Elimination Chamber 2023 Preview, Predictions And Thoughts

It’s the last big stop on the Road To Wrestlemania and for a five match card, four of them are big and the fifth includes some Hall of Famers. This show is pretty much stacked with either big matches or the awesome sounding main event. While the show is called Elimination Chamber, the whole thing is about Roman Reigns defending the World Title against hometown boy Sami Zayn. Let’s get to it. Edge/Beth Phoenix vs. Finn Balor/Rhea Ripley Somehow this is the least important match on the show as Edge’s war against the Judgment Day continues. In this case, he is bringing in the wife to go after Ripley, who is on her way to WrestleMania. This should be a good, long tag match as all four can do well in a spot like this one. That being said, it doesn’t help that this feels like it is only there to set up something at Wrestlemania. I’ll take Judgment Day here, as Ripley pinning Phoenix would make her look like a bigger deal on what could be her path to the main event of the first night of Wre..

Interesting Note On Clauses Included In AEW Contracts

Just like the other guys. There are a lot of wrestling promotions in the world today but WWE and AEW get far more attention than anyone else. That is due to a variety of reasons, but their star power is very high up there. Both companies have stars that fans are going to want to see and it turns out that both of them have the same policy in order to keep those wrestlers around under certain circumstances. WWE has a policy that the contracts of injured wrestlers are allowed to be extended in the case of injuries. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW wrestlers undergo the same situations if they are injured, as their contracts have the clause included. There is no word on if any of the currently or previously injured AEW stars have had their deals extended in this way. Opinion: This is the kind of thing that might not be the nicest sounding thing in the world but it makes sense from the business side. It isn’t fair to AEW or WWE to sign a wrestler to a multi year deal an..

Rhea Ripley Reveals She Is Dealing With Multiple Health Issues

That’s an explanation. Wrestling is a physical sport and that means there is always the chance that someone can get hurt. There have been a lot of injuries over the years and some of them are more than a bit strange. That is kind of the case this time again, though in this case the wrestler has a pair of injuries, with one of them sounding a bit more serious than the other. Earlier this week on Monday Night Raw, Bianca Belair announced that Rhea Ripley was not medically cleared to wrestle at Money in the Bank, meaning their Raw Women’s Title match was off. Ripley has since revealed via her Instagram by way of Wrestlinginc.com that she is suffering from both brain and teeth injuries. There is no word on what specifically is wrong or how long Ripley will be out. Carmella earned the right to challenge Belair instead. Opinion: Both of these are serious issues and hopefully Ripley is back sooner rather than later. Either of them could be an issue that could keep Ripley on the shelf for a ..

Get Well Soon: Bad Injury Update On NXT Star

It can happen to anyone. As bad as it sounds, the reality is that injuries are one of the few universal problems for any wrestler. You never know when you might see someone get hurt and that is never a good thing to see. Unfortunately you can see someone get hurt at any time and they can be on the shelf for a good while. That is the case again, and now it is not sounding like the best news. This week on NXT, Vic Joseph announced that Odyssey Jones had suffered a ruptured patella tendon. Jones has already undergone surgery to repair the injury, which will put him out until the fall. The injury took place during a match on a recent 205 Live taping, which never aired. Jones’ most recent televised match took place the December 28, 2021 edition of NXT. Opinion: This is one of those things that happens on occasion, but it doesn’t make the situation any better. Above all else, what matters most is Jones getting back to full healthy. He was showing a lot of potential before he was put on the..

Seth Rollins Undergoes Name Change (And It’s A Doozy)

It’s in a name. A wrestler’s name is one of the most important parts of their entire presentation. You can only get so far with the wrong name as it is something that needs to catch your attention while also sounding good. Having something that doesn’t sound exactly right can be a big problem and now we might be seeing that again with a top WWE star. Seth Rollins’ name has officially been changed to Seth “Freakin” Rollins, as per his WWE.com profile. This comes after WWE has been referring to Rollins with the “Freaking” moniker for several weeks, including on his name chiron. There have been no other changes to Rollins over the same time. Rollins challenged for the WWE Title last weekend at Day One but lost the match. Rollins is great under any name. Oh I Know You: WWE Changes Two Wrestlers’ Names

Who are you again? There are a lot of ways for a wrestler to get the fans’ attention but some of them are a bit simpler than others. One of the best is to have a name that is unique enough to make someone listen while also sounding like something that could be intimidating. That is a hard combination to pull off and now WWE is trying a different path with two of its wrestlers. WWE has changed the names of Humberto Carrillo and Angel Garza to just Humberto and Angel, according to both of their WWE.com profiles. This follows WWE’s trend of dropping wrestlers’ first or last names, such as with Cesaro, Big E. and Ali. There is no word on why the names were changed, though the two have been teaming together, under the name Los Lotharios as of this week’s SmackDown. They are talented guys under any name. Check out the two of them together and apart: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: ..

