To the other side? No matter how talented a wrestler might be, there is always going to be a time when they need some kind of a freshening up. Maybe they need a different look or a different character, but occasionally the right answer is a different direction. The most common version of this is to have a wrestler turn good or bad, and now two WWE stars are teasing such a change. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: Second Generation Star Signs With WWE The main event of this week’s SmackDown saw Madcap Moss fall short in his challenge for Gunther’s Intercontinental Title. Moss had his girlfriend Emma in his corner, with Emma having hyped up his chances earlier in the night. After the match, WWE released a video of Emma and Moss blaming the fans for not supporting them. Emma later tweeted that they “deserve better”, signaling a possible heel turn for the two. After a huge win last week I was honestly a bit disappointed with the crowd reaction last night. We deserve better.. http..
It happens to everyone. There are all kinds of wrestlers in the world and some of them have been around for quite a long time. It is interesting to find someone who has had the kind of career that spans several decades as they have seen just about everything that there is to see. At some point though, everyone has to hang up their boots and that might be happening again. AEW’s Dustin Rhodes has posted a tweet discussion his status in wrestling. Rhodes, 53, says his old age has caught up with him and that he is doing some “heavy thinking” about his next step. He also says that time comes for everyone and that he is kind of scared. Rhodes does NOT say that he is retiring or anything similar in specific. Rhodes has only wrestled five times this year, with his most recent match taking place on August 24. Man, old age has caught up to me guys. As much as I push myself beyond my limits, I can honestly say, I am doing some heavy thinking about the next step. We all think we can go forever w..
Fare thee well? AEW has come a very long way and has done all kinds of things in just over three years of their existence. That is not something that should be taken lightly and a lot of its credit goes to the wrestlers. The company has done a great job of building up the roster, but not everyone can stick around forever. Now it seems that another of its stars may be on the way out. Dark Order member Alan “5” Angels has blacked out his Twitter account and says that he is excited for what comes next. While not confirmed, this could suggest that Angels is on his way of AEW, as multiple stars have been leaving the company as their contracts expire. Angels has not wrestled on either Dynamite or Rampage since March. He has yet to specifically stage that he is leaving AEW. Excited for what’s next — Alan Angels (@Alan_V_Angels) June 28, 2022 Opinion: Honestly, this isn’t the biggest surprise in the world, as Angels has barely been appearing in recent months. It doesn’t help that Angels wa..
That could have been different. There are a lot of things that have to come together to make a wrestler work out. If one of those things are missing or off, the whole thing might not come together. One of the biggest is the wrestler’s name and getting it wrong can be quite the detriment for a wrestler. It seems that WWE almost had a very interesting choice for a returning wrestler last year. In a new interview with Inside The Ropes, Davey Boy Smith Jr. revealed that there were plans to give him a new gimmick during his 2021 WWE return. Smith would have worn his father’s vest and gone under the name the Stampede Stud. The plan had been for him to appear on SmackDown but he never wrestled on television before being released from the company in November 2021. Opinion: Honestly, Stampede Stud isn’t exactly a bad name and I could see something like this working. It sounds better than Davey Boy Smith Jr. or having the same nickname as his father. Smith was always in great shape and they co..
His vision his elsewhere. Earlier today, WWE superstar Mustafa Ali sent a tweet out requesting that he be released from the company. The tweet featured a short video, with the following message: “I have a message that is much bigger than my dreams in pro wrestling. Despite my best efforts, I will not be able to deliver this message while working with WWE. Therefore, I am requesting my release from WWE.” i am requesting my release from wwe pic.twitter.com/Q1QP8SA5zV — Mustafa Ali / Adeel Alam (@AliWWE) January 16, 2022 Ali has had a career of ups and downs in WWE. He has been with the company since 2016, beginning on 205 Live, eventually making his way to the main roster in 2018 as a member of Smackdown. He would eventually become the leader of the stable Retribution in 2020, before feuding with Mansoor in the later part of 2021. We will continue to monitor this story and provide updates as they become available to us. Editor’s Opinion: I honestly don’t blame Mustafa Ali for want..
