In professional wrestling, drama isn’t confined to the ring. The world of WWE thrives on conflict, betrayal, and shock value—but sometimes, that chaos spills in...
Monday Night Raw Date: February 13, 2023 Location: Barclays Center, New York City, New York Commentators: Corey Graves, Kevin Patrick It is the go home show for the Elimination Chamber and that means we need to finalize everything for the red half of the event. We should be in for some hard pushes, including the contract signing between Bobby Lashley and Brock Lesnar. There is also the Lita return last week to deal with so let’s get to it. Here is Becky Lynch, with Adam Pearce, for a chat. Becky is happy to be here and says she even dressed spiffy for us. She thanks Lita for her help last week but realizes that she needs a path to Wrestlemania. That sounds like something to do with a title to her, so she wants in the Elimination Chamber. Cue Bayley, who says she should be in the Chamber, because Lita CHEATED last week. That match should be stricken from the record book, which sends Bayley and Becky into an argument over Wrestlemania credentials. Bayley says Becky lost in her Wrestle..
NXT Date: February 7, 2023 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Vic Joseph, Booker T. We’re done with Vengeance Day and just shy of two months away from Stand & Deliver. It looks like we have a title match set up, as Carmelo Hayes stared down Bron Breakker, who retained the NXT Title in the main event. That should give us a clear path to Los Angeles so let’s get to it. We open with the recap of Vengeance Day. Here are Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes to open things up. Williams talks about how Hayes turned seer Apollo Crews into Stevie Wonder before Hayes brags about his win too. Hayes knows his destiny and there is one man waiting for him. Cue JD McDonagh to cut him off and say Hayes is entitled. While Hayes wants a private room at the club, McDonagh sends people to the emergency room. The match is made for later. Fallon Henley isn’t happy that Kiana James cheated to tin the titles and insists on a rematch. James isn’t sure, so Henley says they’ll tal..
He was requested. There are all kinds of people who come together to make a wrestling show work and some of them do not get the attention they deserve. While the people in front of the cameras are the ones who matter the most, there are also people who are going to help put everything together behind the scenes. Now one of the more controversial ones has a bit better of an explanation. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Angry Chief: Roman Reigns Reportedly “Very Heated” Over Unplanned WarGames Spot Over the weekend, WWE presented Survivor Series, which included a SmackDown Women’s Title match that saw Ronda Rousey successfully defending against Shotzi. The match was co-produced by Jason Jordan and the returning Brian Kendrick, the latter of whom is not a full time WWE producer. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Rousey requested that Kendrick, one of her original trainers, be brought in for the show. While this was considered a tryout, it was more catering to Rousey’s request. The tryout wa..
Spoils of war? Over the weekend, WWE presented its annual Survivor Series event, which featured the main roster debut of WarGames. There was both a men’s and women’s match on the show, with the Bloodline coming out on top in the show’s main event. Roman Reigns dominated parts of the match, but there was one part that did not go so well for him, which could have been much worse. According to Fightful Select, Reigns was “very heated” over an unplanned spot between himself and Kevin Owens during the match. Reigns was also described as “visibly upset” after the match was over and reportedly went on an expletive filled rant once backstage. He also believed he might have a ruptured eardrum due to the incident. However, there is nothing to indicate that there will be any lingering issues and there was no physical altercation backstage. The belief is that if there are issues, the two will talk them out. It was a busy night. Check out some of the WarGames match: [This post contains video, cl..
It isn’t going well. The rise of technology has changed the way the wrestling world works in a very good way. Fans are now able to see more content than they have ever been able to see before from the comfort of their own home. However, there are also downsides to this technology and that was on display this week as some stars got into an argument in a rather public setting. AEW’s Sammy Guevara and Andrade El Idolo have gotten in a Twitter argument. The issues began with an interview that El Idolo gave (in Spanish) saying that Guevara complained about El Idolo hitting too hard in the ring. El Idolo said Guevara was the only one who ever complained, as the solution was to hit back harder. Guevara sent out a tweet of his own, albeit without referencing El Idolo, saying “You are a jobber. A favor hire. Be grateful b****.” El Idolo responded, with Guevara’s name, saying that if he has a problem with someone, he says it to their face. The two have continued to go back and forth throughout..