Former WWE World Champion Seen Meeting With Impact Wrestling Boss

That’s sounding serious. WWE and AEW get most of the attention in the wrestling world but there are all kinds of other promotions out there, many of which have a lot to offer. Several promotions can easily be seen by the masses and that makes for some very nice opportunities for wrestlers around the world. One big name might be about to move on to one of them. According to PWInsider.com, former WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman met with Impact Wrestling executive Scott D’Amore over the weekend. The two met at a hotel bar in Detroit, where the Motor City Comic Con was being held. The meeting was said to last for “a long time” and comes after Strowman has reportedly been in negotiations with Impact Wrestling. Impact Wrestling has been working on surprises for next Saturday’s Bound For Glory event. He might be bound for Impact. Check out what Strowman can do in the ring: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video..

NXT UK Results – October 7, 2021

NXT UK Date: October 7, 2021 Location: BT Sports Studios, London, England Commentators: Andy Shepherd, Nigel McGuinness Things are about to change again in a good way as the fans are going to be returning to the show rather soon. The taping has already taken place and now we get to see just how the show can work with an audience. As for tonight, it is FINALLY the end of the Heritage Cup #1 contenders tournament as Noam Dar faces Wolfgang. Let’s get to it. We open with a recap of the tournament to get us to the finals. Opening sequence. Jinny vs. Emilia McKenzie Joseph Conners is here with Jinny. They fight over wrist control to start until Jinny flips her over for two. A front facelock has Jinny in some trouble but she reverses into a leg crank and elbows at the head. McKenzie is back up with a dropkick and fisherman’s neckbreaker but can’t grab a German suplex. Instead Jinny twists her down by the arm and puts on an Iron Octopus for the always cool sounding hold. Now it’s off to a..

KB’s Review: Welcome Change

Note that this is being written before the debut of the new NXT, so I have no idea what took place on this week’s show. NXT has been around for a very long time now and has become one of the staples of modern wrestling. There have been some amazing matches, all time classic shows and incredible talents to come out of the promotion, but that is not good enough for some people. By “some people”, I mean Vince McMahon, but you really don’t need anyone else when he is involved. Over the last few weeks/months, word has gotten out that McMahon is ready to blow NXT up and reset a lot of the ideas of the promotion back to the original days. That has been the big boogeyman for a while now and it is coming to get you. I know it sounds rather scary in ways as it sounding more like NXT Night Raw, but there was something that caught my eye which gives me some hope. Earlier this week, a report came out from Fightful Select saying that NXT was going to have more characters going forward, albeit in ..

RUMOR: WWE Changing Hell In A Cell Name

What’s in a name? There are a lot of pay per views on the WWE calendar and most of the time, you can figure out what the show is based on the name alone. It might not be the best sounding name in the world, but WWE does tend to make things rather straightforward at times. Now they are adjusting the name of a long running series again, this time in a bit of an odd way. According to WWENetworknews.com, this year’s Hell In A Cell event will be renamed “The Ultimate Show: Ultimate Hell In A Cell”. This follows WWE’s trend of adding taglines or other names to various pay per views, such as “The Horror Show At Extreme Rules”, “WrestleMania Backlash” and “Survivor Series: Best Of The Best”. WWE has not yet confirmed the name change for the show, which will air on June 20. The show has quite a history already. Check out how it has gone over the years: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: ..

NXT Live Coverage And Results – April 13, 2021

NXT Date: April 13, 2021 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Winter Park, Florida Commentators: Vic Joseph, Beth Phoenix, Wade Barrett We’re officially on a new night now and that means things should be getting all the more interesting. This is also coming off of Takeover: Stand & Deliver and we have quite a few changes to deal with tonight. The good thing is Raw left a pretty low bar for this show to clear. Let’s get to it. Here are Karrion Kross and Scarlett to interrupt. Kross says time comes for everyone and promised to get the title back. Finn Balor went on a tear as NXT Champion but he couldn’t control Kross and Kross controls everything. He is going to hold this title until he says otherwise because no one is going to out train or out wrestle him. It doesn’t matter what you have done before or how many zeroes are on the end of your check, because everyone pays the toll. We get a video on Takeover (which starts with Michael Cole sounding like he is talking about Wrestlemania s..

New Scary Match Set For Halloween Havoc

That sounds scary. It is October and that means that Halloween is going to get some extra attention. That is the case with the wrestling world as well and for once, WWE is capitalizing on the most well known Halloween themed name in wrestling history. On October 28, NXT is bringing back Halloween Havoc and now we have another rather creepy sounding match on the card. There are a lot of odd people in wrestling and Dexter Lumis is one of the stranger going today. He barely ever speaks but draws various pictures, often showing someone in some kind of pain. Lumis also rarely feels pain and tends to have the same blank expression on his face most of the time. That isn’t someone you want after you most of the time but Cameron Grimes will have to deal with him next week. This week on NXT, Grimes vs. Lumis was confirmed for Halloween Havoc in a Haunted House Of Terror match. There were no rules or explanations given for the match, which comes about after Grimes cost Lumis his shot at the Nor..

