Run it back. On last night’s episode of AEW Dynamite, it was confirmed that FTR will defend their ROH Tag Team championships at the 2022 Final Battle event against their rival, The Briscoes, in a Double Dog Collar match. This came about at the end of Dynamite, following The Acclaimed’s successful defense of the AEW Tag Team Championships against FTR. Colten and Austin Gunn appeared on screen and pulled a Christmas card out of a stocking. They then pulled out dog collars to review the stipulation for the match. #TheGunns @coltengunn & @theaustingunn have a gift for #FTR @CashWheelerFTR @DaxFTR It's a Double Dog Collar Match against #DEMBOYS #TheBriscoes @jaybriscoe84 @SussexCoChicken for the #ROH World Tag Team Championship at #ROHFinalBattle LIVE on PPV this SATURDAY! pic.twitter.com/fIp8H8Dkc6 — All Elite Wrestling (@AEW) December 8, 2022 FTR defeated The Briscoes at April’s Supercard of Honor to capture the ROH tag team championships. It’s a different way to go. Wrestling matches need to be well built up in order to make them feel more special. Any two wrestlers can go to a ring and have a competent match but it takes some extra care to have a memorable one. WWE has a tendency to build things up well and that is what they are trying to do again for an upcoming match, albeit in a different way than before. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Wrestling Fans Erupt Over Controversial Brock Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley Ending At Crown Jewel, Brock Lesnar defeated Bobby Lashley by reversing the Hurt Lock into a rollup for the pin. Following the match, Lashley attacked Lesnar and put him in the Hurt Lock again. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, this is likely setting up a rematch between the two, this time with Lashley as the heel. The upcoming match will be the third between the two, after Lashley defeated Lesnar at the Royal Rumble earlier this year. There is no word on when the match will take place. They’ve done this b..
Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Texas Till I Die Date: April 3, 2022 Location: St. Jude Hall, Arlington, Texas Commentators: Chris Russo, Sammy Cassel This is from New Texas Pro, which as you might guess is a local Texas promotion which ran some events over Wrestlemania XXXVIII weekend. I’m not sure what to expect from this show but there are some talented names on the card. Shows like this can go in a few different ways and hopefully this one works out well. Let’s get to it. As you might have gathered, I don’t follow the promotion so I apologi..

Mystery Vortex III Date: June 26, 2015 Location: American Legion Post #308, Reseda, California Commentators: Excalibur, Rick Knox, Chris Hero, Joey Ryan, Ethan Page This is another PWG show that someone requested I do….a few years back now, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to be a bad one. From what I understand, the gimmick of this show is that the card isn’t announced until the wrestlers are coming out of the curtain. That should make for a fun show so let’s get to it. As usual, I don’t really follow PWG so I’m..
Battle Of The Belts III Date: August 6, 2022 Location: Van Andel Arena, Grand Rapids, Michigan Commentators: Taz, Excalibur, Tony Schiavone It’s time for another of these specials and I’m not sure what to expect from something like this. AEW does not seem to be the most interested in running these shows but that very well might have a lot to do with the shows being network mandates. At least we should get some good action so let’s get to it. TNT Title: Jay Lethal vs. Wardlow Lethal, with Sonjay Dutt and Satnam Singh, is challenging. Wardlow shoves him around to start and a big toss sends Lethal outside. Lethal gets in a cheap shot though and scores with an enziguri back inside. A tilt-a-whirl slam gets Wardlow out of trouble but Lethal knocks him outside for the suicide dive. That means Lethal can get in the strut before wrapping Wardlow’s leg around the post. We take a break and come back with Lethal having to escape the powerbomb. Instead Wardlow goes with a clothesline to turn Let..

