It Didn’t Work: Bryan Danielson Reveals How He Tried To Get Fired From WWE Job

He wanted out. There are all kinds of different WWE programs every week and not all of them involve actual wrestling. The company regularly features a variety of shows recapping recent action or focusing on interviews with wrestlers. Those shows have their own regular hosts, but a former one is now recalling a time when he was desperately trying to get off his own show. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Try Him: AEW Reportedly Planning Push For Popular Star Bryan Danielson appeared on Renee Paquette’s The Sessions podcast and discussed their time hosting Talking Smack in WWE. Danielson revealed that during some of his time on the show, he was actively trying to get fired. Danielson cited frustrations with not being medically cleared to wrestle and not wanting to be brought in for television for just Talking Smack. In efforts to get fired, Danielson would regularly bring up James Ellsworth having a “huge hog” despite being told not to by management. Eventually Danielson was cleared to return to ..

WATCH: Wrestling Legend On Who Could Take Brock Lesnar In A Bar Fight

That would be a fight. Wrestling is a unique sport as while it is presented as a legitimate fight, the finishes are pre-determined and the wrestlers are tasked with working together to make the match work as well as possible. However, there are also questions about who would win should these matches be legitimate contests. Now one legend is chiming in on who he thinks could beat a top WWE star. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Braun Strowman Gets Slapped Hard During WWE Dark Match During an interview with Wrestling Shoot Interviews, former WWE and WCW star the Barbarian was asked what would happen in a fight between Brock Lesnar and Haku. Barbarian said that he felt if the fight was structured with rules, Lesnar would win, but if it was a bar fight with no rules and both in their primes, Haku would be able to take Lesnar. Haku is often cited as the toughest wrestler in history, while Lesnar is a former UFC Heavyweight Champion and NCAA Heavyweight Wrestling Champion. These are some tal..

11 Year WWE Veteran Reveals Locker Room’s Biggest Bully

Is that an honor? A wrestling locker room is often as something like a family, as there are always going to be a lot of different people but for the most part, they tend to get along at least at a civil level. That is not always the case with everyone though, as there is always going to be someone who causes problems, including a certain wrestling legend during his main time with WWE. During a new appearance on Wrestling Shoot Interviews, former WWE Intercontinental Champion Sean Morely, better known as Val Venis, named John Bradshaw Layfield (JBL) as the biggest backstage bully during his time with the company. Morely said that he considered JBL “a walking home entertainment center” and did not know how JBL was not fired for some of the things that he said. In addition, Morely revealed that he would follow JBL around the arena, just to hear what he would say next. Morely wrestled for WWE from 1998-2009. Opinion: This might not be the biggest surprise as JBL certainly has a reputatio..

Renee Paquette (Young) Makes AEW Debut In Familiar Role

Welcome to the team. There are a lot of important roles in a wrestling show and some of them do not get the credit that they deserve. One of the most important groups is the broadcast team, including the backstage interviewers. They are often there to guide the fans in a certain directions with the questions that they ask and one of the better interviewers around today is no longer a free agent. AEW President Tony Khan has announced that Renee Paquette (formerly known as Renee Young) has officially signed a deal with the company and joined the broadcast team. Paquette made her debut this week on Dynamite and conducted multiple interviews throughout the show. Paquette is best known for her time with WWE, where she was a backstage interviewer and color commentator. She is married to AEW World Champion Jon Moxley. Welcome to the team!@ReneePaquette is ALL ELITE! See you soon coming up at 8pm ET/7pm ET on @TBSNetwork TONIGHT! pic.twitter.com/Jwcq58P6RI — Tony Khan (@TonyKhan) October 12..

