WATCH: Bray Wyatt Explains How The Fiend “Died”

So he’s gone? Gimmicks and characters are difficult things to figure out in wrestling as wrestlers have to find the right one for them. There are all kinds of different ways to present a star and balancing things out is quite the task. Sometimes a wrestler is able to put together something completely unique but now, one of those characters seems to be done completely. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: He’s There: John Cena Reportedly Set For Something At WWE Royal Rumble Bray Wyatt was interviewed by Ryan Satin for the Royal Rumble, with the full interview being released on Saturday, January 28. WWE has released a clip of Wyatt talking about the Fiend, with Wyatt saying that “The Fiend died that day in Tampa, Florida, at WrestleMania, to me.” Wyatt went on to say that the Fiend was part of what made him a human being, but now it “can’t never be again”. The Fiend has not appeared since Wyatt returned to WWE last year. The Fiend was a force. Check out the clip, plus the Fiend in action: [This p..

AEW TNT Champion Wardlow: “I Have Girls Chained Up In My Bedroom”

Well that’s….unique. Wrestlers are best known for what they do in the ring but there is a completely different side to what they do. While the in-ring work is important, the ability to talk people into watching the show might be the most important thing of all. As a result, wrestlers are going to do a lot of talking a lot of the time and now a prominent star said something rather eye catching. AEW TNT Champion Wardlow appeared on Busted Open Radio this week and discussed how wrestlers are similar to horror movie and television series characters, in that they have characters, gimmicks and a theme song. In particular, Wardlow spoke about the Joe Goldberg character from the “You” TV series, saying he did not know why you would chain people up in your basement. Wardlow then said “I have girls chained up in my bedroom, but no one in my basement”. Wardlow successfully defended the TNT Title against Matt Taven this week on AEW Rampage. Opinion: Well that’s certainly a statement that is goin..

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Star Possibly Reverting To Previous Character

Welcome back? There have been a lot of changes in WWE over the last few months, including several wrestlers changing gimmicks or characters. Some of them have become new versions while others have reverted more towards what they have done in the past. That might be the case with another star and it is something that fans have been wanting for a long time now. This weekend at NXT Halloween Havoc, a vignette aired showing a mask burning. The mask appeared similar to the one work by T-Bar, suggesting that he might be returning to NXT under his previous persona of Dominik Dijakovic, though this has not been confirmed. Dijakovic came up to NXT as part of the Retribution stable and kept his new name after everyone else had moved on. Dijakovic is coming back!! LFG!!!#HalloweenHavoc #WWENXT pic.twitter.com/YbkBfjvXEr — ?????? (@WrestlingCovers) October 23, 2022 Opinion: The first thing I’m wondering about this is what took so long. T-Bar never amounted to much on the main roster but Dijako..

WATCH: Shotzi, Scarlett Bordeaux And Harley Cameron Release New Music Video

That might draw some attention. Wrestlers are a lot of things, including athletes and storytellers, but ultimately they are entertainers in one form or another. This can take a variety of forms, with wrestlers often trying out different gimmicks to see what they can make work. Sometimes their talents spill over outside of the ring and that is what some WWE stars have done again. WWE has released a music video of Shotzi, Scarlett Bordeaux and Harley Cameron singing I Put A Spell On You from the movie Hocus Pocus. The three have released music before, with Cameron as the featured star and Shotzi and Bordeaux as featured performers. The song has not been acknowledged on WWE TV and Shotzi and Bordeaux have never appeared together in any way. This is pretty awesome. Check out the song plus another video from the trio: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is one of those things that you do not expect to see but it turned out..

WATCH: Former Champion Makes Surprise Return With Previous Gimmick

Welcome back? Wrestling is interesting in a lot of ways, as you will see a wrestler appear in different characters and gimmicks over the years. Every now and then you will see them revert to some of their own characters, which can make for more than a few interesting options. It can be interesting to see how the wrestler goes when things change and now that might be the case again. Over the weekend, Robert Roode returned to the ring for his first match in two months. Roode wrestled as a singles star with no mention or reference of his regular tag team partner Dolph Ziggler. In addition, Roode came to the ring to his Glorious theme song, which he has not been using during his appearances. There is no word on if this will be used on television going forward. This is quite nice to hear again. Check out Roode’s entrance over the weekend: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: Roode’s theme song is one of the best things about him and it is great to see him getting to use it..

