United States Championship Match Set For Raw This Monday

The champion never stops. WWE United States Champion Austin Theory successfully defended his championship at the 2023 Elimination Chamber premium live event. However, it didn’t take long for his next challenger to be known. Following the event, WWE held its post-show press conference, with a number of guests. The first guest was Theory, who announced that he would be issuing an open challenge to anyone for his championship this coming Monday night on Raw. Immediately after that, Edge and Beth Phoenix took the stage and, after answering questions from the media, The Rated R Superstar took the opportunity to answer Theory’s challenge, setting up a match between the two. [This post contains video, click to play] Edge and Phoenix were victorious in their match against The Judgement Day earlier in the evening. Editor’s Opinion: I like this pairing very much. Raw is emanating from Canada this week, so to see Edge have the opportunity to compete for a championship in his home country is..

By His Ruling: Lawsuit Filed Against WWE By MLW Dismissed, Case Not Over Yet

Dismissed for now. While WWE is the biggest and most powerful wrestling promotion in the world, they are certainly not the only one. The company has dominated the industry for so long but there are still several other promotions to be found. One such promotion was not happy with WWE’s actions and did something about it, but that has not turned out very well for them. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: It’s On: WWE Officially Sets Trilogy Match For Elimination Chamber In January 2022, Major League Wrestling (MLW) filed a lawsuit against WWE, claiming that WWE had interfered with MLW’s contract negotiations with Tubi and VICE TV. This week, according to PWInsider.com, US District Court Judge Edward J. Davila dismissed the case, basically saying that MLW did not make a strong enough argument to back up claims of WWE violating antitrust laws. MLW has 21 days to file an amended complaint, with MLW owner Court Bauer issuing a statement to PWInsider saying the company’s legal team is already working on..

Dominik Mysterio Discusses Rhea Ripley, Life In Prison, The Judgement Day, More

Dominik Mysterio was recently interviewed by WrestleRant and Bleacher Report, where he discussed a number of topics. Among them was his relationship with Rhea Ripley, his time in prison, the future of The Judgement Day, and more. Below are some highlights from the interview: On his relationship with Rhea Ripley: “Maybe after she choked me unconscious, I thought, ‘You know what? I think things may be able to work here. I think she’s the one to help me out,'” he said about when their chemistry clicked for him. “I think our anniversary would be the first day she beat me up. But I don’t know. I’m not going to answer questions that are going to get me trouble.” “She doesn’t like to do much and neither do I, so we just stay indoors,” Dom said. “She puts on some really scary movies and listens to really loud music. I don’t like the scary movies, but she’s pretty scary, so it all depends on what she puts on, whether it be a slasher or a horror. It’s pretty intense.” On being in priso..

Finn Balor Discusses His Conversation With Vince McMahon About Heel Turn

Finn Balor was recently interviewed by BT Sport, where he discussed his conversation with Vince McMahon about joining the Judgement Day and turning heel. This was also the evening that Edge was kicked out of the group. [This post contains video, click to play] Below are Balor’s comments: “I’ve actually never watched this back at all. This was such a weird night because I remember it was like 7:55 PM, and we’re going live at eight o’clock. I knock on Vince McMahon’s office, and I go there, and I say, ‘Sir, have you got a minute?’ He looks up from his papers, and he goes, ‘Is it about tonight?’ I said, ‘Yeah, it’s about tonight. It’s about the heel turn.’ He goes, ‘Oh, come in.’ Balor continued, “I just wanted some direction as to, ‘Hey, am I going out there in the suit? In The Judgment Day colors, or am I going out as Finn? Am I going out to music? What way are we doing it?’ He said, ‘Oh, you just go out as Finn and then do the segment.’ I said, ‘Well, oh, okay. That’s cool’. “The..

