WATCH: Two WWE Stars Appear In Separate Super Bowl Commercials

That’s a big stage. While wrestlers are celebrities who are on national television every week, there is a limit to how big most of them are going to become. That can be seen when these stars are rarely involved in any mainstream media appearances. Every so often you see something a little more surprising and now that has happened again, in one of the most prominent places available. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: RUMOR KILLER On Mercedes Mone’s New Japan Payday Two WWE names appeared in Super Bowl commercials this weekend. First, Logan Paul appeared in a commercial for his Prime sports drink. The clip included footage of Paul in WWE, including his frog splash to Miz at Summerslam 2022. Second, Undertaker appeared in a Draftkings ad, featuring a number of other sports celebrities, including Tony Hawk and David Ortiz, among others. Undertaker was in his full gear and acknowledged by his ring name. They were certainly different. Check out the ads, plus WWE’s Super Bowl ad: [This post contains..

REVIEW: Elimination Chamber 2017: Last One

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Elimination Chamber 2017 Date: February 12, 2017 Location: Talking Stick Resort Arena, Phoenix, Arizona Commentators: Mauro Ranallo, John Bradshaw Layfield, Tom Phillips, David Otunga We’re two weeks removed from the Royal Rumble and that means it’s time for another pay per view. This time it’s Smackdown only with the big namesake match setting up the Wrestlemania World Title match for the blue brand. The winner seems pretty obvious but that’s never stopped WWE before. Let’s get to it. Pre-Show: Curt Hawkins vs. Moj..

REVIEW: Royal Rumble 2017: All The People

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Royal Rumble 2017 Date: January 29, 2017 Location: Alamodome, San Antonio, Texas Attendance: 52,020 Commentators: Michael Cole, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton, Mauro Ranallo, John Bradshaw Layfield, David Otunga, Tom Phillips It’s kind of amazing how much this show has been forgotten in just about a year. Other than AJ Styles vs. John Cena, I can barely remember a single thing about this show. I know who won the Rumble and who were some of the bigger stars in the match but the rest is kind of a blur, which isn’t a good s..

REVIEW: Ric Flair’s Last Match: Please Be An Accurate Description

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Ric Flair’s Last Match Date: July 31, 2022 Location: Nashville Municipal Auditorium, Nashville, Tennessee Commentators: Tony Schiavone, David Crockett, Ian Riccaboni We had to get here eventually and I’m not that happy about it. This is a show that I haven’t really wanted to watch since it was announced and that hasn’t changed since. While I absolutely respect what he did in the ring, I’m not the biggest Flair fan and seeing him do something this risky isn’t something I particularly needed to see. The good thing i..

WATCH: WWE And AEW Stars Pay Tribute To Impact Wrestling

With special guest stars! Wrestling companies come and go all the time and some of them take their leave without much fanfare. It can be quite impressive when a company manages to survive for a long time but even longer when they do so with some success. One major company was celebrating a milestone this weekend and they had some guest stars to help. Impact Wrestling held its Slammiversary pay per view this weekend in honor of the company celebrating twenty years since its debut. Several guest stars and surprises appeared on the show, including videos from Sting, AJ Styles and Kurt Angle. Also appearing were past company names such as David Young, Slash, Chase Stevens and Shark Boy, all of whom appeared in the Reverse Battle Royal on the Countdown show. Former WWE Referee Tim White Passes Away At Age 68

We have some sad news to report today as former WWE referee Tim White passed away at the age of 68. This is just one day after another former referee, David Hebner, died at age 73. From WWE.com: For more than two decades, Tim White was a dedicated WWE referee and official. He began his illustrious career in 1985 working with Andre the Giant and as a part-time referee. During his tenure, he was the referee for some of WWE’s biggest matches, including the infamous Hell in a Cell Match between Undertaker and Mankind at King of the Ring 1998. A shoulder injury effectively ended White’s in-ring career, but he still remained a major part of WWE, working behind the scenes as an official and talent agent until 2009. We at Wrestling Rumors extend our deepest condolences to the White family during this difficult time. “GET EXCLUSIVE UPDATES! Details On Tessa Blanchard’s Fallout With Women Of Wrestling, Original Plans

That could have gone differently. There are some very talented wrestlers in the world but there is often something that holds them back from reaching their true potential. That could be any of several possible options, and unfortunately they can prevent fans from seeing some very talented stars. It seems that is the case again, now with one of the more talented stars in the world. Earlier this month, Tessa Blanchard and Women Of Wrestling reportedly had a falling out, resulting in Blanchard’s relationship with the company and its owner, David McClane weakening. According to Fightful Select, Blanchard is no longer figured in to the company’s plans, including their initial television tapings, which were held last week. Blanchard’s association with the promotion was designed to be a rehabilitation project for her due to major promotions not showing any interest in her. The issues between the two sides began when CBS, Women Of Wrestling’s television partner, canceled a planned tryout mat..

