Former WWE Star: “I’m Responsible For AEW”

Call it an assist? The rise of AEW has changed the way the wrestling world in a huge way. Rather than being dominated by WWE, the industry now has another style in AEW, which presents wrestling in a bit of a different way. That way was developed by a few different names coming together, but now another wrestling star is laying claim to coming up with the story that AEW is known for using. During an interview with Not Sam Wrestling, former WWE and AEW star Matt Cardona (better known as Zack Ryder) said that his previous efforts led to the rise of AEW and Being The Elite. Cardona said that his Z! True Long Island Story show caused the creation of Being The Elite, which led to the formation of AEW. Z! True Long Island Story debuted in February 2011 and ended in January 2013 after 100 episodes. Cardona wrestled a pair of matches with AEW in 2020. Opinion: It might sound like a big exaggeration but at the end of the day, Cardona did something that led to a major development in wrestling. ..

Conflicting Reports Regarding AEW’s Use Of Thunder Rosa’s Friends

He would know better. There are a lot of people needed to make a wrestling show work. While the stars and familiar names are the ones who receive the most attention, several other people are also included in a variety of roles. That is the case with some of the wrestlers who are there to make others look good and now there is some controversy about a statement involving some of them. Earlier this year, AEW Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa was forced to take time away from the ring due to a back injury. According to this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, since Rosa’s hiatus began, her friends, including names such as KiLynn King, Madi Wrenkowski and Jazmin Allure have not been used as AEW extras. AEW’s Shawn Dean has responded to the report, denying the report and saying those women are all in good standing with the company. Dean is responsible for choosing the extra talent for AEW events. It’s the kind of careless reporting like this causing unnecessary issues and problems for no re..

A Former WWE World Champion May Be Getting A Renewed Push Soon

Get ready for more of him. NXT is in a strange position as it has to do two things at once. In addition to being the WWE’s third brand, it is also the company’s official developmental program. As a result, NXT is designed to send stars up to the main roster, which has a hit or miss record. Now that there is a new boss in WWE, a former star from his time in NXT might be getting another big chance. According to Fightful Select, WWE is working on plans to bring Kevin Owens back to television. Owens has not wrestled or appeared since Money In The Bank in July and is not injured. There has been fan speculation that he could get a stronger push now that Triple H is in charge of WWE Creative. Triple H was responsible for giving Owens his push in NXT, as well as being paired with him on television when Owens was Universal Champion. Opinion: I would certainly hope that Owens would be given a better chance in WWE. Owens has been up and down lately to say the least, as he was doing very little,..

Important Clarification On Stephanie McMahon’s WWE Hiatus, Vince McMahon Not Involved

That’s a different way to go. The McMahons have been around the wrestling world for a very long time now and are the most powerful family in all of wrestling. However, for the first time in a very long time now, there is one McMahon working in WWE. This comes after Stephanie McMahon has taken a leave of absence from the company. It seems that there might be more to it than it seems though. Last week, stories began to surface about Vince McMahon possibly being the reason for Stephanie McMahon taking a hiatus from WWE. Stephanie was said to have done poorly in her new roles with the company, but according to Fightful Select, Vince was not responsible. Some of WWE President Nick Khan’s team had said Stephanie needed to improve in some areas but it was not enough for her to leave. The decision was said to be Stephanie’s own choice, though it is not clear when or if she will be returning. Opinion: This is the kind of thing that could go in a few ways, but it does seem like Stephanie just ..

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE “Beats The Creative” Out Of Its Creative Team

That isn’t a good thing to see. There are several common criticisms of WWE these days and a lot of them seem to be focused on the way WWE presents its storylines. This is often blamed on the creative team, but the situation is a little more complicated than that. WWE has all kinds of people on its creative team, but that comes with some issues of its own. Now we know something more about how things tend to go. According to the Mat Men Pro Wrestling podcast, WWE writers have said that WWE “beats the creativity out of you”, with some of the writers having lost all of their confidence in their abilities. This comes despite the writers having experience on top level television shows. WWE creative is responsible for coming up with the ways stories are presented, though Vince McMahon has the final say on who is pushed in what way. Opinion: Is this a surprise in any way? WWE has a long history of turnover on the creative team with all kinds of stories about how they are often seen as being ..