BREAKING RUMOR: Cody Rhodes Has Signed With WWE

The nightmare returns. According to a report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com, Cody Rhodes has signed a new deal and will be returning to WWE. The report states that Rhodes signed his new contract about 10-14 days ago. The current plan is to have Rhodes debut during Wrestlemania 38 weekend, with the early word among those in the company saying that Rhodes will be on the Raw brand. It has been heavily rumored that The American Nightmare will be facing Seth Rollins at WrestleMania, but nothing is finalized yet. We will continue to monitor this situation and provide any updates as they become available. Editor’s Opinion: If I’m being honest, I’m surprised that this is happening. There has to be something in place where he has a little bit more creative control over his contract, because if they try to have him revert to his old gimmicks, the return may fall flat on its face. That being said, he is one of the most incredible talents globally and will be a fantastic addition to the r..

WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE Changing Monday Night Raw Star’s Character (Again)

It’s in the presentation. There are so many wrestlers in the world today that it can be hard to find a way to make them stand out. Thankfully there are ways around those issues in the form of gimmicks, as a wrestler can play a character of some kind in a way to get some extra attention. That is certainly the case in WWE and now one of its stars may be in for some gimmick adjustments. According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, WWE is adjusting Karrion Kross’ character. The new idea will be to present Kross as a “psycho” who is still “cool and calm”. This will include changing his theme song, but he will continue to wear his helmet and will continue to be without Scarlett. Kross was called up to the main roster earlier this year while still NXT Champion. Source states WWE is shifting Karrion Kross’ character once again. Plan is for him to be more of a “psycho” yet still “calm & cool.” As of now the helmet stays, but for whatever reason, still no Scarlett. Presentation of entrance i..

AEW May Be Planning A Special Gimmick Match

That’s something they could do. There have been gimmicks and stipulations attached to wrestling matches for years and that will continue to be the case for a very long time to come. The idea makes a lot of sense: raise the stakes for a match and let the people involved feel like they are fighting for something personal. We might be on the way to another big one in AEW. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, AEW is moving towards a hair vs. hair match between Matt Hardy and Orange Cassidy. Both have spoken about trying to cut the other’s hair with little success. There is no date on when the match will take place, though either Grand Slam on September 22 or Full Gear on November 13 are possibilities. This would be the first hair vs. hair match in AEW history. The two have met before. KB’s Review: The Most Summerslammiest Summerslam Match

It’s Summerslam week and due to the amount of Coronavirus pandemic messing with everything in the WWE’s world, it very well may be the biggest show of the year. This would not be the first time that Summerslam is (arguably) bigger than WrestleMania, this this time might be a little bit different. Saturday’s Summerslam may be the first time when the show is that big and also follows its own identity. Something I have talked about before (ok probably several times) is the idea that Summerslam is the gimmickless of the major pay per views. The Royal Rumble is all about the Royal Rumble, Survivor Series is all about the elimination and WrestleMania is WrestleMania. That leaves Summerslam with pretty much nothing more than the fact that it is a major show which happens to take place in August. This year’s card has no major gimmicks attached (you have one triple threat match and a match where the villain’s lackeys are barred from ringside, with the rest of the matches being straight single..

VIDEO: WWE Star Completely Changes Character In Interview

That’s certainly new. There have been countless gimmicks and characters in wrestling over the years and some of them do not stand out all that well. Some of them are going to work because of one trait or personality quirk which stands out and that is the case with a current WWE star. Now though, some of the biggest things which set him apart have been dropped in an interesting way. Following this week’s edition of SmackDown, 24/7 Champion Reginald was asked about his background. Reginald responded by saying that he was not really from France, but rather St. Louis, Missouri and that his name was Reggie. He also did not have his accent, saying that he answered an ad to be Carmella’s sommellier and was asked to speak French. Reggie said that he has been a wrestling fan for years and would do anything to get into WWE, hence doing whatever Carmella wanted. Reggie won the 24/7 Title his first in WWE, on the July 19 Monday Night Raw. This was a different one. Check out the interview plus wh..