Fastlane 2017 Date: March 5, 2017 Location: Bradley Center, Milwaukee, Wisconsin Commentators: Michael Cole, Byron Saxton, Corey Graves It’s the final show before Wrestlemania XXXIII and it’s fairly clear that this is just a way to fill in time before Orlando. The main event is Kevin Owens defending the Universal Title against Goldberg, which has a serious chance of being a squash. Of course it also has the chance of Chris Jericho interfering and costing his former friend the title. Let’s get to it. Pre-Show: Noa..
Welcome back. Throughout history, there have been more wrestlers than can be reasonably counted. With so many names out there, it takes a lot to become a true star, but the names who are legends are at that level for a reason. You know a legend when you see one, and over the weekend, one of the legends of the modern era made his return to the ring for the first time in over two years. WWE Hall Of Famer Booker T. returned to the ring at the Summer Of Champions VIII event for his Reality Of Wrestling promotion. The match saw Booker T. team with the Mysterious Q, Bryan Keith, Blake Cortez and Gaspar Hernandez to face Team Sharmell. This was his first match since February 2020 when he wrestled in an eight man tag as GI Bro. There is no word on when his next match will take place. Got to step back in the ring last night at Reality of Wrestling and it felt GOODT! pic.twitter.com/43VmeFdOjz — Booker T. Huffman (@BookerT5x) July 10, 2022 Opinion: This is one of those things that is always ..
We have some sad news to report today as former WWE referee David Hebner passed away at 73. David’s nephew, Brian, took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the unfortunate news: I’m so sad. Just don’t really know what to say. Today we lost one of the good ones…….My uncle David. He was one of the best humans in the world. Thank you all for all the outpouring of messages and support. This is a tough one. I Love You Uncle David. God got a good one. I’m so sad. Just don’t really know what to say. Today we lost one of the good ones…….My uncle David. God got a good one. ? — Brian Hebner (@babyhebner) June 18, 2022 From WWE.com: Throughout a storied career, Hebner found himself at the center of some of WWE’s most iconic moments. Hebner officiated the classic showdown between Randy Savage and Ricky Steamboat at WrestleMania III, and the cl..

Wrestlemania XXXVIII Night Two Date: April 3, 2022 Location: AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Texas Attendance: 78,453 Commentators: Michael Cole, Pat McAfee, Byron Saxton, Corey Graves, Jimmy Smith America The Beautiful: Jesse James Decker We’re back for night two and that means the other half of the card gets their chance (plus one match from the original night because of timing issues). The main event is the latest biggest match ever as Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar have their unification match to make one World Title ..
Wrestlemania XXXVIII Night One Date: April 2, 2022 Location: AT&T Stadium, Arlington, Texas Attendance: 77,899 Commentators: Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton, Michael Cole, Pat McAfee America the Beautiful: Brantley Gilbert We have arrived at the biggest weekend in wrestling and this time it is back in the full capacity stadium. Again, this year’s show is split in two and again it feels like there is a good one night in between the two shows. That was the case last year though and the first night went well so maybe history can repeat itself. Let’s get to it. Note that I was in attendance for this show, sitting in the third level off the floor in the end zone corner with the stage on my right. Brantley Gilbert sings America the Beautiful. Mark Wahlberg stars in the opening video and talks about how these people have a chance for a Texas sized helping of greatness. That is easier said than done though, as it is not easy to reach that level. Everyone has a chance though, so go ..
Dang it feels like we only did one of these things yesterday. It is time for the second night of Wrestlemania XXXVIII and they’re actually going to have their work cut out for them to do better than the first night. While I doubt anything is approaching Steve Austin actually having a match, there is a major main event that is going to have a lot behind the whole thing. Let’s get to it. Johnny Knoxville vs. Sami Zayn This is an Anything Goes match so Knoxville and his friends can get together and do a variety of wacky things to Zayn. That isn’t the most interesting way to go if you aren’t a Jackass fan, but this is a celebrity appearance that might work out. The point of Jackass seems to be seeing things happen to its cast so having Knoxville in a match is as good as anything else. I’ll take Knoxville to win for the “feel good” moment, as Zayn has long since proven that he can take a loss like few others. I’m not sure how well the match is going to be but it should be a heck of a spe..
In the words of new WWE Hall of Famer Vader, it’s time. It is time for Wrestlemania XXXVIII and that means the card has finally (and I do mean finally) been set. We now know what to expect on each night and the card is…well it certainly exists. There are some interesting matches on both nights, though I’m not sure what to expect from the show. That can make it fun though so let’s get to it. Smackdown Tag Team Titles: Usos(c) vs. Rick Boogs/Shinsuke Nakamura Since the New Day is busy, the Usos actually need someone else to fight for once. That opens the door for Boogs and Nakamura, who at least seem like a team. How can you not be ready for a title match after doing Toyota commercials together? This should be good enough as Nakamura knows how to work well with anyone and Boogs is basically an ox with a guitar. I’ll go with new champions here, on the grounds of “well, someone has to beat the Usos.” They feel like they have held the titles forever, so let the new team get the belts off..

