Adam Cole Reportedly Suffers Serious Injury At Forbidden Door

It’s always a possibility. Wrestling is a contact sport and there is always the chance that something could go wrong. You never know when you are going to see someone get hurt and be taken out of the ring. There is an even bigger chance of something going wrong during a match and unfortunately that was the case this weekend in a high profile match at Forbidden Door. This weekend’s Forbidden Door event featured a four way match for the IWGP World Heavyweight title as Adam Cole, Hangman Page and Kazuchika Okada all challenged Jay White. According to F4WOnline.com, Cole suffered a concussion during the match, which ended when Cole collapsed and was pinned by White. While not shown on screen, commentary did say that Cole walked to the back on his own power. There is no word on how long it will be before Cole can return to the ring. A Big Night: Multiple New Champions Crowned At AEW Forbidden Door

That’s the main point. Titles are often the centerpiece of a wrestling promotion because everyone understands how they work. A championship is the kind of thing that tells a fan who is the best wrestler around and one of them changing hands can make a huge difference. That was the case again this weekend, as several titles changed hands on a single night. AEW held its Forbidden Door event on Sunday night and multiple titles changed hands. First up, FTR won the IWGP Tag Team Titles by defeating Roppongi Vice and reigning champions the United Empire. FTR also retained their Ring Of Honor Tag Team Titles in the process. Next, Pac became the inaugural All-Atlantic Champion by defeating Malakai Black, Clark Connors and Miro in a four way match. Finally, Jon Moxley defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi in the main event to win the inaugural Interim AEW World Title. It Grows: AEW Announces Several New Matches For Forbidden Door

That’s what they needed. We are less than a week away from AEW’s Forbidden Door crossover show with New Japan Pro Wrestling. That is the kind of a show that you do not get to see very often and it certainly has potential to be special. There are several matches already set for the show and now that total has gotten even higher as AEW has beefed up the card. AEW added multiple matches to the Forbidden Door card this week on Dynamite. First up, the Buy-In show will include Max Caster and the Gunn Club facing Kevin Knight, Alex Coughlin and Yuya Uemura. Second, Jay White will defend the IWGP World Heavyweight Title against Kazuchika Okada, Hangman Page and Adam Cole. Finally, the Young Bucks will team with Hikuleo and El Phantasmo vs. Sting, Darby Allin, Shingo Takagi and Hiromu Takahashi. Double Shot: Two World Titles Change Hands Over The Weekend

Two for one. There are a lot of championships in wrestling but only some of them are at the top of the industry. Those top titles are among the most famous names in the history of the business and winning one of those titles can change a wrestler’s career trajectory. That was the case again this weekend, though it turns out that it happened twice in the span of two days. There was a pair of World Title changes over the weekend. On Saturday night, Trevor Murdoch won the vacant NWA World Title at Alwayz Ready, defeating Nick Aldis, Sam Shaw and Thom Latimer, becoming a two time champion. The title was vacated after Matt Cardona was forced to vacate the title due to a torn bicep. Second, Jay White won the IWGP World Heavyweight Title from Kazuchika Okada in the main event of New Japan’s Dominion event. Catch you later maybe? There are a lot of wrestling promotions throughout the world and some of the top ones are well known due to their major stars. You can see some wrestlers from around the world coming to a variety of promotions to show off their abilities. However, at some point they have to leave, and that was the case again this week as a top international star moved on. According to PWInsider.com, Jay White has finished up with Impact Wrestling and will be focusing on New Japan. White will have a busier schedule for New Japan, meaning that he will not have time for Impact Wrestling. While Impact Wrestling would love to have White back whenever possible, he is currently not booked for anything with the company. There is no word on when he could come back. Opinion: I don’t think this is the biggest surprise, as White is one of the top stars in the world while Impact Wrestling has not been a major promotion in a long time. First Match Set For Forbidden Door

The door is beginning to open. On tonight’s episode of Dynamite, we may have gotten a glimpse of the first match set for the upcoming AEW/NJPW crossover event, “Forbidden Door.” In the opening match of the show, CM Punk and FTR defeated the team of Max Caster and The Gunn Club. After the match, Punk cut a promo saying that it was time to begin selling the upcoming pay-per-view. He then issued an open challenge to anybody from NJPW to face him at the show. This brought out 8-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi, who seems to have accepted the challenge and will face Punk at Forbidden Door. Editor’s Opinion: A lot of people think that it was going to be either Okada or maybe Jay White that would be facing Punk, but Tanahashi is an excellent choice. Widely regarded as one of the best professional wrestlers of all time, this clash of styles should make for an outstanding mean event in a great way to sell the show. Impact Wrestling Date: March 17, 2022 Location: Paristown Hall, Louisville, Kentucky Commentators: Matthew Rehwoldt, Tom Hannifan We’re still on the road to Rebellion and this week features the in-ring return of Josh Alexander against Matt Taven. Alexander is back in the company after a few weeks off due to visa issues and now he is probably going to need a small bit of build on the way to his World Title shot against Moose. Let’s get to it. In Memory of Scott Hall. The opening recap looks at Josh Alexander’s return and his match with Matt Taven being set up. Motor City Machine Guns vs. Chris Bey/Jay White White and Shelley start things off with White still not giving him a handshake. Sabin comes in and a double dropkick puts White on the floor rather quickly. It’s off to Bey, who gets headlocked takeovered by Sabin, with Shelley tagging himself in for a kick to the ribs. Rampage Date: February 11, 2022 Location: Boardwalk Hall, Atlantic City, New Jersey Commentators: Excalibur, Ricky Starks, Chris Jericho, Taz This show has its work cut out for it after this week’s pretty awesome Dynamite. They do have a pretty big card already set though as the Young Bucks are back in action against Roppongi Vice. That means we could be in for a Jay White appearance as well, plus maybe something more on Jon Moxley/Bryan Danielson later. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Young Bucks vs. Roppongi Vice Orange Cassidy is here with Vice and they’re already in the ring so we’re starting fast this week. Beretta sends Nick outside to start and so Matt comes in and get punched back and forth into the corners. The Bucks get kicked down though and heads up the ramp, with Roppongi Vice giving chase. Close the door behind you. AEW has done quite a few good things for the wrestling world, including adding a new place for all kinds of new wrestlers. Some of these wrestlers are names that you might not have not seen before. One of AEW’s most interesting traditions has been allowing wrestlers from other promotions to showcase themselves on a bigger stage. That was the case again this week. This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite featured the debut of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Jay White. During the show, White attacked Roppongi Vice to assist Adam Cole and the Young Bucks. This did not sit well with the Bucks, who were unhappy with Cole for not telling him that White was coming due to White’s issues with Kenny Omega in Japan. White came to the company through the Forbidden Door concept of bringing in wrestlers who are under contract with other promotions, meaning White has not been signed to AEW.
