To the other side. With so much television time to fill in WWE, it can be easy for some of the company’s stars to start feeling stale. At some point a change needs to be made and that can be accomplished in a few different ways. One of the easiest is to turn someone either from good to bad or vice versa, and it seems that we saw that take place earlier this week. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: It Fits: Important Details On Next WWE Event In Saudi Arabia, Possible AEW Competition Following the February 10 SmackDown, WWE released a video of Santos Escobar and Rey Mysterio backstage after they both took part in a fatal four way. The two talked about respect and exchanged masks. This week, the two were backstage when Rhea Ripley and Rey’s son Dominik interrupted and insulted Rey. Escobar defended Rey and seemed to set up a match with Dominik. This would indicate that Escobar is moving further towards a full babyface turn, which would be a first in his WWE career. There is no word on what this wo..
That’s a look. There are several aspects to a wrestler’s overall presentation and one of the biggest is how they appear. A wrestler has to do something to catch the fans’ attention and looking a distinct way is one of the best. Changing appearances can make a big difference and that is what took place this week, as a top WWE star debuted something of a fresh appearance. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: All For One? More Details On WWE’s Interest In Signing Kenny Omega This week’s SmackDown featured an edition of the Firefly Fun House. During the show, Bray Wyatt played a news anchor, game show host and weatherman while asking if you could keep a secret. Wyatt then appeared in a mask to ask the question again. This appears to be the same mask that he put on after his match at the Royal Rumble, though it is the first time it has been seen close up on camera. IMG Credit: WWE Wyatt is…something. Tis the season. We are less than six weeks away from WrestleMania 39 and that means it is time to start setting up the biggest weekend of the WWE’s year. This year’s show takes place in Los Angeles, California and just like last time, WWE is airing some parody movie trailers to tie into the Hollywood theme. The first one has already aired and features two of the bigger stars in WWE today. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: That Looked Awful: WWE Star Helped From Elimination Chamber, Falls Going Down Stairs WWE debuted the first of its WrestleMania movie trailer parodies over the weekend at Elimination Chamber. The trailer features Seth Rollins as the Joker, dancing down a set of stairs. At the bottom, he runs into Batman, played by Becky Lynch but not wearing a mask. The two talk, ultimately agreeing that Lynch, who is not named, is in fact The Man. There is no word on when the next trailer will be released. This was different. Check out the trailer, a trailer for the trailers, and the original..
That’s a different way to go. Late last year, Bray Wyatt returned to WWE television after a year and a half absence. Since then, he has developed a still somewhat confusing relationship with a masked man named Uncle Howdy and defeated LA Knight in a match at the Royal Rumble. That still feels like a warmup for Wyatt, and now we might have an idea of where he is going next. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Slight Shift: WWE Reportedly Changed Plans For Trish Stratus’ Return, Still Set For Comeback This week on SmackDown, Wyatt and Howdy interrupted a Hit Row promo and took out the team. After, Wyatt said that he was back in control of his mind before bringing up Brock Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley at Elimination Chamber. Wyatt said that whoever won the match should be ready to run, suggesting that the winner would be facing Wyatt at some point in the future. Neither Lashley nor Lesnar have ever faced Wyatt in a singles match. This could be interesting. Check out the comments, plus who Wyatt is comi..
NXT LVL Up Date: February 10, 2023 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Byron Saxton, Blake Howard So somehow, we’re coming off what was an actually entertaining episode last week. If they can keep up that energy this week, it should be another breeze of the show. What makes it more confusing is that it shouldn’t be hard to send in another middle of the road star to boost things up a bit. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. We meet new commentator Blake Howard. Tank Ledger vs. Kale Dixon They trade wristlocks to start until Ledger takes him down with an armbar. An armdrag sets up another armbar and a World’s Strongest Slam gives Ledger two. Dixon manages to send him into the corner though and a neckbreaker gets two. Ledger fights out of a chinlock and a cartwheel into a splash gets another near fall. The running powerslam finishes Dixon at 4:59. Result: Tank Ledger b. Kale Dixon – Running powerslam (4:59) Axiom isn’t sure how to deal with a masked man..
Mutual respect. After Smackdown went off the air this past week, WWE shot and released some footage of Santos Escobar and Rey Mysterio backstage. They showed mutual respect for each other, as well as exchanged Lucha masks. You can see the clip below: [This post contains video, click to play] Both Escobar and Mysterio competed in a Fatal-4-way match to determine the No. 1 contender for the Intercontinental Championship. Both Escobar, Mysterio, along with Karrion Kross would come up on the losing end of the battle, while Madcap Moss would pick up the victory. He will face Gunther next week for the championship. In the clip, Escobar talked about being a little kid and watching Mysterio with his father. Escobar said all he wanted was to take Mysterio’s legacy and make it his and then talked about the respect he has for Mysterio for being “all about lucha.” Both men exchanged masks to show mutual respect. Editor’s Opinion: This is very cool, as I know how much Lucha means to both sup..