WATCH: Former WWE Star Appearing In New Marvel Series

It’s a gig. Wrestlers have a tendency to be some of the most larger than life figures that you will see no matter where you go. They are able to do things that do not seem logical but work in their own universe. That is the case with almost any wrestler, but it can be strange to see them outside of their bubble. Now we are seeing someone else go to a different kind of over the top area. Former WWE star David Otunga makes a cameo appearance in the trailer for She Hulk: Attorney At Law, an upcoming Disney+ series. Otunga seems to play a date of the title character and is seen posing with his muscles flexing in his appearance. Otunga retired from wrestling in 2014, last wrestling on a WWE live event in July 2015. Since retiring from the ring, Otunga has dabbled in acting, appearing in both movies and television series. You’ll see him. Check out the trailer for the series: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is the kind of thing that is always somewhat interesting,..

DiBiase Family Facing Civil Lawsuit Over Huge Embezzlement Scheme

I guess that’s the price. Wrestlers are larger than life characters who get to appear on television and try to convince fans that everything they are seeing is real. That can often cause the lines between reality and fantasy to blur, but these same wrestlers have problems that they have to deal with just like regular people. That is the case again, as a wrestling family is having to face some legal issues. Back in 2020, Brett DiBiase, the son of WWE Hall of Famer Ted DiBiase, pleaded guilty to taking part in the largest embezzlement scheme in the history of Mississippi. Ted’s Heart of David Ministries is alleged to have received $2.1 million from the state as part of the scheme, though Ted did not face any criminal charges. According to 411mania.com, the state of Mississippi has filed a civil lawsuit against 38 people, including the DiBiase family, alleged to have been part of the scheme or received some of the funds. The DiBiase family has not commented on the lawsuit. You can see th..

New 25 Episode Podcast Series About WWE Attitude Era Coming Next Month

It’s worth a listen. WWE has been around for a very long time now and has quite the history. There have been all kinds of looks back at that history, oftentimes through the official WWE lens. That can lead to some interesting takes o what the company has done over the years and now we might be seeing something similar, albeit with someone else giving their take. The Ringer will be releasing a new 25 part podcast series called The Book of WWE, looking at a variety of catchphrases from the Attitude Era. The podcast will be hosted by David Shoemaker and is based off a book by Bill Simmons. It will debut on April 4 with a new episode being released every weekday for the next five weeks. There is no word on any possible subjects being covered in the series. Opinion: This is something that could be interesting, though that is a rather specific topic and time frame to look at. I know the Attitude Era has a certain special feeling for a lot of wrestling fans, but there is so much else out th..

Back on the market. The wrestling world has changed a lot in recent years and that does not seem to be letting up anytime soon. There are so many places for a wrestler to go around the world and now almost anyone can see them at almost anytime. Robinson is hoping to reignite his singles career before his deal expires, as he has mainly been teaming with David Finlay as FinJuice. Ted DiBiase And Family Ordered To Repay Millions In Embezzled Funds

That could cost them. Wrestlers are larger than life characters who try their best to make you believe that everything they are doing is real. That can make for some difficult situations as sometimes they are so over the top that no one would believe what they are seeing. The great ones can make it work, though now it would be nice to have someone’s character be their real life persona. The office of Mississippi State Auditor Shad White has announced, by way of NBC 29 (Charlottesville, Virginia) that the state is attempting to recover $77 million in misspent Temporary Assistance For Needy Families funding. This includes money given to the DiBiase family, who was implicated in the scandal in 2020. DiBiase’s family has been ordered to repay millions of dollars to the state, including the following specifics: • Brett Dibiase: $225,950 • Heart of David Ministries, controlled by Ted Dibiase, Sr.: $722,299 • Ted Dibiase, Jr.: $3.903 million These situations are civil, meaning that no on..

Jay White Leading A Bullet Club Invasion In AEW?