According to Xero News, WWE is considering adding a woman to the Styles/OC group to face Judgment Day at Survivor Series. This is NOT a confirmed match and there is no word on who the woman might be. Israel Adesanya Comes Out To The Undertaker’s Music

Greatness recognizes greatness. Last night at UFC 276, Israel Adesanya competed in the main event. To do so, he came out in one of the greatest entrances in UFC history; using The Undertaker’s music and imagery. You can see the entrance below: [This post contains video, click to play] From ESPN: In a clinical, albeit unspectacular, performance, Israel Adesanya outpointed Jared Cannonier via unanimous decision to retain his middleweight title in the main event of UFC 276 on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena. The judges scored the bout 49-46, 49-46, and 50-45. Adesanya’s superiority in striking was evident throughout the bout. Cannonier landed nothing of real significance, with Adesanya keeping him at a distance and picking his opponent apart with jabs and kicks to the body and legs. The crowd grew restless with the lack of thrilling action, especially in the fourth round, which was marked by boos and fans raising lit-up smartphones. But Cannonier did nothing to push Adesanya, a f..

REVIEW: Olde Wrestling In Detroit: A Different Era

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Olde Wrestling In Detroit Date: March 30, 2019 Location: The Whiskey Factory, Detroit, Michigan Commentator: Joe Dombrowski This is something I have wanted to see for a LONG time, as the promotion is set in the 1920s and features a corrupt judge, bootlegging, shoeshine boys and more. It sounded like a blast and made me grab a subscription to IndependentWrestling.TV, which sent me on a list of about 20 shows. This is the grand finale though so let’s get to it. Opening video, with old school style of course. The r..

Scott Steiner Appears On Judge Steve Harvey, Cuts Promo On Plaintiff

It’s a different kind of promo. Talking is one of the most import important parts of a wrestler’s presentation, as the fans need a reason to care about who they are seeing. Working in the ring is important, but you need to make the fans care, which is why promos can be so memorable. A good talker can mean a lot in wrestling, and now one of the more famous ones got to talk in another way. Wrestling personality Johnny Fairplay and promoter Ron Gossett appeared on the Judge Steve Harvey Show, with Fairplay attempting to college $5,000 in unpaid appearance fees. New WWE Hall of Famer Scott Steiner appeared as a surprise witness for Gossett, saying he had been paid in full for working on one of Gossett’s shows. Steiner also threatened to beat up Fairplay and offered to wrestle him for the money. Fairplay wound up winning the case and was awarded the fee. This is the second time wrestlers have appeared on the show, after JJ Dillon and Kevin Sullivan were on the show earlier this week. Ok, ..

WATCH: Wrestling Legends Appear On Judge Steve Harvey

That’s a different kind of appearance. Wrestlers are larger than life personalities by design and that has been the case for a very long time now. What makes them all the more interesting is the fact that eventually the cameras go off and the wrestlers become themselves. That often puts them into more common situations, but this time around even the normal situation had a bit of a twist. Wrestling legends JJ Dillon, under his real name of Jim Morrison, and Kevin Sullivan appeared on Judge Steve Harvey this week. The two were involved in a case involving $7,500 that Dillon loaned Sullivan to buy a boat. Dillon said to “pay him back whenever”, which Sullivan thought meant he had more time. Harvey mentioned being a wrestling fan and the two discussed some of their careers. Eventually Harvey ordered Sullivan to pay the money, though the court footed the bill as a thank you for the years of entertainment. Sullivan and Dillon agreed to remain friends after the situation was over. It was qu..

WWE Amazing Argument In Monopoly Lawsuit (This Is Kind Of Nuts)

They don’t own the whole thing. WWE is the biggest and most powerful wrestling promotion in the world. This has been the case for a long time now and no one has given WWE any kind of a serious threat for years. However, that does not mean WWE is the only wrestling promotion around, and now they have had to admit that in front of a judge as part of a lawsuit. Earlier this year, Major League Wrestling, alleging that WWE is a monopoly on the wrestling industry. WWE has since filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit and, according to Dave Meltzer, presented a copy of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, which showed that AEW defeated WWE head to head in a thirty minute period. As a result, the company showed that they were not a monopoly on the wrestling business. There is no word on if the lawsuit will be thrown out or when a decision will be made. In the WWE's response to the MLW lawsuit, besides the written response they provided an exhibit. The exhibit was the October 18, 2021 issue ..