I mean, it’s kind of hard not to notice. If you watched last night’s Hell In A Cell event, you might have noticed something different about the Cell itself. In addition to being one of the most intimidating sights in the wrestling world just due to being huge and scary in general, it is now fully painted red. That’s a big enough change that there almost has to be a reason behind it, and now we might know what it is. Notice anything different? [This post contains video, click to play] According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, the idea might be as simple as Vince McMahon not realizing that the Cell itself was twenty years old and deciding that it needed a face lift. The Cell debuted on October 5, 1997 at Badd Blood when Undertaker faced Shawn Michaels. The original structure was sixteen feet high and the newer version, which debuted at Unforgiven 2006, is twenty feet high. Asked about the Red Cell… source said “honestly, w/ all this 20 yr talk about Taker & Foley, I think Vince..
Ever since James Ellsworth made his return to WWE, he has done his job of ensuring that Carmella has hung on to the Smackdown Live Women’s Championship belt. But how long will he be around? According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Ellsworth is not under contract and is just being used on a per-date basis. In addition, since Since this comeback, he has only been working TV dates, but no house shows. This latest run has helped his independent bookings, as he is one of the few guys featured on WWE television that indie promoters can use. However, this might also mean they have no long-term plans for his role, because if they did, he would be signed to a deal. [This post contains video, click to play] Editor’s Opinion: Honestly, this news doesn’t surprise me. He will never be featured as a main performer, as his role is simply to be a comedy act. However, he is incredibly entertaining, and as long as Carmella is the champion, Ellsworth will be around, d..
It’s a new member….maybe it is? There aren’t many trios as successful in WWE history as the New Day. They came into WWE back in 2014 and four years (on Saturday at least) later, the team is still around and succeeding. The three man team works both in the ring and on the microphone, but what would happen if the lineup was changed? It turns out that might have been the case, at least in the earlier days. In a new interview with the State Journal Register (Springfield, Illinois), Big E. discussed a few topics, including the possibility of adding new members to the New Day. Big E. talked about how some people might have been added to the team, which was originally considered to be a faction instead of a trio. While the team never expanded, there was a serious consideration of adding more members. Here are his comments: The thing is when we first decided to do this (New Day) thing, we honestly saw ourselves as a faction. We had ideas of adding people along of way. But honestly I’m very g..
NXT announcer Mauro Ranallo recently spoke with Sports Illustrated’s Extra Mustard section to talk about his hectic schedule, working SmackDown, NXT and his relationship with WWE. Ranallo first explained how his hectic schedule has affected him. He speaks about his time on SmackDown Live before moving to NXT: “With WWE, the biggest issue was the weekly travel for SmackDown. I also had a job with Showtime Championship Boxing, and now Bellator MMA, so I was busy almost every weekend and the fact that I had to be on the road with SmackDown Live, which was a dream job in live TV on the USA Network, was going to kill me. Literally. My close friends saw how it was affecting me, and it just came to a head. There were other issues, and they’ve been dealt with, and honestly, I’ve never had a better relationship with WWE, especially Paul [Triple H] Levesque and Michael Cole, two people who are instrumental in me being the voice of NXT. The amount of support I’ve received from everyone, and I mea..
SmackDown Live Superstar Daniel Bryan was recently interviewed by SPORTbible in the U.K. where he revealed who he believes the best wrestler in the world is right now. Bryan first confirmed whether he felt any ring rust getting back in the squared circle: “I honestly didn’t feel any ring rust. It was strange because the day I was cleared, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens attacked me and I did the running dropkicks – just dropkick, dropkick, dropkick. You have to understand, I wasn’t prepared for this to happen. I’m wearing the shoes which I’m wearing now – which are from a thrift store and they’re a half size too big! I was wearing a sportscoat and I haven’t done the dropkick in the corner for three years – it’s a very exhausting thing to do because you’re sprinting, running, jumping and then kick. “I was a little bit concerned but that night I didn’t feel tired or anything, I was excited, it was fun. Same thing at Wrestlemania, I felt like nothing felt weird or awkward – everything felt lik..