Jay White retained the IWGP NEVER Openweight Championship against David Finally at NJPW Resurgence. The event took place on Friday, August 13 live from The Torch at the Los Angeles Coliseum. The defacto Bullet Club leader came into the match with quite the buzz surrounding him, thanks to his recent stint in Impact Wrestling. That stint includes the addition of Chris Bey into the Bullet Club’s ranks. White is met with cheers and full crowd support despite where he goes, which is understandable. American fans admire King Switch’s work from afar and that is typically always the case. But this is about more than just Jay getting over in the United States. Is The Bullet Club gearing up for an American invasion? [This post contains video, click to play] It’s Still His Era The Switchblade is the undeniable top heel in New Japan Pro Wrestling. His devious tactics and despicable nature keep him firmly on the company’s dark side. It’s a role that firmly he embraces. No one cuts a heel promo..

That is what we get to find out next week, but for now we still have some more things to cover first. Since this is modern wrestling, the Bullet Club is involved, as Jay White and company are fighting against the Elite, including a six man tag this week. Let’s get to it. Opening recap. Opening sequence. Chris Bey vs. Juice Robinson Jay White and David Finlay are here too. Bey dropkicks him into the corner at the bell and Robinson gets stomped down in a hurry. Robinson gets sent outside and something like a 619 on the mat takes him down again. Back in and Robinson catches Bey’s kick to the ribs, only to get pulled into a sleeper. Robinson slips out so Bey hits a Fameasser for two. Robinson is back with a spinebuster for a breather and they’re both down for a bit. The Ca..

Impact Wrestling Results – February 16, 2021

Impact Wrestling Date: February 16, 2021 Location: Skyway Studios, Nashville, Tennessee Commentators: D’Lo Brown, Matt Striker We’re done with No Surrender and that means it’s time to get moving towards Rebellion. There weren’t a ton of changes coming out of No Surrender but one of the more interesting ones saw Josh Alexander becoming the new #1 contender to the X-Division Title. The question for tonight is seeing what we’ll be seeing from AEW next. And what is up with Tommy Dreamer. Let’s get to it. We open with a No Surrender recap. David Finlay and Juice Robinson, better known as FinJuice, are coming from New Japan. Opening sequence. X-Division Title: Josh Alexander vs. TJP TJP is defending and they’re starting fast this week. They go to the mat to start and the threat of an ankle lock sends TJP straight to the ropes. Back up and an abdominal stretch has Alexander in some trouble but that’s broken up. REVIEW: Ring Of Honor Motor City Madness 2006: I Get It

Motor City Madness Date: October 7, 2006 Location: Michigan State Fairgrounds & Expo Center, Detroit, Michigan Commentators: Dave Prazak, Jared David It’s another ROH DVD and another era I don’t know much about. This time around we have Bryan Danielson defending the World Title against Austin Aries and a dream tag match between Samoa Joe/Homicide vs. the Brisc..

Several NXT UK Wrestlers And More Accused Of Sexual Assault And Harassment

This could be big. Back in 2017, the MeToo movement began and quickly gained steam, becoming international in a hurry. The idea was to gauge the amount of women who had been sexually assaulted or harassed and try to make some sort of a change. This led to a new era of fighting back against such issues, with Hollywood and politics being major areas of change. Now, it is wrestling’s turn. Earlier this week, independent wrestler David Starr was accused of sexual abuse and admitted to some of the allegations. On Thursday, this set off what is being called SpeakOut, as a host of allegations accusing other wrestlers, many of whom are from the United Kingdom, of sexual harassment or assault, have come forward. There have been allegations made against over several wrestlers, many of whom work for WWE under the NXT UK banner. The following list of examples is by no means exhaustive. One of the bigger names is NXT Cruiserweight Champion Jordan Devlin, who is accused of beating a woman named Ha..

WWE Pressures Independent Companies To Stop Using Star

That’s a big company for you. Whether you like them or not, the WWE is the most powerful wrestling company in the world. If they want someone or something, odds are they are going to be able to get it in the end. That’s how things have worked for a long time and it turns out that they can influence other companies at the same time. That is what they are doing now and a wrestler is suffering as a result. Ever since professional wrestling began, the idea of a wrestlers’ union has never come to pass. It is something that would be a huge problem for the promoters, which is why they have wanted to prevent anything from ever coming together. That may or may not be a good idea, but it is what WWE is going to do every time they have to. They did it again, and this time it is doing some damage to a wrestler’s career. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has pressured both Westside Xtreme Wrestling (German) and Progress Wrestling (England) to move away from David Starr, an indep..