Dynamite Date: January 5, 2022 Location: Prudential Center, Newark, New Jersey Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Jim Ross It’s the debut on TBS and that means it is time for a stacked card. We have a TBS Title match, a Tag Team Title match, and a rematch of last month’s instant classic between Hangman Page and Bryan Danielson for the World Title. AEW World Title: Bryan Danielson vs. Hangman Page Page is defending and there are three judges in case we hit the sixty minute time limit, with Mark Henry, Jerry Lynn and Paul Wight at ringside. They take their time to start and Danielson runs away a few times. Back in and Danielson dodges away again, allowing him to get in some more jumping jacks. That’s enough for Page, who sends him outside again and this time takes Danielson down. Back in and the big dive is countered with a toss into the barricade for a hard crash. Dan..

AEW Star Might Be Appearing On A Singing Competition Show

It’s a different kind of show. Wrestlers have a weird reputation when it comes to celebrity status, as you do not get to see them doing much outside of the ring. They are well known for that kind of appearance, but it is rare to see what else they can do. Now though, we might be getting to see a wrestler try something else, though seeing them is not the point this time. AEW star Marko Stunt has announced that he has tried out for the singing competition show The Voice and has even received a call back to return for the next round. The idea of the show is that the judges will decide who should continue on the show based on the person’s voice rather than their look. Stunt sang I’m Yours by Jason Mraz for his audition song and is waiting on the next round of the competition. I signed up for an open call for The Voice, for tomorrow. Wtf am I doing lol — Mr. Fun Size (@realmarkostunt) December 6, 2021 About an hour left before the open audition. I’m ready, but man I get nervous… — Mr. ..

Trish Stratus Is Getting A Very Cool New Job

It’s a new path. Wrestlers are in a weird place when it comes to celebrity status. While they are often on national television, they are often only known for being wrestlers. That often limits what kind of star power they can have, though every now and then you see someone move a few steps beyond. Now we are going to see a wrestling legend moving into a new field. WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus has announced that she will be a guest judge on the upcoming reboot of Canada’s Got Talent. The series will premiere in early 2022 after being off the air since 2012. Stratus will be one of the four judges, along with Howie Mandel, Kardinal Offishall and Lilly Singh. These Three Former WWE Stars Have Landed New Gigs

You have to do something else. Wrestlers are like normal people in that at some point, their careers are going to end. What makes things a little bit different though is the fact that wrestlers are often going to be retiring from the ring far before they are moving into traditional retirement years. They need something else to do and now several former WWE stars seem to have found at least a temporary something. Three former WWE stars have landed a new position outside of wrestling. First up, Adam Scherr, formerly known as Braun Strowman, will be serving as an analyst at the Mr. Olympia Power Arm Wrestling Championships on October 8 and 9. Next, Dean Muhtadi, formerly known as Mojo Rawley, has announced he will be the new co-host for TMZ Sports Monday thru Friday on Fox Sports 1. Finally, NBC has announced, by way of 411mania.com, that Nikki Bella will be serving as one of the judges on America’s Got Talent: Extreme, which will be debuting later this month. VIDEO: Rosario Dawson Gets Physical During AEW Return

Welcome back. AEW has been a complete game changer in the wrestling industry and that is a good thing. Above all else, it is offering wrestling fans a new top level wrestling promotion and a lot of that is due to the roster. The company has a great mixture of talent available and some of them are already established names. One such name made his return this week. This week’s AEW Dynamite saw the return of Cody Rhodes after a month’s long absense. Rhodes made his return to save actress Rosario Dawson from Malakai Black, who was threatening Dawson as she sat in the crowd. This comes after Black attacked Rhodes several weeks ago and put him on the shelf. Rhodes and Dawson are both judges on the Go Big Show. Black and Rhodes will face each other in a rematch next week at AEW Grand Slam. It should be a good one. Check out a clip from the segment plus some of their better moments in AEW: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post cont..

