Now that is awesome. Wrestlers are a lot of things at once but for many fans, they are nothing short of heroes. You can find fans who absolutely love the wrestlers they cheer for every week and it can be a special moment if one of them ever gets to meet a star. That was the situation this week in one of the cooler things that you will see in wrestling for a good while. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: She’s Rowdy: Ronda Rousey Injured In Pre-SmackDown Brawl, Possible WrestleMania Implications This week on SmackDown, Rhea Ripley defeated Liv Morgan. Following the match, a Morgan fan was seen crying at ringside. The fan, a nine year old girl, was then brought backstage where she was able to meet Morgan. The two hugged, with Morgan telling her that she couldn’t leave a fan crying out there like that after a match. Morgan also said when the girl turned eighteen, they could become the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. That was great. Check out the meeting, the match and one of Morgan’s best career m..
And NEW! Title changes can mean the world for a championship as it can breathe new life into the title’s status. Occasionally something just needs to be changed and that can make for a big moment. It can be even more impressive when someone special is involved in the titles changing hands. Both things were true this week, as a legend was involved in helping make another legend a champion. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: WWE “Loves” This Superstar Backstage, Possible Future World Champion The main event of this week’s Monday Night Raw saw Lita and Becky Lynch defeat Damage Ctrl to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles. Late in the match, Bayley interfered on Damage Ctrl’s behalf, prompting WWE Hall Of Famer Trish Stratus to run to the ring and help take Bayley out. The win makes the first Women’s Tag Team Title reign for either Lita or Lynch. It was a cool moment. She’s a friend. There have been several teams throughout the years in WWE and some of them develop quite the friendship during their time together. Every so often you will see that friendship continue after the wrestlers leave a promotion, but it is much rarer to see it continue when one star is in a different promotion entirely. That was on display over the weekend. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: On The Mend: Update On Injured AEW Star’s Recovery Status Over the weekend, Mercedes Mone, better known as Sasha Banks during her time in WWE, defeated Kairi to become the new IWGP Women’s Champion. A fan shot video from the match shows Mone’s former partner Bayley in the crowd, helping lead chants for Mone. There was no mention of Bayley being at the show and she was not recognized in any way. Bayley and Mone were the inaugural WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. This was a cool visual. Mutual respect. After Smackdown went off the air this past week, WWE shot and released some footage of Santos Escobar and Rey Mysterio backstage. They showed mutual respect for each other, as well as exchanged Lucha masks. Both Escobar, Mysterio, along with Karrion Kross would come up on the losing end of the battle, while Madcap Moss would pick up the victory. He will face Gunther next week for the championship. Escobar said all he wanted was to take Mysterio’s legacy and make it his and then talked about the respect he has for Mysterio for being “all about lucha.” Both men exchanged masks to show mutual respect. Words matter. There are certain stars in WWE history who are bigger names than others, to the point where they are deemed legends. Those are the people who are going to get attention no matter what they are doing and it can make a big difference to have them around. Most of those appearances are saved for special events, such as the recent Raw XXX. Now we know a detail about what happened on the show. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Take Your Time: NXT Star To Miss TV Time After Violent Attack One of the names who appeared at Raw XXX was the Undertaker, who confronted LA Knight and threw him to Bray Wyatt, who left Knight laying. There is no word on when Undertaker will appear for WWE again. It was a cool moment. Check out the interview, the staredown and Undertaker..
They’re planting seeds. We are less than two months away from WrestleMania 39 and WWE has already started announcing the card. There have been multiple title matches set for the show, but several matches still need to be made official for Los Angeles. Since it is WrestleMania, a lot of these matches have to be planned far in advance. We may be seeing some of that work being done now. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Checking In: The Miz Set To Represent WWE In Rather Cool Event Seth Rollins appeared on the Pat McAfee Show this week (with his appearance beginning at around 1:39:00) and talked about Logan Paul. He also suggested that Paul would not say anything to his face and does his bragging on social media. Paul eliminated Rollins from the Royal Rumble, which led to speculation of a WrestleMania match between the two, but nothing has been made offic..
It’s a side gig. There are a lot of people in WWE and some of them have been around for a very long time. As a result of that longevity, they are often given special responsibilities that can make WWE feel more important. Occasionally this is something that will be seen by a lot of people at the same time and that will be the case again, as a WWE star is crossing over into another sport. It’s part of the job. Despite its problems, WWE is still the biggest and most powerful wrestling promotion in the world. The company is active in several countries, but the majority of its work is done in the United States. It makes sense for the company to want to be associated with some of the biggest sporting events in the country and they tried to do so again this week. They do history well. WWE has been around for a long time and has been the dominant wrestling promotion in the United States for the last twenty plus years. This was such a weird night because I remember it was like 7:55 PM, and we’re going live at eight o’clock. I knock on Vince McMahon’s office, and I go there, and I say, ‘Sir, have you got a minute?’ He looks up from his papers, and he goes, ‘Is it about tonight?’ I said, ‘Yeah, it’s about tonight. It’s about the heel turn.’ He goes, ‘Oh, come in.’ Balor continued, “I just wanted some direction as to, ‘Hey, am I going out there in the suit? In The Judgment Day colors, or am I going out as Finn? Am I going out to music? What way are we doing it?’ He said, ‘Oh, you just go out as Finn and then do the segment.’ I said, ‘Well, oh, okay. That’s cool’. “The..
To the other side. There have been all kinds of wrestlers over the years and a good number of them have wrestled in WWE at some point. The names who have wrestled for WWE are often far better known than most other stars, as WWE is the most viewed promotion in the world. It can mean a little something when one of its former stars goes elsewhere, and that is the case for at least one name. Open the vault. WWE has been around for decades now and during their time, they have acquired several video libraries. It’s famous for a reason. There have been several different eras throughout the history of wrestling and some of those times are better known than others. Some of them are easily identifiable by a single word, with one of the most famous of WWE’s history being “Attitude”. That should help. Wrestlers work very hard in the ring to entertain the fans and put in quite a bit of physical efforts. There is almost no way to guarantee that a wrestler is going to stay completely healthy in any given match, but almost every wrestler has several built up health issues when their career is over. Thankfully there are ways to fix those situations, and now a WWE legend has done just that. That’s special. Wrestlers are on the road for a very long time and spend several nights of their lives wrestling in front of a crowd.
