His Story: Former WWE Star Announces Documentary About His Alcoholism, Homelessness And Recovery

It’s a special story. Wrestlers are larger than life characters and that is what makes fans want to see them every week. You can see them in good and bad moments, but at the end of the day, the stories are made up. Unfortunately there are real life problems that they have to face as well, and now we are going to get to hear a story about one wrestler who had to deal with something very serious. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Two WWE Stars Appear In Separate Super Bowl Commercials Former WWE star Ricardo Rodriguez has announced that he has been filming a documentary about his recovery from alcoholism. Rodriguez announced that he would be entering rehab in May 2020 and in February, announced that he was ten months sober. The documentary will focus on him leaving rehab, being homeless and working at his own wrestling school. The film, titled Wrestling With Recovery, is expected to be released later this year. It doesn't matter how slow you go, so long as you do not stop. #Sobriety ..

WATCH: Two WWE Stars Appear In Separate Super Bowl Commercials

That’s a big stage. While wrestlers are celebrities who are on national television every week, there is a limit to how big most of them are going to become. That can be seen when these stars are rarely involved in any mainstream media appearances. Every so often you see something a little more surprising and now that has happened again, in one of the most prominent places available. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: RUMOR KILLER On Mercedes Mone’s New Japan Payday Two WWE names appeared in Super Bowl commercials this weekend. First, Logan Paul appeared in a commercial for his Prime sports drink. The clip included footage of Paul in WWE, including his frog splash to Miz at Summerslam 2022. Second, Undertaker appeared in a Draftkings ad, featuring a number of other sports celebrities, including Tony Hawk and David Ortiz, among others. Undertaker was in his full gear and acknowledged by his ring name. They were certainly different. Check out the ads, plus WWE’s Super Bowl ad: [This post contains..

Good News: Wrestling Legend’s Health Reportedly Improves After Rough Patch

That’s an improvement. While they are not always credited as such, wrestlers are very talented athletes who regularly get in the ring and put their bodies on the line. There are always going to be risks involved with wrestling and some of the problems do not show up until after a wrestler’s career is over. That is the case with an all time legend, but things might be doing a bit better. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: To The Other Side: WWE Twitter Fans Gush Over Possible Upcoming Heel Turn Earlier this year, reports began to surface that Hulk Hogan was undergoing health issues, mainly related to his back. During a recent edition of his To Be The Man podcast, Ric Flair revealed that he had been in contact with Hogan, whose back is said to be doing much better. Hogan still regularly appears at his Florida beach shops and in commercials for the stores. These are two legends. Check out what the two of them can do on their own and together: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post..

Hangman Adam Page Seriously Injured on AEW Dynamite

You hate to see it. The main event of tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite featured Jon Moxley defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Hangman Adam Page. Unfortunately, the match had to be stopped due to a serious injury suffered by Page during the match. Page landed on his head after a spot in which he took a lariat from Moxley. As soon as Page hit the ground, his body seemed to go limp and he wasn’t able to move. The referee and ringside doctor, Doc Sampson made the decision to stop the match with about 10 minutes remaining on the show. During a commercial break, several officials took down the ropes in order to take out Page on a stretcher. You can see a clip of that below: They are literally taking the ropes down to take hangman Adam page out of the ring on a stretcher. #AEWDynamite pic.twitter.com/9hwcUQSAuK — Marshall Lloyd ? (@Dawgsfaninin) October 19, 2022 Several media outlets are reporting that this was not the planned finish for the match and that this is a le..

WEIRD VIDEO: WWE Airs QR Code During As White Rabbit Mystery Continues

That’s a little spooky. There are a lot of ways to present a wrestler on any given show. Sometimes the best way is to bring them out simply, have them win some matches and go from there. That is the easiest and most common method, but sometimes you need something a bit more complicated. WWE is certainly doing that at the moment and now they are at it again. This week on Monday Night Raw, a QR cord appeared in the background of a backstage segment. Scanning the code brought up a short video of a white rabbit playing a game of Hangman, with the question “Who Killed The World” at the top. The rabbit then makes the words “YOU DID” appear on screen and “9-23” then appears. This comes less than a week after WWE played the song “White Rabbit” during a commercial break on SmackDown. It is not clear what this is referencing. It’s certainly different. Check out what WWE aired: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: I’m not sure what this is but it would seem to be either somethin..

