AEW Rampage Results – December 16, 2022

Rampage Date: December 16, 2022 Location: Curtis Culwell Center, Garland, Texas Commentators: Jim Ross, Excalibur, Tony Schiavone We’re almost done with the year and the interesting point here came from Tony Khan, who promised to put in some more effort on this show. I’m not sure what that is going to mean, but the card certainly does look to be a bit bigger than usual. That might not last beyond a week or two, but I’ll take what I can get. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Jon Moxley vs. Sammy Guevara Tay Melo is here too. Guevara knees him in the face to start and bites away in the corner. That earns Guevara a clothesline to the floor as we see Daniel Garcia, now under Guevara’s tutelage, watching in the back. Moxley is happy with fighting outside and loads up a chair, only to be sent back inside. That’s fine with Moxley, who grabs a jumping cutter into a superplex for two. Guevara manages to backflip over him though and hits a dropkick out to the floor. A hard stomp on the apro..

First up, we have the battle for the World Title and the Dynamite Diamond Ring with Ricky Starks challenging MJF. Other than that, it’s the fourth match in the best of seven series between the Elite and the Death Triangle. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Elite vs. Death Triangle Match #4 in a Best Of 7 series with Death Triangle up 2-1 and Don Callis on commentary. Matt and Penta start things off with neither being able to get the better of things. Instead everything breaks down and the Elite hits a bunch of dives to take over. We settle back down to Omega working on Pac’s arm as Nick Jackson seems to have hurt his ankle on a dive. With the actual tag match going on again, Fenix takes over on Matt as Nick is taken to the back. We take a break and come back with Matt beating ..

Feel The Pinch: WWE Budget Cuts Causing Backstage Issues

That’s not going to go well. WWE needs a lot of people behind the scenes to make a show work well. While the wrestlers are the focal points of the show, there are several people who work together to make the wrestlers look better. In WWE, these people are called producers, and now it seems that they are going to be doing a good bit more work for the foreseeable future. According to PWInsider.com, budget cuts in WWE have caused the company to not use as many producers. This includes Curtis Axel and Ariya Daivari not being brought in full time after a tryout that began just after WrestleMania 38. The producers had been hoping for more help to be brought in due to the amount of work needed in the job but budget cuts have prevented this from happening. As a result, the WWE producers are described as being “extremely overworked”. Opinion: This is one of those things that keeps happening in WWE and it shouldn’t be a surprise when the situation is not going well backstage. It also can’t be ..

WATCH: Former Intercontinental Champion Makes WWE Return In A Different Role

Welcome back. There have been a lot of wrestlers throughout WWE’s history but not all of them have been able to make the biggest impact. While several wrestlers have become famous over the company’s history, there are also some who have become more infamous for one reason or another. Someone who is more in the middle made his return to WWE television this week, albeit in a very different role. This week’s edition of WWE Monday Night Raw featured a brawl between Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes as part of the build towards their match inside Hell In A Cell this Sunday. The brawl featured several referees and producers attempting to hold the two apart, including former Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel. This was the first appearance for Axel on WWE TV since he returned to the company as a producer just after WrestleMania 38. You might be able to see him. Check out the brawl between Rollins and Rhodes: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is one of those cool cameo..

WWE Backstage Producer Seems To Receive A Promotion

It’s an upgrade. There are a lot of people who make a wrestling show work and several of them are not even in the ring. While the wrestlers themselves are the people who put on the matches, there are others who work with them to get everything ready. In WWE, these people are called producers and now another former wrestler has received a promotion backstage. According to Fightful Select, Ariya Daivari worked on his own as a producer at this week’s Main Event taping. Daivari produced the Apollo Crews vs. Akira Tozawa match on his own, marking the first time he has done so. This comes after Daivari and Curtis Axel received tryout as producers in WWE, with Axel working on this week’s SmackDown. There is no word on if the two are now full time producers. Opinion: It is nice to see WWE bringing in some fresh blood to the producers’ ranks, as you are only going to get so far with the same people doing the same matches over and over. Daivari and Axel can offer a fresh perspective on the mat..

