Impact Wrestling Results – March 2, 2023

Impact Wrestling Date: March 2, 2023 Location: Sam’s Town Hotel & Gambling Hall, Las Vegas, Nevada Commentators: Tom Hannifan, Matthew Rehwoldt We are done with No Surrender and that means we are at least one step closer to Rebellion in April. Josh Alexander is still the World Champion after retaining over Rich Swann, but now Steve Maclin is waiting on the champ. That should make for a good buildup and they have time to make it work. Let’s get to it. We open with a recap of No Surrender. Here is the Bullet Club for a chat to start. Chris Bey is rather happy about what he and Ace Austin have been doing lately, including beating the Motor City Machine Guns (in a six man tag) at No Surrender. Bey talks about helping set up the ring in this building before making his Impact Wrestling debut here as well. It turns out that Austin debuted here too but he would rather talk about beating Chris Sabin. After revealing Austin’s “I BEAT CHRIS SABIN”, we get a quick audience poll over who the be..

Kurt Angle Almost Drowned On Recent Vacation

That’s not good. WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle recently told a story on his podcast on AdFreeShows.com, about how he almost drowned on a recent vacation to Florida. Angle said the following: “We went to Miami, Florida,” Angle said. “The temperature was 80 degrees. We spent so much time on the beach. They had a wonderful pool at the hotel. It was a blast. I actually took my kids jet skiing. My first kid that I put on the back for me to ride them because they’re too young to drive themselves, I put her on the back and we went out, and when I went to make a turn, I slowed down and stopped, I wanted to make a turn and I didn’t put the accelerator on when I was turning and we flipped over. We went into the ocean.” “Now, Thank God my daughter is like an Olympic-caliber swimmer. I even had the safety vest on me, but it wasn’t working. I was still sinking. I can’t swim. So I’m in trouble. I couldn’t get above water. I was going under. My daughter kept her composure. The jet ski got away from..

Thank Goodness: Jim Ross Reveals How He Saved WWE Hall Of Famer’s Life

Bigger than wrestling. There are all kinds of names in wrestling history, but very few have had the impact as Jim Ross. Over the years, Ross has been an on-air personality as well as a WWE executive who had several responsibilities behind the scenes. Ross is a true legend of wrestling, but now he is telling a story about something he did for a wrestler which was way more important than anything in a ring. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Farewell Then: Wrestling Legend Reveals His Upcoming Retirement Plans During a recent edition of his Grilling JR podcast, Ross told a story about talking to Sgt. Slaughter in a hotel. Slaughter got in the elevator and collapsed, with Ross believing he had suffered a seizure. Ross saw what happened and had someone call an ambulance, in addition to pulling Slaughter out of the elevator. Slaughter was able to receive medical attention and made it out of the situation in good health. That is an amazing story. Check out some more of Ross and Slaughter in better da..

Trevor Murdoch Once Punched Out Irate Fan To Save Randy Orton

That could have been a lot worse. Wrestlers have to do a lot of things right to make a match or event come together in the right way. Above all else, they are tasked with making fans care about them in one way or another, which can be rather difficult. At times, they can be too good at their job and a fan can take things a bit too far. A former WWE star has quite the story about how a fan got out of hand and had to be dealt with quickly. Former WWE star and reigning NWA World Champion Trevor Murdoch appeared on the 10 Count podcast and talked about a time in a hotel bar in Ireland with then WWE Champion Randy Orton. A fan came up to Orton and asked for an autograph, which Orton gave him. The fan then insisted on getting something else signed, which Orton declined and asked to be left alone. This caused the fan to go into a tirade against Orton, shouting about how the fans pay his salary. The fan was taken away by security but was waiting for Orton in the foyer later in the night. Mur..

