Update: Bad News On Jonathan Gresham’s Health Status

That doesn’t sound good. An injury is one of the worst things that you can see in wrestling as you never know how long someone is going to be out of action. What can make it even worse is the kind of injury that is under the surface and has no real timetable to heal up. That is the case again with a current prominent star, and now things are already looking a bit worse. Earlier this week, Ring Of Honor World Champion Jonathan Gresham suffered a possible concussion in a match against Dalton Castle at AEW Battle Of The Belts II. The injury has not yet been confirmed, but Progress Wrestling has announced that Gresham will be missing his appearances for the company in the UK this weekend. The company did say that he will be back in action on May 15. There is no word on when Gresham might be wrestling before then. Regrettably, due to injury, Jonathan Gresham is not medically cleared to make the trip to the UK this weekend. Replacements will be named shortly for both #AtlasWeekend events. ..

Since WWE Said No: AEW Bringing In Another Top Free Agent Star

That doesn’t sound like a swerve. The wrestling landscape has changed in all kinds of ways in recent years and there is nothing to suggest that it is going to change anytime soon. The biggest changes have come due to the massive releases from the WWE roster, as around two hundred wrestlers have been let go in the last two years. A lot of those wrestlers have landed elsewhere and now another is off the free agent market. According to Fightful Select, Shane “Swerve” Strickland will be joining AEW. This comes after Strickland, also known as Isaiah Scott, was released from WWE in November 2021. There is no word on when he will be making his AEW debut. Since leaving WWE, Strickland has wrestled a pair of matches with one match each for Progress Wrestling and New Japan Strong. Opinion: This is a signing that was more a matter of time than a question of where Strickland was going to sign. I still have no idea what WWE was thinking when they let Strickland (and the rest of Hit Row) go but th..

WWE RUMOR: Behind The Scenes Shakeup Takes Place In NXT UK

It’s time to shake things up a bit. NXT UK debuted just under two years ago and went on to become a rather entertaining weekly wrestling show. Their Takeover main events have been outstanding and there is no reason to believe they can’t pick things up where they left off before the Coronavirus hit. Hopefully that is the case, but things are already changing in a big way. Every now and then, you need some kind of a shakeup on any wrestling show. At some point, no matter how good things are going, it can start to get a little stale, either in front of or behind the camera. At that point it is time to mix things up a bit and if it is done right, the show can get a lot better in a hurry. If it doesn’t go so well though, it can be a quick fall from grace. Hopefully it is the former this time around. According to the Inside The Ropes podcast, NXT UK producer and former Progress Wrestling co-owner Glen Joseph has left the company due to personal reasons. As a result, Jim Smallman, also the ..

WWE Pressures Independent Companies To Stop Using Star

That’s a big company for you. Whether you like them or not, the WWE is the most powerful wrestling company in the world. If they want someone or something, odds are they are going to be able to get it in the end. That’s how things have worked for a long time and it turns out that they can influence other companies at the same time. That is what they are doing now and a wrestler is suffering as a result. Ever since professional wrestling began, the idea of a wrestlers’ union has never come to pass. It is something that would be a huge problem for the promoters, which is why they have wanted to prevent anything from ever coming together. That may or may not be a good idea, but it is what WWE is going to do every time they have to. They did it again, and this time it is doing some damage to a wrestler’s career. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has pressured both Westside Xtreme Wrestling (German) and Progress Wrestling (England) to move away from David Starr, an indep..

The Big Daddy. WWE Signs A Major Name For NXT UK.

That’s a big one. The WWE has gone out of their way to expand the NXT UK brand. After this weekend’s announcement of the first ever NXT UK Takeover, it’s clear that WWE has some big plans around here. The talent is already there on the brand, but you need some big names in there to really make an impact. Sometimes you need a big name here or there, and that’s what WWE seems to have done. According to PWInsider.com, WWE has signed top European name WALTER (as it is spelled). The current Progress Wrestling World Champion, WALTER is a big man who wrestles a power style and is well known for his chops. He recently dropped the PWG World Title, which may have been for the sake of signing with WWE. At the moment this would be for the NXT UK brand only, though there is a chance that he could come over to work some regular NXT dates. You’re going to need to get used to this guy. He’s got some crazy chops: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: You had to know this was coming on..

Update On United Kingdom Promotions Possibly Coming To WWE Network

There’s more than enough room. The WWE Network has been an amazing gift to wrestling fans. Starting just over four years ago, the WWE Network is now the go to place for the most wrestling content in the world, including the majority of WWE’s material from history and hosts of other promotions’ video libraries. However, there’s other wrestling in the world to be seen, so what can they do? Well how about coming under the WWE umbrella? According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there is a strong chance that Insane Championship Wrestling (a Scottish promotion) and Progress Wrestling (a British promotion) will be brought to the WWE Network in the near future. This idea has been considered for a long time now but Vince McMahon reportedly changed his mind again and allowed the idea. While no date has been confirmed, there is a chance that the announcement could come as soon as the United Kingdom Championship Tournament events in London next month. WWE and Progress worked together for th..
