She’s In: Former WWE And Impact Wrestling Star Makes Surprise AEW Debut

She’s in. There are a lot of talented wrestlers in the world today and several of them are able to be seen on national television on a regular basis. It can mean a lot for someone to get their chance on a bigger stage and occasionally that is exactly what you get to see. It was the case again this week, as a former WWE star made their official AEW debut with a target already in sight. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WATCH: Rey Mysterio Wrestles On Late Late Show This week’s edition of AEW Dynamite was held in Canada, with TBS Champion Jade Cargill issuing an open challenge to any Canadian. Cargill retained her title over Nicole Matthews in less than a minute, but after the match Taya Valkyrie debuted and attacked Cargill’s associate Leila Grey. Valkyrie is a former NXT star, where she wrestled under the name Frankie Monet, as well as a former Knockouts Champion. AEW President Tony Khan has since announced that Valkyrie is All Elite, suggesting she has signed with the company. Welcome to AEW,..

Monday Night Raw Results – February 20, 2023

Monday Night Raw Date: February 20, 2023 Location: Canadian Tire Center, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Commentators: Kevin Patrick, Corey Graves We’re done with Elimination Chamber and that means it is time to get ready for Wrestlemania. The big story is that Roman Reigns retained the World Title over Sami Zayn, who seems promised to rejoin forces with Kevin Owens to fight the Bloodline. We might see the start of that tonight so let’s get to it. We open with a long recap of Sami Zayn vs. Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber, with Zayn coming up short and Kevin Owens saving him after the match. Here is Sami Zayn to get things going and he looks to be a wreck. He talks about how everything has been going on for the last few days and the response he has gotten from the fans means more than they could know. After pausing to soak in a few more cheers, Sami talks about feeling guilty for letting people down by not getting the big win. What he understands though is that the story is not over, but..

AEW Dynamite Results – December 7, 2022

Dynamite Date: December 7, 2022 Location: H-E-B Center, Cedar Park, Texas Commentators: Tony Schiavone, Taz, Excalibur It’s the go home show for Final Battle and the Dynamite before next week’s Winter Is Coming so it is time to start hammering home the build for both shows. Believe it or not we have a battle royal this week for a shot at MJF’s….ring, rather than the World Title. That should get a lot of people on the show so let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Battle Royal Ricky Starks, Brian Cage, Jungle Boy, Orange Cassidy, Shawn Dean, Dustin Rhodes, Lee Moriarty, Ethan Page, Matt Hardy, Kip Sabian, Dalton Castle, Butcher, Blade The winner gets to face MJF for the Dynamite Diamond whenever they decide. Sabian and Cassidy take turns ramming each other into the corner until the Butcher breaks it up. Cassidy is sent over the top so he tries to skin the cat, only to have Blade knock him out. Rhodes (hometown boy) hits a Canadian Destroyer on Sabian and clotheslines him out. Butcher c..

AEW Star Makes Surprise Return After Four Month Absence

Welcome home. There are a lot of ways to bring a wrestler back after time away from the company and one of the best is as a surprise partner. That is something that can do well on its own but there are ways to sweeten it even more. Bringing someone back in the right place can make it even better and that is what took place this week to some very positive result. This week, AEW made its Canadian debut with a show in Toronto. During the show, the Embassy challenged FTR to a match later in the week on Rampage, with FTR bringing out Toronto’s Shawn Spears to be their partner. Spears has not wrestled since May 25 after being injured. There is no word on if this is a full on babyface turn for Spears or just a one off due to being in his hometown. Opinion: This was a well done setup and the place did go nuts for Spears’ TEN entrance. That is the kind of thing that had some thought put into it and I’m curious to see what happens when Spears is given a chance to shine in a different way. It m..

Long Term: WWE May Have Some Plans For Liv Morgan’s Title Reign

They have a plan for that. Last weekend’s Money In The Bank event was a rather eventful night for WWE. Not only did the company have the show’s two namesake matches, but Miss Money In The Bank Liv Morgan cashed in her briefcase to become the new SmackDown Women’s Champion. That was a huge jump up for Morgan and it seems that WWE might have something in mind for her. The Canadian Tire Center in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada is hosting a WWE live event on August 20. The advertisment for the event includes Morgan defending the SmackDown Women’s Title against both Natalya and Ronda Rousey. While the card is subject to change, this show takes place after Summerslam on July 30, suggesting that Morgan could be holding the title beyond the next major event. Morgan cashed in her briefcase on Rousey, following a successful titel defense against Natalya. UPDATED CARD: Newly crowned @WWE SmackDown Women's Champion @YaOnlyLivvOnce will take part in a Triple Threat Match against @RondaRousey and @N..

