LOOK: WWE Star Sends Disturbing Message To Rhea Ripley

She might need a restraining order. There are all kinds of stars on the WWE roster, some of whom are among the most unique kinds of stars that you will see in any wrestling promotion. It can be interesting to see those wrestlers come together in a match or some kind of a storyline, but there are other times where it takes a bit of a darker turn, which was the case with two current WWE stars. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: He’s In: WWE Announces Change To #1 Contenders Match Due To Injury Earlier this week on Monday Night Raw, Johnny Gargano defeated Finn Balor in a match, with Dexter Lumis and Rhea Ripley both at ringside. Lumis has sent Ripley a message on Twitter, featuring a drawing of him holding an ax and asking if Ripley liked drawings. Ripley has not responded to the post. Lumis debuted on the WWE main roster last year but has yet to speak a word on television. @RheaRipley_WWE do you like drawings? pic.twitter.com/mFyptpx8Cp — Dexter Lumis (@DexterWWE) March 8, 2023 This is a weird..

They Did It: WWE Announces All Time Record Set By This Week’s Monday Night Raw

Thirty years in the making! Wrestling is a lot of things, but ultimately it is a business, with the main idea being to get people to watch. Without fans watching, there is not going to be much of a future to the place. Drawing an audience is what matters most at the end of the day and now the biggest wrestling company in the world has set a new record when it comes to drawing in money through fans. Monday Night Raw Results – January 2, 2023

Monday Night Raw Date: January 2, 2023 Location: Bridgestone Arena, Nashville, Tennessee Commentators: Kevin Patrick, Corey Graves We are inching closer to the Royal Rumble and that means it is time to start setting up the show. With so many wrestlers needed to get into the Royal Rumble matches, there are only going to be so many spots left for other matches. At the same time though, only one person has been announced for either Royal Rumble so they might want to start picking up the pace. Then again, they might want to have a lot of surprises this time. Let’s get to it. We open with the Bloodline (minus Roman Reigns/Paul Heyman) wrecking havoc at ringside. Sami Zayn says they’re taking over tonight but here is Kevin Owens to interrupt. Sami calls this a hostile takeover but Owens says he wants to punch Zayn in the face. Cue Adam Pearce and company to tell Owens that this isn’t happening tonight or all year. Security goes after the Bloodline but gets dropped, drawing Owens into the r..

Nope. Wrestling Legend Confirms His In-Ring Career Is Over

He’s done. Retirement is a tricky subject for wrestlers as it can be hard to hang up their boots for the final time. While more mainstream athletes have to complete one more season, wrestlers are able to go out and have one more match at almost anytime they want. That makes officially retiring harder than it seems, but one legend seems pretty sure he is out. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: He’s Still Got It: John Cena Proves His Drawing Power In WWE During a recent appearance on the Culture State podcast, WWE Hall Of Famer Shawn Michaels was asked if he would be coming out of retirement for one more match. Michaels flat out said that he was done, saying “I’ve had that final match” and that he was happy with his career and wanted to see the next generation get their chance. Michaels, 57 years old, last wrestled at Crown Jewel 2018, ending an eight year retirement. He now runs the NXT developmental program for WWE. Michaels had an amazing career. He’s Still Got It: John Cena Proves His Drawing Power In WWE

He’s kind of a big deal. There are certain stars who have reached the very top level in WWE history. You do not get to see very many wrestlers become the face of the company, but those who are have become household names in WWE. Now one of the stars is making a special return for what seems to be one night only, but he is already making one heck of an impact. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Try Again: Former World Champion Likely Making WWE Return In January Last week on SmackDown, a match was announced for the December 30 episode, featuring Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn teaming up to face Kevin Owens and John Cena. This will mark Cena’s first match with the company since Summerslam 2021 last August. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, the show, set for the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, has sold an additional 4,000 tickets since Cena was announced. There is no word on how many tickets had been sold before the Cena announcement. Cena is certainly a star. Check out what happens when he comes..