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Makes Big Changes To Commentary, Two Names Returning

It’s one of the important parts. There are all kinds of things that come together to make a wrestling show work. While the wrestlers themselves are the most important part, commentary plays a very important role as well. They serve as the fans’ guide throughout the show and take the stories where they are supposed to go. Now one of the most important commentary teams will be changing. According to Variety.com, WWE is making changes to all of its commentary teams. First, Michael Cole and Wade Barrett will be calling SmackDown, with Barrett replacing Corey Graves, who was filling in for Pat McAfee, who is on hiatus. Monday Night Raw will be called by Kevin Patrick and Corey Graves, with Byron Saxton and the returning Cathy Kelley conducting interviews. NXT will be called by Vic Joseph and the returning Booker T, who called Monday Night Raw and SmackDown in the past. Finally, Cole and Graves will call major events together. Opinion: These might seem like small changes but WWE commentary..

NXT Results – August 9, 2022

NXT Date: August 9, 2022 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Vic Joseph, Wade Barrett We’re a week away from Heatwave and that means we need to get in the final push towards the show. In this case that means a few grudge matches, plus One Final Accord between Santos Escobar and Tony D’Angelo. Other than that, we have a bit of a twist with a rounds match between Wes Lee and Trick Williams. Let’s get to it. We open with a recap of Kayden Carter/Katana Chance winning the Women’s Tag Team Titles last week. We get some rapid fire interviews from people wrestling tonight, including Trick Williams, Wes Lee, Cora Jade, Zoey Stark and Tony D’Angelo. Nikkita Lyons vs. Kiana James Before the bell, we get a quick promo from Lyons and Zoey Stark, who are ready to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles. James fights out of an early suplex attempt and cranks on the arm. That’s switched to the knee, which is crushed in the corner before James takes her to the floor for ..

NXT LVL Up Results – July 22, 2022

NXT LVL Up Date: July 22, 2022 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Sudu Shah, Nigel McGuinness This show has started to change a little bit in recent weeks and that is a good thing. There have been some original interviews and even a tease of some storylines. It shouldn’t be that hard to do SOMETHING with this show but unfortunately that doesn’t seem to be WWE’s idea. Maybe they have a different idea this week though so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Thea Hail vs. Brooklyn Barlow Chase U is here with Hail. They fight over wrist control to start before trading some rollups for two each. A headlock takeover puts Hail down and we hit the armbar as commentary talks about how much Chase U appreciates Hail. Something like a seated abdominal stretch brings Hail back to life for a side slam. A standing moonsault into Hail Yeah finishes Barlow at 5:37. Result: Thea Hail b. Brooklyn Barlow – Hail Yeah (5:37) Hank Walker isn’t going to let Duke Hudson disre..

Vince McMahon Has Already Lost Something Due To Recent Allegations Against Him

So much for that. There are a lot of powerful and influential people in the wrestling world and then there is Vince McMahon. No one in the history of wrestling has come close to his level of authority and it is likely no one will ever get close again. That is the kind of status that can change the industry and now something McMahon has been accused of doing is changing something in another company. According to Denise Salcedo of Instinct Culture, the McMahon Netflix documentary series has been pulled and will not be airing. The documentary was in post production with interviews filmed several months ago and millions of dollars spent. This comes after new allegations of hush payments made by McMahon to various female WWE employees over affairs with McMahon over the years. Sources tell me that the Vince McMahon Netflix documentary has been pulled & is off the programming spreadsheet at Netflix. A source at Netflix confirmed it no longer being listed on their spreadsheet, another source..

Wrestling Legend And AEW Manager Says MJF’s Promo “Made Me Sick”

Put him down as not a fan. There are certain promos and interviews which resonate with fans for one reason or another. It might be the delivery, it might be the context and it might be what is being said, but sometimes it can be everything coming together. That was the case with a promo last week, but it seems that one wrestling legend was certainly not impressed. Last week on AEW Dynamite, Maxwell Jacob Friedman cut a promo bashing AEW President Tony Khan and the company as a whole. The promo followed Friedman no showing a scheduled meet and greet over Double Or Nothing weekend. During the latest edition of his Snake Pit podcast, Jake Roberts said that the promo “made me sick” and said the bomb that it dropped in the locker room will have repercussions. Opinion: I’m curious to see where this goes, but I am a bit more interested in the fact that Roberts, who works for AEW, is so curious to see how the locker room responds. Roberts is someone who has been around for a long time and kn..