Before working for NXT as a commentator, Mauro Ranallo was the voice of SmackDown Live. According to Ringside News, there may be a different reason to what other websites have claimed. Ranallo left the company after working with SmackDown Live. Many outlets, including ourselves at one point, suggested based off what we had heard that Ranallo had possibly left due to JBL. Ranallo was on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani to promote the Showtime documentary he was the focus of, where he opened up about what truly happened. Check out what he had to say: “I was on the road every week. You add MMA and boxing and kickboxing to it. The road travel destroyed me. So, rumors and all this other stuff, what happened, honestly — and Ariel, you know how honest I’ve been in this thing — I had a breakdown in the Chicago O’Hare airport on my way to Pittsburgh to do SmackDown Live. And again, Frank Shamrock — God bless him — Bas Rutten, man. Guys who fought each other are my biggest supporters. But, I ha..
Daniel Bryan recently spoke with the Sport Bible, where he discussed a number of topics. Among them were if he had any ‘ring rust’ upon being cleared to return to in-ring competition, making adjustments to his wrestling style, future opponents and more. Below are some highlights from the interview: On having any ‘ring rust’: “I honestly didn’t feel any ring rust. It was strange because the day I was cleared, Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens attacked me and I did the running dropkicks – just dropkick, dropkick, dropkick. “You have to understand, I wasn’t prepared for this to happen. I’m wearing the shoes which I’m wearing now – which are from a thrift store and they’re a half size too big! Ricochet has new goals after coming to NXT. At NXT Takeover: New Orleans, Ricochet competed in a ladder match for the NXT North American Championship. It was one of his first matches in NXT ever and he talked to WWE.com about his time in the independents trying to get into WWE or NXT. He said he has been wrestling for nearly half of his life. "I had been a fan since I can remember. I started training when I was 14, and my debut match was actually on my birthday, Oct. 11, 2003. So, as of this year, I will have wrestled for half my life. That’s pretty wild when I think about it," said Ricochet. After spending fourteen years trying to make it in professional wrestling, Ricochet finds himself looking for new motivations after finally making it into WWE developmental. "Honestly, when I first started, I never thought I’d make it to the WWE. So now that I am here, my only goal is to become the best performer I can be and try to be an inspiration for my son and anyone, really, who does..
Baron Corbin was recently interviewed by Sky Sports, where he discussed his time in WWE and how he thought the transition to the company would be. He recently competed on “Smackdown Live” against Tye Dillinger, and you can see a clip of that match below: [This post contains video, click to play] Below are some highlights from the interview: On joining NXT and WWE: “Honestly, I was a little bit arrogant because I came in and thought it was going to be easy and that I’d be on television in a year, no problem. “Then you realise how many different things it takes to become a successful superstar, and it really is a rude awakening. I thought it would take a year, but it was three and a half years later that I got called up (to the main roster). It is not easy. “I didn’t realise how much detail went into it all and it was a rude awakening for me and it was humbling.” On if professional wrestling gets the respect it deserves: “I definitely don’t think it does. I would challenge anyon..
It had been previously reported that Ronda Rousey would be appearing on every episode of “Raw” leading up to WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans. However, she was not present for this past week’s show, creating much speculation amongst the WWE Universe. In her absence, the company added a video which shows her road to WrestleMania. You can see that video below: [This post contains video, click to play] However, according to a new report from Pro Wrestling Sheet, Ronda Rousey has been added back to every “Raw” leading up to the “grandest stage of them all.” However, there is a possibility that she will only be appearing in a dark segment on certain weeks. Many people have been wondering why Rousey was absent from this past week’s “Raw.” The report states that she was scheduled for medical testing in Pittsburgh that day, which is why she couldn’t be in Detroit for the show. Editor’s Opinion: This isn’t a big deal. Honestly, regardless of whether she is available, Rousey doesn’t need to ..

