It Was His Call: More On Baron Corbin/JBL Split, Why The Angle Was Canceled

Pull the plug. There are all kinds of ways to present a storyline in wrestling and some of them are a lot more effective than others. You can tell when something is working, but it can take a little longer to figure out that something is missing. When these things finally hit rock bottom though, it is often time to get rid of them and that is what happened with a recent Monday Night Raw story. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Read The Fine Print: Why Two Monday Night Raw Superstars Have Been Absent From Shows Earlier this week on Monday Night Raw, John Bradshaw Layfield cut ties with Baron Corbin, ending their association. This led to reports that Layfield would not be back on WWE TV for the time being. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Triple H pulled the plug on the story as he didn’t feel it was working. He’s out. There have been several World Champions throughout WWE’s history. Some of them have been more successful than others but almost all of them champions are memorable in one way or another. Just being a former title holder means a lot and occasionally WWE will bring one of them back to help someone else. The most recent edition of this experiment seems to be over. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Seth Rollins Seems To Plant Seeds For Rumored WrestleMania Match Back in October, John Bradshaw Layfield returned to WWE as Baron Corbin’s manager. The two have been associated on television since, though Corbin has been on a losing streak in recent weeks. This week on Monday Night Raw, Layfield said that he was done with Corbin and was washing his hands of him. According to PWInsider.com, this was done as a way to write Layfield off of television as he is not scheduled to appear on WWE TV going forward. There is no word on what is planned for Corbin. WATCH: WWE Releases Never Before Seen Roman Reigns Match

Open the vault. WWE has been around for decades now and during their time, they have acquired several video libraries. As a result, WWE owns by far the biggest collection of wrestling footage in history with nothing coming close to it. This allows them to release almost anything they like whenever they choose, and now they are letting you see another match you have probably never seen before. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Farewell? Wrestling Legend: “I’m Getting Too Old For This S***” This week on The Bump, a never before released match between King Corbin and Roman Reigns was aired. The match took place following the February 28, 2022 SmackDown in Boston, Massachusetts. Corbin and his manager John Bradshaw Layfield did commentary from the Bump studios, along with hosts Matt Camp and Kayla Braxton. Tribute To The Troops 2022 Date: December 17, 2022 Location: Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Indianapolis, Indiana Commentators: Michael Cole, John Bradshaw Layfield It’s time for another of the annual holiday specials, though in this case this was tacked on after a TV taping over a month ago. These shows are basically short form house shows with a healthy dose of “WE LOVE THE TROOPS” thrown in. There are almost no expectations for one of them as a result so let’s get to it. We get the presentation of the colors and Star Spangled Banner, led by someone who sang it at the 2009 Tribute To The Troops. The opening video looks at the history of Tribute To The Troops, featuring several clips from the original shows and not so many from the recent editions. Braun Strowman vs. LA Knight Strowman throws him around to start but misses a charge into the corner. Knight goes after the knee but Strowman shrugs it off. The Monsterbomb finishes Knight at 2:05. That’s a lot of money. WWE has long since been the world’s biggest and most dominant wrestling promotion. The company has more money than it knows what to do with, which has led to some questionable spending choices before. Some of these are absolutely bizarre but now we might have the most out there decision that wound up costing WWE tens of thousands of dollars. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: HIM? WWE Discusses Possible Men’s Royal Rumble Winner (And It’s A Big One) During a new interview with the Wrestling Perspective Podcast, former WWE creative team member and MLW owner Court Bauer told a story about the Boogeyman. At the time, Boogeyman was feuding with John Bradshaw Layfield, who was in the ring when Boogeyman caused worms to rain from the ceiling. Layfield wound up rolling around in worms and Bauer says Vince McMahon found the visual hilarious. In addition to everything that takes place on the microphone and in the ring, a wrestler’s appearance needs to make them stand out in some way. Occasionally a change needs to be made and now a longstanding WWE star has done just that with a bit of a flashback. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Boss Triple H Sees Monday Night Raw Star As “Reclamation Project” This week on Monday Night Raw, Akira Tozawa appeared in his old tights and with blond hair, rather than the martial arts attire and black hair he had been sporting for years. Tozawa interrupted the Baron Corbin vs. Drew McIntyre match by distracting Corbin’s manager John Bradshaw Layfield, costing Corbin the match. That Could Mean Something: WWE Star Posts Cryptic Message After Rare Appearance

