Get Your Money Ready: WWE Attempts To Legalize Betting On Matches

Money money? One of the biggest criticisms that you will hear of professional wrestling is that the endings are planned out in advance as the entire presentation is fixed. While this is true, the stories are built up in a way to leave fans wondering what they are going to see in a match or story. That can make things all the more interesting, and it could potentially make some money. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: They Could See Him: Backstage WWE Reaction To John Cena’s Monday Night Raw Appearance According to CNBC, WWE is attempting to legalize betting on its matches in Colorado and Michigan. The company has hired accounting firm Ernst & Young to help with the pitch. The firm has helped legalizing betting on the Emmys and Oscars, with WWE claiming that their results are kept secret in the same way. One potential solution would be for WWE to have storylines and results locked in place in advance, with wrestlers only finding out the results just before a match takes place. However, CNBC is a..

WATCH: Eddie Kingston Quits AEW In Bizarre Video

So I guess he’s done? With so many wrestlers on the AEW roster, it can be difficult to figure out a way to stand out. The wrestlers are talented and there are all kinds of people who can do a variety of things, but only a few are able to connect with the audience in a special way. One of the more popular wrestlers with that ability might not be around the company for a little while. This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite featured a Face Of The Revolution ladder match with eight stars. Early in the match, Eddie Kingston and Ortiz brawled off with commentary saying they had to be separated. Following the show, AEW aired a video, showing Kingston being interviewed. Kingston’s entire statement was “I quit AEW. Peace.” There is no word on where this is going. That was abrupt. WATCH: Bayley Attends Mercedes Mone’s First New Japan Match, Helps Lead Cheers

She’s a friend. There have been several teams throughout the years in WWE and some of them develop quite the friendship during their time together. Every so often you will see that friendship continue after the wrestlers leave a promotion, but it is much rarer to see it continue when one star is in a different promotion entirely. That was on display over the weekend. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: On The Mend: Update On Injured AEW Star’s Recovery Status Over the weekend, Mercedes Mone, better known as Sasha Banks during her time in WWE, defeated Kairi to become the new IWGP Women’s Champion. The Wrong Kind: This Royal Rumble Segment Reportedly Did Not Go Over Well Backstage

Are they wrong? A wrestler’s theme music is one of the most important aspects of their entire presentation. Having the right theme music can move a wrestler up to the next level, but the wrong choice can cause them some problems. Music and wrestling often cross paths in other places too and sometimes that is not a good thing. That seems to have been the case last weekend, at least internally in WWE. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: It’s Big: Here Is Why WWE Veered From The Usual Elimination Chamber Formula Over the weekend at the WWE Royal Rumble, Hardy gave a live performance of the show’s theme song, “Sold Out”. AEW Honors Jay Briscoe In Dynamite’s Main Event

They will always be Dem Boys. Tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite featured a tribute to Jay Briscoe, as his brother Mark, made his AEW debut against their longtime friend and rival, Jay Lethal. This tribute match came just over a week after Jay Briscoe passed away in a car accident at the age of 38. Ironically, the show also happened to be taking place on what would have been Jay’s 39th birthday. The finish of the match came when Mark Briscoe connected with The Froggy Bow through the timekeeper’s table. He then rolled Lethal into the ring, and after a series of maneuvers, Briscoe planted Lethal with The Jay Driller to pick up the victory. Following the match, the entire AEW locker room came on stage and gave a round of applause to both competitors. Several of them also hugged Lethal as he came up to the top of the entrance ramp. WATCH: Karrion Kross’ Very Odd Video With Wrestling Legend

I remember him. There are certain wrestlers who have been around the industry for what feels like forever. Many of them either work behind the scenes or continue to work in wrestling in some capacity after their in-ring careers are other. These people are lifers in wrestling and you will see them pop up every so often. That has happened again with a wrestler you do not see often in WWE. It’s Something: First Details Set For Royal Rumble Pitch Black Match

There’s a hint. With just a week to go before the 2023 Royal Rumble, WWE has mostly put the entire card together. While the matches are ready though, there are still a few questions that need to be answered. One of the more wide open spots on the card is the Pitch Black match between LA Knight and Bray Wyatt, as we don’t know much about it. Now that has changed, at least a little. Another Way: WWE Plans Different Kind Of Royal Rumble Surprises

They have a plan. We are a week away from the Royal Rumble and WWE is going to need to do something special for the show. The Royal Rumble is a show with a lot of built in advantages as the show’s namesake matches allow for multiple surprises. Planning those out can be difficult but WWE has already started, albeit in a way that you might not be expecting. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Not So Rowdy? Not this time? We are rapidly approaching WrestleMania 39 and there are several questions about where things are going. One of the biggest questions is about the main event, which has been rumored as the Rock facing Roman Reigns for several months now. Blast From The Past: Possibility Of WWE Returning To Monthly Pay Per Views Under New Owners

That would be a step. We are in the middle of a series of changes in WWE as it is not clear where things are going. The biggest change seems to be focused around the idea of the company being sold to new owners, which opens a whole new world for the company. There are going to be a variety of changes should that take place, and now we have an idea of a possible huge change. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: A Long Run: WWE Name Departs Company After 25 Years When speaking about the possible sale on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer speculated that WWE premium live events could return to being pay per views. Meltzer pointed to Endeavor (UFC’s parent company) having a series of regular events and then charging for major events. However, this would entirely depend on the Peacock contract, as Peacock pays WWE more than they would be able to make via pay per view. While Meltzer does not think such a change would happen, it would be something that Endeavor, or perhaps another new owner, would co..

Farewell: Wrestling Legend Says His Career Is “Probably Over”

He’s done. Retirement is a tricky concept in wrestling as a wrestler can always come back for one more match if given the chance. Rather than having to wrestler a full season of matches like a mainstream athlete would, a wrestler can jump in and out whenever they like. WATCH: WWE Stable Turns Heel In Surprise Switch On SmackDown

They switched. Stables are an interesting concept in wrestling as you can have a bunch of wrestlers together in one group to let them get more television time. That can cause a lot to change at once if the entire group does something different. That seems to be the case this week, as a team of wrestlers is now going in a rather different direction for the first time in this place.