Update On Streaming Services Acquiring WWE Pay Per Views

Not so fast? Things are a bit crazy in the wrestling world at the moment and that might be the case for a long time to come. There are still going to be wrestling shows in one form or another, but that does not mean they are going to be what you are used to seeing. At the same time, things may be changing in how you can watch pay per views, but it might not be for a little while longer. In February, a story made the rounds about WWE attempting to sell their pay per view rights to a streaming platform. While no platform was ever named, various services such as Peacock and ESPN+ were mentioned. There were various questions still to be answered about such a move, but the move was sounding likely. It has not happened yet, but now we have an update. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, negotiations are still ongoing between WWE and the various possible partners. It is not clear when any deal could be made or which platform could be making a deal with WWE. The deal will not incl..

Star Power Galore. Lineups For Men’s Survivor Series Match Revealed *SPOILERS*

You have to fill in the lineups. With less than two weeks to go before Survivor Series, it’s time to get ready for one of the biggest matches of the year. That would be the men’s elimination match, featuring a Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live team of five men each, plus a captain each. Since there isn’t a lot of time left, those teams are starting to come together and someone knows a little earlier than usual. According to PWInsider.com, the lineup for the men’s Survivor Series elimination match will see a Monday Night Raw team of Kurt Angle, Braun Strowman, Bobby Lashley, Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler vs. a SmackDown Live team of Daniel Bryan, Samoa Joe, Rey Mysterio, the Miz and Randy Orton. This week on Monday Night Raw, McIntyre, Ziggler and Strowman were confirmed for the match. How did we get those three names confirmed? [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: That’s a pretty solid sounding main event. The important part of these matches is to offer pairings ..

Looking at the Best Possible Outcomes for Battleground

<p>Battleground is nearly upon us. After Sunday, plans will be set into motion. Summerslam depends entirely on what happens at Battleground. Will <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/baron-corbin" title="Baron Corbin">Baron Corbin</a></strong> be the next to fall to Shinsuke Nakamura? Will the New Day finally become Tag Team Champions? Who will be <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/naomi" title="Naomi">Naomi</a></strong>’s opponent at Summerslam?</p><p>With that in mind, who needs to win this Sunday? Which victories would be ideal? Who will affect Summerslam in the best possible way? We’re going to find out.</p><h4>Rusev v. John Cena</h4><p></p><p>First off, allow me to say this. This feud is so backwards and unnecessary that it’s almost funny. Do Smackdown really want two of their top stars to fight some anti-American foreigners? Apparently so.</p><p><strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/rusev" title="Rusev">Rusev</a></strong> is capable of so much more than just “I hate America, you fatties.” Cena can cut better promos when he’s not talking about “the flag represents all of us!” I don’t care that they’re fighting again. It’s just that the feud is straight out of the ’80s. All it needs are some prayers and vitamins and the Hulkster could do it. Not good.</p><p>I firmly believe that if anyone is to walk away from this victorious, it should be Rusev. Cena’s established; feeding everyone to someone for 10 years straight will do that. Cena can lose. Rusev’s coming back from an injury.</p><p>It’s not even a standard match; Cena doesn’t need to eat a pin. Have Rusev back over him with a truck or handcuff him to the ropes or something. Just let Rusev win. If Rusev loses, where does he go from there? Nowhere. A victory will give him a little nudge up the card.</p><h4>Kevin Owens v. AJ Styles</h4><p></p><p>At Battleground, AJ Styles and Kevin Owens will once again lock horns over the United States Championship. Owens lost the title at a live event in Madison Square Garden, and he hopes to reclaim it. Styles hopes to hold onto the championship for some time.</p><p>While many are clamoring for Styles to move back into the WWE title picture, I would like to see him have a meaningful run with the US title. He plans on hosting an Open Challenge, and it would be interesting to see less-utilized guys have a chance to wrestle with him. Styles can make anyone look good, so this Open Challenge should be a great idea.</p><p>As for Owens, I’m not quite sure where he would go from here, but he always makes his way back. He lost his first ever feud on the main roster. As Universal Champion, he was a complete joke. But he recovered. He always does. Him losing to Styles will not be the end of his career.</p><h4>Randy Orton v. Jinder Mahal</h4><p></p><p>While many view the result of this match as a “rock and hard place” scenario, I don’t think it is. There is only one preferable outcome to the Punjabi Prison match. Orton needs to regain his championship.</p><p>The Jinder experiment has run its course. Mahal’s been cutting the same weaksauce promos for 8 weeks now. People have stopped caring about the WWE Championship. That’s not good.</p><p>While another Orton reign is not something anyone is looking forward to, it would be a lot better. For one, Orton can cut a promo without sounding like a teen currently going through puberty while smoking two packs a day. Mahal’s voice cracks more one promo than there are days in his title reign.</p><p>Lastly, Mahal wrestles a fairly pedestrian style that doesn’t exactly light the world on fire. If Orton were to regain the championship, he could actually have good matches. If he were to defend the WWE title against Nakamura, Corbin, or Owens at Summerslam, that could be great. It sounds better than Mahal v. Cena or something.</p>

