That could have been worse. Injuries are a part of wrestling that are never going to be completely eradicated no matter what. The amount of experience and training a wrestler has can only make them so safe as someone always has the chance to get hurt. There are some things that are inherently dangerous no matter what and that was the case this weekend. This weekend’s Impact Wrestling Slammiversary event featured the first ever Queen Of The Mountain match. During the match, Chelsea Green and Deonna Purrazzo were shoved off a ladder and out of the ring, sending them through a table. According to PWInsider.com, both Green and Purrazzo are ok after their crash and are not expected to miss any time from the ring. Jordynne Grace won the match to regain the Knockouts Title. Opinion: That could have been so much worse as you never can tell how something like that is going to go. What matters most is that Green and Purrazzo are both ok after such a crash and can stay in the ring. The Queen Of..
With special guest stars! Wrestling companies come and go all the time and some of them take their leave without much fanfare. It can be quite impressive when a company manages to survive for a long time but even longer when they do so with some success. One major company was celebrating a milestone this weekend and they had some guest stars to help. Impact Wrestling held its Slammiversary pay per view this weekend in honor of the company celebrating twenty years since its debut. Several guest stars and surprises appeared on the show, including videos from Sting, AJ Styles and Kurt Angle. Also appearing were past company names such as David Young, Slash, Chase Stevens and Shark Boy, all of whom appeared in the Reverse Battle Royal on the Countdown show. Other previous stars appearing were Dixie Carter, Davey Richards, America’s Most Wanted and Christy Hemme. This is a lot of talent here. Check out the company legends talking about the company: [This post contains video, click to pla..
It was a busy night. Titles are the easiest concept in wrestling because anyone gets the idea of someone wearing a shiny belt. You can easily figure out the idea and it is a simple match to set up: someone has a title and someone else wants it. That makes title changes some of the most important parts of a wrestling promotion and there were quite a few of them this weekend. Impact Wrestling held their Slammiversary pay per view over the weekend, marking the company’s twentieth anniversary. There were five title matches on the show with four titles changing hands. Here are the title changes: Mike Bailey won the X-Division Title in a six man Ultimate X match Rosemary/Taya Valkyrie defeated the Influence to win the Knockouts Tag Team Titles The Good Brothers defeated the Briscoes to regain the Tag Team Titles Jordynne Grace won the Knockouts Title in the first ever Queen of the Mountain match Impact Wrestling World Champion Josh Alexander retained his title over Eric Young in the main e..
It’s after a long time. There are a lot of people involved in making a wrestling match work, including some who do not get a ton of attention. One of the most important people involved is the referee, who is not often going to get noticed in a match, to the point where some promotions do not even bother naming them. Now one of the more prominent names in refereeing is stepping away from the ring, at least somewhat. During the latest edition of the Refin’ It Up podcast, Brian Hebner has announced that he is retiring from full time refereeing. Hebner announced that the upcoming Impact Wrestling Slammiversary weekend will be his last, including the pay per view and television tapings. Hebner made it clear that no one has caused him to step away, while saying that he is a single father and wanting to spend more time with his family. Opinion: I know a referee might not be the most important or well known part of a wrestling show but they can mean quite a bit. Hebner has been a pretty good..
Impact Wrestling Date: June 9, 2022 Location: Osceola Heritage Park, Kissimmee, Florida Commentators: Matthew Rehwoldt, Tom Hannifan We are rapidly approaching Slammiversary and that means it is time to start filling out the card. The main event is set but we still need to add in a few more spots here and there. This includes another name in the Ultimate X match, plus a likely Moose vs. Sami Callihan match. Let’s get to it. The opening sequence looks at Sami Callihan attacking Moose last week. Callihan wants Moose. Opening sequence, again featuring a classic TNA theme. Tenille Dashwood vs. Rosemary Madison Rayne is here too. Rosemary knocks her into the corner to start and a ram into the buckle makes it worse. Dashwood manages to get in a shot of her own though and pulls Rosemary outside for a crash to take over. Back in and the Upside Down doesn’t get Rosemary very far as Dashwood clotheslines her down. A full nelson is broken up though and a double clothesline gives them both a..
Impact Wrestling Date: June 2, 2022 Location: Osceola Heritage Park, Kissimmee, Florida Commentator: Tom Hannifan We’re closing in on Slammiversary and in this case that means even more Eric Young. I’m not sure what that is going to mean, but the good thing is that things haven’t been too terrible so far. Young is set to challenge Josh Alexander for the World Title at Slammiversary but the show needs some more buildup first. Let’s get to it. The opening recap looks at last week’s main event, with Violent By Design beating Josh Alexander and the Briscoes. We get a new opening sequence, complete with a THIS IS TNA voiceover, albeit set to the current roster. Mia Yim vs. Savannah Evans Deonna Purrazzo is on commentary and Tasha Steelz is here with Evans. The entrances let commentary explain the still rather complicated Queen Of The Mountain rules. Yim fires off knees to start and sends Evans down early. Evans is right back with a DDT for two as Purrazzo talks about how she never neede..
Impact Wrestling Date: May 26, 2022 Location: Osceola Heritage Park, Kissimmee, Florida Commentators: Matthew Rehwoldt, Tom Hannifan We are well on the way to Slammiversary and that means it is time to build towards the matches that are already set for the show. This includes the World Title match of Josh Alexander defending against Eric Young, which will probably be built up a bit more this week. Let’s get to it. We open with a recap of last week’s main event, with the Briscoes retaining the Tag Team Titles over Violent By Design. This set up a post match staredown also involving Josh Alexander. Opening sequence. Ultimate X Qualifying Match: Alex Shelley vs. Trey Miguel We get a respectful handshake to start until Shelley grabs a hammerlock. Miguel spins out of that in a hurry though and we’re at a standoff. A whip into the ropes doesn’t work for Shelley, as Miguel is right there with a few kicks to the arm. Shelley sends him outside though and there’s the baseball slide to stagge..
