This led to reports that Layfield would not be back on WWE TV for the time being. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Triple H pulled the plug on the story as he didn’t feel it was working. Monday Night Raw Date: January 9, 2023 Location: Legacy Arena, Birmingham, Alabama Commentators: Kevin Patrick, Corey Graves We’re back to the red show and closing in on the Royal Rumble. There are only three names announced for the Royal Rumbles so far and that means some spots need to be filled. Odds are some of that is done tonight but there is the chance that they’re leaving some surprises this year. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Here is Kevin Owens to get things going and the fans seem to like him. Before he can say much though, here is JBL to interrupt. After insulting the crowd, JBL says no one is buying Owens having a chance against Roman Reigns. JBL brings out Baron Corbin to insult the fans even more, including some University of Alabama insults. Owens buries his face in the turnbuckle as Corbin gets in every standard insult you can imagine. 11 Year WWE Veteran Reveals Locker Room’s Biggest Bully
Is that an honor? A wrestling locker room is often as something like a family, as there are always going to be a lot of different people but for the most part, they tend to get along at least at a civil level. That is not always the case with everyone though, as there is always going to be someone who causes problems, including a certain wrestling legend during his main time with WWE. During a new appearance on Wrestling Shoot Interviews, former WWE Intercontinental Champion Sean Morely, better known as Val Venis, named John Bradshaw Layfield (JBL) as the biggest backstage bully during his time with the company. Morely said that he considered JBL “a walking home entertainment center” and did not know how JBL was not fired for some of the things that he said. In addition, Morely revealed that he would follow JBL around the arena, just to hear what he would say next. Morely wrestled for WWE from 1998-2009. In the segment, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin names himself the special guest referee for a match between Michael Cole and Jerry “The King” Lawler at WrestleMania. WATCH: Bobby Roode’s Smackdown Debut
Absolutely Glorious! WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel in which they show the full debut of Bobby Roode on the main roster in 2017. He debuted on the August 22 episode of Smackdown Live. You can see the video in its entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] From our own Thomas Hall: The fans go INSANE for the entrance and Roode seems to be a face, at least for the night. They take turns posing at each other with Roode clotheslining English to the floor and sending us to a break. Back with English in control but Roode drives him into the corner for some chops. A forearm sets up the Blockbuster as JBL says Roode needs to win to get some beer money. English hits a Director’s Cut for two but walks into a spinebuster. The Glorious DDT ends English at 6:28. Mauro Ranallo Confirms The Truth Behind His SmackDown Live Departure
Before working for NXT as a commentator, Mauro Ranallo was the voice of SmackDown Live. According to Ringside News, there may be a different reason to what other websites have claimed. Ranallo left the company after working with SmackDown Live. Many outlets, including ourselves at one point, suggested based off what we had heard that Ranallo had possibly left due to JBL. Ranallo was on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani to promote the Showtime documentary he was the focus of, where he opened up about what truly happened. Check out what he had to say: “I was on the road every week. You add MMA and boxing and kickboxing to it. The road travel destroyed me.