That could make for a big night, as we are fresh off a World Title match this week on Rampage. This show is another hour long deal, which tends to mean a focus on in ring actiaon. AEW tends to thrive there so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. TNT Title: Scorpio Sky vs. Sammy Guevara Sky, with the rest of the Men of the Year is defending while Guevara has Tay Conti with him. Guevara gets knocked back to start and Sky hammers away before things reset a bit. They fight over a suplex attempt before Guevara clotheslines him down. Sky slams him on the floor and a mostly missed TKO over the top rope sends them both back outside. We take a break and come back with Sky hitting a pair ..

AEW Rampage Results – April 15, 2022

Rampage Date: April 15, 2022 Location: Curtis Culwell Center, Garland, Texas Commentators: Excalibur, Ricky Starks, Taz It’s a big show this week as AEW has suddenly started turning Rampage into something that matters. That means a World Title match this week, as Hangman Page defends the World Title against Adam Cole in a Texas Death Match. That could mean a possible title change and that means a nice feeling. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Blackpool Combat Club vs. Gunn Club William Regal joins commentary as Austin punches Yuta in the face to start. Yuta ties the legs up and hammers away before putting on a leglock. It’s off to Danielson to tie up the legs and rip at Colton’s face, setting up a surfboard. Everything breaks down and Yuta hits a high crossbody. Danielson adds the running knee to Colton but Billy’s..

REVIEW: Ring Of Honor Supercard Of Honor 2022: Believe The Hype

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Supercard Of Honor XV Date: April 1, 2022 Location: Curtis Culwell Center, Garland, Texas Commentators: Caprice Coleman, Ian Riccaboni Now this is a big one as we have the first new Ring of Honor show in about three and a half months. The catch this time though is that the company has been purchased by AEW President Tony Khan, which means there is likely to be a bigger AEW presence on this show. Most of the card hasn’t been announced, but we are getting the Briscoes vs. FTR, which should be pretty good. Let’s get ..

Welcome Back? Two Former WWE Stars Receive Tryout To Return In A Different Role

They’re familiar with the product. There are a lot of people who make a WWE show work and a lot of them are not going to be seen in person. The wrestlers are the most important players, but those people need some help to put together what you see in the ring. With the right help, they can make almost anything work, and now WWE is looking at bringing in some new help. According to Fightful Select, former WWE stars Curtis Axel and Ariya Daivari were given tryouts as producers this week at SmackDown. Axel worked with TJ Wilson on the Liv Morgan vs. Sasha Banks match while Daivari worked with Chris Park on Drew McIntyre vs. Sami Zayn. Both Axel and Daivari were released from the company within the last two years. This comes after Pat Buck left his role as a producer after WrestleMania 38, leaving a spot available. Opinion: I’m not sure if Axel and Daivari will work well as producers, but it is a good sign to see WWE bringing in some fresh names to try their hand at the job. That is somet..

An Infamous WWE Stable Had A Very Different Original Plan

It isn’t how he drew it up. Stables have been a constant factor in wrestling for a very long time, with some of the most famous names in wrestling history having been a part of one at some point. They are an easy to understand concept and allow multiple wrestlers to get television time at once. There have been some rather memorable ones over the years, but one of them was envisioned very different. Heath Slater appeared on Stories With Brisco And Bradshaw and discussed the origins of 3MB. Slater came up with the idea of putting a stable together with him, originally wanting Johnny Curtis (better known as Fandango), Dean Ambrose and EC3 on the team. After pitching the three names, he was told that WWE already had plans for Ambrose and Curtis and that EC3 wasn’t happening. Three weeks later, Slater was told that Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal would be his band instead, as that is what Vince McMahon wanted. The team debuted on September 21, 2012 until June 12, 2014 when Mahal and McIntyr..