WATCH: Nikki Cross Teases Return Of Former Stable

Welcome back? Stables have been a huge part of WWE for decades and that will likely continue to be the case for a long time to come. The idea makes perfect sense as a stable allows several wrestlers to get television time at once while often uniting under a common theme. Now a current WWE star is teasing the return of a stable which did not get the best chance in the company. WWE star Nikki Cross has released a video of herself talking to a series of drawings on a chalkboard. Cross blows bubbles at the pictures and says she’ll make sure the drawings will get what they want for Christmas before wiping them away. The drawing appears to be Cross from her time as part of the Sanity stable. This comes as rumors of Eric Young returning to WWE have been circulating, suggesting that Sanity could reform. However, there is nothing to confirm that the team will be back. She’s a bit out there. Check out Cross’ video and what could be coming back: [This post contains video, click to play] [This..

New Home? Important Streaming Trend Could Shake Up AEW And WWE Television Deals

That’s a good sign. Wrestling is in a weird place when compared to mainstream sports. While wrestling is certainly an athletic endeavor, it is closer to a performance than a competition. At the same time, wrestling has quite the audience and that is something that can bring in quite a bit of money. Now the two biggest wrestling companies in the United States might be ready to use their audience to bring in a lot more money. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: WWE Star Teases Taking Going In A New Direction According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Thursday Night Football on Amazon is drawing in the same numbers in the 18-49 demographic as Monday Night Football on ESPN. This suggests that a core audience will watch a show on streaming, which could lead to online platforms such as Amazon Prime or Netflix could be interested in acquiring WWE or AEW programming when the new broadcasting deals are available. WWE’s current TV deals expire in September 2024, with the negotiations for a new ..

It’s A Special Case: Monday Night Raw Match Ends Due To Secret Rule

That’s the reason. Wrestling is a lot of things, but it is supposed to be presented as a sport. That means following various rules and regulations, with most matches following the same ones. On occasion there will be a match with something changed for a special situation, but this time around things were even more out there, as a match ended due to a rule that few know about. This week on Monday Night Raw, AJ Styles and Ezekiel defeated the Miz and Ciampa via disqualification when the illegal Ciampa attacked AJ Styles. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, this was due to a secret rule in WWE. In a tag match, a wrestler is allowed to make one illegal save, with the second drawing a disqualification. Ciampa was making his second save and was disqualified as a result. Opinion: I’m not sure I get why this is a secret rule. If someone is making an illegal save, isn’t that breaking a rule by definition? This doesn’t sound so much like a secret as much as it sounds like being a bit tediou..

They’re Done: AEW Team Split, Team Seems To Be Turning To The Other Side

Breaking up is hard to do. There are a lot of wrestlers on the AEW roster and it can be difficult to keep track of what they are all doing. Sometimes it is easier to put them together in various groups and that is what a lot of the wrestlers have done over the years. That can make for some interesting moments, but now we had something else take place as one group is no longer a thing. This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite saw the Gunn Club and the Acclaimed defeat Ruffin It and Fuego del Sol in an eight man tag. The match ended when Max Caster hit the Mic Drop on Bear Bronson but Austin Gunn stole the pin. Following the match, the winners brawled, drawing in Billy Gunn to break up the fight. Billy then turned on the Acclaimed and left them laying before walking away with his sons. Opinion: This is one of those things that needed to happen and it makes sense for the change to take place. At the end of the day, if AEW wants the Acclaimed to be cheered, it didn’t make sense to have them t..

Good News About NXT’s Television Performance

The ones that matter. NXT has been completely changed in recent months, with the launch of NXT 2.0 taking away almost all of the things that defined the promotion for years. That is the kind of thing you do not see take place very often and it was a big shakeup, including for the television show. The audience is not what it once was either, but what does that mean to the USA network? According to the Mat Men Wrestling podcast, USA is happy with the audience that NXT has been drawing in recent weeks. This includes an audience in the 600,000 viewers a week range, with 700,000 for a major show. The last two editions have featured audiences of 624,000 on March 15 and 613,000 on March 8. USA also reportedly does not care if WWE stars appear on the show, as long as the audience is in the acceptable range. Opinion: A lot of fans, certainly myself included, will regularly discuss the audience numbers for a wrestling show, but ultimately the network’s opinion is what matters the most. If USA ..

