No Chance: Here Is What Vince McMahon Was “Vehemently Against” In WWE Contracts

He wasn’t a fan. This year has seen all kinds of changes throughout WWE but the biggest change of them all has been the retirement of Vince McMahon. After decades of running the company, McMahon announced his retirement back in July, throwing everything out of whack. There have been several changes since McMahon left, and now we know one more thing that seems to have changed as a result of his departure. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: One More Run? 37 Year Old Former WWE Star Likes Idea Of Facing Roman Reigns At WrestleMania According to Fightful Select, McMahon was against the idea of “no cut” clauses in WWE contracts. These clauses, which guaranteed that a wrestler would not be released from their contract early, were something McMahon was “vehemently against”. New co-CEO Nick Khan is said to be open to the idea, though there is no word on if WWE is including them more frequently. It was also said that the lack of clauses did not cost WWE any free agents, but some did inquire about the sit..

Maybe Later? Update On Status Of 41 Year Old WWE Producer After Recent Attack

It was just a one off. There are a lot of different people who have to come together to make a wrestling show work. While the wrestlers themselves get the majority of the attention, there are several other names who help to make the show work. You will regularly see some of these wrestlers in front of the camera, but, in what might be a surprise, you might not be seeing one of them return to the ring. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Another Generation: Son Of Wrestling Legend Officially Begins In-Ring Training This week on Monday Night Raw, Seth Rollins and Bobby Lashley got in a brawl in the ring. Referees and agents were brought in to try and break things up, resulting in Lashley spearing down WWE producer Petey Williams. This has led to speculation that Williams may be returning to the ring, but according to Fightful Select, there are no plans for that to be the case. Williams, 41 years old, who has never wrestled for WWE, last wrestled on October 31, 2021. Williams has done a lot in the ..

WATCH: More On NXT Releases, Star Speaks On Leaving WWE

There’s more to it. There are a lot of wrestlers on the WWE roster and sometimes the company has to let some of them go. Occasionally WWE will release some wrestlers from their contracts and turn them into free agents, which is the kind of thing that can devastate some wrestlers. That was the case again this week, and now we know some more about one of the wrestlers, including from said wrestler himself. WWE released five wrestlers from their NXT contracts this week, including Bodie Hayward. According to Wrestling Observer Live, Hayward was described as “a handful”, though it is not clear that that entails. Hayward was involved in the Chase University story and it was not something as simple as dropping a wrestler in the middle of a storyline. Hayward has also posted a video on his release, saying that he is humiliated but here to stay. Hayward had a lot to say. Check out what he got off his chest: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: I’m not sure what happened with H..

WWE Interested In Former World Champion, Ring Of Honor Stars Backstage (Contains Mild SPOILERS)

They caught some attention. There are a lot of talented wrestling stars in the world today and several of them don’t work for WWE or AEW. A lot of those stars are free agents who can be signed to any company. It can be a game changer to bring them in and that might be what WWE is getting ready to do, as they have interest in at least one freshly free agent star. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE is interested in bringing in former Ring Of Honor World Champion Matt Taven, who has reportedly finished up with Impact Wrestling. In addition, former Impact Wrestling and Ring Of Honor stars Vincent and Dutch were reportedly backstage this week at Monday Night Raw. There is nothing to suggest that WWE has signed any of them or officially offered them a deal. Opinion: That is quite the turn of events and I could go for seeing it happen. Taven is someone who seems to have all of the talent he could hope for and having him in WWE would be great to see. Dutch and Vincent could be great ..