Opinion: AEW Makes A Complete Mockery Of The Wrestling Industry

Every week, I try. I try really hard to watch AEW and view it as the No. 2 wrestling promotion in the world, giving it a chance. And every week, there are some bright moments, with good matches and characters that have tremendous potential. That makes me very happy. However, for the most part, I am very disappointed and flat-out angry with what I see each week on TNT. Stupid gimmicks, inconsistent storylines, a lack of consistency in the presentation of a television show, and matches whose sole purpose is to maim and mangle your opponent flood my television screen every week. Finally, after watching tonight’s absolute garbage episode of Dynamite and thinking about what I have seen over the past year or so, I finally had a revelation. In my opinion, Tony Khan, and all of the executives of AEW have one objective: to make a complete mockery of the wrestling business and create a parody of the professional wrestling industry. Let’s take tonight’s episode of Dynamite, for example. The sh..

NXT Bringing Back Violent Gimmick Match

You have to make it important. There are certain ways to make a wrestling match feel bigger and the easiest is to attach a gimmick. Just adding a special rule to a match makes things feel a lot bigger and there are several choices available. NXT is trying one of the newer gimmicks that they have to pick from and this time around it could be something special. NXT is in a unique place as it has its own mini arena at the moment, meaning that it can set up all kinds of different things. It also helps that they are away from the main roster, meaning that they do not have all of the same restraints. As a result, one of the NXT wrestlers has a bit of a signature match, and now it is going to be coming back for a special event. During this week’s NXT, Tommaso Ciampa attacked Timothy Thatcher to continue their feud. With Thatcher laid out, Ciampa said that he would see Thatcher in the Fight Pit, a match that Thatcher debuted earlier this year. The match was later made for New Year’s Evil on ..

WATCH: Trailer For New Wrestling Animated Series Takes Shots At WWE

It’s easy to parody. As seriously as some fans take it, wrestling is something that can easily be mocked. It is a bunch of people doing a bunch of completely insane things a lot of the time but when you are inside the wrestling bubble, it works out rather well. However, if you change things up a little bit and take a look from outside the bubble, you can have a lot of laughs. That is what some wrestlers are hoping to do. Back in July, the Good Brothers (Doc Gallows/Karl Anderson) made their Impact Wrestling debuts as a big featured attraction at Slammiversary. The team was one of the biggest prizes after so many wrestlers were released from WWE back in April. As a result, Impact Wrestling suddenly had some big names on their hands with a lot of entertainment potential. Some of that potential will be on display, albeit with nothing taking place in the ring. The Good Brothers, along with Rocky Romero and NZO (formerly Enzo Amore) are working on a new series called The Gimmicks, an anim..

Video: It’s Different. Check Out Bray Wyatt’s Creepy New Character (You Won’t See This Coming).

Wrestling is a weird place. In most versions of entertainment, someone leaving a show or production results in them being replaced by a new actor. That’s not the case in wrestling though, as wrestlers often change gimmicks and are presented as new characters. Some of these aren’t that big of a deal, but other times see them go in a very different direction which jars the fans. That was the case this week. This week on Monday Night Raw, Bray Wyatt made his official return after a six month absence in a drastically different gimmick. Wyatt is now hosting a children’s program called Firefly Fun House, which appears similar to Pee Wee’s Playhouse. Wyatt mentioned his previous persona and cut up a cardboard cutout of himself with a saw. It was also confirmed that the puppet and doll from recent weeks were his friends. You need to see this one for yourself. Check out Wyatt’s new world: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is one of those things where I have no idea wh..

Here’s How Vince McMahon Wants to Use The Velveteen Dream at the Main Roster

The Velveteen Dream is one of the most interesting gimmicks on all of WWE television because almost no one thought it would work in the beginning. The NXT Universe has embraced the gimmick. “The Dream” put on a great performance and almost captured the NXT Championship from Tommaso Ciampa during NXT Takeover: War Games II. At 23 years old, the sky is the limit for the young performer that most people are calling a “prodigy.” However, there’s a lot of concern regarding how The Velveteen Dream will be used on the main roster eventually. In particular, some people are very concerned if Vince McMahon will provide him the opportunity to connect with the WWE Universe. Related: Velveteen Dream “Too Small” to Be A Top Guy in WWE According to a new report from DirtySheets, Vince McMahon is actually a big fan of The Velveteen Dream. Tyler Breeze Reveals How He Was Almost Fired Several Times In His Career

Tyler Breeze and Fandango were recently interviewed on Edge & Christian’s Podcast of Awesomeness where they discussed how Breeze he was nearly fired on several occasions. Fandango first explained how he and Breeze weren’t complacent and pitched gimmicks to get themselves on TV: “It was just example of, like, before tagging with Breezy, you weren’t really booked on TV, so it’s easy just to sit around every week at TV and being frustrated, but I think we utilized the [WWE].com guys really well, just kind of being proactive. And trying to almost, like, pitch our own little gimmick there and I think it’s just a good example of being proactive and just trying to make something happen. And I talk to Breeze all the time and we’re really proud of what we did because no one really gave that to us. We kind of put in the work for that.” Breeze explains that Vince McMahon didn’t understand The Fashion Files. However, he asked that they keep it going due to the popularity it had on social media: “..

