Monday Night Raw Results – January 2, 2023

Monday Night Raw Date: January 2, 2023 Location: Bridgestone Arena, Nashville, Tennessee Commentators: Kevin Patrick, Corey Graves We are inching closer to the Royal Rumble and that means it is time to start setting up the show. With so many wrestlers needed to get into the Royal Rumble matches, there are only going to be so many spots left for other matches. At the same time though, only one person has been announced for either Royal Rumble so they might want to start picking up the pace. Then again, they might want to have a lot of surprises this time. Let’s get to it. We open with the Bloodline (minus Roman Reigns/Paul Heyman) wrecking havoc at ringside. Sami Zayn says they’re taking over tonight but here is Kevin Owens to interrupt. Sami calls this a hostile takeover but Owens says he wants to punch Zayn in the face. Cue Adam Pearce and company to tell Owens that this isn’t happening tonight or all year. Security goes after the Bloodline but gets dropped, drawing Owens into the r..

It Could Happen: WWE Ready To Name WrestleMania 43 Venue If Major Condition Is Met

That’s a long time. There are a lot of wrestling events held throughout the year but none of them top WrestleMania. For almost forty years, the annual event has become the most important in the business from multiple perspectives. As a result, cities will bid to host the show and it can be quite the financial boon to the local economy. Now, we have an idea of where WrestleMania will be heading down the road. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Switch Em Up: New Theme Music And Ring Name For Monday Night Raw Stars According to the Tennessean (Nashville, Tennessee newspaper), WrestleMania 43 could be coming to Nashville in 2027. Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp. CEO Butch Spyridon has said that WWE offered the city a verbal commitment to host the event if Nashville builds a new enclosed stadium. Impact Wrestling Results – October 6, 2022

Impact Wrestling Date: October 6, 2022 Location: Skyway Studios, Nashville, Tennessee Commentators: Matthew Rehwoldt, Tom Hannifan It’s the go home show for Bound For Glory, which is tomorrow for whatever reason they have come up with this time. That is one of those things that is always a little weird and I can’t quite get into the idea here either. The good thing is that the card is already set so we should be in for the hard sell this time around. Let’s get to it. In Memory of Antonio Inoki. Opening recap. Kenny King vs. Frankie Kazarian They fight over a lockup to start and go long enough that it has to be broken up in the corner. Some armdrags take King down but it’s way too early for the chickenwing, meaning Kazarian has to settle for a hammerlock. The Royal Flush is countered as well and Kazarian takes him down with a clotheslines. That just earns him a dropkick out to the floor, followed by the springboard spinning legdrop to give King two back inside. The seated abdominal..

Impact Wrestling Results – September 29, 2022

Impact Wrestling Date: September 29, 2022 Location: Skyway Studios, Nashville, Tennessee Commentators: Matthew Rehwoldt, Tom Hannifan We are done with Victory Road and that means we are only a little over a week away from Bound For Glory. I’m still not sure why Victory Road was such a necessary show before the biggest night of the year but at least it wasn’t an eventful night, meaning Bound For Glory got even more build. Hopefully that can continue tonight so let’s get to it. Opening recap. Bullet Club vs. Trey Miguel/Laredo Kid It’s Ace Austin/Chris Bey for the Club, with Juice Robinson in their corner. Austin and Kid start things off with an exchange of wristlocks but hold on as Austin needs to hold up Too Sweet. A quick high crossbody gives Kid an early two so it’s Bey offering a distraction so Austin can take over on the arm. Bey comes in with a backbreaker as we hear about his album coming out around Halloween. Kid slips away and hands it off to Miguel to fire off kicks at Bey..

The tryouts were reportedly described as a “disaster.” Therefore, the solution will be to bring in more independent wrestlers who are experienced in the ring. Editor’s Opinion: I love stuff like this. It’s always cool to see regular folks have an opportunity to real..

Another Wrestling Legend Preparing For His Final Match

One more time? Last month, Ric Flair wrestled his last match in front of thousands of people in Nashville, Tennessee. That is the special kind of show that only a legend is going to get and Flair would certainly meet that criteria. While there are few names in wrestling on Flair’s level, there are several other legends who would be interested in one last hurrah and another has added his name to the list. WWE Hall of Famer the Honky Tonk Man, 69 years old, has announced that he is preparing for one more match, though no details have been given on the specifics. The tweet making the announcement shows Honky Tonk Man putting on his knee pads and smiling at the camera. Honky Tonk Man’s most recent match took place in November 2019 at the WildKat Revolution Rumble. REVIEW: Ric Flair’s Last Match: Please Be An Accurate Description

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Ric Flair’s Last Match Date: July 31, 2022 Location: Nashville Municipal Auditorium, Nashville, Tennessee Commentators: Tony Schiavone, David Crockett, Ian Riccaboni We had to get here eventually and I’m not that happy about it. This is a show that I haven’t really wanted to watch since it was announced and that hasn’t changed since. While I absolutely respect what he did in the ring, I’m not the biggest Flair fan and seeing him do something this risky isn’t something I particularly needed to see. The good thing i..