WATCH: Intense Brawl Takes Place After Monday Night Raw

The show isn’t over. There are a lot of different ways to present a wrestling feud and some of them are more effective than others. One of the best ways is to create a personal issue between two people, which is the direction several feuds take. That is the case with one of the more prominent issues WWE is presenting at the moment and that was obvious after Monday Night Raw went off the air. The main event of this week’s Monday Night Raw featured Riddle defeating Damian Priest. WWE has posted a video to Twitter, showing Seth Rollins coming out after the show to brawl with Rollins, with referees and agents separating them. Rollins and Riddle have been feuding for the last few months and are set for a match at Extreme Rules inside the Fight Pit on October 5. It was a violent one. Check out what happened after the show ended: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is the kind of thing that is almost always going to work and it did so again here. Backstage News On Triple H’s Plans For WWE Roster

It’s time to shake things up again, but this time in a very different way. A new report from Fightful Select outlines some of the plans for the WWE roster now that Triple H has taken over for Vince McMahon and is now EVP of Talent Relations. According to the report, Triple H is just getting started, and a “feeling-out process” has taken place regarding talk of reshaping the roster. This includes adding more depth in the form of past WWE talent that has either been released or didn’t re-sign with the company. This concept began to unfold during this week’s WWE programming, as Dakota Kai, Iyo Sky, Karrion Kross and Scarlett all returned to the company. Other names to consider are Bray Wyatt, Johnny Gargano, John Morrison, Tegan Nox, and Tyler Breeze as they are WWE Superstars who are still believed to be free agents. We will continue to monitor this story and provide updates as they are made available to us. [h/t to Bleacher Report for providing content in this article] Editor’s Op..

Hold On: Ring Of Honor Wrestlers’ Contract Statuses Are A Bit Complicated

There isn’t room for everyone. AEW already has more wrestlers than it can handle as they only have so much television time available. At some point, the company has to figure out who can make an appearance here and there. That is harder than it seems, but then Ring Of Honor being added to AEW TV made things even more complicated. Now though, we might have a bit of a reprieve. According to Fightful Select, not everyone who appeared on last weekend’s Death Before Dishonor pay per view is signed to a contract, either long term or on a tiered deal. Several stars who appeared on the show are still free agents. Josh Woods, who appeared at Death Before Dishonor, also appeared on this week’s Dynamite and is signed to AEW on a tiered contract. Opinion: This is one of those things that makes sense, as there are only so many spots available in both AEW and Ring Of Honor. At the end of the day, Ring Of Honor is little more than a bunch of one off events with no television at the moment. Unless t..

Top Free Agent Expected To Make AEW Debut

Their eyes have been caught. Every wrestling promotion has to make changes to keep their roster fresh. This can be done in a variety of ways, but the easiest is to just bring in new wrestlers. These wrestlers might come from anywhere and sometimes they come in bunches. That might be the case again, as AEW has its eyes on one of the biggest free agents in wrestling today. According to Fightful Select, Jonathan Gresham is expected to be signed to either AEW or Ring of Honor, with Gresham working on AEW shows either way. There is no word on when Gresham could be making his AEW debut..Gresham is the reigning Ring of Honor World Champion and will be facing Bandido in a unification match at Supercard of Honor on April 1. AEW President Tony Khan announced his purchase of Ring of Honor earlier this month. Opinion: This doesn’t seem to be the biggest shock as Gresham is one of the top stars not currently signed to a major promotion. Let him go to one of the biggest promotions in the world and..

Yes And Yes: Former WWE Stars Get Married

It’s a special occasion. Wrestlers have a lot to cover on a weekly basis. Between going from town to town and show to show, there is only so much free or leisure time to be had. That can make a variety of things difficult, but sometimes even the busiest wrestlers can find time to do something they want. Such a thing took place this weekend and it was a very important moment. Former WWE wrestlers Keith lee and Mia Yim were married over the weekend. Fellow former WWE star Tegan Nox posted photos online, showing the two both at their wedding and their reception. The two have been engaged since February 11, 2021. Both Lee and Yim were released from their WWE contracts in November 2021. They are both free agents, but neither has wrestled a match since being released from the company. awwww ?? You Might Be Seeing Some Released WWE Names Again Soon