REVIEW: ECCW Ballroom Brawl 12: Oh, Canada

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Ballroom Brawl 12 Date: July 13, 2019 Location: Commodore Ballroom, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Commentators: Peter Brown, Cody Von Wilson This is Elite Canadian Championship Wrestling (ECCW), another promotion that I have heard a lot about but never actually seen. Again, thanks to the magic of Highspots, I get to knock another indy promotion off of my list and see what I can find out there. The card isn’t exactly big but there are some interesting names. Let’s get to it. Keep in mind that as usual, I don’..

Monday Night Raw Live Coverage And Results – March 14, 2022

Monday Night Raw Date: March 14, 2022 Location: VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena, Jacksonville, Florida Commentators: Corey Graves, Jimmy Smith, Byron Saxton We have less than three weeks to go before Wrestlemania and WWE still has a lot of work to do before the show. The big story coming out of last week was Kevin Owens challenging Steve Austin to meet him at Wrestlemania, with Austin accepting the next day. Other than that, it’s time to hear about how wrestlers have no path to the show. Let’s get to it. In Memory Of Scott Hall. We open with a look at Kevin Owens’ challenge and Austin accepting. Here is Kevin Owens, who opens with a Hey Yo. He is the happiest Canadian right now because he is going to the main event of Wrestlemania Saturday night. Owens used his superior Canadian intellect to get what he wanted. This draws a USA chant, with Owens saying that everyone, including the USA, will get to see Owens take Austin out. The only can that will be opened is a can of Canadian beer ..

He has a history with football; from 1990 to 1994, he played for the University of Miami Hurricanes. Although he would be a part of the national championship team in 1991, Johnson would appear in a backup role, starting only one game in four years. After Johnson graduated in 1995, he signed with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League as a linebacker. He was assigned to the practice roster but was cut tw..

REVIEW – Royal Rumble 2021: The Canadian Way

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Royal Rumble 2021 Date: January 31, 2021 Location: Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg, Florida Commentators: Michael Cole, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton, Samoa Joe, Tom Phillips It’s officially the Road To Wrestlemania and that should only be a good thing. The other major positive this year is how wide open both Rumbles could be, which means we could be in for a lot of drama. Other than that though, it is going to be a bit sad to watch the Rumble with no crowd. Let’s get to it. Kickoff Show: Women’s Tag Team Titles: As..

REVIEW: In Your House: Canadian Stampede: Oh….Canada

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over ten years now and have reviewed over 5,000 shows. In Your House #16: Canadian Stampede Date: July 6, 1997 Location: Saddledome, Calgary, Alberta, Canada Attendance: 12,151 Commentators: Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler, Vince McMahon This is a show I’ve been waiting to get to for a very long time. Canadian Stampede is considered one of the best shows of all time and ran away with the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Award for show of the year. There are only four matches on the card, but even with so few matches the card is nothing short of stacked. Let’s get to it. The opening..

WWE Interested In Signing International Star

Bring him in. Wrestling is one of the truly international sports as several countries have not only their own wrestlers, but also their own version of wrestling. That can make for some interesting combinations, as you can see wrestlers from one country coming into another and get quite the result. That might be the case again as WWE is interested in an international star. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is interested in signing Speedball Mike Bailey to the company. Bailey is a Canadian wrestler who has mainly wrestled in Canada and Europe for the last several years due to visa issues in America. Should WWE sign him, they would work on resolving those issues so that he could could wrestle in the United States. Back in 2016, Bailey came into the United States and worked a show for Evolve Wrestling without having a work visa in the country. As a result, he was banned from entering the United States for five years, with the ban recently expiring. Bailey has also wrest..

Chelsea Green May Have A Serious Problem

That’s a problem. The WWE releases from earlier this month changed a lot of things in the company but it changed even more for the wrestlers involved. Losing your job is one thing but it can mean a lot more to some of the people. Some of them are going to be hurt by this a little bit more than others, and in one case it could cause quite the difficult situation in the short and long terms. In a new interview with Chris Van Vliet, former WWE wrestler Chelsea Green revealed that her release may cause her to have to leave the United States. Green is Canadian and needs either a visa or a green card to stay in the country. Another option is to get married to an American citizen and Green is engaged to Matt Cardona, formerly known as Zack Ryder in WWE. This should seem to be easy, but it is still not quite that simple. Green and Cardona are engaged but Green wants her family to come in from Canada for the wedding ceremony. However, the travel restrictions brought on by the Coronavirus pand..

