The problem behind the scenes has been the contract negotiations between Styles and WWE have dragged on for months with the two parties being unable to agree on some major details of a new contract. The event is being used to promote the UK series that is currently being developed. However, that isn’t what WWE officials originally had in mind for the United Kingdom tournament. The original concept was to bring back the “King of the Ring” tournament for the event and use it as a launching pad for the UK series. Last week, it was reported that Daniel Bryan was asking for a “reasonable amount of creative control” in his new contract with WWE. The latest update claims WWE officials have offered him a three years extension, but Bryan hasn’t signed a new deal just yet. According to a report from DirtySheets, John Cena could be causing some major issues between Bryan and WWE officials. Apparently, Cena advised him to hire ICM Partners to negotiate his contract extension with the company. On this episode, Russo will discuss the events leading up to and during WCW’s Bash at the Beach PPV on July 9th, 2000.</p><p>Lane says that he was 21 years old at the time and he watched this PPV live. He thought the entire thing was a <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/shoot/" title="shoot">shoot</a></strong> and even the dirt sheets reported that it was a shoot at that time. It wasn’t until years later when he was smartened up by a friend, who Russo had told that the <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/whole/" title="whole">whole</a></strong> thing was a work. Russo says that even to this day, people ask him if that <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/angle/" title="angle">angle</a></strong> was a work or not.</p><p></p><p>Russo says that he never watches his old shows because it really hurts him to do so. For so long people have criticized him for ‘killing WCW’ and while it never made any sense to him, he allowed it to get to him. After watching this show, he thinks that premise is hilarious. This PPV occurred three months before he left the company, and the audience is insanely hot and 100% into the product for the entire duration of the show.</p><p>He says that the more he thinks about it, he was completely set up by Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan. The things that he’s about to say regarding Bischoff on his show today are not new, and he’d say it to Bischoff’s face if Bischoff were to come on the show to discuss it.</p>

<p>Russo is joined on today’s show by his co-host Jeff Lane and Glenn Gilbertti (Disco Inferno)</p><p>Gilbertti discusses WWE’s steadily dropping ratings. He says that wrestling is a star-driven business, and until WWE finds another Austin or Rock, their business is going to suffer. It’s pretty incredible to think that the biggest star in Hollywood was actually a professional wrestler on WWE’s roster for a number of years. Since Rock left, they haven’t been able to fill that void.</p><p>Lane points out that WWE might be turning away the next Austin or Rock because they’re too busy looking for the best ‘workers’. Gilbertti says that today’s promos are all heavily scripted and none of the competitors are able to deliver the promos believably. He says it’s almost like all the talents are in a library because none of them even <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/raise/" title="raise">raise</a></strong> their voices while delivering a promo.</p><p></p><p>Lane informs that Al Snow was arrested late last week because of a typo in the police’s systems. Lane thinks it’s ridiculous that all the dirt sheets posted a picture of Snow’s mug shot, taking advantage of this unfortunate situation.</p><p>Gilbertti says that whenever anyone with any notoriety gets arrested their mug shot is going to be posted on the news and online. That’s simply the way it is. Russo says that he does <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/agree/" title="agree">agree</a></strong> with the <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/heart/" title="heart">heart</a></strong> of Lane’s point, in that the dirt sheets continuously post these stories as ‘news’ when they’re nothing more than errors and lies most of the time.</p>
