They’re up next. We are in the middle of a weird era in wrestling, as fans have been wanting to see more about the history of the industry. This has led to a series of books, films and television series about wrestling. There are all kinds of stories to be seen in the wrestling world and WWE has gotten in on the idea as well. Now we are getting to see what they have in store next. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: Major Title Change Planned Before WrestleMania 39 Over the last two years, WWE has worked with A&E to produce episodes of A&E’s Biography series on various WWE and wrestling legends. According to PWInsider.com, new episodes will begin airing on Sunday February 19, with looks at Dusty Rhodes, Jake Roberts and the NWO, plus more to be announced. In addition, Most Wanted Treasures and Rivals will return with new episodes. Those are some talented stars. Check out some the three of them in action: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, cl..
New, New, New World Order. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel showing the full match between The Outsiders vs. Lex Luger, Sting & Randy Savage from WCW Bash at the Beach 1996. This marked the beginning of Hulk Hogan’s heel turn and the formation of the nWo. You can see the match in its entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] From our own Thomas Hall: The Outsiders, coming to the ring to some generic music (probably for the only time ever in a bit of trivia that no one ever wondered about), have no third man to crank the drama up even higher. Before Team WCW comes out, here is Gene Okerlund to ask the Outsiders what is up. They confirm that the third man is here but they can handle it themselves for now. Tony: “THEN COME OUT HERE AND KICK THEIR TEETH IN RIGHT NOW!!!” Team WCW is all painted up together for a nice touch. Luger starts with….the yet-to-be-named Scott Hall (“This Outsider” according to Tony) and takes him into the corner where Sting tr..
Stables have been a thing in wrestling for a very long time and it isn’t that much of a surprise. A stable allows a lot of wrestlers to get television time together rather than hoping that one or two of them can make it onto the show that week. That is something that has worked for a very long time and still does to this day. It could be as serious as the NWO or as goofy as 3MB but it can still work no matter what. That is the case again, though this week saw what I would consider an upgrade. Back at WrestleMania 38, Damian Priest gave Edge a surprise assist to help him defeat AJ Styles. The two would unite and form the Judgment Day stable, eventually adding Rhea Ripley. While the stable’s mission wasn’t entirely clear, Edge always teased adding new members, which finally took place again this week. It just might not have gone as he had planned. This week on Monday Night Raw, Finn Balor officially joined Judgment Day and almost immediately turned on Edge, laying him out with help fro..
What could have been. Wrestling is often built on nostalgia as it can be rather enticing to see a former star make a return for one reason or another. Sometimes these appearances will involve having another match, but often it works out rather well to just have someone show up and make an appearance. That was going to be the case soon, but plans had to be changed for an awful reason. According to Fightful Select, WWE had begun making plans to bring in the original members of the New World Order for appearances over WrestleMania weekend but the plans were changed due to Scott Hall’s passing earlier this month. The group would have been brought in to help promote the WWE2K22 video game, which features an NWO 4 Life Edition, as well as Hall, both as himself and under his Razor Ramon persona. There is no word on whether WWE is considering bringing in the rest of the group for such appearances. Opinion: That’s a sad thing to hear as the NWO was such an influential group on modern wrestlin..
Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Monday Nitro #79 Date: March 17, 1997 Location: Savannah Civic Center, Savannah, Georgia Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Mike Tenay, Larry Zbyszko, Bobby Heenan It’s the night after Uncensored and the big story is that Sting has declared his loyalty for WCW by attacking the NWO to close the show last night. At the same time though it’s not all good for the purple and gold (WCW for you young people out there) as the NWO won the main event last night, basically giving them unlimited power in the company. There are ele..