WATCH: WWE Teases….Something During SmackDown Commercial Break

That sounds like a tease. There have been all kinds of returns to WWE in recent weeks and there is still a chance that several more could be taking place. One of the questions is whether a return will be a surprise or something that WWE builds up in advance, as either is possible at any given time. It seems that WWE might have been teasing something on a much smaller scale. During a commercial break this week on SmackDown, the lights in the arena dimmed and the song “White Rabbit” Jefferson Airplane played. The fans in the arena put up their phones ala Bray Wyatt’s fireflies, which according to Inside The Ropes, could have been a hint at a Wyatt return. However, it could also have been a reference to Karrion Kross, who has formerly been known as the White Rabbit. Wyatt was released from WWE in May 2021 but a return has been speculated in recent weeks. It certainly looked cool. Check out what the arena looked like: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This very well co..

REVIEW: Saturday Night’s Main Event #35: Make Me Buy That Show

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Saturday Night’s Main Event #35 Date: August 18, 2007 Location: Madison Square Garden, New York City, New York Attendance: 16,827 Commentators: Michael Cole, John Bradshaw Layfield, Jim Ross It’s time for the annual hour and a half long commercial for Summerslam which makes you want to watch the original run of this series again. This show has nothing advertised outside of an update on who Vince McMahon’s illegitimate child might be. The show doesn’t make a difference anyway but I’m almost worried about what is go..

RUMOR: RAW Said To Be “Really Good” Tonight

This is only a rumor, so take it for what it’s worth. According to a tweet from the WrestleVotes Twitter account, tonight’s episode of raw he said to be looking really good and is a packed show. The tweet further states that the show is looking so good that the USA Network is allowing the 1st hour to be commercial-free if WWE wants. I’m told RAW tonight looks really good as of now, and is a packed show. So much so, USA Network is allowing the 1st hour to be commercial free if WWE wants. — WrestleVotes (@WrestleVotes) August 1, 2022 Tonight will be the first episode of Raw that is completely under the control of Triple H since he took over the role of head of creative. The company is coming off a very successful Summerslam event that had many people in the wrestling community buzzing about the future of WWE. REVIEW: No Way Out 2007: They’re Still Pretending

No Way Out 2007 Date: February 18, 2007 Location: Staples Center, Los Angeles, California Attendance: 14,000 Commentators: Michael Cole, John Bradshaw Layfield It’s that show where WWE pretends that it matters while showing us a commercial for Wrestlemania. The main event is a tag match between the Wrestlemania main events, which should be a quality though unimportant match. Other than that, we are getting a Divas Talent Show, which should be as exciting as it sounds. Let’s get to it. The opening video focuses on..

VIDEO: What You Didn’t Hear From MJF On AEW Dynamite

That’ll get people talking. There are certain wrestlers who are a lot better at talking than anything they can do in the ring. This can make them extremely valuable as they can stir up the fans’ emotions like few others. That is the case with a top AEW star and he certainly went on a rant this week. It turns out that there was even more than what you saw watching on television. This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite featured a promo from Maxwell Jacob Friedman as he ranted and complained about his unhappiness with the company and President Tony Khan. The speech saw parts of Friedman’s speech being censored before his mic was cut off. According to PWInsider.com, during the commercial break, CM Punk came out to confront Friedman, who ran off through the crowd. This was a fired up promo. Check out the uncensored part (contains strong language): [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is the kind of a promo that is going to be a huge deal for a long time to come and I’m cur..

Backstage Confusion In WWE Over Money In The Bank Plans

That might not be what they meant. There are several events that regularly take place on the WWE calendar and some of them are among the most important shows of the year. Some of the shows have a very specific theme to them and that is the case with a show that is coming up sooner rather than later. However, the show’s namesake matches might be a little more confusing this year. Earlier this month, WWE aired a commercial for July’s Money In The Bank event, which suggested that the winners of the show’s namesake matches would receive title shots at WrestleMania 39. The change was not clarified, but the original version of the commercial aired three times during the week. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there is no definitive answer backstage in WWE regarding the ladder matches. Vince McMahon reportedly has plans in mind for the biggest matches at WrestleMania 39 and the Money In The Bank winners are not included. Opinion: I’m still not sure what to expect from the matc..