Summerslam 2022 Results

Summerslam 2022 Date: July 30, 2022 Location: Nissan Stadium, Nashville, Tennessee Commentators: Michael Cole, Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton It’s time for one of the biggest shows of the year and that means we are in another stadium. The show is going to be interesting for a few reasons, including the fact that it is the first Summerslam ever not under Vince McMahon’s watch. That means we might be seeing something new this time around so let’s get to it. The opening video features a country song about Nashville and how it’s a crazy town. The rest of the video looks at the major matches, with Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar not getting that much of a focus above the rest. Raw Women’s Title: Bianca Belair vs. Becky Lynch Lynch is challenging. They go to the mat to start with Belair running her over, only to have Lynch snap the arm to take over. Back up and Belair backflips away, setting up a release Glam Slam. A standing moonsault gives Belair two but Belair’s arm is banged up..

WWE Tryouts Reportedly “A Disaster”, Major Changes Coming For Next Time

That’s not good developing. WWE is a massive wrestling company and has to do a lot of work to keep things moving. That is certainly easier said than done, but one of the best things that the company can do is keep the talent coming in to the promotion. There are multiple ways to do that, but WWE might be altering one of their primary means of bringing in new wrestlers. WWE has been holding tryouts for new stars over the course of the week in Nashville, Tennessee. The tryouts have mainly included athletes from outside wrestling, which has been WWE’s main focus in recent times. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, this set of tryouts will be the last to focus on non-wrestlers, as there were several injuries due to the athletes not being experienced. The tryouts were reportedly described as a “disaster”. Therefore, the solution will be to bring in more independent wrestlers who are experienced in the ring. Opinion: I can get WWE’s mentality here, as there is no reason for WWE to put i..

NBA Star Dwight Howard Cuts A Promo At SummerSlam Tryout

Who says professional athletes can’t talk? Yesterday at WWE’s tryouts as a part of SummerSlam weekend, NBA star Dwight Howard made an appearance and cut a promo, showing off his skills on the microphone. You can see the promo below: View this post on Instagram A post shared by WWE Recruit (@wwerecruit) In the promo, Howard refers to himself as “Sho’nuff,” referencing the villain from the 1985 film “The Last Dragon.” Arash Markazi who is covering the event, had the following to say: “Dwight Howard was a surprise participant at the WWE Tryout in Nashville today. He told me he legit wants to join the WWE one day.” “Dwight Howard spent about five hours at the WWE Tryout in Nashville today. He told me he’s going to be ringside at SummerSlam on Saturday. He said he’s serious about joining the WWE. He was asking coaches and attendees how to properly take a bump in the ring and do other moves.” Dwight Howard didn’t just cut this one promo and leave. He’s been here for hours. He’s now cut..

WATCH: WWE’s Top 20 Greatest Summerslam Moments (With Some Interesting Choices)

It’s a show without a theme. WWE has a long history on pay per view, with some of their shows dating back well over thirty years. While there are several regular pay per views, WWE has a group of shows known as the Big Four which run every year. We are coming up on another of them, and that means WWE is going to do what they do best: look back at some history. On July 30, the 35th annual Summerslam will be held at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. As a result, WWE has released a video highlighting the Top 20 Greatest Summerslam Moments of all time. The list includes moments and matches from the first edition of the show up to modern editions. Summerslam debuted in 1988 and has been held annually since. This is quite the list. Check out the Top 20: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is one of those lists where there will always be debate to be had over who gets what spot. There are so many moments in the show’s history, which makes things more interesting..

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Has A Problem With Summerslam

Maybe they should fix that. We are less than two weeks away from Summerslam and most of the card is already set. There are a lot of matches that need to go well for the card to be a success and that potential is certainly there. What matters now is executing the plan that WWE has set up, but it seems that someone rather important might not be pleased with what they are doing. According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, a WWE source said that the company does not really like the Summerslam card. There is no word on any changes that WWE might make to Summerslam or if they are going to try to adjust what is already on the card. At the moment, the show has eight matches announced. Summerslam will take place on Saturday July 30 in Nashville, Tennessee. In the most WWE of ways, I had a source tell me this morning “they really don’t like the SummerSlam card” “They” being the people who put it together. Um, what?! — WrestleVotes (@WrestleVotes) July 19, 2022 Opinion: Where do you start..

WOO-No! Ric Flair Announces He Suffered An Injury During Training For Last Match

That might slow things down. Later this month, Ric Flair will wrestle his final match at an event appropriately called Ric Flair’s Last Match. The announcement of the match earlier this year brought up a variety of questions, including if Flair’s health would allow him to wrestle such a match. Now we know that things are starting to go badly for Flair, who is already a bit banged up. During an appearance on Busted Open Radio, Flair revealed that he has suffered plantar fasciitis in his left foot which is causing him to have difficulty training. However, the match is still scheduled to take place as scheduled, with Flair saying that he would deaden the bottom of his foot if he had to in order to make the match happen. Flair’s match is scheduled to take place in Nashville, Tennessee on July 31 when he teams with Andrade El Idolo against Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal. Opinion: This is one of those things that is going to happen at some point, but thankfully it seems that the injury is min..