Interesting Note On WWE’s Efforts To Appease FOX

They have people to please. WWE knows how to make more money than they know what to do with most of the time and that has certainly been the case as of late. The company has a group of major income sources, with their television deals near the top of the list. Those deals keep WWE profitable every year and that means WWE is going to want to do what they can to keep them around. It seems they have been doing it even more as of late. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE has been going out of its way to make FOX happy. This is because WWE feels FOX does not need them, as SmackDown’s audiences are lower than FOX’s averages. As a result, WWE has put several bigger names on SmackDown, including Brock Lesnar, Ronda Rousey and Charlotte. There is nothing to suggest that FOX will be dropping WWE or changing their time slot. WWE began a five year deal with FOX in September 2019. Opinion: What matters here is that WWE seems to be making FOX happy. While WWE might not be drawing the same n..

Vince McMahon’s Mother Passes Away

We have some sad news to report this morning as Vince McMahon’s mother, Vicky Askew, has passed away at the age of 101. She died peacefully in her sleep at her home in The Woodlands, TX, just outside of Houston. From her obituary: Vicki was born on July 11, 1920 in Florence, South Carolina, the only daughter of four children of Orpheus William Hanner and Victoria Kennedy Hanner. The family moved when Vicki was a young girl to Sanford and then to East Sanford, NC where she spent her childhood. Vicki was blessed with two sons, Rod and Vince, both of whom married their childhood sweethearts. Sadly, Rod passed away one year to the day before his mother. Vicki’s childhood was tough. She spoke of it in an interview for the North Shore Church in 2018: “My mother had to go to work to support me and my three brothers. She started by selling Avon. During the Great Depression, I remember drawing my foot on pasteboard and putting it in my shoe (the sole had holes and no one could afford new s..

VIDEO: Top Star Returns At AEW Dynamite, Teases New Feud

Welcome home. Wrestlers leaving a promotion can be a problem at times but they have no choice but to go away for one reason or another. Some of these are not as serious as others, as a wrestler might need to take care of something outside of the ring. Even if that is the case, their return can still be pretty special, which seemed to be the case during a return this week. Chris Jericho made his return during this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite. Jericho ran in to clear out 2.0 and Daniel Garcia, who had defeated Eddie Kingston, Santana and Ortiz. After the match, Garcia hit Santana in the face with the ring bell, drawing out Jericho for the save. Kingston did not care for Jericho’s actions and the two had to be separated. Jericho had been missing since the December 1 Dynamite due to going on tour with his band Fozzy. Jericho is a big deal in AEW. WATCH: New Star Makes Save In WWE SmackDown Debut

Welcome to the show. It would be an understatement to say that WWE’s roster has been shaken up in recent months, as well over a hundred wrestlers have been released from the company. That has resulted in quite the set of changes, some of which have been quite noticeable. Some of those spots are going to need to be filled, and one might have been covered this week. Xia Li made her SmackDown debut this week, saving Naomi from a three on one attack. Naomi had been scheduled to face Sonya Deville, who had Natalya and Shayna Baszler there to help. The match never started as Naomi tried to fight all three, drawing out Li for the save. Li wrestled in NXT for years and has had vignettes airing about her impending debut for the last few weeks. It was a nice debut. Check out Li’s first night on SmackDown plus some of her time in NXT: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This has me interest..

It’s A New Day 1 Card, Yes It Is! Two Huge Title Matches Added To WWE Day 1

Time to set it up. We are rapidly closing out the year and that means it is time to get ready for the new one. WWE is not exactly wasting time with this one as they are setting up their Day 1 pay per view event on January 1. That is not a lot of time to get ready but now they are boosting things up in a big way, as they have tripled the amount of matches set for the show in one night. This week’s SmackDown saw the addition of two more matches to the Day 1 card. First up the New Day will be challenging the Usos for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles. King Woods was facing Jey Usos when Jimmy Uso interfered, drawing in Kofi Kingston for the save. The match was made later in the show. Also on the show, Roman Reigns defeated Sami Zayn to retain the Universal Title. As a result, Reigns will now be defending against Brock Lesnar at Day 1. There are three matches set. Check out how all of them were set up: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [..