WATCH: WWE Tries Something Very Different During This Week’s SmackDown

They’re trying something new. Commentary is one of the most important parts of any wrestling show as the broadcast team serves multiple roles. One of the most important is guiding the fans through the show on the road that the promotion wants them to take. That is something that can be difficult to do in the arena, but now WWE is trying something new with the idea. According to videos on Twitter, WWE tried an experience this week on SmackDown which saw commentary airing in the arena during commercial breaks throughout the TV show. Once the commercials ended, the commentary ended and the arena had no sound as usual. There is no word on if this is something that WWE will be regularly doing for shows going forward. This was different. Check out what WWE was trying this week: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is something that could be interesting, though it is more than a bit strange to hear in an arena. After so many ye..

WATCH: Pat McAfee Sings Happy Birthday to Michael Cole

That’s what friends are for. Tonight’s episode of Smackdown emulated from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which Pat McAfee was fired up about. However, he was also excited about getting to do something special and hilarious for his friend and broadcast colleague, Michael Cole. During a commercial break, McAfee got on a table and shared with the crowd how excited he was to be in the great state of Wisconsin. He then proceeded to let everybody know that it was Cole’s birthday and got the whole crowd to serenade him in a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday! You can see the video on McAfee’s Twitter account below: It's an absolute HONOR to be in the GREAT state of Wisconsin #SmackDAHN #SmackDown pic.twitter.com/wjAd7Gfo3p — WrestleMania Pat McAfee (@PatMcAfeeShow) April 9, 2022 The funny thing about this is that it is NOT Cole’s Birthday! According to Wikipedia, Cole was born on December 8, 1968, which makes this even more hilarious. Editor’s Opinion: I absolutely love stuff like this. It..

How WWE Reportedly Changed Plans For A Recent Title Change

That was different. WrestleMania 38 weekend has come and gone and there was a lot taking place in WWE. In addition to the namesake WrestleMania pay per view, there was also a stand alone NXT event, plus Monday Night Raw. While these two shows rarely have anything in common, that was the case this week, and now we know something more about how fast things changed. On Saturday, Dolph Ziggler retained the NXT Title over Bron Breakker at Stand & Deliver. Two days later, Breakker took the title from Ziggler in a match not announced until the night of the show. According to Wrestling Observer Live, the original plans called for Ziggler to hold the title for “awhile”, with a commercial airing during Monday Night Raw advertising Ziggler as champion. While not confirmed, the theory was that Breakker was to be called up to the main roster but then WWE changed their minds. Opinion: This is the kind of thing that WWE tends to do time after time, which doesn’t exactly make things that much better..

WrestleMania 38 Night One Preview, Predictions And Thoughts

In the words of new WWE Hall of Famer Vader, it’s time. It is time for Wrestlemania XXXVIII and that means the card has finally (and I do mean finally) been set. We now know what to expect on each night and the card is…well it certainly exists. There are some interesting matches on both nights, though I’m not sure what to expect from the show. That can make it fun though so let’s get to it. Smackdown Tag Team Titles: Usos(c) vs. Rick Boogs/Shinsuke Nakamura Since the New Day is busy, the Usos actually need someone else to fight for once. That opens the door for Boogs and Nakamura, who at least seem like a team. How can you not be ready for a title match after doing Toyota commercials together? This should be good enough as Nakamura knows how to work well with anyone and Boogs is basically an ox with a guitar. I’ll go with new champions here, on the grounds of “well, someone has to beat the Usos.” They feel like they have held the titles forever, so let the new team get the belts off..