REVIEW: New Japan Lonestar Shootout: Half Of A Heck Of A Night

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Lonestar Shootout Date: April 1, 2022 Location: Fairmont Hotel, Dallas, Texas Attendance: 582 Commentators: Kevin Kelly, Matthew Rehwoldt So this is an interesting one as it is part of the NJPW Strong promotion, but there were two shows taped here. First up was the Lonestar Shootout special, followed by a regular TV show. That wasn’t mentioned during the night so this will be split in two rather than the one night that I watched it live. Let’s get to it. I don’t follow New Japan Strong so I apologize in advance f..

REVIEW: WrestleCon USA vs. The World 2022: The Better Version

WrestleCon: USA vs. The World Date: April 2, 2022 Location: Fairmont Hotel, Dallas, Texas Commentators: Ian Riccaboni, Veda Scott This is about as obvious of an idea as you can get: take a bunch of wrestlers from WrestleCon weekend and put them in a bunch of matches, one country vs. the rest. This show has a tendency to be one of the weaker of the WrestleCon offerings but there are some talented people on the card. Let’s get to it. Warrior Wrestling Lucha Libre Title: Sam Adonis (USA) vs. La Hiedra (World) vs. Mr..

Vince McMahon, Stephanie, Triple H & Pat McAfee Appear at UFC 276

Their night wasn’t done, last night at UFC 276, several celebrities and superstars were in attendance. This included the McMahon family, as well as Pat McAfee, who took in the show. You can see their brief appearance below: [This post contains video, click to play] Earlier in the night, WWE hosted their 2022 Money in the Bank pay-per-view event, which was held at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas. At the conclusion of the show, McAfee was attacked by Baron Corbin, setting up a match between the two at SummerSlam. This is why he was in the neck brace, to further sell his injuries. UFC was held at the T-Mobile arena, also in Las Vegas. The main event saw Israel Adesanya defeat Jared Cannonier by unanimous decision to retain his Middleweight championship. Editor’s Opinion: I love stuff like this. I know that everyone is going to say that Vince McMahon shouldn’t be doing what he’s doing, considering all of the legal trouble that he is in right now. But I don’t see any problem with hi..

Things Change: AEW May Have Had Very Different Plans For The Tag Team Titles

That would have been different. Title matches are some of the most important parts of any wrestling show. A title changing hands can mean a new direction for the wrestlers or perhaps even the promotion as a whole. It can be a big deal to see a title change hands and that was the case again this week. However, it seems that things did not change as originally planned. The main event of this week’s AEW Dynamite saw the Young Bucks win the AEW Tag Team Titles from Jurassic Express in a ladder match. The match was originally supposed to include the Hardys but Jeff Hardy’s arrest resulted in the team being pulled. According to Fightful Select, some AEW wrestlers had heard plans of a possible Tag Team Title run for the Hardys before Double Or Nothing. However, Hardy was reportedly intoxicated in the hotel lobby over Double Or Nothing weekend. This combined with the Hardys vs. Bucks match at the pay per view ended any discussion of the Hardys winning the titles. Opinion: The Hardys are in a..

Chris Jericho And MVP Had Altercation Last Month In Houston Hotel

These things do happen. Wrestlers are larger than life characters who get into physical altercations every single week on television. That can make for some very compelling moments, but there are also things that happen with them behind the scenes which can be all the more interesting. That seems to have been the case with two prominent modern wrestlers. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW’s Chris Jericho and WWE’s MVP got in a verbal altercation at a hotel in Houston on May 18. Around 1am, MVP arrived at the hotel and ran into Jericho and Matt Hardy. The incident did not get physical but was said to be “tense”, with Jericho getting to an elevator and saying he “doesn’t fight jobbers” as MVP was screaming in the lobby. It is not clear what caused the issue or if the two have resolved it since. MVP has commented on the situation on Twitter, suggesting that the incident took place but that the details were wrong. Even when they get the story right, they get the details ..

REVIEW: WrestleCon Supershow 2022: Featuring A Lot

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? WrestleCon Supershow 2022 Date: March 31, 2022 Location: Fairmont Hotel, Dallas, Texas Commentators: Ian Riccaboni, Veda Scott This is one of the biggest and most interesting shows of Wrestlemania Weekend as you do not know what you are going to get on any given show. Some of the matches are going to be announced in advance, but sometimes you are just going to get some wrestlers without opponents. This is the non-WWE ticket I make sure to get every year and this was no exception. Let’s get to it. I was in the are..