We have some sad news to report tonight as WWE Hall of Famer Scott Hall has passed away at the age of 63. From WWE.com: A hugely influential Superstar, Hall began his career in 1984, performing with various organizations across the country before joining World Championship Wrestling in 1991 as The Diamond Studd. In 1992, Hall signed with WWE and introduced fans all over the world to the character of Razor Ramon, becoming a four-time Intercontinental Champion and one of the most enduring personas of WWE’s “New Generation.” He participated in memorable rivalries against Kevin Nash, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, and countless others, with his two Ladder Matches against Michaels at WrestleMania X and SummerSlam 1995 both considered all-time classics by fans and industry insiders alike. In 1996, Hall re-joined World Championship Wrestling and joined Kevin Nash and Hulk Hogan as the founding members of the nWo (New World Order), revolutionizing the sports-entertainment industry and ushering i..
Well, that happened. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel in which they show the full nWo Invitational Battle Royal match from WCW Road Wild 1998. The match featured Goldberg, Scott Hall, Curt Hennig, The Giant, Scott Norton, Sting, Lex Luger, Kevin Nash, and Konnan. You can see the match in its entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] From our own Thomas Hall: You can be eliminated either over the top or by pin/submission. Hall interrupts the ridiculously long entrances with the survey to keep this show going even longer. The NWO factions brawl while Goldberg hides in the corner. That lasts about fifteen seconds before Goldberg goes after Giant, which should have been a regular match tonight in the first place. Again that doesn’t last long and the match breaks down into a regular battle royal. Hall loads up the Outsiders’ Edge on Goldberg but gets backdropped out. Nash eliminates himself (you can’t make up jokes like this) and goes after Hall as Gol..

After a year and a half of being dominated by the NWO, tonight is the night that WCW stands up and says this is our company and you’re not taking us over. WCW has its warrior in Sting and there is no way that Hogan can stop him. Hogan has been running scared of Sting for months and tonight he’s out of places to hide. This is WCW’s night. Let’..

Bash at the Beach 1997 Date: July 13, 1997 Location: Ocean Center, Daytona Beach, Florida Attendance: 7,851 Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Bobby Heenan, Dusty Rhodes It’s 1997 and the unofficial anniversary of the NWO being formed. This was in that weird period for WCW as everything was setting up for Sting vs. Hogan, but at the same time it took forever to get there because we waited 9 months between Sting’s moment of showing he was WCW and the actual match. The main event here is Luger/Giant vs. Hogan/Rodman. As ..
That’s certainly a thing. There are all kinds of wrestlers throughout history and very few of them make any kind of a significant impact. You find them every now and then though, though sometimes they are better known for what they did out of the ring than inside. That is the case with one wrestler in particular and now he has a brand new story which may be a bit hard to believe. Former WWE star Virgil was recently interviewed by Wrestlinginc.com where he said that he and former WCW owner Ted Turner invented the NWO. As a result, Virgil believes that he made Hulk Hogan’s career. In the same interview, he also claims to have invented the Spinarooni when he defeated Alex Wright in a dance off. Virgil also discussed his new Meatsauce Madness game, saying that he was trying it out at Olive Garden. During his trip to the restaurant, Virgil said that he was “guzzling some beef”, to the point where he “guzzled so much I got garlic nipples”, to the point where he became a unicorn. The game w..
This kid has potential. There are very few names in the history of professional wrestling who can come close to Steve Austin. Despite having a relatively short main event run at the top of the company, Austin became one of the biggest stars in the history of professional wrestling. While he is a six time WWE World Champion, he is probably better known for his talking skills, and those were on display again. As part of NWO Week in WWE, Kevin Nash will be appearing on Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions. In an effort to promote the appearance, Austin has released a promo as Hollywood Steve Austin, including NWO style presentation and graphics. Austin also uses various NWO catchphrases from different members. The interview airs on Sunday on the WWE Network and on Peacock. Austin has hosted the Broken Skull Sessions since November 2019 with episodes airing every few months. This has replaced his Steve Austin Show podcast, which ended airing new episodes in 2019. During his career, Austi..
