REVIEW: Backlash 2005: Keep On Fighting

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Backlash 2005 Date: May 1, 2005 Location: Verizon Wireless Arena, Manchester, New Hampshire Attendance: 14,000 Commentators: Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler It’s the follow up to Wrestlemania and that means we’re in for a rematch for the Raw World Title with HHH challenging Batista for the title. Other than that, we have the ultimate teaming of Shawn Michaels/Hulk Hogan vs. Muhammad Hassan/Daivari because we need a way to get to what is likely going to be Shawn vs. Hogan at a big show. Let’s get to it. The opening video i..

WWE Star Sets Third Guinness World Record This Year

She did it again. Wrestling is a little bit different when it comes to records as it is a little bit difficult to buy what a wrestling promotion or a wrestler says happened. It can get a little confusing with everything going on and how many different ways a company likes to stretch the truth, but sometimes you can get some outside sources. That is the case again for a pretty impressive WWE milestone. Guinness World Records has announced that WWE’s Natalya has officially set the record for most matches won by a woman in the history of the company. As of November 2021, Natalya won her 641st match, which means the record breaking win could have come on November 10 at a live event in Manchester, England or in a tag match on the November 19 SmackDown. This comes less than two months after Natalya was certified as having the most matches and pay per view appearances by a woman in WWE history. She's made the most PPV appearances and had the most matches for a female in WWE history… N..

Sami Zayn Has Managed To Annoy One Of The Spice Girls

That’s an enemy to have. Wrestlers are celebrities, but not exactly in the traditional sense. It’s true that they are on television almost every week and have no off season, but at the same time, they are also only known as wrestlers. Every now and then something else will make them into bigger stars, but it does not happen all that often. Now a more well known celebrity is not happy with a wrestling star. Mel B., better known as Scary Spice of the Spice Girls, took in a WWE live event in Manchester, England last week. Spice took pictures with Sasha Banks and Charlotte, but also had an off camera altercation with Sami Zayn, who mentioned the issue on Twitter. Spice confirmed the interaction and insulted Zayn again. There is nothing to suggest that Spice will appear on WWE TV. People of the world! Spice up your life Thank you #WWEManchester pic.twitter.com/R5Tpa8HVCl — Mercedes Varnado (@SashaBanksWWE) November 10, 2021 Sasha and Charlotte met Mel B Iconic ? pic.twitter.com/0Wh0gA..

Good News On Injured Monday Night Raw Star

That could have been worse. There are certain things in wrestling that are universal for anyone who gets in the ring, with one of the worst being the potential to get hurt. No matter how talented or skilled a wrestler might be, there is always the chance that they could get hurt in the blink of an eye. That can be a scary time, but now we are getting some good news about someone for a change. Earlier this week, WWE announced that Finn Balor was injured and unable to appear in a scheduled match at a WWE live event in the United Kingdom. However, according to Fightful.com, Balor was back in the ring on Wednesday in Manchester, England. Balor opened the show in a tag team match, teaming with Cesaro to defeat Walter and Sheamus. There is nothing to suggest that Balor will miss any more time. It’s good to have him back. Check out what Balor can do when he is healthy: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click t..

Former WWE Champion Returning To The Ring After Injury

Welcome back. With so many wrestlers on the WWE roster, it can be difficult to keep track of everyone involved. There are some who are going to stand out more than others and it can be easy to notice when one of them is gone. Their absence can leave quite a hole in a WWE show but it is a cool moment to have them come back. That is going to be the case again for a WWE star. WWE has announced the card for its upcoming live events in the United Kingdom starting next week. The November 7 show will feature a match between Sheamus and Finn Balor, which will mark Sheamus’ first match since September 30 as he has been out of action after surgery to repair a broken nose. Sheamus and Balor are also scheduled to face off in Leeds, Nottingham and Manchester on the tour. ? READY FOR ANOTHER ONE? ? REVIEW: Monday Night Raw – November 13, 2006: Randy Orton’s Wacky Partner

Monday Night Raw Date: November 13, 2006 Location: Manchester Evening News Arena, Manchester, England Attendance: 15,266 Commentators: Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler We are on one of the foreign excursion shows as Raw is over in England on the way to Survivor Series. Some of the Survivor Series matches have already been set and that should make for a few different paths while the show is on vacation. Now just get us there in a few interesting pieces. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Here’s DX to get things going, comp..