The Way Around It: Important Detail On How Ric Flair’s Last Match Came Together

There’s a way around that. Later this month, Ric Flair’s Last Match will take place in Nashville, Tennessee. The show will be headlined by its namesake match, which should make for quite the interesting night. The match itself is a tag team match featuring wrestlers from multiple promotions, which has left some people wondering how it came together. Now we know how one of them is involved. Ric Flair’s Last match will be headlined by a tag team match between Ric Flair and Andrade El Idolo vs. Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal. Jarrett is currently an executive in charge of live events for WWE. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Jarrett is allowed to participate in the match because he is not under a WWE talent contract, meaning he can wrestle elsewhere, even with AEW wrestlers. Jarrett is also scheduled to be the guest referee during the Street Profits vs. Usos at Summerslam the night before his tag match. Opinion: This does explain a bit of a loophole, but I’m still trying to get mysel..

Double Time: WWE Adds Two More Grudge Matches To Summerslam Card

It’s time to get things going. We are less than two weeks away from Summerslam and that means WWE is going to need to really crank up the card building on the way to Nashville. The show’s main events are mostly set but there are still some other matches that need to be set. That is easier said than done, but WWE managed to boost the card up in a big way this week. This week’s Monday Night Raw featured two grudge matches being added to the Summerslam card. First up, Seth Rollins vs. Riddle was officially confirmed for Summerslam. This match had been set up by the two of them attacking each other over the last few weeks. Later, Logan Paul appeared on MizTV, where Miz accepted Paul’s challenge for a Summerslam match. This comes after Miz attacked Paul after they won a tag match at WrestleMania 38. Opinion: This is the kind of night that Summerslam needed, as the card has gotten a nice boost in the span of a few hours. I’m kind of curious to see the show, as WWE is doing a fairly decent ..

WOO! Opponent(s) Announced For Ric Flair’s Final Match

They’re up last. In less than two weeks, WWE will be presenting Summerslam in Nashville, Tennessee. The show will be one of the biggest of the year for WWE but there are other things going on in the same place. In addition to Summerslam, Ric Flair’s Last Match will be held in Nashville, and now we know the most important part of the entire show, as an announcement has been made. Bleacher Report Wrestling’s Twitter account has revealed that Ric Flair’s final match will be a tag match as he teams with Andrade El Idolo vs. Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett, with Karen Jarrett in their corner. El Idolo is Flair’s son-in-law and Flair has managed him in various matches over the last few years. Lethal and Flair had a history in Impact Wrestling with Lethal impersonating Flair, while Jarrett was part of the Four Horsemen with Flair in WCW. Long Time Coming: Injured WWE Star Possibly Returning At Summerslam

Welcome back? We are less than two weeks away from Summerslam and that means WWE is going to be working overtime to make things more interesting and draw in as many fans as possible. There are a few ways to do that, with one of the biggest being bringing in stars to help carry the show. WWE might be doing that with a name that has not been seen in a very long time. According to PWInsider.com, Bayley is scheduled to be in Nashville, Tennessee for Summerslam weekend, meaning that she could be returning at the event. This is NOT confirmed and is only seen as a possibility at the moment. Bayley has been out of action since June of last year with a knee injury, though she has recently been seen training at the WWE Performance Center. Opinion: Bayley has teased returning so many times now that I’m only going to believe it when I see it. It has been a long time off for her but a major knee injury like this isn’t the kind of thing that you just bounce back from. I could certainly go for Bayl..

He Kind Of Fits: Surprising WWE Legend To Be Guest Referee At Summerslam

Well, he is a legend. There have been all kinds of wrestlers to come through WWE over the years and some of them have made quite the impact. It takes someone special to be remembered among the best of all time though, which is where the WWE Hall Of Fame comes into play. While there are some names who might feel out of place there, you know a legend when you see one. That was the case this week, though this is a bit of a strange pick. The main event of this week’s SmackDown saw Angelo Dawkins defeat Jimmy Uso. The ending was a bit controversial though as Uso’s shoulder was up as the referee counted three. Following the match, Adam Pearce announced that WWE Hall Of Famer Jeff Jarrett would serve as guest referee for the Tag Team Title match between the Usos and Street Profits at Summerslam. Jarrett returned to the company in an executive role earlier this year after being let go during the Coronavirus pandemic. Opinion: I get the idea of the show being in Nashville and Jarrett tying in..

It Suits Him: Big E. Getting Special New Role In WWE

It’s something else to do. Back in March, Big E. suffered a broken neck during a botched spot in a match on WWE SmackDown. Big E. has since spent months recovering and likely has several more months before he is close to being ready to returning to the ring, assuming he ever does. While he is still recovering, WWE has something else for him to do for the company. Big E. was interviewed by ESPN and revealed that he will be helping scout talent evaluations at the upcoming tryout camps in Nashville, Tennessee over Summerslam weekend. This will include working with Triple H, who will be helping to run the tryout. This will be Big E.’s first official appearance with WWE since his injury and it is not clear if he will continue in the role after Summerslam weekend. Opinion: That is very good to see as Big E. was injured through a freak accident and could have been in a much worse situation. It is great to see him getting to do something else in WWE, as it might be great for his mental state..