WWE Confirms New Lead Monday Night Raw Broadcaster

You may have heard of him. A commentator is one of the most important parts of a wrestling show. They are responsible for sending the show in the right direction, as they are the lone constant throughout the night. Above all else, commentators can tell the fans what they need to hear and know, which is rather important on a show like Monday Night Raw. Now a new name is going to get the chance to lead the charge. WWE has announced that Jimmy Smith will be the new lead broadcaster for Monday Night Raw starting on the May 31 show. Smith is a former host of American Ninja Warrior and has appeared on NXT Kick-Off Show panels in the past, along with various other special projects for NXT. The rest of the broadcast team, including Corey Graves and Byron Saxton, will remain the same. The move comes after Adnan Virk announced his departure from WWE earlier this week, citing issues with travel causing an impact on his family. Virk had only started calling the show the night after WrestleMania ..

Hold On: WWE Changes Course On Firing Over Garbage Bag Situation

Well that didn’t take long. This week saw a surprising story out of WWE as stories began to emerge of WWE returning released wrestlers’ belongings in garbage bags. Triple H and Stephanie McMahon heard about this and took action, firing the person involved. As a result, some people were fired from the company, including some people who had been around for a very long time. This seemed to be part of a big shakeup in the talent relations department, but one of those shakes might have been unshaken. According to PWInsider.com, WWE has already changed their minds on removing John Cone from his job in the talent relations department. Cone, who also works for WWE as a referee, was removed from his position on Thursday, following the garbage back story breaking. There is nothing to suggest that Cone himself was responsible for what was done. Cone also works as a referee for the company, in addition to being Senior Manager of Talent Relations. WWE legend Mick Foley had not been happy with the..

WWE Taking Over Superstars’ Twitch Accounts This Month

And there’s the next step. One of the more interesting stories of the year has been WWE cracking down on its wrestlers being involved with third party platforms. This includes thins like Cameo, but more importantly Twitch, which has become a rather nice side business for WWE. That has allowed some wrestlers to gain a following outside of the ring, but also a lot of money, which has caught WWE’s attention. Now the company is doing something about it. This is the kind of a situation which has set off quite the discussion in WWE. The argument becomes whether the company or the wrestlers themselves are responsible for the success. It is a case where you can see both sides, but it is a little hard to get around the idea that the wrestlers are independent contractors when they have these restrictions put on them. Things have gotten even more interesting in a new move. According to Wrestlinginc.com, WWE will be taking over the wrestlers’ Twitch accounts in four weeks. The wrestlers will sti..

Shayna Baszler Rips Becky Lynch For “Irresponsible” Pregnancy

That’s getting a little serious. One of the biggest moments of the year saw Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch announce that she was pregnant, meaning that she would be vacating the title. This changed everything around for the Raw Women’s division and a lot of WWE as a whole. It was a very cool moment for a lot of people, but that wasn’t the case for everyone. There are very few people who came to the main roster with such a reputation as Shayna Baszler. She had held the NXT Women’s Title for more combined days than anyone in history and had seemed ready to be heading to the main roster for a long time. Baszler unsuccessfully challenged Lynch for the Raw Women’s Title at WrestleMania 36, which put her in a bit of a bad mood. She let that be known this week. Baszler was a guest on this week’s edition of the Bump and discussed her thoughts on Lynch’s pregnancy. During the interview, Baszler called Lynch irresponsible and her pregnancy garbage, saying Lynch should take care of her respon..

WWE Scores Major Win In A Variety Of Lawsuits

So much for that. WWE is a huge wrestling company. Actually they’re a pretty big company no matter what profession we’re talking about. They have very deep pockets and all kinds of resources. That means people are going to come after them, even if there’s not much validity to the claims made. Some of those claims were brought up again in recent years, but this time they’re going in WWE’s favor. According to PWInsider.com, a US District Court Judge in Connecticut has dismissed all lawsuits currently against WWE in regards to concussions. The lawsuits, many of which have been filed by attorney Konstantine Kyros over the last several years, claimed that WWE was responsible for a variety of head injuries due to not properly advising the wrestlers on the risk of such injuries. I wonder if the lawsuit went like this. [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: That’s about the only way it could have gone. At the end of the day, wrestlers have to know what kind of risks they’re ta..