REVIEW: Multiverse Of Matches: When Worlds Bump Into Each Other

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Multiverse Of Matches Date: April 1, 2022 Location: Fairmont Hotel, Dallas, Texas Commentators: Tom Hannifan, Matthew Rehwoldt This was a show that got my attention as it has a pretty nice card with a lot of things going on. The idea is that there are multiple companies coming together with some representatives for some matches we might not have seen before. That should be enough, even if this is just a side trip on the way to Rebellion. Let’s get to it. I was in attendance for this show, sitting opposite the ent..

Johnny Knoxville Broke Down Brock Lesnar’s Hotel Room Door

That doesn’t seem to be the best idea. Wrestling is as unique of a form of entertainment as you can get, as the wrestlers are required to make everything look as real as possible while being as safe as possible. That is a heck of a trick, but there are some wrestlers who can cause some very real damage if they need to. It would not be logical to go after them, but that is what took place recently. Brock Lesnar appeared on the Pat McAfee Show this week and told a story of how Johnny Knoxville broke down Lesnar’s hotel room door. Lesnar was in St. Louis for the Royal Rumble and had a private room at his hotel. He was told that Knoxville and the cast of Jackass was there as well, so Lesnar sent over a bottle of wine. Soon thereafter, Knoxville broke down Lesnar’s door so Lesnar came outside and put Jackass member Wee Man through a table. According to Lesnar, none of this was planned in advance. There is a lot here. Check out the full interview: [This post contains video, click to play]..

Former WWE World Champion Seen Meeting With Impact Wrestling Boss

That’s sounding serious. WWE and AEW get most of the attention in the wrestling world but there are all kinds of other promotions out there, many of which have a lot to offer. Several promotions can easily be seen by the masses and that makes for some very nice opportunities for wrestlers around the world. One big name might be about to move on to one of them. According to PWInsider.com, former WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman met with Impact Wrestling executive Scott D’Amore over the weekend. The two met at a hotel bar in Detroit, where the Motor City Comic Con was being held. The meeting was said to last for “a long time” and comes after Strowman has reportedly been in negotiations with Impact Wrestling. Impact Wrestling has been working on surprises for next Saturday’s Bound For Glory event. He might be bound for Impact. Check out what Strowman can do in the ring: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video..

WWE Star Loses Title (And More) Over The Weekend

I hope she kept the receipt. Wrestlers are a weird breed as they have a lot of things to keep track of every day. In addition to being in the ring, they are required to go from one town to the next multiple times a week while mainly living in and out of hotels. That can be rather difficult to manage, and now something has gone wrong that was not even the wrestler’s fault. WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Rhea Ripley has asked for help finding her lost bag in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Ripley said that the bag contained her ring gear, as well as her Tag Team Title belt. She also asked if any fans see her gear being sold online to please let her know. Ripley was in New Mexico for a live event on Saturday night. There is no word on if she will have other gear for her next televised appearance. *LOST GEAR BAG* My MosherZ of Albuquerque I know this is a stretch but, if any of you have seen a black travel suitcase around Office Boulevard & Montaño rd please hold onto it and let me know. It has ..

He Said They Said? Braun Strowman Denies Reports Of High Appearance Fee

He’s worth it? Several WWE wrestlers have been released from the company this year and the series of moves have changed the way the company looks. That is the kind of thing that you do not get to see take place very often, but it makes for some interesting changes. Some of these changes involve the wrestlers themselves, and now we know how one of them seems to be moving forward. According to PWInsider.com, former WWE star Braun Strowman’s asking price for an independent wrestling appearance is in the “five figure range”. Strowman has responded to the report, saying that he has not spoken to anyone about bookings and “thanking” the reports for causing confusion. However, PWInsider is standing by their reporting, saying that Strowman’s agent has quoted the price of, $20,000 – $25,000 for a three hour Strowman appearance, plus first class airfare, two nights hotel stay, plus meals and transportation. Let me just get this FYI out. I have not spoken to anyone about bookings. But if you wa..