The champ may be out. According to a report from Fightful Select, former ROH Heavyweight Champion Jonathan Gresham has requested his release from ROH & AEW. The report states that Gresham asked for his release Saturday ahead of the Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view. He defended the ROH World Heavyweight Championship against Claudio Castagnoli and dropped the title to him in the opening match fo the show. “A lack of communication between the company and Gresham leading up to the weekend” led him to feel “disrespected.” The lack of time given to the World Title match during last night’s show was also a noted “tipping point.” Gresham reportedly met with Tony Khan before the show began and got heated enough to the point that he was “cussing out” the boss. The former champion has since responded to inquiries about the ordeal and is said to be “done with wrestling for the foreseeable future after this month.” We will continue to monitor this story and provide updates as they become avai..
For the first time. Title changes can make a huge difference in a wrestler’s career as you can see them moving up the ladder right in front of your eyes. It can be the kind of thing that reallys tarts a career in a huge way. That might have been the case again this week, as a young and upcoming star finally got his hands on some gold in some pretty impressive fashion. This week’s AEW Dynamite featured Wardlow defeating Scorpio Sky in a street fight to become the new TNT Champion. The win markes Wardlow’s first title of any kind in AEW. The match came about after Sky cheated to retain the title over Wardlow in their previous match. Sky’s loss ends his second title at seventy days, having won the title on the April 27 edition of Dynamite. Opinion: Wardlow had to win something and this is as good of an idea as they had for him at the moment. He gets a championship and has officially accomplished something in AEW. I’m not sure where he goes next, but lining up one villain in a row to com..
That would do it. Like him or not, there is no one in the wrestling world as powerful as Vince McMahon. The right or wrong take from McMahon can determine where a wrestler’s career goes and there is little that can be done to chance that. These issues are often for the worse and unfortunately that seems to be the case again with one of the more underused WWE stars. Earlier today, WWE star Mustafa Ali announced that he was requesting his release from the company, saying that he is unable to deliver the message that he wants to deliver while working for the company. According to Fightful Select, Ali has been ready to return to WWE television since the beginning of December, following one week off for the birth of his third child. Ali had been expected to return with his New America gimmick, which never made air, though Ali did release an unaired promo on Twitter. Instead, McMahon changed his mind and pitched something Ali never would have done, leading to a “heated argument” between th..
That could slow her down. Every now and then you see a star catch fire and turn into one of the bigger stories on any given show. It works very well if a wrestler can capture the audience’s attention and see how far things can go. That is the case on Monday Night Raw, but now things might be slowed down a little bit due to a pretty badly timed injury to a rising star. This week’s Monday Night Raw featured a showdown between Liv Morgan and Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch. Morgan had been cheated out of her title shot the previous week and wanted a rematch. Before accepting, Lynch attacked Morgan, including crushing her arm against the ring steps. During Raw Talk, Morgan was announced as having suffered a deep bone bruise and a strained radial collateral ligament in her left arm. She is still expected to challenge Lynch at Day One on January 1. As revealed on #RAWTalk, @YaOnlyLivvOnce has a deep bone bruise and a strained radial collateral ligament in her left arm.#WWERaw pic.twitter...
Take two. We are less than three weeks away from WWE Day One and the card is starting to come together. With so little time left before the show, it is time to start hammering down all of the details, including adding some of the title matches. That was the case this week, as a pretty big rematch was officially set for the card, albeit only after the challenger got taken out. Last week on Monday Night Raw, Becky Lynch cheated to retain the Raw Women’s Title over Liv Morgan. This week, Morgan challenged Lynch to a rematch at Day One, knowing that Lynch needed to cheat to beat her. Lynch did not immediately accept the challenge, instead getting in a brawl with Morgan first. The fight would head outside, where Morgan’s arm was stomped against the steps several times. Lynch would then accept the match. It was a busy night. There’s the line of thinking. Every now and then, you see something in wrestling that does not make a ton of sense. It can leave wrestling fans sitting around wondering what is going on and what the company is thinking. That was the case earlier this summer with one of the highest profile moments in a long time, and now we know more about how the thinking went. Back at Summerslam, Becky Lynch made her return after a sixteen month absence and defeated Bianca Belair in 26 seconds to win the SmackDown Women’s Title. Lynch appeared on the Out Of Character podcast and discussed the match, including why it was a short squash. Lynch explained that WWE did not want to damage Belair, which would have been the case had they had a long match where Belair just lost. Instead, the idea was to have Belair lose so fast, leaving fans to think that Belair was cheated and want to see her get her revenge. Belair will face Lynch and Sasha Banks for the title at Crown Jewel next week. These two do have qu..