See you soon. Over the last year and a half, WWE has released a ton of wrestlers from the company. That is the kind of change that you do not see happen very often in wrestling and unfortunately it cost a lot of people their jobs. While it certainly changes how WWE works, it also changes how other promotions work as well. Now, some of those promotions are able to pick up more than a few new wrestlers as a result. On November 2, 2021, WWE released several wrestlers from their contracts. These wrestlers were on 90 day no compete clauses, which have now expired as of February 2. Therefore, the following names are now free agents and can sign wherever they like, appearing immediately: Keith Lee Karrion Kross Mia Yim Ember Moon Davey Boy Smith Jr. Oney Lorcan Gran Metalik Lince Dorado Eva Marie Nia Jax There is no word on where these wrestlers will appear. Several NXT wrestlers were released on the same day, but their 30 day no compete clauses expired in December. Opinion: This is the k..

Multiple Injuries Take Place During This Week’s NXT

Those are some nasty situations. There are a lot of ways to write someone out of action on a wrestling show and some of them are more effective than others. Perhaps the most effective is to have someone get injured, as not only does it get someone off of television, but it also puts heat on the person who did it. This week, that was the case in two different situations. There were two wrestlers written off of NXT television this week due to injuries. First up, Cora Jade was attacked by Mandy Rose following Jade’s win over Dakota Kai. Rose re-injured Jade’s arm, resulting in undisclosed injuries. Also during the show, Harland made his in-ring debut and after the match, attacked various agents and referees. This included agent Brian Kendrick, who suffered a possible cervical fracture. There is no word on when either will return. It was a brutal night. Two Soon To Be Free Agents Backstage At AEW Dynamite

Maybe they’re next? The wrestling world really has changed in the last few years and those changes continued this year with what seems to be the demise of at least the current version of Ring of Honor. You don’t see that kind of change very often in wrestling, and in this case it opened up the question of what would happen to the Ring of Honor roster. Now we might have a better idea. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Ring of Honor’s Matt Taven and Jonathan Gresham were both backstage at this week’s AEW Dynamite taping. Taven and Gresham’s Ring of Honor contracts both expire later this year, with their last appearances scheduled for Final Battle on December 11. There is no word on if either or both have come to any agreement with AEW. You might need to get to know them. Now On The Team: AEW Officially Signs Another Former WWE Star

Welcome to the team! There are a lot of wrestlers on the AEW roster, as the company has put together a heck of a lineup. They have a great mixture of young, up and coming wrestlers, veterans and legends. Several of them have come from other promotions, many of which have had quite the exposure. That was the case again this week, as AEW has announced the signing of a former WWE star. AEW President Tony Khan has sent out a tweet promoting the TNT Title match between champion Sammy Guevara and Tony Nese for this week’s edition of Rampage. In the same tweet, Khan announced that Nese has officially signed a contract with the company, making him a member of the roster. Nese is a former WWE Cruiserweight Champion and was released from the company earlier this year: The TNT Title is at stake in a huge match TONIGHT on #AEWRampage! We have a great Champion @sammyguevara & I’m so impressed by the challenger, he’s been one of the hottest free agents in the business; ahead of this HUGE match ton..

WWE Might Not Be Interested In Signing MJF

Not so fast? The rise of AEW has changed the way the wrestling world works and several of the changes have been very positive. One of the most important things has been the fact that wrestlers now have another place to go. It means that wrestlers have been able to go somewhere else rather than just WWE. One day some of those AEW wrestlers are going to be free agents, but WWE might not be interested in one of their top stars. Earlier this month, AEW’s Maxwell Jacob Friedman mentioned that he will be a free agent in 2024 and promised to start a bidding war. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, there might not be a strong interest in Friedman from WWE, who have not seen him as a big deal. There is always a chance that WWE could up their offer, but at the moment, Friedman is expected to stay with AEW. Friedman has been a star in AEW. Check out what he has done there so far: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains vide..