That would have been different. There are several different ways to introduce a new wrestler and one of the most successful is to have them introduced as part of a wrestling family. It is an idea that has worked over the years and still does to this day. Now we are hearing a story about an idea that would have seen a wrestling family grow even larger than it already is. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: He’s Up: WWE And AEW Set For Likely Bidding War Over International Star Former WWE star Matt Morgan was a guest on Insight With Chris Van Vliet and revealed that he was going to be introduced as Kane’s brother Abel. During his time in OVW, then WWE’s developmental system, Morgan was told to wrestle in a mask to get him used to using one. There is no word on why WWE did not use Morgan in the role. Morgan also made it clear that this was not the same storyline as the Impostor Kane, which took place in 2006. Morgan is a talented big man. That has potential. Every so often, a wrestler will change from good to bad or vice versa. These changes can alter the course of their future as sometimes going to the other side is the right change for them. These changes can be exactly what a wrestler needs at times and we might have seen a big one for an up and coming star after this week’s SmackDown went off the air. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: To The Shelf: NXT Star Reveals Torn ACL, Surgery Scheduled For Next Week The main event of this week’s SmackDown was a fatal four way between Karrion Kross, Madcap Moss, Santos Escobar and Rey Mysterio. The match was the first time ever for two latter two to face off in an official match. Following the show, the two met in the locker room, with Escobar talking about how he wanted to take Rey’s legacy. Escobar said that while he still wants it, he also respect Mysterio, and presented him with his mask. Mysterio responded by saying Escobar had told him that story before and then presented Escobar..
Just to make it even more confusing. There are certain characters and stories in wrestling that can be hard to figure out. Some of them do or say things that leave fans with more questions than answers and that can make for some interesting moments. WWE certainly has its share of them and now one of the most confusing has taken another turn, at least during a recent live event. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Welcome Home: Another Monday Night Raw Star Set For NXT Return Over the last several weeks, Bray Wyatt has been forced to deal with a mysterious man named Uncle Howdy. This has involved Howdy following Wyatt, as well as attacking him once. Last week on SmackDown though, the two seemed to form an alliance. This was followed by Wyatt wearing the Howdy mask to the ring during a recent WWE live event in Columbus, Ohio. Wyatt had once declared that he WAS Howdy, though the two have been seen together since. Wyatt entered in the Howdy mask tonight. Is he Howdy? #WWEColumbus pic.twitter.com/vW..
It would be big. Wrestling fans today have access to more content than they ever could have dreamed possible. The rise of streaming services allows fans to see all kinds of wrestling from around the world with ease and that can make things a lot easier. It also leaves some fans wondering where to start and now that decision might be getting even more complicated. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Ouch: AEW Faces Lawsuit Over Using Luchasaurus Mask Without Creator’s Permission According to Bloomberg, Tony Khan and AEW are considering launching their own streaming service. The service would be through Warner Brothers Discovery, which broadcasts AEW Dynamite and Rampage. There is no word on what other kinds of content could be available on the service or if it would be a stand alone option. There have been rumors of an AEW streaming service for over a year, with speculation over it joining another existing service or starting a new one. The company has the content. That’s not a good look. The right attire is one of the most important parts of a wrestler’s presentation. Making a wrestler look good is a great way to give the fans a reason to care about them, which can be incredibly tricky. That can involve some very unique looking material, but in a recent case, it is not going well for a current star, as a certain part of his gear is getting him in legal trouble. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: That’s New: AEW Announces Series Of Non-Televised Live Events According to Wrestlenomics, AEW and Luchasaurus are being sued by a company called Composite Effects LLC (CFX) for using and profiting from their design in Luchasaurus’ mask without permission. While Luchasaurus was allowed to use the mask in the ring, there was no permission to use it in merchandise. CFX provided emails from Luchasaurus talking about a possible modification of a mask the company had created before, which became his signature mask. When CFX attempted to come to a licensing agreement, no..
He couldn’t make it. There are all kinds of injuries that can leave wrestlers on the sidelines for any amount of time. You never know when you are going to see someone get injured and it can cause issues for multiple people at once. There are ways to fix some of the problems though and that might have taken place over the weekend when an angle had to be adjusted. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: That’s In A Name: WWE Quickly Drops Team Name Due To Similarity To Adult Film Company Rey Mysterio did not appear as advertised during this year’s Royal Rumble. Instead, Dominik Mysterio came to the ring with Rey’s mask, with commentary suggesting that Dominik attacked Rey backstage. According to PWInsider.com, Rey missed the match due to being banged up from his match against Karrion Kross the previous night on SmackDown. It was also said that WWE went back and forth on having Rey in the match but decided against letting him wrestle. Rey is said to be “ok” and there is nothing to suggest that he will ..
