WWE SmackDown on May 30, 2025, delivered a high-octane episode from Knoxville, Tennessee, setting the stage for the upcoming Money in the Bank event. The night ...
The EST is expanding her sports knowledge. Raw Women’s Champion Bianca Belair appeared on ESPN’s “College GameDay” yesterday, where she appeared as the celebrity guest picker for the slate of college football games for the day. You can watch a couple of clips of her appearance below: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] The show emulated from the University of Tennessee, where Belair ended her collegiate career. Originally from Knoxville, she attended Austin-East Magnet High School and was both All-SEC and All-American in track. Belair was also named to the SEC’s academic honor roll in 2011 and 2012. Belair is scheduled to face Bayley for the Raw Women’s Championship at the upcoming Extreme Rules premium live event. Editor’s Opinion: I love stuff like this! I’m a huge college football fan, so to see two of my favorite sports come together is always a lot of fun for me. Plus I love when wrestling superstars get to show their love a..
Monday Night Raw Date: April 25, 2022 Location: Thompson Boling Arena, Knoxville, Tennessee Commentators: Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton We are less than two weeks away from Wrestlemania Backlash but we have a special milestone to cover first. This week is twenty years to the day of Randy Orton’s WWE debut and a special tribute is planned. I’m sure nothing will happen to cause that to be derailed in any way. Let’s get to it. The ring is surrounded by wrestlers and Riddle introduces us to a tribute to Randy Orton’s career. There are clips from every major moment of his career (save for that first World Title win of course) and my goodness there have been a lot of them. With that out of the way, Riddle introduces Orton, who talks about how he was actually born right here in Knoxville. Orton thanks a lot of the people who helped get him here, including a special mention of Mick Foley for turning him into the Legend Killer. There have been a lot of moments over the years, but h..
Dang it feels like we only did one of these things yesterday. It is time for the second night of Wrestlemania XXXVIII and they’re actually going to have their work cut out for them to do better than the first night. While I doubt anything is approaching Steve Austin actually having a match, there is a major main event that is going to have a lot behind the whole thing. Let’s get to it. Johnny Knoxville vs. Sami Zayn This is an Anything Goes match so Knoxville and his friends can get together and do a variety of wacky things to Zayn. That isn’t the most interesting way to go if you aren’t a Jackass fan, but this is a celebrity appearance that might work out. The point of Jackass seems to be seeing things happen to its cast so having Knoxville in a match is as good as anything else. I’ll take Knoxville to win for the “feel good” moment, as Zayn has long since proven that he can take a loss like few others. I’m not sure how well the match is going to be but it should be a heck of a spe..
Call them guest stars. WrestleMania has been around for the better part of forty years now and there are certain traditions that have continued throughout its history. One of the longest running has been the inclusion of celebrities, who have been around since the beginning and will be there again this year. It turns out that we might be seeing even more of them than advertised. One of the announced matches for WrestleMania 38 is an Anything Goes match between Jackass star Johnny Knoxville and Sami Zayn. During an interview with Bleacher Report, Knoxville announced that he will be bringing some of his Jackass co-stars with him, though he is hoping to keep them out of the ring. Knoxville has wrestled once before, appearing in this year’s men’s Royal Rumble, where he was eliminated by Zayn. Opinion: This is something that had to be expected, as it makes all the sense in the world to have Knoxville bring in his friends to try and even the odds a bit. While Knoxville is the most famous o..
That’s a better fit. Celebrities have a weird history in wrestling, as some have done very well but others have clearly been in over their heads with no reason to be there in the first place. That can create some problems if they try to have a match without a lot of catering to their individual cases. WWE seems to understand this and is making such an adjustment to an upcoming celebrity match. Sami Zayn is scheduled to face Jackass’ Johnny Knoxville at WrestleMania 38, following a months long feud between the two of them. This week on SmackDown, Zayn requested that the match be made anything goes, with Knoxville accepting the stipulation later in the night. Knoxville and Zayn have been feuding since January, with Zayn eliminating him from the Royal Rumble and Knoxville flying Zayn’s phone number behind a plane over Los Angeles last week. Opinion: This isn’t much of a surprise and is the right move for everyone involved. Knoxville can do his Jackass style stuff and probably bring in s..
There’s your next one. With WrestleMania 38 less than a month away, it is time to start getting ready for the biggest show of the year. That means WWE needs to set up the card in the way that draws in the most eyes, which includes coming up with some matches that might draw in a crowd that might not usually watch. WWE is trying just that with a special celebrity match. This week on SmackDown, actor Johnny Knoxville interrupted Sami Zayn’s Intercontinental Title match against Ricochet, costing Zayn the title. As a result, Zayn challenged Knoxville to a match at WrestleMania 38, which Knoxville accepted later in the night. Knoxville has been tormenting Zayn for most of the year, including appearing in the Royal Rumble, where Zayn eliminated him. Zayn also crashed the premiere of Knoxville’s film Jackass Forever, with Knoxville coming back to SmackDown to retaliate. Opinion: This is the kind of thing that makes sense, but I’m rather happy that it is not going to be a title match. Celebr..