WATCH: Wrestling Legend Hints Hulk Hogan Will Be In Ric Flair’s Final Match

That would be a way to go. One of the bigger wrestling stories over the last few weeks has been Ric Flair announcing his return to the ring. This has led to some questions, as the match is expected to be a six man tag, with Flair and FTR teaming with the Rock N Roll Express with a third person to be named. Now we might know who it might be and it could be amazing. During an appearance on Wrestling Shoot Interviews, former WWE star B. Brian Blair says that he is looking forward to seeing Flair facing Hulk Hogan, suggesting that Hogan will be the sixth man in the match. When directly asked if he knew for sure that Hogan will be the partner, Blair said that he did not know it to be true. Blair is a friend of Hogan’s and was Hogan’s first ever opponent. Opinion: This is the kind of thing that I could see happening, but at the same time I do not want it to happen. How much of a mess could it be for Hogan to be in the ring with Flair? At the end of the day, this is supposed to be about Fla..

Ric Flair Ends Podcast As Blowup With Co-Host Leads To Nasty Exchange

It’s a bad ending. The rise of podcasting has changed the way wrestlers are able to communicate with their fans. There are now all kinds of wrestling podcasts, where wrestlers are able to talk about whatever topic they choose, possibly answering fans’ questions or conducting interviews at the same time. Some of the biggest names in wrestling have a podcast, but now one of them is going to undergo a major, which didn’t come well. Ric Flair and former WCW broadcaster Mark Madden have ended their Flair Uncensored podcast, which saw Flair as host and Madden as co-host. However, the wo have gotten into a Twitter argument over what happened, which has spilled into an exchange of personal insults. Madden says that he left the show while Flair says that Madden was fired. The two went back and forth, with Flair announcing that he will be debuting a new podcast with his son-in-law Conrad Thompson starting next month. I am leaving the @FlairUncensored podcast effective immediately. It’s not a g..

AEW Star Confirms He Will Not Be Re-Signing With The Company

Catch him down the road. The AEW roster is quite the mixture of young stars, up and coming wrestlers and legends. The grouping has turned into a unique mixture, which has allowed AEW to present a wide variety of matches. AEW keeps bringing in new names though, meaning some wrestlers are going to have to leave. Now we know another one who won’t be back for the time being. During an interview with Instinct Culture, AEW’s Joey Janela announced that he will not be re-signing with the company when his contract expires on May 1. This comes after Janela had said that he would be re-signing in previous interviews. Janela said that while he is satisfied with his time in AEW, the company goes radio silent on wrestlers they are not going to renew. While he wishes AEW would talk to him more, he considers AEW President Tony Khan to be a friend and appreciates his time with the company. Opinion: This doesn’t seem to be the biggest surprise as Janela has not appeared on Dynamite or a pay per view i..

VIDEO: Wrestling Legend Announces Retirement From The Ring

Say goodbye. Wrestlers are a weird type of athlete as you never know when you are going to see someone compete for the last time. Since wrestlers can stay around longer than most mainstream athletes and can get in the ring for a one off match, retirements can be a tricky thing to keep. Now another wrestling legend has seemingly announced their retirement from the ring, seemingly for good. In an interview with Wrestling Shoot Interviews, Sabu has announced that he is likely retiring from the ring, but did leave open the door for a return. Sabu, 56 years old, says that he injured his back in a match last year and it is still causing him problems. He said that he wrestled a match earlier this year and felt he physically should not have done so as his body gave out. Instead of wrestling, he will be participating in autograph signings and personal appearances. Sabu was certainly an influence. Check out his announcement plus some of his time in the ring: [This post contains video, click t..