Impact Wrestling Date: May 19, 2022 Location: Promowest Pavilion, Newport, Kentucky Commentators: Tom Hannifan, Matthew Rehwoldt We are on the way to Slammiversary and as of last week, we have a new #1 contender. Eric Young won Gauntlet For The Gold to earn the title shot against World Champion Josh Alexander, but that leaves a lot of the card to be filled in. This week will feature the Briscoes defending the Tag Team Titles against Violent By Design in an Under Siege rematch so let’s get to it. We open with a recap of last week’s Gauntlet For The Gold, with Eric Young beating Chris Sabin to win the title shot. Opening sequence. Ultimate X Qualifying Match: Laredo Kid vs. Mike Bailey The winner moves on to Slammiversary. They trade legsweeps and no counts to start before flipping to their feet. An exchange of armdrags sends Bailey outside but he blocks a dive with a kick of his own. Back in and the fans are behind Bailey as he kicks Kid down for two more. The exchange of kicks goes..
Impact Wrestling Date: May 12, 2022 Location: Promowest Pavilion, Newport, Kentucky Commentators: Tom Hannifan, Matthew Rehwoldt We’re done with Under Siege and that means we need a new #1 contender. Josh Alexander successfully defended the World Title against Tomohiro Ishii so now it’s time for something new. That means the return of the Gauntlet For The Gold, a huge gauntlet match, to crown a new #1 contender. Let’s get to it. Tom Hannifan and Matthew Rehwoldt are in the ring to hype up the Gauntlet For The Gold. Video on Gauntlet For The Gold. Ultimate X Qualifying Match: Chris Bey vs. Kenny King The winner is in the Ultimate X X-Division Title match at Slammiversary and Maria Kanellis-Bennett is on commentary. King takes him down with a headlock to start but gets armdragged into an armbar. A dropkick puts King on the floor, where he gets knocked down again for a bonus. Back in and King hits some running knees in the corner for two, followed by a snap powerslam for the same. Th..
Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Bound For Glory 2020 Date: October 24, 2020 Location: Skyway Studios, Nashville, Tennessee Commentators: Don Callis, Josh Matthews It’s the biggest night of the year, or at least it is on paper. Bound For Glory has long since been the top show in the company, though Slammiversary tends to be more fun. Maybe they can change things around a bit this year, though the card isn’t giving me the best vibes. Let’s get to it. Pre-Show: Deaners vs. Rascalz Dez and Wentz for the Rascalz. The Deaners start with the double t..
You might remember him. There are a lot of talented wrestlers in the world today but there are only so many spots for them on the biggest stage. WWE has let a lot of wrestlers go over the last year or so and some of them have popped up elsewhere. That can make for some interesting debuts when they show up in another promotion, which was the case again this weekend. Matthew Rehwoldt, formerly known as Aiden English in WWE, made his Impact Wrestling debut at their Homecoming event on Saturday. Rehwoldt and Deonna Purrazzo teamed up to win the Homecoming Tournament, earning the titles of King and Queen of Impact. After debuting with WWE in 2012, Rehwoldt was released from the company on April 15, 2020. A vignette aired announcing his debut with the company at last week’s Slammiversary event. Rehwoldt is a surprise addition. Check out his time in the ring: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] ..
Impact Wrestling Date: July 22, 2021 Location: Skyway Studios, Nashville, Tennessee Commentators: Matt Striker, D’Lo Brown We are finally done with Slammiversary, which wound up being a heck of a show with a lot of surprises. Kenny Omega retained the World Title by defeating Sami Callihan but New Japan’s Jay White showed up to end the show in a big surprise. It’s time to start the long form crawl towards Bound For Glory so let’s get to it. We open with a long recap of the title matches at Slammiversary. Opening sequence, with a new version of the theme song. Chris Bey vs. Rohit Raju Shera is here with Raju and this is fallout from both of them losing Ultimate X. Feeling out process to start with Raju grabbing a headlock. That goes nowhere as Bey takes him down, followed by both of them catching a boot to the ribs at the same time. Back up and they run the ropes until Raju sweeps the leg to take him down. Raju is sent to the apron, where he manages to snap the back of the neck over ..

Slammiversary 2021 Date: July 17, 2021 Location: Skyway Studios, Nashville, Tennessee Commentators: Matt Striker, D’Lo Brown This show has become the highlight of the Impact Wrestling calendar as I have had a better time with it than Bound For Glory for a long time now. With some luck, that can continue this time around as the show is pretty well stacked. We have the main event of World Champion Kenny Omega defending against Sami Callihan in a No DQ match, plus a few mystery spots to be filled. Let’s get to it. P..
Impact Wrestling Date: July 15, 2021 Location: Skyway Studios, Nashville, Tennessee Commentators: Josh Matthews, D’Lo Brown It’s the go home show for Slammiversary and that should make for a different kind of night. The card is set, but there are still a few things that could use a bit more of a boost. Impact has a tendency to do well around this time of year and we might be in for some more teasing of some new arrivals. Let’s get to it. Opening recap. We get a video from Sami Callihan, who wants his Slammiversary World Title match against Kenny Omega to be a No DQ match. Tenille Dashwood/Kaleb With A K vs. Rachael Ellering/Jordynne Grace Grace cranks on Kaleb With A K’s hand to start and plants him with a release side slam. There isn’t much of a challenge here so Grace throws him into the corner for a tag to Dashwood. Ellering comes in with a World’s Strongest Slam and everything breaks down in a hurry. Stereo spinebusters plant Dashwood and Kaleb With A K to put them both down. ..