There are different types of cash-ins when it comes to the Money in the Bank briefcase. Some people do it like Edge and pick up the pieces after a grueling match. There’s also the RVD method, where you announce when and where you will be cashing in. If you’re truly a mad lad, you can do what Seth Rollins did and insert yourself into a match that’s already happening. There’s a decent amount of variety.

Each contestant in the match is different. They have different agendas, different ways of doing their thing. Not everyone will do it the same way. I hope to show the potentially best way for each man to cash in their contract.

6. Dolph Ziggler

I have a higher chance of meeting pretty much anyone on the WWE roster than Dolph Ziggler does of winning Money in the Bank again. Bear in mind, I live on a completely different side of the globe from pretty much everyone in the WWE. What I’m trying to say is this: Dolph Ziggler is not winning.

However, for the purpose of this article, let’s assume he does. It would be hard to top his original cash-in in 2013. If you haven’t seen it yet, you should. For the newer fans who wonder why so many people still love him, check out when he won the World Heavyweight Championship.

Right now, Dolph is lacking in the heat department. Lots of people simply don’t care. So if he should win (he won’t, though), he needs to cash in on a beloved babyface. Cashing in on a wounded AJ Styles or Sami Zayn could be the spark to rejuvenate Ziggler’s heel turn.

5. AJ Styles

Honestly, AJ Styles doesn’t need Money in the Bank. He’s done so much for Smackdown that he could just say “Hey Shane, could I have a title match?” and we’d all buy it. We’d eat it up. So in my honest opinion, I do not want AJ Styles to win. And I say this as a fan of the guy.

If Styles does win, I wouldn’t be mad. Not at all. However with Styles now acting as a face, that does limit his options somewhat. However, he is still an arrogant guy, so it makes total sense for him to announce when and where he is going to cash in his Money in the Bank contract.

There are so many great opponents for Styles, because he’s had great matches with almost everyone. Styles v. Orton would be must-see. So would Styles v. Zayn. Hell, imagine the anticipation for Styles v. Nakamura. Even something a bit more out-there like Styles v. Rusev or Styles v. Corbin would be a treat to watch.

If Styles wins, expect him to announce when he’ll have his match, and expect a lot of hype and anticipation.

4. Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens is one of the most fleshed-out characters on the roster today. He’s a heartless psychopath who only wants to do what is best for his family. He will destroy anyone and everyone who gets in the way of that. There are a lot of ways that his cash-in could go down, but there’s one idea in particular that I really love, and I found it on Reddit.

Imagine this. Kevin Owens wins Money in the Bank. A few months later, Sami Zayn becomes the number one contender. Come the pay-per-view, Zayn has the champion pinned. 1, 2, 3! Before Sami Zayn’s music can play, Kevin Owens’ music hits, and he strolls to the ring, laughing like a maniac because he once again gets to dick Sami Zayn over.

Of course, this idea isn’t perfect, as it would require Owens to drop the title back to Zayn in a few months, or Zayn losing to Owens again. Still, the heat from that would be like a thousand suns. It’s such an evil thing to do, which is why Kevin Owens would do it.

While speaking to Josh Barnett of USA Today, Becky Lynch was asked about the rumors of her possibly joining the cast of WWE Total Divas now that there has a spot open on the cast.

When asked about the rumors, Lynch responded, “Honestly, you’re the first person that’s said that to me. I haven’t heard anything about that. … I think there’s a certain – not a whole lot – but a certain amount of mystery of me that I don’t really envision that as the best option for me to take part in. It’s a tremendous opportunity for those that do it, I just don’t know that it’s my thing. When I envisioned my life as a little girl, that was never in my horizons. I’m going to stay with what I want in the future. I don’t see that being reality TV.”

As previously reported, Eva Marie is done appearing on the show and Paige’s status on the show is in question. Charlotte has been rumored as one of the replacements on the show.
