REVIEW: NXT TakeOver: R-Evolution: The Future Is Then

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net, starting today. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? NXT Takeover: R-Evolution Date: December 11, 2014 Location: Full Sail University, Winter Park, Florida Attendance: 400 Commentators: Rich Brennan, Alex Riley, Corey Graves This should be a big one as we have a huge showdown in the main event for the NXT Title with Sami Zayn getting his rematch against champion Adrian Neville after a screwy finish to their last match. Other than that we have the long awaited debut of Kevin Owens and Hideo Itami teaming with Finn Balor to face the Ascension. Let’s get t..

Jim Ross Trashes Current WWE Title, Calls It “Hideous”

Is he that wrong? There are a lot of titles in the wrestling world and some of them are rather unique. While there are the standards, such as the World Title, Tag Team Titles and Women’s Titles, some championships are much more specific and might not be the most serious. WWE certainly has one and a former long time employee does not seem to think much of it. During a recent edition of his Grilling JR podcast, WWE legend and current AEW broadcaster Jim Ross talked about the 24/7 Title. Ross compared the title to the Hardcore Title, which he described as “another watered-down championship”. He also said that the 24/7 Title was “hideous” and that you cannot name all of the champions in its history. The 24/7 Title was introduced on May 20, 2019 and has had over one hundred and fifty reigns over fifty plus wrestlers. The title has seen some shenanigans. Check out some of its history: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contai..

That doesn’t mean we don’t have anything big planned for tonight though, with a street fight between Akira Tozawa/Brian Kendrick vs. Jack Gallagher/Drew Gulak. Tozawa and Kendrick had a great street fight last year and this has the potential to be incredible as well. Let’s get to it. We open with a recap of Buddy Murphy retaining the Cruiserweight Title over Cedric Alexander at TLC. This leads into the regular preview of tonight’s show. Opening sequence. Here are Hideo Itami and Ariya Daivari for a chat. Daivari is extra serious tonight as he tells everyone to SHUT THEIR MOUTHS and show Hideo respect. He can’t sit idly by while a legend like Itami is ignored around here. Itami hasn’t had any real competition for two months so until that i..

An Injured Superstar Returned To Action Before Raw Last Night

Before Raw last night in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, a former WWE Cruiserweight Champion returned to action, partaking in a tag team match. The Brian Kendrick has been out of action for the past few months since receiving an injury from Hideo Itami via a botched GTS. This led to Jack Gallager being forced to go it alone. Gallagher would obviously go on to be part of the Cruiserweight Championship tournament and have mild success before being eliminated. Kendrick has appeared on 205 Live in recent weeks backstage but did not come out to compete. This changed on Raw. He predictably teamed with Gallager in a losing effort against Lince Dorado and Gran Metalik. Hideo Itami Say He’s Not Going Back to Japan

<p>We reported yesterday that there was rumors that <a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/2017/06/06/hideo-itami-leaving-wwe-year/" target="_blank">Hideo Itami could be heading back to Japan</a> when his contract with WWE expires this year. Itami denied those rumors in a <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/short/" title="short">short</a></strong> clip that WWE published on social <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/media/" title="media">media</a></strong>.</p><p><em>“No, I worked hard to get here,”</em> said Itami. <em>“One loss doesn’t mean <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/going/" title="going">going</a></strong> back to Japan. Hideo Itami Leaving WWE This Year?

<p>During the mailbag segment on today’s installment of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer was asked about the rumors of <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/hideo-itami" title="Hideo Itami">Hideo Itami</a></strong> leaving WWE once his contract is up this year. Meltzer mentioned that he didn’t know for sure if Itami would <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/leave/" title="leave">leave</a></strong>, but he could see it happening. Meltzer explained that Itami has a lot of family in Japan and he could see him leaving WWE to head to New Japan.</p><p>As many of you are aware, Itami has had several injuries since coming to WWE several years ago. He seems to get hurt every time he builds any momentum on the NXT brand and it sets him back. Several of his peers that joined NXT around the time he did are already on the main roster <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/doing/" title="doing">doing</a></strong> big things while he is still trying to overcome the developmental system. It should be interesting to see how his career plays out in WWE with his contract nearing expiration this year.</p>