Top WWE Star Self Quarantining After Finishing WrestleMania

That’s a big hit. There are a lot of wrestlers who might not be around very frequently due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus. At the end of the day, several of them are not comfortable with going out to the ring and performing when there is a chance that they will not be healthy as a result. Some have already dropped out of WrestleMania and one more will be gone just after it. Daniel Bryan is a special wrestler to put it mildly. He is one of the most popular wrestlers to come along in ages and has the in-ring abilities to back it up. There is something about him that makes you want to like him and hopefully he gets to be around as long as he wants to this time. However, he might be taking some time away from the ring due to the Coronavirus, but not for the traditional reasons. During this week’s edition of the Bellas podcast, Bryan’s husband Brie Bella mentioned that Bryan will be self quarantining in a hotel near his home after WrestleMania. Bella is pregnant at the moment and Brya..

Impact Wrestling Results – March 29, 2019

Impact Wrestling Date: March 29, 2019 Location: Sam’s Town Hotel & Gambling Hall, Las Vegas, Nevada Commentators: Don Callis, Josh Matthews We’re still in Las Vegas and on the way to the both United We Stand and Rebellion, meaning it’s hard to say what we’re going to be seeing in the next few weeks. I’m hoping we get something fresh in the main event again like last week, as a break from the seemingly never ending World Title story was a welcome change of pace. Let’s get to it. Opening recap and preview, this time with narration for a change. Opening sequence. Here are LAX and the Lucha Bros for an unsanctioned fight, meaning the Tag Team Titles aren’t on the lines. The fight is on in a hurry with a worried Konnan watching from ringside. Security is out in a hurry and the fans want to seem them fight. The Bros superkick security and manage to sneak up on LAX with a pair of chair shots. Now it’s table time but LAX gets up with a pair of spinebusters to put them through the tables in..

Impact Wrestling Results – March 22, 2019

Impact Wrestling Date: March 22, 2019 Location: Sam’s Town Hotel & Gambling Hall, Las Vegas, Nevada Commentators: Don Callis, Josh Matthews It’s title time as Rich Swann defends the X-Division Title against Sami Callihan, who is ticked off over Swann turning down the chance to join OVE. Other than that we’re likely to get some fallout from Johnny Impact turning heel last week, which is probably best for everyone. Let’s get to it. The opening recap looks at everything going on around here, including Moose beating up the Rascalz, Jordynne Grace becoming #1 contender and the World Title situation. Opening sequence. Moose vs. Trey Miguel Fallout from the Rascalz making fun of their clothes and not getting anywhere with Melissa Santos. Miguel goes for the legs to start and actually pulls off a hurricanrana. Moose gets sent to the floor a few times but a suicide dive won’t even put him off his feet. The second attempt is countered into a release apron bomb but Trey slips out of another o..

Impact Wrestling Results – December 13, 2018

Impact Wrestling Date: December 13, 2018 Location: Sam’s Town Hotel & Gaming Hall, Las Vegas, Nevada Commentators: Josh Matthews, Don Callis This needs to be a good show as the next two episodes are going to be Best Of 2018 editions, meaning this is the last chance to set up Homecoming until the go home show. They’ve got a big main event with Moose vs. Brian Cage, which should see both guys beating each other up very well. Let’s get to it. The opening recap looks at the big stories. Opening sequence. Ultimate X Qualifying Match: Rich Swann vs. Dave Crist Jake Crist and Sami Callihan are at ringside with Dave. Crist sits in the corner for a long time to start, which is enough to lure Swann in to a false sense of security and a big boot. Stomping and choking ensue in the corner, followed by Swann being sent to the floor so Jake Crist can drop Swann on the apron. Back in and Swann starts hamming away with right hands (and some dancing of course), followed by a Lethal Injection for two..
