Another one for the history books. This past Sunday at NXT Deadline, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods captured the NXT tag team championships by defeating Pretty Deadly. While this was a great moment for The New Day, this championship victory was also historic in a number of ways. It might be a movie, a song or something else, but it is all anyone is talking about for a long time. WWE Tag Team Reunion Nearly Took Place Before Release
What could have been. Earlier this month, WWE released nine wrestlers from their contracts, which offered quite the shakeup to the company’s roster. These releases came fairy out of nowhere though and that means there were chances for something else to happen. Now those plans will not be realized, but we do know what one of them might have been. According to Fightful Select, prior to his release from the company, WWE was considering reuniting Wesley Blake with his NXT tag team partner Buddy Murphy. The two had been meeting with WWE creative to come up with a way to reintroduce them to WWE programming but nothing ever took place. The idea came about after Blake’s other partner, Steve Cutler, was released from the company in January. Blake and Murphy appeared together in NXT, where they were managed by Alexa Bliss.