Update On Injured NXT Star After Scary Moment

That could have been worse. Injuries are one of the worst things that can happen to a wrestler as their careers can be knocked off course in the blink of an eye. Some of them are built up over time while others happen all at once. What makes matters worse is you might not know how long someone is going to be out or just how bad it is. That was the case again this week but now we know a bit more about what happened. Amari Miller was defeated by Lash Legend during this week’s NXT. Following the match, Miller was stretchered out of the arena during a commercial break in a moment that was not mentioned on the broadcast. Miller has since sent out a tweet, announcing that she suffered a concussion during the match. There is no word on when the injury took place or how long she will be out of action. Opinion: As bad as a concussion is, this could have been worse and thankfully it is nothing more serious. What matters now is getting Miller back in the ring, which could take some time as conc..

NXT Star Stretchered Out Of Arena After Match

That is never good to see. Wrestling is a rather dangerous sport as there is always the possibility of an injury. Someone can get hurt at any time and it could put them on the shelf for a very long time. The only thing that can be done after that is hope that things are not going to be too bad and unfortunately that is the case again, as a wrestler seems to have a bad injury. This week’s NXT featured Lash Legend defeating Amari Miller in a match. According to PWInsider.com, Miller was stretchered out during a commercial after the match and was checked by WWE medical. This was not shown or acknowledged on the broadcast. There is no word on what happened to her or how severe her injury may be. Miller has wrestled for NXT since June 2021 and has appeared on both NXT and 205 Live over the last several months. Opinion: Hopefully Miller is ok, as it is not clear what happened or how bad things might be. It is too early to say that Legend caused the issue as this could have been something t..

Monday Night Raw Live Coverage And Results – February 14, 2022

Monday Night Raw Date: February 14, 2022 Location: Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Indianapolis, Indiana Commentators: Jimmy Smith Corey Graves, Byron Saxton It’s the go home show for Elimination Chamber and that means it’s time for a lot of talking about the matches that have already been made for Saturday’s show. It also means that we are in for another limited commercial show, because if there is one thing WWE needs, it is more content. Let’s get to it. The opening video now has a voiceover saying “FOREVER. TOGETHER.” Here is Bobby Lashley with MVP to get things going. Lashley talks about having *to go through the Elimination Chamber to get to WrestleMania as WWE Champion. The Chamber has shortened careers and impacted lives….but so has he. MVP says there is 16% chance of Lashley retaining the title, but when you add in the Almighty Quotient, it is about 100%. Cue Seth Rollins to interrupt, saying that Lashley looks great, but not as great as he does. Rollins talks about how Lashley is c..

VIDEO: WWE Airs WrestleMania Commercial During The Super Bowl (Two Versions)

That’s some big exposure. WWE is in the middle of its biggest season of the year as we are on the Road To WrestleMania 38. With less than two months to go before WrestleMania, WWE is going to want all of the attention that it can get for the show. That is easier said than done, but WWE certainly has the money to make it a possibility. They did just that this weekend on the biggest television night of the year. WWE aired a commercial during Super Bowl LVI on Sunday night, featuring Pat McAfee using various adjectives to describe what WrestleMania will be. The advertisement promotes both Monday Night Raw and WrestleMania, which will air on the USA Network and Peacock. Those platforms are both owned by NBC Universal, which is the home of the Super Bowl. WrestleMania 38 airs on April 2 and 3. It was a pretty cool night. Check out this year’s commercial (both versions), plus the WWE’s most famous Super Bowl ad: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click ..

Monday Night Raw Live Coverage And Results – February 7, 2022

Monday Night Raw Date: February 7, 2022 Location: Ball Arena, Denver, Colorado Commentators: Jim Smith, Byron Saxton, Corey Graves We have less than two weeks to go before Elimination Chamber and a lot of the big matches are set. Since this is Raw, we have two Elimination Chamber matches set up, plus Becky Lynch vs. Lita, as Smackdown doesn’t seem all that important this month. Tonight is a special show since we are on SyFy due to the Winter Olympics, so we have NO COMMERCIALS in the first hour. I’m thrilled too. Let’s get to it. We open big with the final round of the Academic Challenge between RKBro and the Alpha Academy. This time around, it’s a Quiz Bowl competition and after looking at the spelling bee/scooter race being split, we’re ready to go. Chad Gable explains the rules: it’s one point per question and if you get it wrong, the other team gets to steal. One point per answer, first to give points wins. Alpha Academy gets the history question (who was the first President wit..