That could mean so much. The internet has changed the wrestling world in a lot of ways, with wrestlers being able to benefit from its presences in a lot of ways. One of the most important is by allowing wrestlers to be able to get their face and words out there a lot more often than they are on television. Now one of them has made a post that is more than a little curious. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: One More Time: How A Possible CM Punk WWE Return Is Being Received Backstage This week on Monday Night Raw, Akira Tozawa appeared in a backstage segment where he beat Baron Corbin and John Bradshaw Layfield in a poker game. Later in the night, Tozawa lost to Corbin in a match, which was Tozawa’s first match on Monday Night Raw since the June 27 episode. Ric Flair Blasts Fellow WWE Hall Of Famer, “What A Joke!”

Can’t they all just get along? There have been all kinds of stars throughout the history of WWE, with only a small handful reaching the top of the company. It means a lot to see one of those stars becoming all time legends, meaning they are remembered long after they hang up their boots. At the same time though, not all legends get along and that is the case again, with one having something to say about the other. WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair took to Twitter this week to bash fell Hall of Famer John Bradshaw Layfield for his history of bullying accusations. Flair said that WWE’s anti-bullying campaign must not apply to Layfield, with Flair naming Joey Styles and “Jason” Roberts (presumably Justin Roberts, who accused Layfield of bullying) as former victims. 11 Year WWE Veteran Reveals Locker Room’s Biggest Bully

Is that an honor? A wrestling locker room is often as something like a family, as there are always going to be a lot of different people but for the most part, they tend to get along at least at a civil level. That is not always the case with everyone though, as there is always going to be someone who causes problems, including a certain wrestling legend during his main time with WWE. During a new appearance on Wrestling Shoot Interviews, former WWE Intercontinental Champion Sean Morely, better known as Val Venis, named John Bradshaw Layfield (JBL) as the biggest backstage bully during his time with the company. Morely said that he considered JBL “a walking home entertainment center” and did not know how JBL was not fired for some of the things that he said. In addition, Morely revealed that he would follow JBL around the arena, just to hear what he would say next. Morely wrestled for WWE from 1998-2009. WWE Hall Of Famer Returns On Monday Night Raw To Manage Current Star

He can do some things. There have been a lot of stars throughout WWE’s history and some of them have become legends of the industry. You know these stars when you see them and it can mean something to see them show up again after a long absence. That was the situation again this week, as a legend showed up in a new role in an effort to build up a younger star. This week on Monday Night Raw, WWE Hall of Famer John Bradshaw Layfield made a surprise appearance, introducing Baron Corbin as the newest member of the Monday Night Raw roster. Corbin was sent to the show in exchange for Rey Mysterio, who jumped to SmackDown last week. This comes after Layfield picked Corbin up in his limo after a loss on SmackDown back in August. Corbin would go on to defeat Dolph Ziggler with Layfield on commentary. WATCH: AEW Stars Appear On Monday Night Raw To Praise John Cena

They don’t go here. Twenty years ago Monday, John Cena made his WWE debut on SmackDown. What followed was one of the greatest careers in WWE history, as Cena has gone on to become one of the most decorated champions in the company’s history, as well as developed quite the film career. Now some of his peers are celebrating him, including some surprising names. This week’s Monday Night Raw was focused on Cena and his history with WWE. Throughout the show, various wrestling legends appeared in videos to praise Cena in one way or another.