NXT Results – November 16, 2021

NXT Date: November 16, 2021 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Beth Phoenix, Vic Joseph, Wade Barrett We’re back to whatever NXT has become but this time it’s all about WarGames. Somehow NXT thinks they have a matchup that will work there, though I’m almost scared to know who is going to be included. Maybe we find that out tonight, plus get what should be an obvious setup for Breakker vs. Ciampa II. Let’s get to it. Tony D’Angelo vs. Dexter Lumis Fallout from D’Angelo suggesting Lumis was about to get whacked. Lumis has a drawing for D’Angelo, showing him asleep in a school of fish. D’Angelo bails away to start and gets caught with a Thesz press. Back up and D’Angelo gets in a few shots of his own to take over and we hit the chinlock. Lumis fights up again but D’Angelo snaps his throat across the top. With Lumis staggered, D’Angelo grabs the easel the drawing is sitting on, which is quickly taken away. That’s all D’Angelo needs as he pokes Lumis in the..

How AEW Dynamite Is Beating Monday Night Raw On An Even Playing Field

Now with hard numbers. Since AEW’s debut around two and a half years ago, the promotion has gone into something of a cold war with WWE. While the two companies have gone head to head on Wednesday nights with NXT, it wasn’t quite the same thing as AEW Dynamite vs. WWE Monday Night Raw. That still is not the case now, but something similar has caught some eyes. On Monday November 29 and Wednesday December 8 respectively, Monday Night Raw and Dynamite will be held in the UBS Arena in Long Island, New York. The WrestleTix Twitter account is reporting that, as of Saturday evening, Dynamite is outdrawing Monday Night Raw in ticket sales, at 70% sold for Dynamite and 32% sold for Monday Night Raw. Dynamite’s setup allows for about 1,500 more fans and Monday Night Raw has nearly twice as many tickets still available (5,033 to Dynamite’s 2,684). WWE Monday Night RAW Mon • Nov 29 • 7:30 PM UBS Arena, Belmont Park – Long Island, NY Available Tickets => 5,033 Estimated Capacity => 7,398 Tickets..

AEW All Out Smashes Important Record

I’d call it an accomplishment. AEW has hit the ground running despite not even being around for three years yet. That is the kind of thing that you almost never see in the wrestling industry but AEW has made it work very well. What makes it all the more interesting is seeing where they are going to go next, and now they have a new accomplishment worth bragging about. Last Sunday, AEW presented its All Out 2021 pay per view, which featured multiple title matches, the in-ring return of CM Punk and the debuts of Ruby Soho, Adam Cole and Bryan Danielson. On Monday, AEW President Tony Khan said that the show was the most viewed AEW pay per view of all time. Now, Busted Open Radio has released a clip of Khan speaking about the show, where he reveals that All Out received over two hundred thousand pay per view buys. The previous AEW record was Revolution 2021, drawing about 125,000 buys. Thank you to everyone who’s ordered #AEWAllOut & made it the most watched @AEW PPV ever! Thank you every..

WATCH: Nasty Injury Takes Place During This Week’s NXT

Hopefully it isn’t too bad. Injuries can happen at any time in a sport as physical as wrestling. There is no way to be completely safe during a match as there is always the chance of some sort of a fluke injury. Some of these are much worse than others, but there are also going to be some more minor injuries which grab your attention in a hurry. The latter was the case this week. Ilja Dragunov was busted open during a match on this week’s NXT. During a match against Roderick Strong, Dragunov was elbowed in the face, drawing blood from above his right eye. Dragunov was able to finish the match, eventually pinning Strong with the Torpedo Moscow. Later in the night, WWE announced that Dragunov received eight stitches to close the wound and is medically cleared for his United Kingdom Title match against Walter at NXT Takeover 36 this coming Sunday. It was a nasty injury. Check out the match, plus what you might be seeing on Sunday: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post ..

WATCH: Nia Jax Badly Busted Open During Monday Night Raw

Ouch. Wrestling is a physical sport and that can cause problems every now and then. You can see all kinds of injuries take place in wrestling at any time and they can come in a few different ways. Some of them are going to be a lot more obvious than others and you can tell what happens almost immediately. That was the case this week and it was a pretty nasty incident. Nia Jax was cut open during this week’s edition of Monday Night Raw. During a match with Rhea Ripley, Jax was elbowed in the face next to her left eye, drawing blood. The bleeding got worse throughout the match, ultimately causing the entire side of her face to be nearly covered in blood. Jax was able to finish the match, with Ripley winning and attacking Jax again after the match was over. There is nothing to suggest that Jax will miss any time. It was a nasty cut. Check out two looks at the match, plus how karma might be catching up with Jax: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click..