Roman Reigns Responsible For Recent Rise of Independent Wrestling

For the past four years, WWE officials have been promoting Roman Reigns as the top babyface in the company. He’s main evented the last four WrestleMania events, but he is still routinely booed out of arenas on a regular basis. That’s why some fans are very unhappy and don’t believe he deserves his position in the company and on WWE TV. His critics are too busy criticizing how he continuously impacts WWE programming in a negative way to realize the positive effect he has on the industry as a whole. According to RingSideNews, Reigns might be responsible for the growth of the independent scenes. Related: Roman Reigns Doesn’t Care If You Boo Him And Neither Does WWE One of the common complaints is WWE doing what is best for the company and not for the fans. That’s allowed more wrestling fans to get their wrestling elsewhere and more independent promotions and shows are willing to give their consumer what they want because they don’t have to deal with sponsors or certain restrictions lik..

Matt Hardy & Bray Wyatt Respond To The Rumors Of Wyatt Turning On Hardy And Becoming The Leader Of 'SAnitY'

The "Woken" bond soon to be "Broken"? Dating back to late 2017 Bray Wyatt & Matt Hardy have been feuding with one another and Bray Wyatt is the man responsible for bringing the unforsaken vessel of Matt Hardy out to the WWE Universe. When the two unusual characters went to war in the 'Ultimate Deletion' match on the March 19th edition of RAW, they tried to take one another out but ultimately "The Eater Of Worlds" was "deleted" and tossed into the 'Lake Of Reincarnation' by one Matthew Hardy. Aside from live events Bray Wyatt would not be seen on WWE programming until WrestleMania 34 where he played a major role in Matt Hardy becoming the winner of the 'Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal'. A DELIGHTFUL assist from @WWEBrayWyatt makes #WOKEN @MATTHARDYBRAND the 2018 #AndreTheGiant Memorial Battle Royal winner! pic.twitter.com/lFqCzGvBKw — WWE WrestleMania (@WrestleMania) April 8, 2018 On post-WrestleMania edition of RAW it was clear that Bray Wyatt&#..

Vince McMahon’s XFL Revival Already Has Some Early Competition

Vince McMahon only recently revealed the revival of the XFL but it seems that alongside the pre-existing NFL, McMahon may have new competition and he is very familiar with the man responsible for it. The name behind this competition is Charlie Ebersol, someone very familiar to McMahon. Ebersol’s father Dick was a longtime NBC executive and actually helped McMahon launch the original XFL years ago, with Ebersol himself directing the recent ESPN 30 for 30 documentary on the failed launch of the original XFL. Today, Ebersol has announced the formation of the Alliance of American Football. According to WrestlingInc, Ebersol plans to launch the AAF on CBS on February 9, 2019 which is set to follow the NFL’s Super Bowl. This is much sooner than the XFL, which is set to begin in early 2020. Dick will serve on a board of directors alongside former NFL stars Hines Ward, Justin Tuck, and Jared Allen. Their goals are similar to that of the XFL, with good seats supposedly costing around $35. E..

Jim Ross Seriously Doubts Daniel Bryan Will Ever Wrestle Again

As noted over the weekend, Daniel Bryan teased on social media that he could possibly return to Ring of Honor and challenge Cody Rhodes for the ROH Title once his contract with WWE expires. Jim Ross took to his blog on JrsBarBq.com and made the following remarks regarding Bryan possibly returning to the ring again:

“Seems as if Daniel Bryan is having some fun trolling social media as he teases a return to the ring which I seriously doubt will or should ever happen. If his existing medical condition put DB in a higher risk category, then he needs to be the responsible husband and father and refrain from lacing up his boots again. Don’t get me wrong, if DB could safely resume his career I’d be all for it as he is one of the great talents in recent memory.”

You can check out the full blog entry here.