There May Be Several New Free Agents On The Wrestling Market

See you down the road? The wrestling world has been all over the place in recent months and there is nothing to suggest that it is going to change anytime soon. That could make for some very interesting landscapes in the future, especially for the wrestlers who are going all over the place. It seems that might be the case for more wrestlers, but it might not be what it seems. According to PWInsider.com, five names have been removed from the Impact Wrestling roster page. The following names are no longer appearing on the page: Tommy Dreamer TJP Petey Williams No Way Taylor Wilde Dreamer is currently absent from television over his comments on a recent edition of Dark Side Of The Ring, while Williams is going through a tryout to be a WWE producer. However, Impact Wrestling has responded, saying that these wrestlers have not been released. It is not clear if they will continue to appear with the company going forward or not. You might not be seeing them again. Check out some of the nam..

More WWE Draft Picks From Raw Talk, Plus Remaining Free Agents

We aren’t done yet. The WWE Draft has come and gone for the year and it was certainly an eventful pair of nights. There were dozens of moves made with wrestlers jumping from show to show. At the same time though, there were some wrestlers who stayed on the shows they have been on for months now. It turns out that Monday Night Raw and SmackDown was not everything though, as we have some more picks. This week’s edition of Raw Talk included several more picks in the 2021 Draft. Both Monday Night Raw and SmackDown received additional picks, which were announced in a group rather than show by show. There were teams split up while one team did stay together as they moved. None of these picks had been made before the show aired. Here are the Raw Talk picks in no particular order: Monday Night Raw Dana Brooke Robert Roode Dolph Ziggler Jaxson Ryker Veer Liv Morgan Nox Tamina Mia Yim Shelton Benjamin Cedric Alexander Miz Smackdown Shotzi Natalya Jinder Mahal Shanky These names are in additi..

Several Former WWE Stars Are Now Free Agents, Can Sign Anywhere

Welcome to the fold. There are so many talented wrestlers on the free agent market today that it is hard to fathom. You have a lot of talented wrestlers in WWE and AEW but there are far more names outside of the two major promotions. That makes for some interesting situations as you never know when someone might pop up elsewhere. Now we have some more names available on the free agent market. Several names were released from WWE back in June, meaning that they would be under ninety day no compete clauses. Those clauses have since expired, meaning that main roster wrestlers released from the company are now free agents who are allowed to sign anywhere they like. These names include Ariya Daivari, Tony Nese, Fandango, Tyler Breeze, the Bollywood Boyz, Marina Shafir and Killian Dain. There is no word on where any of them will sign, though Dain still has a few legal issues to sort out before he can sign. Several of them have commented on their new status: Today, I'm officially a fre..

Interesting Update On Adam Cole’s Pro Wrestling Future

Happy trails? The turnover rate in WWE has been astounding as of late with all kinds of wrestlers being released from the company over the last few months. That is not the only way wrestlers have left though, as some have departed when their contracts expired. As a result, they are instantly free agents who can sign anywhere at any time. Now it is happening again with a fairly big name. According to PWInsider.com, Adam Cole is officially a free agent, as his contract expired last Friday. WWE sent out an internal memo, saying that Cole is gone from the company, though there is a chance that he could sign with WWE again. According to Fightful Select, Cole is currently expected to listen to offers from other promotions but could debut with any promotion at any time. Cole is a heck of a star. Interesting Update On Released WWE Wrestlers

Sooner than later? The WWE roster has been undergoing a pretty big shakeup in recent months as WWE has released all kinds of wrestlers from the promotion. This has caused not only a bunch of changes to WWE, but also to other promotions in the world. Having that many free agents available is going to make a difference, and that might faster than you would expect. According to Fightful Select, WWE has granted one released wrestler an early out from their no compete clause, meaning that they will be able to appear elsewhere before their ninety day clause expires. There is no word on who it was, though the wrestler did not have trouble getting such an exception. It is not clear if WWE will be doing the same for other released wrestlers. You could be seeing one of them soon.