History has been made! There are a lot of titles in the wrestling world and many of the most famous and well known are under the WWE banner. The company has been around for so many years that it has had a chance to build up some lineages. One of those titles changing hands can mean a great deal for someone and that was the case again late this week. This week on SmackDown, Ricochet defeated Sami Zayn to win the Intercontinental Title for the first time in his career. Ricochet won the title when Zayn was distracted by Johnny Knoxville, who came to the ring, allowing Ricochet to hurricanrana him for the pin. This is Ricochet’s second singles title in WWE, along with the United States Title, plus one reign as NXT North American Champion. Opinion: This was quite the surprise and that is a nice thing to see. Ricochet is someone who has seemed ready to take a big step forward for a long time now but has not really been given a chance. I don’t know how the title reign is going to go, but wh..
That doesn’t seem to be the best idea. Wrestling is as unique of a form of entertainment as you can get, as the wrestlers are required to make everything look as real as possible while being as safe as possible. That is a heck of a trick, but there are some wrestlers who can cause some very real damage if they need to. It would not be logical to go after them, but that is what took place recently. Brock Lesnar appeared on the Pat McAfee Show this week and told a story of how Johnny Knoxville broke down Lesnar’s hotel room door. Lesnar was in St. Louis for the Royal Rumble and had a private room at his hotel. He was told that Knoxville and the cast of Jackass was there as well, so Lesnar sent over a bottle of wine. Soon thereafter, Knoxville broke down Lesnar’s door so Lesnar came outside and put Jackass member Wee Man through a table. According to Lesnar, none of this was planned in advance. There is a lot here. Check out the full interview: [This post contains video, click to play]..
That’s a way to go. Titles are the easiest part of a wrestling show, as they are such a simple concept. Wrestlers are competing against each other and they want to win the top prize. That might be for the sake of money or power or just success, but every wrestler should want to be a champion for one reason or another. Now it seems that someone else is going to get a title match on the biggest stage of them all. Last week, WWE taped February 18 edition of SmackDown, during which Sami Zayn defeated Shinsuke Nakamura to win the Intercontinental Title. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, this means actor Johnny Knoxville will get an Intercontinental Title shot against Zayn at WrestleMania 38. Zayn and Knoxville have been feuding for several weeks, including during the men’s Royal Rumble match. Opinion: This might not be the most popular move in the world and I can absolutely understand the sentiment. At the end of the day, there are a lot of wrestlers who could get something out of an..
He might not be done. There is a long history of celebrities in wrestling and that is something that will likely continue for a long time to come. It can be interesting to see people come out of their world and move into the wrestling bubble, even if it is for a short amount of time. That was the case over the weekend, but there might be an extension in this situation. According to PWInsider.com, WWE has sent out a fan survey suggesting that Johnny Knoxville may be returning to the company. The survey asked about Knoxville’s time in WWE and also about the possibility of him coming back. In addition, the survey asked fans for their thoughts on WWE matches and their main television shows. Knoxville appeared on several editions of WWE SmackDown in a feud with Sami Zayn, as well as participating in this year’s men’s Royal Rumble. Opinion: Your individual tastes in Knoxville may vary, but at least he did something short and to the point without becoming annoying. Knoxville did very little..
The Beast doesn’t find it funny. Last night, at a dinner in St. Louis, Brock Lesnar had an encounter with ‘Jackass’ star Wee-Man and body-slammed him through a table. The video has made its way to the Internet, including on TMZ Sports. You can see one example of the video below: Brock Lesnar hanging out with The Jackass crew before Royal Rumble 2022 pic.twitter.com/CJ7lkYmyQk — WWE Hindi Daily (@tmykwoah) January 29, 2022 This appears to be a fun event and encounter, with no malicious intent involved. The dinner took place in St. Louis, which is the site of the 2022 Royal Rumble. Lesnar is scheduled to defend his WWE Championship against Bobby Lashley, while ‘Jackass Forever’ star Johnny Knoxville is scheduled to be an entrant into the Men’s Royal Rumble match. Editor’s Opinion: I love stuff like this. Over the past few months, we have seen a different side of The Beast, as his more comical and laid-back side has started to be a part of his character. From the Cowboy Hat on Raw ..
It’s not permanent. Celebrities have a long history in the WWE, as a good portiton of the original WrestleMania was built on the celebrity involvement. The tradition continued for years to come and is still a big deal today. Sometimes you see celebrities get in the ring, which can make for some interesting moments. That seems to be the case again, but it will not be something you should get used to seeing. As previously announced, actor Johnny Knoxville will be competing in this year’s men’s Royal Rumble match. According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, Knoxville’s appearance will be a one off and he is not expected to be back for any more appearances, including WrestleMania. At the same time though, WWE is planning on having another celebrity appearance for WrestleMania, though the person is not yet known. Source states Johnny Knoxville’s Royal Rumble involvement is slated to be Rumble only & done on Saturday. However, WWE is indeed working on another celebrity appearance for Wr..
