Weekend Title Change Could Impact More Than One Promotion

That could shake things up a bit. The wrestling world has changed a lot in recent years and a lot of that has had to do with how many more options wrestling fans have. Fans today can see more wrestling than ever before and it opens up so many more doors for them. Some of the promotions today are willing to work together, and a title change that took place over the weekend could affect more than one of them. Kamille became the new NWA Women’s Champion over the weekend at NWA When Our Shadows Fall, defeating Serena Deeb to win the title. The NWA Women’s Title has been used by All Elite Wrestling over the course of AEW’s existence, including as recently as last week’s Double Or Nothing Buy-In show. There is no word on if the title will continued to be defended on AEW programming, though previous champion Thunder Rosa defended the title in AEW. AJ Styles dropping the WWE Championship to Daniel Bryan on SmackDown Live this week was a surprise. However, it turns out there’s more happening with Styles behind the scenes. According to a report from DirtySheets, the company didn’t want to book Styles to lose against Brock Lesnar for the second straight year. The problem behind the scenes has been the contract negotiations between Styles and WWE have dragged on for months with the two parties being unable to agree on some major details of a new contract. Here’s How Vince McMahon Wants to Use The Velveteen Dream at the Main Roster

The Velveteen Dream is one of the most interesting gimmicks on all of WWE television because almost no one thought it would work in the beginning. The NXT Universe has embraced the gimmick. “The Dream” put on a great performance and almost captured the NXT Championship from Tommaso Ciampa during NXT Takeover: War Games II. At 23 years old, the sky is the limit for the young performer that most people are calling a “prodigy.” However, there’s a lot of concern regarding how The Velveteen Dream will be used on the main roster eventually. In particular, some people are very concerned if Vince McMahon will provide him the opportunity to connect with the WWE Universe. Real Reason Why Roman Reigns is WWE’s Top Merchandise Seller Revealed

Recently, it was reported on WrestlingRumors that Roman Reigns had surpassed John Cena as WWE’s top merchandise seller. On paper, that’s a good thing. A lot of fans and analysts question how Cena’s sales are still so high despite barely being on WWE TV. Others have blamed Roman’s complex dynamic with the WWE Universe as the reason why he hasn’t surpassed Cena until now. However, DirtySheets has revealed the details behind WWE’s merchandise sales and why Roman Reigns is considered the top seller. Related: WWE Officials Blame Jinder Mahal For Lackluster Roman Reigns Feud According to the report, “The Big Dog’s” individual merchandise sales are not strong at all. By item, Roman’s merchandise sales have been disappointing, but his numbers are so high because of the number of items being sold. A top wrestler like Seth Rollins has two shirts and maybe a few small items during a WWE event. Roman Reigns can have as many as ten or more items available for purchase during a WWE live event. A..

WWE Officials Cancel King of the Ring Tournament

On June 18th and 19th, the United Kingdom Championship tournament will be filmed in the Royal Albert Hall in London. It will air a week later on the WWE Network. The event is being used to promote the UK series that is currently being developed. However, that isn’t what WWE officials originally had in mind for the United Kingdom tournament. The original concept was to bring back the “King of the Ring” tournament for the event and use it as a launching pad for the UK series. According to a report from DirtySheets, the original plans for the UK King of the Ring tournament were rumored. There was a lot of speculation from the WWE Universe about the concept coming back this year. Related: “King of the Ring” Could Be Returning to WWE However, Triple H and WWE never specifically mentioned or promoted the tournament with King of the Ring attached to it. As a result, it was easy to scrap those plans. It’s still plausible WWE could be planning a surprise for the event, but that seems very un..

Rumor: John Cena Causing Major Problems Between Daniel Bryan and WWE

Last week, it was reported that Daniel Bryan was asking for a “reasonable amount of creative control” in his new contract with WWE. The latest update claims WWE officials have offered him a three years extension, but Bryan hasn’t signed a new deal just yet. According to a report from DirtySheets, John Cena could be causing some major issues between Bryan and WWE officials. Apparently, Cena advised him to hire ICM Partners to negotiate his contract extension with the company. ICM Partners are telling Bryan to begin negotiations asking for as much as possible before re-signing with the company. Related: Daniel Bryan Asking For Major Stipulation in New WWE Contract The expectation for Bryan is the extension will be his final deal with WWE. As a result, he’s looking to get a lot more money and perks, especially since he had to fight for over two years just to get back into the ring. More importantly, WWE officials know Bryan has options outside of the company and could wrestle anywhere ..

Here’s Why Vince McMahon Has Lost Interest in Bobby Roode

During his time on SmackDown Live, Bobby Roode became a babyface and eventually won the United States Championship. The WWE Universe was expecting more from him with WWE, but his move to Raw after WrestleMania 34 seemed to be another chance. He’s set to participate in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match, but no one is expecting him to win the briefcase. It seems that his fans should not expect anything bigger and better from Roode in the future. Apparently, Vince McMahon has lost interest in him. Related: Bobby Roode Comments On The Popularity Of His ‘Glorious’ Entrance According to a rumor from DirtySheets, Vince McMahon was unimpressed during his time on SmackDown Live. During his feud with Dolph Ziggler, The Boss compared the crowd response to his entrance to The Show Off’s. That was enough for McMahon to make up his mind about him and Roode has yet to change Vince’s mind about him. It doesn’t help that Roode is a natural heel. He’s been playing a babyface since debuting on the m..