They’re worth another look. There have been some amazing moments in wrestling history but only some are still going to be remembered decades later. That is task to accomplish but when you find something that really hits that mark, you can absolutely feel it. Such a thing happened twenty five years ago this week and WWE is giving it a special look back all week long. WWE has announced NWO Week, which will begin on Monday July 5. The week will include new NWO programming on Peacock/WWE Network, including: The Best Of The NWO (Tuesday) X-Pac on The Bump (Wednesday) Kevin Nash on Broken Skull Sessions (Sunday) NWO week coincides with the debut of the NWO on July 7, 1996, when Hulk Hogan turned on WCW and became Hollywood Hogan at Bash At The Beach 1996. The group went on to dominate WCW for several years before moving on to WWE in 2002. The NWO was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2020. There is a lot of history here. Check out some of the NWO’s moments: [This..

This is a B show with no Hogan, Piper, or anyone else for the most part and a main event of ..
He really is 4 life. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel in which they show what the entrance video would be if John Cena was in the nWo. This is in response to a portion of the Firefly Funhouse match between him and Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 36. You can see the video in its entirety below: From WWE.com: Yet, When Cena swung the chair, Bray vanished, reappearing moments later on the set of WCW Nitro. Now portraying Eric Bischoff, Wyatt introduced “the coolest guy who ever walked the earth,” and Cena entered the scene in a New World Order black-and-white T-shirt, strumming a spray-painted WCW Title like Hollywood Hogan in the late 1990s. Editor’s Opinion: This match was absolutely brilliant. As I mentioned before, this type of match as changed the history of what professional wrestling could be, bending reality and creating fantasy scenarios for the hardcore wrestling fans. Could you imagine John Cena in the nWo in the 1990s? Holy cow, that would have been a game-c..
Smackdown Date: March 6, 2020 Location: Keybank Center, Buffalo, New York Commentators: Michael Cole, Corey Graves It’s the go home show for the Elimination Chamber and we have the two Chamber matches set up. One of them will be a tag team edition, so this week we get to see the six teams fight in another form of an elimination match. This time it’s a gauntlet match with the winners getting to enter the Chamber last. Let’s get to it. We open with a recap of John Cena’s return last week, with the Fiend appearing to set up their Wrestlemania match. Opening sequence. Here are Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross in the ring to talk about the Hall of Fame. We hear about this year’s class and, after calling out the Kabuki Warriors for a Women’s Tag Team Title match, bring out the NWO (Sean Waltman, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall this time) for a chat. Nikki says that she’s been a big NWO fan for life and takes a picture with the three of them. Bliss what they should call Waltman, who says “Hall of Fa..
<p>On this special ‘1 Year Anniversary’ edition of the show, Bischoff and his co-host Nick Hausman go live in order to answer fan questions.</p><p>To start the show, Bischoff says he’s very grateful that <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/shane/" title="Shane">Shane</a></strong> McMahon emerged without injury from a forced landing in a helicopter yesterday. He says he doesn’t know McMahon well, but he knows how much McMahon loves his wife and kids and he was certainly thinking about them during that situation yesterday. In typical McMahon fashion, Shane didn’t really sell anything during his news interview, and Bischoff says that only Shane could top his Hell in the Cell leap by falling out of the sky in a helicopter.</p><p></p><p>A listener calls into the show and asks Bischoff how WWE can get back to the days when they were doing 6.0 and 7.0 ratings. Bischoff says that things have changed so much in the world of entertainment since those days, and there are so many alternative ways to consume programming these days. He doesn’t <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/think/" title="think">think</a></strong> we’ll ever see those types of numbers again, and with respect to the current television landscape, Bischoff thinks that WWE is ‘blowing it out of the water’.</p><p>Another listener calls into the show and asks Bischoff who his favourite member of the nWo was. He says that Hulk Hogan is his best friend, but he also really enjoyed Scott Hall’s performance as a member of the nWo. Hall brought a lot to that group, and then his pairing with <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/kevin/" title="Kevin">Kevin</a></strong> Nash resulted in a terrific tandem. Hall and Nash’s pairing is a perfect example of 1+1=5.</p>