Wrestlemania VIII Date: April 5, 1992 Location: Hoosier Dome, Indianapolis, Indiana Attendance: 62,167 Commentators: Gorilla Monsoon, Bobby Heenan This was one of the names mentioned for a possible redo so I’ll throw it in as a bonus. On his podcast, Bruce Prichard mentioned this as one of the worst Wrestlemanias ever and I’m really not sure why. The show features a double main event with Ric Flair defending the WWF World Title against Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan’s possible retirement match against Sid Justice. Le..

Wrestlemania XVIII Date: March 17, 2002 Location: SkyDome, Toronto, Ontario, Canada Attendance: 68,237 Commentators: Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler The advertised main event here is Chris Jericho defending the WWF Title against HHH. I say advertised because there’s a match on the card that really is the main event. Back in February, the New World Order debuted in the WWF, meaning Kevin Nash (Diesel), Scott Hall (Razor Ramon) and Hulk Hogan himself made their returns. Hogan got right to the point as well, accepting a Wrest..
Ring Of Honor Date: March 2, 2022 We have one more Hall of Fame special here and this time we are looking at CM Punk. This is one of the big ones as Punk played such a role in putting Ring of Honor on the map. Between his feuds with Raven and Samoa Joe, plus the Summer of Punk, there is a lot to pick from here and that makes things all the more fun. Let’s get to it. We open with Punk’s Hall of Fame video, including a look at straightedge, plus the highlights of his Ring of Honor career. From Death Before Dishonor III on June 18, 2005. Ring of Honor World Title: CM Punk vs. Austin Aries Aries is defending and drives Punk up against the ropes off a lockup. With that not going anywhere, they fight over a series of standing switches until Punk backs him into the corner for a break. Aries is back up with a middle rope elbow to the face before grinding away on a headlock. Punk reverses to a headscissors to work on Aries’ bad neck, allowing commentary to talk about all of the great things..
The course of history was shifted forever. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel in which they show the full segment from the April 4, 2011 episode of RAW when John Cena and The Rock make their WrestleMania XXVIII (28) match official. You can see the segment in its entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] Here’s how the match went down: Shortly after the bell rang, Cena sent The Rock tumbling with a show of power to send an early message to start the contest. The Rock didn’t flinch and promptly returned the favor with a shove of his own that tossed Cena down to the canvas. The Great One proved that he didn’t miss a beat despite the ring rust, as he executed a couple of hip tosses and a very crafty la magistral rollup for a near-pinfall. Cena looked shocked as he took a breather in the corner of the ring. After Rock managed to slip out of an Attitude Adjustment attempt, he nailed the much-anticipated People’s Elbow, but it still wouldn’t be enough to d..
Royal Rumble 2022 Date: January 29, 2022 Location: The Dome At America’s Center, St. Louis, Missouri Attendance: 44,390 Commentators: Jimmy Smith, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton, Michael Cole, Pat McAfee We are officially kicking off the Road to WrestleMania XXXVIII and that means things should be starting big here. First up we have the Royal Rumbles themselves, plus what should be a pair of awesome World Title matches as Brock Lesnar defends against Bobby Lashley and Seth Rollins challenges Roman Reigns. Let’s get to it. Note that I was in the stadium for this, sitting in the upper deck with the Titantron on my right. No Kickoff Show matches this year, which was a bit weird. The opening video looks at the start of the Road To Wrestlemania, with a look at just about everything on tonight’s card. Cool, even if it isn’t breaking new ground. Smackdown World Title: Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins Rollins is challenging and comes out to the Shield theme, including in the Shield gear. He eve..
It’s the Christmas season and that means a lot of people are going to be focusing on gifts (which does at least tie into the more important part of Jesus’ (look him up, as I hear there’s a good book about him) birth). Since I’m kind of a Christmas freak, that sounds like a good place to bring wrestling, which is where we’re going today. This week we’re looking at wrestlers focusing on their in-ring gifts, which unfortunately has become a bit more complicated than it needs to be. Back at Wrestlemania XIII, Shawn Michaels was doing guest commentary for the main event between Sid and Undertaker. As tended to be the case with almost any of his matches, Sid was wrestling a power style, which was not the most in-depth in the world. However, as Michaels pointed out, the power had gotten him all the way to the WWF Title, so why would he switch things up now? The power was his gift, and that is where we are starting today. One of the common criticisms that you will hear from some fans is that..
