NXT LVL Up Date: February 24, 2023 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Blake Howard, Byron Saxton It’s another LVL Up and again I’m not sure what to expect. The best formula around here seems to be having some midcard NXT stars in the main event and the younger stars filling in the rest of the show. That has worked well in the past, but you never know what direction the show is going to take. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Axiom vs. Kale Dixon Dixon works on the arm to start but Axiom reverses into an armbar of his own. A springboard kick to the side of the head drops Dixon but he’s right back with some clubbing forearms. They trade kicks to the ribs until Dixon gets two off a delayed vertical suplex. Axiom strikes his way out of a chinlock and there’s a high crossbody. The Golden Ratio finishes for Axiom at 4:35. Result: Axiom b. A New Direction: WWE Plans Surprise Title Change At WrestleMania 39 (POSSIBLE SPOILERS)
That’s new for her. Back in 2018, Ronda Rousey made her WWE debut and instantly became one of the biggest stars in the company. A year after she made her in-ring debut, she was headlining WrestleMania in the first ever all women’s main event. Rousey is back in WWE after a hiatus and now it turns out that the company has something different planned for her at WrestleMania this year. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: In The Making: WWE Planned This WrestleMania 39 Match Since Last July In recent weeks, Rousey and her friend Shayna Baszler have been working together more often and talking about dominating the company. One of the most important players has been Jey Uso, who has supported his cousin Roman Reigns during most of the story. This has become a problem in recent weeks though, and now we know where a new twist might go. Rampage Date: February 3, 2023 Location: Nutter Center, Dayton, Ohio Commentators: Chris Jericho, Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, Excalibur Rampage continues to be a bit all over the place as you know most of the card/lineup in advance but it still feels like a show that could go in a bunch of different directions. The 2023 Royal Rumble Event Was “Easy” Without Vince McMahon
It’s a new way to go. According to a report from Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, the 2023 Royal Rumble event was said to have been the “easiest” that it’s has been in a long time, with regard to putting the show together. This is due to the lack of creative involvement from Vince McMahon. This year’s Royal Rumble was the first under Triple H and the report states that there was a good feeling about the show in the end, including the morale among talent. Furthermore, it was said that from a day-to-day and weekly basis, the atmosphere is much more laid back. One of the only reminders of Vince’s influence remains the “Vince’s office” directional sign that hasn’t been changed since he left but points to a section of the backstage area that is completely different. Finn Balor was recently interviewed by BT Sport, where he discussed his conversation with Vince McMahon about joining the Judgement Day and turning heel. They switched. Stables are an interesting concept in wrestling as you can have a bunch of wrestlers together in one group to let them get more television time. That can cause a lot to change at once if the entire group does something different. That seems to be the case this week, as a team of wrestlers is now going in a rather different direction for the first time in this place. Following the match, Dolla shook Ricochet’s hand, allowing Dolla’s Hit Row teammate Ashante Thee Adonis to superkick Ricochet. The team, including B Fab, attacked Ricochet, turning heel in the process. Braun Strowman, Ricochet’s occasional tag partner, ran in for the save. That didn’t take long. To say that WWE is rapidly changing at this point would be a huge understatement as the major backstage pieces keep moving around. There were all kinds of changes last year, including one at the very top of the company. Now things have changed back in the other direction after a very short time, as the original boss is back in a huge way. Wexler) have officially been removed, allowing McMahon and former co-Presidents George Barrios and Michelle Wilson to take their places. A holiday tradition? There have been all kinds of wrestling families throughout the years, many of which have become some of the better known names in the industry. You often see multiple generations of the same family, some of whom get to work together at one point or another. Former WWE Star Lana Thinks Miro Will Return To WWE Rey Mysterio feuded with Dominik earlier in the year, resulting in Rey moving from Monday Night Raw to SmackDown. The feud has continued on social media though, with Dominik and his girlfriend Rhea Ripley trying to invade Rey’s home on Thanksgiving. Dominik and Ripley attempted to do it again on Christmas Eve, but this time Rey backed them out of their house. Rey’s wife Angie slapped Ripley and then police arrived to arrest Dominik. While there were rumors of a return for several months, Banks ultimately went on to be announced for an appearance at New Japan’s Wrestle Kingdom. Sasha Banks Appearing At Wrestle Kingdom 17
The Boss is heading overseas. According to a report from PWInsider, Sasha Banks is expected to appear at New Japan Pro Wrestling’s Wrestle Kingdom 17 event next month. It is unknown in what capacity she will be used, if at all, during the show. Banks has not wrestled since she and Naomi walked out on WWE before the May 16 episode of Raw. Both women were upset about the creative direction of their characters, and were subsequently stripped of the Women’s Tag Team Championships. From the report: Back in October, Varnado teased the idea of wrestling former WWE star KAIRI in STARDOM, which shares the same corporate owner as NJPW and recently did a crossover event with NJPW.
