Next Up? Former NXT Champions Working Upcoming WWE Live Events
Maybe they’re next? WWE has a lot of talented stars up and down their roster, but the Monday Night Raw and SmackDown rosters are firmly above NXT. The NXT wrestlers are developmental stars whose ultimate goal is to make it to one of the main roster shows. It can be a huge deal when they get to make their debuts on the bigger shows, and now two stars will be doing so, at least in a way. Tribute To The Troops 2022 Date: December 17, 2022 Location: Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Indianapolis, Indiana Commentators: Michael Cole, John Bradshaw Layfield It’s time for another of the annual holiday specials, though in this case this was tacked on after a TV taping over a month ago. These shows are basically short form house shows with a healthy dose of “WE LOVE THE TROOPS” thrown in. There are almost no expectations for one of them as a result so let’s get to it. We get the presentation of the colors and Star Spangled Banner, led by someone who sang it at the 2009 Tribute To The Troops. The opening video looks at the history of Tribute To The Troops, featuring several clips from the original shows and not so many from the recent editions. Injured AEW Star Undergoes Surgery, Hopes To Breathe Again
That should fix her. Injuries are terrible to see in wrestling as you never know when someone is going to be put on the shelf for any amount of time. That is something that cannot be prepared for and no one is immune to them. After someone gets hurt, the only thing left to do is wait for them to get back in the ring. Now an injured star is on the way back to health. Back at the All Out: Zero House show, Ruby Soho and Ortiz unsuccessfully challenged Sammy Guevara and Tay Melo for the AAA Mixed Tag Team Titles. During the match, Soho suffered a broke nose and has not wrestled since. Soho has posted an image to Twitter, suggesting that she has undergone surgery to repair the damage. AEW Rampage Results – September 23, 2022 (Grand Slam)
Rampage Date: September 24, 2022 Location: Arthur Ashe Stadium, New York City, New York Commentators: Excalibur, Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, Chris Jericho It’s the biggest Rampage of the year as we are in New York City for a stacked two house show. The card is headlined by a battle royal (shocking I know) for the #1 contendership as we have a title shot to get through before Full Gear. Other than that, there are a bunch of grudge matches so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. House Of Black vs. Sting/Darby Allin No DQ and Sting/Allin pop up behind the House (Brody King/Buddy Matthews with Julia Hart) during their entrances to start the fight on the stage. NXT LVL Up Date: July 1, 2022 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Sudu Shah It’s the second half of the year and odds are that is not going to make the slightest bit of difference around here. This show has gotten into another funk as of late and I wonder if that is due to the NXT house show circuit starting up again. KB’s Review: Survival Of The Laziest
I’ve been watching wrestling for a very long time and one of my favorite VHS (look it up) tapes was Survivor Series 1987. The late 80s WWF is my favorite era of wrestling ever and this show (plus the next few years) had almost everyone you could want to see on a WWF show from this time. You had a midcard match with ten wrestlers, a women’s match with ten wrestlers, a tag match with twenty (!) wrestlers and a main event match with ten more, including Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant for the first time since the most famous match in history. That’s the kind of thing that made me always want to see the Survivor Series. Where else were you going to see Rick Rude vs. Hulk Hogan or Strike Force vs. Demolition or Randy Savage vs. Hercules (outside of house shows)? It was the kind of card that gave you such a buffet of options and it was awesome to see every single year….at least up until you reach a certain point. What To Expect From WWE’s Upcoming Live Events
Something to look forward to. The wrestling world is starting to get back to normal after a very long time of things being a huge mess. Wrestling fans will be back at full attendance for the two major American promotions next month and it is going to make for a huge change of pace. WWE is going to be back on the road for house shows as well and now we know something about them. The websites for the Hertz Arena in Fort Myers, Florida and the Stephen O’Connell Center in Gainesville, Florida are advertising a main event of Drew McIntyre and Kofi Kingston teaming up against MVP and Bobby Lashley for the main events on August 7 and 8 respectively. These are the only matches announced for the shows so far. WWE Is Going Back On The Road Even More Than Previously Announced
On the road again. The Coronavirus pandemic has changed the way the wrestling industry works, though things are finally starting to get back to normal. Possibly the biggest change that has taken place in recent weeks has been the announcement of WWE returning to touring with fans in July. It turns out that it will not just be the two main roster shows going back on the road. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the NXT roster has been told that they will be going back on the road in July. This will be a return to their Florida house show circuit known as the Coconut Loop, featuring shows with 200-400 fans in attendance. It is expected that Coronavirus vaccinations will be required as it is unlikely that a mask policy could be enforced in these markets. WWE has yet to announce any NXT live events. Here’s What Was Originally Planned For Dean Ambrose At WrestleMania 35
Who else was on the Lunatic Fringe? One of the most interesting stories of the year so far has been the contract status of Dean Ambrose. WWE announced that he would be leaving the company in April and has gone so far as to pull him from future house shows. Before Ambrose decided to try his hand elsewhere, something was in the works for him and it turns out that it was going to be a big deal. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Ambrose was scheduled to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 35 in what was likely to be a match for the Universal Title. The plans were changed back in October when Reigns announced that he was suffering from leukemia, meaning that any plans were thrown out the window. Since then, Ambrose decided to not re-sign with the company and he currently is not scheduled for a WrestleMania match. They’ve headlined a show for a title before. Video: Injured Superstar Back In The Ring
Welcome back. You never know how injuries are going to work in wrestling. Sometimes these things aren’t as bad as others, but there are some things that keep wrestlers out of the ring for a very long time. That seems to have been the case with one of the more high profile wrestlers on the Monday Night Raw roster, but an update over the weekend seems to offer some good news. According to Wrestlinginc.com, Alexa Bliss worked a match at a house show last night last night. Bliss was hosting her Moment of Bliss segment with Natalya when Lacey Evans interrupted and attacked. Nikki Cross made the save, setting up a tag match where Natalya made Bliss tap to the Sharpshooter. Bliss has been out of the ring for a long time, with only two televised matches since October. There is no word on when she will be back in the ring on Monday Night Raw. This has happened more than once lately. Photographic Rumor: Two Top WWE Stars May Be Dating.
Royal Rumbles make for romance? Wrestling is a weird place as you have people running all over the country (and the world) due to how hectic their schedules are. It’s not out of the question to have the top WWE stars working 250 dates a year, which can make for some rough patches as far as having personal lives. It turns out that two people might be able to make it work. According to Ringsidenews.com, Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch may be dating. The two have been seen at a variety of places outside of WWE, along with Rollins showing up at a SmackDown Live house show about 100 miles from his home in Iowa. Neither has made any comment on this and there is of course the chance that this is merely just a coincidence between two people who work together. Recently Departed WWE Superstar Returns At House Show
He’s not done just yet. Earlier this month on Monday Night Raw, Heath Slater defeated Rhyno in a match where the loser would be out of a job. While Slater has gone on to become a crooked referee, Rhyno seems to be looking for a new line of work. However, much like anything else in wrestling, there seems to be a little more to this than meets the eye. According to Wrestlinginc.com, Rhyno appeared at a WWE house show on Friday in Nashville, despite losing his career earlier in the month. After being on the losing end of a six man tag, Curt Hawkins made an open challenge in hopes of breaking his losing streak, which has now lasted over two years. Hawkins issued an open challenge so Rhyno came through the crowd and Gored him without a match actually starting. There is no word on if or when Rhyno will return to WWE TV. It was a hard way to go.