AEW Rampage Results – December 17, 2021

Rampage Date: December 17, 2021 Location: Curtis Culwell Center, Garland, Texas Commentators: Excalibur, Ricky Starks, Taz It’s a very stacked show, as we have three matches with a total of twenty people involved. This week features an eight man tag, a ten man tag and a submission match, which is quite the use of an hour. This show can go in more than a few ways and hopefully they go in a good one this week. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Best Friends/Rocky Romero vs. Superkliq/Bobby Fish Chuck hits a quick standing Sliced Bread for two on Matt to start before it’s quickly off to Fish vs. Romero. Fish gets taken into the corner and Cassidy gets to come in for his slow clotheslines. Cole comes in for the Cassidy showdown but hands it off to Nick without getting physical. Cassidy walks the ropes but stops to put his hand in his pocket and jumps down without doing anything. Nick gets armdragged and hiptossed despite Cassidy’s hands being in his pockets, meaning it’s time for the f..

WWE Once Had Some Different Plans For The Intercontinental TItle

What could have been. Winning a title is one of the most important things that a wrestler can do in their career. It is a symbol that you have arrived and that the promotion you are working for sees something in you. There are a lot of titles floating around WWE these days but picking up some gold still means a lot no matter what it may be. One recently released wrestlers was ready to win something, but then plans changed in a sad way. Dirty Dango, formerly known as Fandango in WWE, was a guest on Insights with Chris Van Vliet and revealed that he was scheduled to win the Intercontinental Title. Dango was scheduled to win the title but was then suffered a concussion during a match with Great Khali. Rather than explaining this to WWE, Dango continued to wrestle and was concussed again during a match with Zack Ryder. WWE then found out that he was injured and pulled him off the road. Dango said he believed Curtis Axel went on to win the title, which took place on June 16, 2013, less tha..

Other than that, we have the Dynamite Diamond match between MJF and Dante Martin, which seems primed for some interference. Odds are we’re getting some debuts tonight as well so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. AEW World Title: Bryan Danielson vs. Hangman Page Danielson is challenging as we’re starting fast. Feeling out process to start with Page not being able to get very far, allowing Danielson to snap off some jumping jacks. Page’s wristlock is broken up with a bunch of flips and Page is frustrated in the corner. Back up and Bryan avoids some chops, allowing more corner jumping jacks. The grappling doesn’t work so well but Page gets in a boot to the chest and NOW Danielson gets more serious. Page isn’t stupid enough to take a h..

The triangle dropkick is cut off with a chair being pelted at the head. Jericho scores with an enziguri but gets belly to belly superplexed back down. S..

Welcome back. The Coronavirus pandemic has been one of the biggest changes that anyone has seen in a very long time. Wrestling has certainly been changed as well, with wrestling promotions not being able to regularly have fans in attendance for over a year. The first three dates have been announced with all shows taking place in Florida or Texas. The three scheduled events will be: * Wednesday, July 7: James L. Details On Why Curtis Axel Was Released

There’s your explanation. I don’t remember the last time things were moving so fast in WWE. You have so many wrestlers moving on and off of the roster and that is the kind of thing that can cause some problems. There were several wrestlers released from the company in a large group, but another was let go later in the month. Now we might have an idea why. Earlier this week, Curtis Axel was released from WWE. This came after the other large group of releases, though it seems to be the only release taking place at the moment. Axel has only wrestled on television once this year, appearing in a short loss to Daniel Bryan on the February 28 SmackDown. That wasn’t exactly the most promising sign for his future and it was more suggestive than we knew. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, part of the reason why Axel was released was due to his age. Axel is forty years old and has not done anything significant in WWE in years. With his lack of success in recent years and age, there..

New Grudge Match Added To Elimination Chamber Card

There’s still time for more. You might have forgotten about it, but we are less than two days away from Elimination Chamber. The show has not exactly had the strongest build in the world, mainly because for a time, it was one of three shows that WWE was building towards at the same time. That hasn’t turned out very well so far, as WWE is still putting the show together at the last minute. Over the last few weeks, Daniel Bryan has been working with some people not quite on his level. This has included Heath Slater and Curtis Axel, but the main person seems to be Drew Gulak. The story has allowed some people to get on television for a change and that is a good thing for them. There needs to be something that comes out of it though, and we will be seeing that on Sunday. This week on SmackDown, Gulak was explaining to Drake Maverick that he knew Bryan’s weaknesses. Bryan came up and challenged Gulak to a match at Elimination Chamber. Later in the night, Gulak accepted the challenge on hi..