That makes it harder. There are all kinds of injuries that can take place in a wrestler’s career. You never know when you are going to see someone get hurt, but there are times where you do not know the injury has taken place. Sometimes there are ways to hide the injury, even if it is something that can slow a wrestler down. That is the case again, but you might not be able to tell. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: It’s A Start: Possible Backstage Heat On Mercedes Mone (Sasha Banks) In New Japan According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there were at least two injuries coming out of the Best Of Seven series between the Elite and Death Triangle for the AEW World Trios Titles. First, Pac broke his nose shortly into the series and had to wrestle with a protective mask on for the remainder of the matches. Second, Nick Jackson suffered a broken toe, which made it difficult to walk. Jackson is currently resting his toe and he can move it without pain. There is nothing to suggest either will mi..
He’s gone? There have not been very many departures from the AEW roster during its few years of existence. As a result, seeing someone leave feels like a bigger deal when it actually takes place. It means something to see someone leave AEW and you get to see where they might go from there. While not confirmed, it does seem like another AEW star is hinting at heading elsewhere. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Up For Grabs: Former IWGP World Champion Jay White Free Agent Soon, WWE And AEW Interested AEW’s Andrade El Idolo has released a post on Instagram, showing a picture of his mask with the caption “Bye!!!”. That’s some dedication. There are all kinds of ways to present a new wrestler but one of the most consistently used over the year is a mask. A new star will appear but there is no way of knowing who is behind the mask, leading to quite a bit of intrigue. WWE is utilizing the idea again today, but this time around they are doing something pretty unique with the concept. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: She’s In: WWE Star Makes Long Awaited In-Ring Debut On SmackDown Over the last few months, Bray Wyatt has been attempting to escape his path but is also dealing with someone named Uncle Howdy. That’s him? There are a lot of ways to introduce a wrestler onto television and some of them involve not letting the fans know everything at once. Sometimes you will see a wrestler debut and not know who they are just yet. That can leave fans guessing, and now they are guessing again about the identity of a character who has only been around for a few weeks. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: On The Market: Former Multiple Time World Champion Officially A Free Agent Over the last few weeks, Bray Wyatt’s alleged Uncle Howdy has been appearing on SmackDown. Howdy was back last week and attacked Wyatt in the ring, though his identity is still unknown. Following the attack, former Ring Of Honor star Vincent sent out a tweet saying “Sane? There is also no guarantee that someone wearing the Howdy mask on SmackDown will be the person playing him when his identity is rev..
That’s the real part. Injuries can take place at any time in wrestling and there is no way to prevent some of them. Sometimes a wrestler is going to get hit in the wrong way and something is going to be damaged completely by accident. Those can cause some serious problems, but in this case, an injured wrestler is working through a rather painful injury, albeit with some extra protection. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Go Your Own Way: Speculation Over William Regal Jumping Back From AEW To WWE The main event of this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite saw the Elite defeat the Death Triangle in a six man tag, bringing their best of seven series to a score of 2-1 in favor of Death Triangle. The match saw Pac wrestle with a face mask on, which according to Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live, is due to a legitimate broken nose. The injury took place at Full Gear, though there is nothing to suggest that Pac will miss any time. The two sides have a history together. Check out some of their serie..
It was nice while it lasted. AEW is a promotion with a large roster and only a few hours of television a week. As a result, their best option is to have several of their wrestlers put together in stables. This has been the case since the company was founded, but sometimes those stables have major issues. That was on display again this week, as a long running stable lost a member. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: It’s An Idea: Original Concept For AEW Interim Titles, Possible Thinking Behind Them The main event of this week’s AEW Rampage saw the Dark Order team up against La Faccion Ingobernable. However, the Dark Order started the match down a man as 10 was nowhere to be seen. Later in the match, 10 arrived and turned on the Dark Order, siding with La Faccion Ingoberable. Following the match, 10 unmasked and threw his mask at Negative One, who had brought him out to the ring. This comes after weeks of Rush trying to purchase 10 from the Dark Order. This was devastating. Check out how everythi..
That’s a tease. The AEW roster has grown quite a bit during the company’s three and a half year history. There have been several names to come and go from the locker room and it can mean a lot for a wrestler to get a spot in the company. While there have been several successes, there have been some who can’t seem to get out of the blocks. Now another one of the latter is teasing something. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: AEW’s Saraya Shares Details On Planned Autobiography About Her Drug Addiction Issues AEW’s Andrade El Idolo has posted an image of himself holding his mask with the caption “I just want to say thank you!!!