How Roman Reigns Is Viewed Backstage In WWE

He’s one that matters. WWE’s roster has been shaken up more than once in recent months and there is nothing to suggest that the changes are done for good. With so many moves taking place, there are bound to be some that surprise you. You would think that some wrestlers are going to be around forever because of one reason or another, and now there is someone else on that list. Roman Reigns has defended WWE and criticized AEW in recent interviews, including taking several shots at CM Punk. According to Wrestling Observer Live, none of these statements are Reigns shilling for WWE, as he is seen to be a lifer who believes everything he says about the company. It was noted that there are wrestlers, with Seth Rollins being named, who will defend WWE in interviews but don’t believe the statements themselves. Reigns is seen as someone who truly does believe his praise for WWE and would do so even if he didn’t work there. Reigns is a force in WWE. Check out some of his recent work: [This pos..

AEW Makes Permanent Change To Commentary Team

A new voice. Commentary is one of the most important parts of a wrestling show. The commentary team guides the fans through what they are watching and tells them where the promotion wants them to go. That is the kind of thing that can make or break a show and the wrong commentary team can be a bit of a mess. Now we are seeing an adjustment to one such team. AEW’s Ricky Starks was recently interviewed by WrestleTalk and revealed that he would be replacing Mark Henry as a permanent commentator on AEW Rampage. This comes after just six episodes of the show, with Henry being on commentary team since the beginning. Henry has still been conducting interviews before the main event. It is not clear if he will continue in this role going forward, or what else he will be doing for AEW. Starks is talented enough. Check out what he has done during his time in AEW: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] ..

Vince McMahon Was Smiling Over This Major WWE Match

I’d hope he’s happy. Vince McMahon might not be the most popular person among wrestling fans, but he is still by far the most powerful person in the wrestling world. If McMahon does not like something, very little else is going to matter for the time being. At the same time, if McMahon does approve of something, it could go a long way in a hurry. That might be the case again. In a new interview with GiveMeSport, Big E. talked about meeting with Vince McMahon just after he won the Money in the Bank briefcase earlier this month. While Big E. could not remember anything specific that McMahon said, he felt that the conversation was positive and that McMahon smiled at Big E. The conversation did not last long as Big E. had to do interviews, but nothing negative was said in their minute long talk. Big E. already has some interesting plans for his briefcase, which McMahon might need to approve. The two do have a bit of a history. Check out the match that made McMahon smile and his time with..

WWE Has A New Way To Sell Their Merchandise (This Is Different)

Well that’s different. WWE has been around for a long time now and has quite the history. Some of these things are better than others, as the company has certainly done a few things that are a bit less than successful. Some of these are among the most infamous in wrestling history. They have a new idea this time around and while it might not be that much of a disaster, it is certainly going to be unique. According to 411mania.com, WWE has sent out an email announcing a home shopping line, allowing fans to purchase merchandise of various WWE stars. The line will be open during this week’s edition of the Bump starting at 10am EST on WWE’s YouTube channel. The show will also include exclusive interviews with Raw Tag Team Champions AJ Styles and Omos. There is no word on if WWE will be doing this again in the future. Wrestling has a hit and miss history with merchandise stands. Check out some of the more infamous moments: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains v..

VIDEO: WWE’s Moving Tribute To Paul Orndorff

They do these well. One of the hardest things to do in wrestling, or anywhere for that matter, is say goodbye to someone. It can be even worse if you do not see it coming and unfortunately that was the case earlier this week with one of the best wrestlers of all time. Since the news only broke Monday afternoon, there was not much time to have any kind of a tribute prepared for that night. That has since changed. WWE has released a tribute to Paul Orndorff, who passed away earlier this week at age 71. The video features a brief biography of Orndorff, along with extensive footage of his in-ring career as well as clips of his interviews. While Orndorff never won a title during his time in WWE, he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2005. WWE did air an In Memory Of graphic for Orndorff on this week’s Monday Night Raw and NXT. It is quite the tribute. Check out WWE’s salute to Orndorff and a little deeper look at him: [This post contains video, click to play] ..