What Happened After This Week’s SmackDown Live?

Just in case they weren’t ready to go home yet. The last few weeks have been very busy for WWE, including stops all over the world. Their latest shows have been in England, with Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live taking place in Manchester. This weekend will see the wrestlers return back home, but there was one last thing to do before the stop in England was over. According to Ringsidenews.com, the dark match after this week’s SmackDown Live saw WWE Champion AJ Styles team up with Daniel Bryan to defeat the Miz and Randy Orton when Styles made Miz tap to the Calf Crusher. Bryan and Miz spent most of the show bickering over the upcoming Survivor Series match and Orton attacked Rey Mysterio after his match. Styles didn’t appear in the arena but did talk about his upcoming match with Brock Lesnar. Styles sounds ready. [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: That’s not the worst main event in the world and it makes a lot of sense to have Styles get out there and wrestle in..

SmackDown Live Coverage And Results – November 6, 2018

Smackdown Date: November 6, 2018 Location: Manchester Arena, Manchester, England Commentators: Corey Graves, Byron Saxton, Tom Phillips We’re in England again for the final big show on the long international tour. This show is going to be almost all about the fallout from Crown Jewel and the build towards Survivor Series, which is a mere twelve days away. Expect a lot of people being added to the card in a hurry. Let’s get to it. Here’s Paige to get things going. She wastes no time in introducing Shane McMahon, though the fans are NOT happy to see him. After a quick clip of the ending of the tournament and a photo op with the cup, Shane says he isn’t the Best in the World. That trophy doesn’t belong to him, but it does belong to everyone here on Smackdown. He reacted by instinct on Friday because he couldn’t handle the idea of Smackdown not being considered the best. That brings him to Survivor Series so we run down the champion vs. champion matches. What matters most though are the..

SmackDown Live Taping Results From Manchester *SPOILERS*

From England, with love. WWE has been going a bit insane with their travel schedule of late. The last two weeks have featured shows from New York, North Carolina, Saudi Arabia and now England for Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live. You can imagine the roster just wanting to get some sleep, and with one final show in the books they might actually be able to do that. So what happened? WWE taped this week’s edition of SmackDown Live from Manchester, England in advance this week. The show will be focused on the fallout from Crown Jewel, with the main story being Shane McMahon somehow winning the World Cup of Wrestling and being named the Best in the World despite not actually being in the tournament in the first place. Here are the results, courtesy of WrestleZone.com: * Shane McMahon and Paige come to the ring, and Shane says the World Cup trophy isn’t his, but it belongs to Smackdown. He says he acted on instinct at Crown Jewel, but doesn’t really think he’s the best in the world. It ..

Monday Night Raw Live Coverage And Results – November 5, 2018

Monday Night Raw Date: November 5, 2018 Location: Manchester Arena, Manchester, England Commentators: Michael Cole, Corey Graves, Renee Young After everything last week, even the wrestlers needed a Monday night off so we have a taped show from earlier in the day. It’s time for the annual November England tour and it happens to be one of the two final shows before Survivor Series. Therefore, it’s time to crank out some stories in a hurry. Let’s get to it. The roster is on the stage and there are security guards at ringside as Baron Corbin comes out. After some clips of Brock Lesnar winning the Universal Title again (just go with it), Corbin talks about Survivor Series and lists off some of the upcoming matches. In addition to just winning for pride though, Raw has a score to settle because Shane McMahon stole the title of Best in the World from Dolph Ziggler. Don’t worry though, because Stephanie McMahon will be here next week to deal with that (You knew it was coming.). As for the m..