AEW Announces Major Return And Match For Grand Slam

Welcome back? There are a lot of names on the AEW roster and the company has added a lot of them over their still fairly short history. That being said, there are going to be some names who are just bigger stars than others. Some of these names do not appear on every show, but now we know when we are going to be seeing one of them again after his latest hiatus. During this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite, Cody Rhodes was announced for a match against Malakai Black at AEW Grand Slam on September 22. Rhodes has been absent from AEW television since August 4, when Black defeated him on Dynamite. This also comes after Rhodes finished filming the latest season of the Go Big Show, where he serves as one of the show’s judges. Rhodes is a big deal. Check out who is coming back for a rematch: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: Rhodes might not be everyone’s favorite wrestler, but there is..

AEW Dynamite Results – June 18, 2021

Dynamite Date: June 18, 2021 Location: Daily’s Place, Jacksonville, Florida Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Excalibur, Jim Ross, Taz The Friday series continues with a special match inside an MMA cage. That may or may not be your taste, but it is certainly something different, which you have to do at some point. This time around it is Jake Hager vs. Wardlow, which is about as logical of a move as you can get. Let’s get to it. Jake Hager vs. Wardlow Chris Jericho and Shawn Spears are the seconds here and it is a full octagon, complete with cage. Wardlow makes sure to turn his back on Hager during the intros, just to show off a bit more. We have three five minute rounds here and you can only win by submission or knockout (no judges). They circle each other for a bit to start until Hager starts going with the striking. Wardlow doesn’t seem to know what to do with him here as Hager hits a few shots and then walks off to let Wardlow think about it. Hager’s attempt at a double leg gets him ..

Tony Khan Speaks to AEW Talent Regarding Performing During Coronavirus Scare

Over the last week, the sports world has basically come to a halt, with many of the major sporting leagues postponing their seasons, or canceling their events altogether. This includes the NBA, MLB, NHL, PGA, NCAA, and of course the world of professional wrestling. According to the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Tony Khan spoke to the AEW talent and staff at the recent March 11 show in Salt Lake City. He told them that everyone is under no pressure to work next week’s show and that anyone who feels any illness or is stressed about travel, has permission to stay home. Furthermore, he said that nobody will be judged by the decision they make and that nobody will lose their spot or push over it. Check out the Top 5 moments from that show: Editor’s Opinion: This is true leadership from Tony Khan. There is a great deal of uncertainty in the world right now, due to this pandemic, and people should not feel any pressure to not come to work if the conditions are not sa..

WWE Scores Major Win In A Variety Of Lawsuits

So much for that. WWE is a huge wrestling company. Actually they’re a pretty big company no matter what profession we’re talking about. They have very deep pockets and all kinds of resources. That means people are going to come after them, even if there’s not much validity to the claims made. Some of those claims were brought up again in recent years, but this time they’re going in WWE’s favor. According to PWInsider.com, a US District Court Judge in Connecticut has dismissed all lawsuits currently against WWE in regards to concussions. The lawsuits, many of which have been filed by attorney Konstantine Kyros over the last several years, claimed that WWE was responsible for a variety of head injuries due to not properly advising the wrestlers on the risk of such injuries. I wonder if the lawsuit went like this. [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: That’s about the only way it could have gone. At the end of the day, wrestlers have to know what kind of risks they’re ta..

This year, Miss Money in the Bank will be determined between Raw and SmackDown performers. For most of the women, it will be their first ladder match. In particular, Sasha Banks is excited to be featured in her first Ladder Match. Most fans judge the quality of a Ladder Match by the ingenuity and creativity.