I don’t see this going well. WWE is a big company and has more resources than they know what to do with most of the time. The good thing is that they are able to use some of those resources in good ways at the right time. That is something they were trying to do this week, but it seems that one of the company’s former employees is not exactly seeing things the WWE way. Earlier this week, Daffney Unger passed away, sending a bit of a shock throughout the wrestling world. According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, WWE sent out a mass text to its roster, reminding them that they have mental counseling available should their wrestlers need it. Impact Wrestling’s Karl Anderson responded to Ross’ tweet, saying “they suck bro” referring to WWE. This led to several fans responding to Anderson, including bringing up Anderson being accused of cheating on his wife. Anderson insulted several of the fans by calling them marks and telling them to say these things to him in person. Anderson did pin a..
Even The Man isn’t exempt from the rules. Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch engaged in a battle for the Raw Women’s Championship at Clash of Champions 2019 and the two heated rivals ended up taking the fight all throughout the arena. However, this was after an incident inside the ring cost The Man some money, according to WWE.com: Becky Lynch has been fined $10,000 for inadvertently striking a referee during her Raw Women’s Championship Match against Sasha Banks. The Man had intended to deliver the chair strike to The Boss but ended up hitting the referee instead. After the referee went down, the title match descended into chaos, as the two rivals took their brawl to the concourse. Lynch did not seem pleased with the outcome of her match: [This post contains video, click to play] Banks brought the chair into the ring to use on Lynch, but the referee took it out of her hands and threw it to the ground. This gave The Man the idea to use it on The Boss; however, she moved out of the way ..
Some people have a drive that just won’t quit. According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Jerry “The King” Lawler is in need of double knee replacement surgery, but will not be undergoing the procedure. He, in fact, will continue to compete in the ring. Here’s a clip of him in a heated rivalry with Michael Cole from 2013: [This post contains video, click to play] The King has made sporadic appearances with WWE, mostly as a member of various kick-off panels prior to pay-per-view events. However, has not competed in a match with them in quite some time. Lawler was most recently in the news when it was reported that his son, Brian, took his own life while being in person for a Disorderly Conduct charge. Editor’s Opinion: No matter where he goes, he will always be a draw and people will always look forward to seeing him. The King is one of the most legendary figures in the history of professional wrestling, both on the mic and in the ring, and is always e..
Why yes, he does still have a lot to say. Earlier this year, Big Cass was released from WWE in what was probably a bit of a surprise. He had only been been back on the active roster for a few weeks after returning from his torn ACL and just like that he was gone. Even though he’s out of the company, he’s not away from wrestling entirely and that means he has some thoughts on the business. Cass recently appeared on Booker T.’s Heated Conversations podcast and talked about his time away from the WWE. When asked about how much he still follows WWE since his released on June 19, he said that he hasn’t watched WWE whatsoever, to the point where he doesn’t even know who the current champions are. He also mentioned that he still keeps in touch with some of the company’s current stars, who have given him some advice. Here are some highlights, with transcription courtesy of Wrestlinginc.com: On How Far He Is Removed From WWE “One-hundred percent. I haven’t watched SmackDown, Raw, PPV, I haven..
Vinc Pichel is back in action and in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night Utica, where he faces Gregor Gillespie. Not only does Pichel plan on making a bigger name for himself with the big co-main event opportunity on June 1, but the fighter plans on doing so in spectacular fashion. “I’m gonna knock the son of a bitch out, I’m looking for a big KO man. I’m looking for a big bonus, I got cheated out of my bonus in New Zealand from Dan Hooker…that son of a bitch. I’m looking for a knockout bonus, I’m getting a lot of slack from this guy. People telling me ‘what are you gonna do? He’s a wrestler and he’s done this and he’s done that.’ I’m like who gives a f*ck what he’s done, he’s an NCAA champion, I don’t know how many times, but I’m like ‘this is an MMA fight man.’ A lot of people are doubting me in this fight and I cannot wait to make them eat their words, I’ve had friends tell me to pull out of this fight and I shouldn’t have taken this fight. I’m like ‘what the f*ck man and thanks ..