Vince Russo’s The Brand Recap – Charlotte Struggling on Smackdown, Wrestling Needs Gimmicks, Does Enzo Have Heat Backstage? More!

Russo is joined on today’s show by his co-host Jeff Lane, and they will attempt to ‘castrate the marks and their dirt sheets’.

Russo points out that this is all in good fun for him, and he doesn’t hate any of these men. Unfortunately, there seems to be some real hatred on the other side of the fence from guys like Wade Keller, Ryan Satin and Mike Johnson. To show his respect to Dave Meltzer, whose father passed away this week, Russo will not be discussing Meltzer’s comments this week.

The first clip of the day presents Bryan Alvarez ranting about the fact that WWE broke up Enzo and Big Cass. Alvarez says that there’s no wonder WWE’s ratings are declining when they decided to break up one of the more popular acts on their roster due to their constant search for ‘heat’.

Russo says that there’s something political going on in the background. He’s heard rumblings of Amore’s backstage issues stemming back to his time in NXT and that probably carried over to the main roster. Quite frankly, Alvarez is right in this case because Enzo and Cass were over, and the fans loved them. However, Russo’s smart enough to understand that heat draws money, and since Cass turned on Enzo the fans have been chanting Enzo’s name with more passion than ever before.

Conversation with the Big Guy Recap – Ryback’s New Gimmicks, Worst Match of his Career, What Does Ryback Miss About WWE? More!

Ryback is joined on today’s show by his co-host Pat Buck.

Ryback mentions that Buck takes care of all of his bookings for him. He says that when he left WWE, he called Buck the same day and asked him to be his booking agent for a 10% fee of all money earned. He says that he could probably handle all of his bookings himself but it is very time consuming, and he’d rather be putting his time and effort into other things.

Buck informs that it’s not easy to just start making connections and establishing relationships with promoters right out of the blue. He enjoys handling Ryback’s bookings but he admits that it can be frustrating at times. Some promoters are very rude and he takes the brunt of their abuse from time to time. Ryback requires a deposit after confirming a booking before his image and name can be used for promotional purposes, and sometimes that causes issues.

Ryback informs that he has had successful stem cell surgery on his shoulder where his shoulder is now basically repairing itself with the help of the stem cells. His goal is to fix his shoulder once and for all after dealing with these issues for years, and he believes he’s close to accomplishing that. He admits that it’s frustrating not being able to train as hard as he would like, or wrestle as much as he’d like.

The Taz Show Recap – Backlash Analysis, Don’t Hinder Jinder, Difference Between 205Live & UK Wrestlers, More!

Block 1:

Taz opens today’s show speaking about the online fan criticism directed at Jinder Mahal after he captured the WWE Championship at Backlash last night. A lot of fans seem to be angry at Mahal’s meteoric rise to the top of the WWE roster, along with claiming that he must be taking steroids to have a body like he does.

Taz points out that steroids don’t make you a better professional wrestler, and he says PED use means nothing to him in professional sports. He’s not suggesting that people start using PEDs, but he couldn’t care less if people do choose to use them at a professional level.

He says that he doesn’t know Jinder Mahal at all, but he’ll defend any wrestler who has paid his/her dues over the years, and Mahal has certainly done that. After dealing with a plethora of terrible gimmicks and then eventually getting released, Mahal worked his ass off and made it all the way back to the top and he deserves a lot of credit for that.

As far as fans’ criticisms that Mahal came out of nowhere to win this Title, Taz says that’s not the case at all. Mahal has been wrestling for many years, starting in Canada before getting signed by WWE initially many years ago. He was released from WWE in 2014 and worked around the world at indie events before being resigned by WWE. His hard work paid off, and this win certainly didn’t out of nowhere.