The next of many. We are less than a month away from the Royal Rumble and that means it is time to start putting some names on some lists. The Royal Rumble requires sixth names to fill in the show’s two namesake matches and that can take some time. It makes sense to get on these things in a hurry, and that is what WWE was doing in a big way this week. This week’s edition of Monday Night Raw saw five new names added to the Men’s Royal Rumble match. Over the course of the show, the Street Profits (Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins) and the Mysterios (Rey and Dominik) announced their entries in the match. Later, Vince McMahon added Austin Theory. This comes after Johnny Knoxville announced his own entry last weekend. The Royal Rumble takes place on January 29. Those are some talented stars. Check out who is joining the Royal Rumble: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is the kind ..
The first of many. We are officially in the new year and that means a lot of things are changing in WWE. Later this month, we will officially be on the Road To WrestleMania, which will start at the Royal Rumble. The show will feature a pair of its namesake matches, with thirty men and thirty women will vie for a title shot at WrestleMania. That is a pretty special list, but now one name is taking up a spot. Jackass Forever star Johnny Knoxville has posted a video to his Instagram, announcing that he is entering the Royal Rumble. Knoxville said that he wants to start the new year fighting and says the best way is by getting involved in the match. He also said that there was no one who could throw him out of the ring, including Roman Reigns or Big E. Knoxville and the rest of the Jackass cast appeared on a recent episode of SmackDown to promote the film. There is no word on if Knoxville will actually be entering the match. It’s a surprising announcement. Check out what Knoxville said, ..
The feel good moment. There are a lot of different ways to present a wrestling show but one of the easiest is to showcase the most popular wrestlers around. There will be a core group of wrestlers on the roster who are liked above the rest, but sometimes a different wrestler stands out. This can often be the case in their hometown, which was the case for a special moment this week. This week’s edition of SmackDown took place in Bianca Belair’s hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee. Knox County Mayor Kane made a special appearance to give Belair the key to the county and Belair’s family was in attendance, but Becky Lynch appeared and attacked Belair to end the show. However, Belair faced and defeated Lynch after the show ended in the night’s non-title dark match. The two are slated to face each other in a title match at Extreme Rules. Smackdown Date: September 17, 2021 Location: Thompson-Boling Arena, Knoxville, Tennessee Commentators: Michael Cole, Pat McAfee It’s almost time for Extreme Rules hold the extreme. So far we have nothing extreme whatsoever about the show and that is going to make for a weird card. I can imagine some matches being adjusted, though WWE is the kind of place where the show being named one thing and not having any of is not out of the question. Let’s get to it. We open with a recap of Seth Rollins beating and injuring Edge last week, with Michael Cole doing a voiceover to explain what happened. Here is the Bloodline to get things going. We see a clip of Brock Lesnar returning last week and issuing the challenge to Roman Reigns. Then the Demon showed up because he is going to be facing Reigns at Extreme Rules. The winner of that will get Lesnar at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia. Reigns tells Paul Heyman to teach these people how to acknowledge him, so Heyman goes into a speech about how Reig..
A very special honor. There are some amazing athletes in the wrestling world today and several of them are in WWE. You are going to see wrestlers from all kinds of sports backgrounds and some of them are outstanding in all kinds of sports. Now one of the best athletes that WWE has ever seen is receiving an incredible honor for what she has accomplished. SmackDown’s Bianca Belair was honored by the state of Tennessee with a special proclamation of her success in WWE. Belair sent out a tweet showing an image of the proclamation, which was given to her as WWE is returning to her hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee for this week’s SmackDown. Belair was a track star at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and is a former SmackDown Women’s Champion. WOW. What a day! ??#Knoxville#Tennessee pic.twitter.com/ILzpRUYlOC — Bianca Belair (@BiancaBelairWWE) September 17, 2021 Belair has certainly been a success in WWE. The big red political machine. In one of the more interesting wrestling stories of the last year or so, Kane has been running for Mayor of Knox County, Tennessee, which would basically make him Mayor of Knoxville, Tennessee. While this may seem like a ridiculous idea, Kane is known as one of the smartest people in the wrestling business and may have had a shot to pull it off. The primaries were held on Tuesday and Kane’s name was on the ballot. How did things come out? He certainly has a lighter side. [This post contains video, click to play] According to WATE (from Knoxville), Kane won the Republican primary by a final tally of 14,633 to 14,616 over opponent Brad Anders. While all of the precincts have been counted, the race isn’t quite over yet. The seventeen vote margin could be changed by a total of ninety three provisional ballots have to be dealt with. These ballots could or could not be counted as they have been flagged for a variety of reasons, includi..