Finn Balor Trolls Fans at Promotional Event

<p>While doing promotional work for WWE, <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/finn-balor" title="Finn Balor">Finn Balor</a></strong> trolled the fans in attendance by mentioning Roman Reigns.</p><p>When responding to a question by one of the interviewers, Balor stated that fans had plenty of reasons to be excited, he was then quoted as saying:</p><p><em>“Obviously they’ll get to see <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/seth-rollins" title="Seth Rollins">Seth Rollins</a></strong>, they’ll get to see <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/bray-wyatt" title="Bray Wyatt">Bray Wyatt</a></strong>, they’ll get to see Finn Balor, but most importantly they’ll get to see Roman Reigns.”</em></p><p>As soon as Balor mentioned Reigns, a resounding chorus of boos emanated from the fans in attendance followed by “Roman Sucks” chants.</p><p>Here is footage of the incident:</p>

Why Titus O’Neil Is One of the Best Parts of RAW Right Now

<p>The Titus Brand bandwagon (Brandwagon?) is coming this way, and I am here to say that I will be climbing aboard. The man used to be a reason to reach for the fast-forward button. Now he’s one of the more entertaining members of the roster. It took a while, but Titus O’Neil has found his niche on the roster. But why is the Titus Brand now a big deal? Allow me to explain.</p><h4>Titus O’Neil Has Always Been Capable on the Mic</h4><p>After Titus cut that dreadful promo on Raw after Summerslam (you know the one I’m talking about), everyone said he was hot garbage on the microphone. That’s simply not true. When he would work commentary, many praised him for his wit and good speaking ability. He sounded very natural. Barring the return of the Dudleys where he spent a good amount of time yelling incoherently, he was good.</p><p>Batista himself has said Titus would make a very good public speaker. I do think Titus is a good speaker. However, he’s better off staying away from those dead-serious promos. The reason the “I want Darren” promo sucked is because you could tell Titus was out of his element. When you watch him trying to earn a spot in the New Day or pushing his Titus Brand, he’s clearly more comfortable and more natural sounding. You have to play to a superstar’s strengths. You wouldn’t make Stone Cold cut a John Cena promo. Roman Reigns should avoid talking like Santino Marella. Bayley should avoid talking at all (I jest).</p><p>Now that Titus is having his strengths played to, he’s clearly better off. You can tell that he’s having fun. Dancing with the New Day, stealing <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/enzo-amore" title="Enzo Amore">Enzo Amore</a></strong>’s intro for himself, and all that jazz.</p><h4>The Titus Brand Is Hilarious</h4><p>Of course, humor is subjective, but many people, myself included, enjoy Titus’ segments on Raw. Ever since he moved away from <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/darren-young" title="Darren Young">Darren Young</a></strong> and began holding press conferences with Tom Phillips, he’s been a good bit of harmless fun. The “Tussle in Texas” was a particularly entertaining bout. It was hyped up as a legit fight, complete with a tale of the tape. 1 minute later, Titus is pinned after eating a World’s Strongest Slam from <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/mark-henry" title="Mark Henry">Mark Henry</a></strong>.</p><p>The addition of Apollo Crews to the Titus Brand will make for an even more interesting dynamic. Clearly Crews isn’t 100 percent on-board with the Brand. Still, he goes along with whatever wacky adventure Titus drags him to. Although O’Neil is very clearly a heel (a heel who just called the state of New Jersey “poor ass”), Crews is not entirely bad just yet. Titus receives all the heat, all while allowing Crews to slowly develop a character.</p><p>People have compared the two to LaVar and Lonzo Ball. To those who don’t know, Lonzo Ball is a Drake lookalike who many expect will be drafted in the next NBA Draft. LaVar is his loudmouth father who gets into all sorts of trouble. The comparison is there, and it works. Lonzo just wants to chill and play basketball, but LaVar keeps running his mouth and hyping him up as the Second Coming of Jesus. Same with O’Neil and Crews. Apollo just wants to wrestle and have fun, while Titus spews a whole lot of nonsense.</p>
