he is away from the company. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Upgrade: Health Update On Missing Wrestling Legend According to Fightful Select, WWE sources have said they do not hear from McMahon very much these days. Instead, McMahon has reportedly been out more often than when he was running WWE. This included a birthday party with some WWE superstars earlier this year, plus being seen at a restaurant with a woman in New York City last month. McMahon left WWE in July. McMahon was a major part of the company. Check out some of his moments with WWE: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains..
He might be worth a look. Back in the late 1990s, Steve Austin took the wrestling world by storm and went on to become an all time legend of the sport. Austin was one of the few names who became known to the masses outside of wrestling and continues to be a legend today. That was clear earlier this year at WrestleMania 38 and it might still be taking place in the future. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Reportedly Believes Steve Austin Could Wrestle Again Austin wrestled his first match in nineteen years back in April at WrestleMania 38, defeating Kevin Owens in the main event of the show’s first night. According to Fightful Select, WWE has made an offer for Austin to wrestle again at some point in the future. While not confirmed, Fightful’s sources believe it would be for WrestleMania 39 in April 2023. However, the two sides were said to initially be “far apart” on terms, though there is no word on if they had come closer to working out a deal. He still had it this year..
He has a future. WWE has a lot of valuable resources with one of the most important being the NXT developmental territory. NXT allows WWE to home grow and prepare its next generation of stars, which has worked wonders for them over the years. It means a lot to have someone move up and now WWE seems to have a plan for its next major call up at some point in the future. According to WrestleVotes in an interview with GiveMeSport, WWE is high on NXT’s Grayson Waller and plans to call him up to the main roster. However, he may stay down in NXT for the time being, as WWE is wanting to find a special plan for him, in the vein of Kevin Owens confronting John Cena. There is no word on when Waller, who has been in NXT since September 2021, could be called up. Opinion: I’m not a bit surprised by this as Waller really does seem to have all of the tools to be ready to move up to the main roster. There are wrestlers who have that it factor and Waller would be one of those. I could go for seeing Wa..