WWE Canceled Major Plans For The Undertaker Before Match With John Cena

After weeks of being called out by John Cena, The Undertaker returned and dominated him at WrestleMania 34 in a squash match. It was not what the WWE Universe had in mind for their match, but that wasn’t what WWE officials had originally planned either. The action inside the ring went down exactly how it was intended, but the powers that be had other plans for The Deadman’s entrance. According to a report from DirtySheets, the original plan was to have the classic Undertaker entrance for only thirty seconds. Related: The Undertaker vs. John Cena: WWE Turns the Corner at WrestleMania After entering the Superdome with his normal theatrics, The Undertaker would have pulled an American flag out of his cloak. Kid Rock would have taken the stage and The Deadman would have finished his entrance to his “American Bad Ass” theme song. Those plans were scrapped during the weekend after Kid Rock’s Hall of Fame speech included some controversial political views. The company didn’t want to make ..

Vince Russo’s The Brand Recap – Charlotte Struggling on Smackdown, Wrestling Needs Gimmicks, Does Enzo Have Heat Backstage? More!

Russo is joined on today’s show by his co-host Jeff Lane, and they will attempt to ‘castrate the marks and their dirt sheets’.

Russo points out that this is all in good fun for him, and he doesn’t hate any of these men. Unfortunately, there seems to be some real hatred on the other side of the fence from guys like Wade Keller, Ryan Satin and Mike Johnson. To show his respect to Dave Meltzer, whose father passed away this week, Russo will not be discussing Meltzer’s comments this week.

The first clip of the day presents Bryan Alvarez ranting about the fact that WWE broke up Enzo and Big Cass. Alvarez says that there’s no wonder WWE’s ratings are declining when they decided to break up one of the more popular acts on their roster due to their constant search for ‘heat’.

Russo says that there’s something political going on in the background. He’s heard rumblings of Amore’s backstage issues stemming back to his time in NXT and that probably carried over to the main roster. Quite frankly, Alvarez is right in this case because Enzo and Cass were over, and the fans loved them. However, Russo’s smart enough to understand that heat draws money, and since Cass turned on Enzo the fans have been chanting Enzo’s name with more passion than ever before.

Vince Russo’s The Brand Recap – Analyzing Bash at the Beach 2000, Getting ‘Screwed’ by Bischoff & Hogan, Shoot or Work? More!

Russo is joined on today’s show by his co-host Jeff Lane. On this episode, Russo will discuss the events leading up to and during WCW’s Bash at the Beach PPV on July 9th, 2000.

Lane says that he was 21 years old at the time and he watched this PPV live. He thought the entire thing was a shoot and even the dirt sheets reported that it was a shoot at that time. It wasn’t until years later when he was smartened up by a friend, who Russo had told that the whole thing was a work. Russo says that even to this day, people ask him if that angle was a work or not.

Russo says that he never watches his old shows because it really hurts him to do so. For so long people have criticized him for ‘killing WCW’ and while it never made any sense to him, he allowed it to get to him. After watching this show, he thinks that premise is hilarious. This PPV occurred three months before he left the company, and the audience is insanely hot and 100% into the product for the entire duration of the show.

He says that the more he thinks about it, he was completely set up by Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan. The things that he’s about to say regarding Bischoff on his show today are not new, and he’d say it to Bischoff’s face if Bischoff were to come on the show to discuss it.

Vince Russo’s The Brand Recap – Al Snow’s Arrest, Critical Analysis of Japanese ‘Strong Style’, WWE Live Events Struggling, More!

Russo is joined on today’s show by his co-host Jeff Lane and Glenn Gilbertti (Disco Inferno)

Gilbertti discusses WWE’s steadily dropping ratings. He says that wrestling is a star-driven business, and until WWE finds another Austin or Rock, their business is going to suffer. It’s pretty incredible to think that the biggest star in Hollywood was actually a professional wrestler on WWE’s roster for a number of years. Since Rock left, they haven’t been able to fill that void.

Lane points out that WWE might be turning away the next Austin or Rock because they’re too busy looking for the best ‘workers’. Gilbertti says that today’s promos are all heavily scripted and none of the competitors are able to deliver the promos believably. He says it’s almost like all the talents are in a library because none of them even raise their voices while delivering a promo.

Lane informs that Al Snow was arrested late last week because of a typo in the police’s systems. Lane thinks it’s ridiculous that all the dirt sheets posted a picture of Snow’s mug shot, taking advantage of this unfortunate situation.

Gilbertti says that whenever anyone with any notoriety gets arrested their mug shot is going to be posted on the news and online. That’s simply the way it is. Russo says that he does agree with the heart of Lane’s point, in that the dirt sheets continuously post these stories as ‘news’ when they’re nothing more than errors and lies most of the time.