WATCH: Edge Pays Touching Tribute To Brodie Lee

That’s sweet. Back in December, the wrestling world was shaken up in a pretty horrible way as AEW star Brodie Lee suddenly passed away due to issues with his lungs. Lee’s passing came out of nowhere and left everyone pausing for a few days. AEW’s tribute to him was one of the best things any wrestling promotion has put together in a very long time. That does not mean the tributes are over though and we saw another one this weekend. Wrestling is an international sport and there have been incredibly talented wrestlers from all over the world. While the majority of the wrestlers you see on American television are from America, you will see several other countries represented as well. One of the more prominently features in the wrestling world is Canada, and one of the bigger Canadian stars of all time paid a tribute to Lee over a special bond. This is just great. Check out Edge’s big appearance (and notice the shirt): [This post contains video, click to play] Edge appeared on Saturday..

Impact Wrestling Live Coverage And Results – July 19, 2018

Impact Wrestling Date: July 19, 2018 Location: St. Clair College, Windsor, Ontario, Canada Commentators: Josh Matthews, Don Callis It’s the go home show for Slammiversary and for once I’m actually interested in where we’re going. The build for the show has been rather good so far and that could make for a solid pay per view. They can still hammer in a few more things tonight but really, Sunday is all that matters at this point. Let’s get to it. We open with a rapid fire recap of the big stories. Petey Williams vs. Killer Kross The Canadian fans are behind Petey, who gets driven into the corner early on. Petey tries to strike away but gets tossed with a t-bone suplex as Kross laughs. Another t-bone drops Williams but he avoids a charge to send Kross shoulder first into the post. A Codebreaker and a tornado DDT have Kross rocked so he comes right back with a hard Saito suplex. The Krossjacket (a choke) has Petey in trouble but Kross lets him go. Kross bends over and puts Petey in pos..

Predicting the Next Three United States Champions

<p>AJ Styles just defeated Kevin Owens to become a two-time WWE United States Champion. With Styles looking to begin an open challenge, he will have many fresh challengers. One of these challengers will eventually dethrone Styles. Someone will dethrone the one who dethroned Styles. So on and so forth.</p><p>Who will be the next person to hold United States gold? Who will become a champion soon? Only time will tell, but here are some bold predictions. Who will become a United States champion before 2017 ends?</p><h4>3. Kevin Owens</h4><p></p><p>Styles is supposed to defend his championship next week on Smackdown. Given WWE’s recent fascination with nonsensical booking decisions, expect Owens to regain the title and become a four-time US Champion.</p><p>The match, if it’s anything like their last few matches, will be a mostly okay match. It will be good for a TV match. Eventually, though, some weird booking decision will work in Kevin Owens’ favor. Maybe the referee won’t see a weapon shot, or won’t see a rope break. Maybe Kevin Owens will pick up the whole announce table and hit AJ with it and the referee won’t know if he should disqualify Owens. At the end of a hard-fought match, though, Owens will walk away with the gold.</p><p>The next week, he’ll cut a promo saying he’s hosting an open challenge. Styles will answer, and Owens will deny him. Either Daniel Bryan or Shane McMahon will book  the match for the following week, because ratings or something. Whatever. Styles will get his rematch.</p><p>What will happen after Styles gets his rematch? It’s easy.</p><h4>2. AJ Styles</h4><p></p><p>At the rematch, AJ Styles will channel the strength of his home state of Georgia. With the weight of 10 million people squarely on his shoulders, Styles will vanquish that dastardly Canadian Kevin Owens and become a three-time United States champion. Ideally, the match would be a no holds barred street fight. The Atlanta Falcons will all be at ringside (despite the show being held in Providence, Rhode Island), and they’ll all attack Kevin Owens. Then the Montreal Canadiens will show up and attack the Falcons. Styles will then perform a Styles Clash to Kevin Owens off the top rope, outside the ring, and onto both teams, who are conveniently brawling near the turnbuckle. Amidst all the strewn bodies at ringside, Styles will roll Owens’ lifeless body into the ring and get the three-count.</p><p>Next week, AJ will announce that he’s holding an Open Challenge. John Cena will answer, because reasons. Kevin Owens will also appear, along with Jinder Mahal. They’ll have a tag team match, and Owens will face Styles at Summerslam for the United States Championship.</p><p>What happens at Summerslam? I think you know.</p><h4>1. Kevin Owens</h4><p></p><p>At Summerslam, Kevin Owens will defeat AJ Styles in a 60-minute 6-pack Iron Man Elimination match that will also feature <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/sami-zayn" title="Sami Zayn">Sami Zayn</a></strong>, <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/tye-dillinger" title="Tye Dillinger">Tye Dillinger</a></strong>, <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/aiden-english" title="Aiden English">Aiden English</a></strong>, and Mike Kannelis. Owens will eliminate Styles by fighting with the weight of 35 million people on his shoulders. Styles will be fighting with the weight of 323 million people on his shoulders, but since his burden is heavier, Owens capitalizes on that and wins.</p><p>Owens will once again proclaim that he will be hosting an open challenge. Styles will demand a match, but Owens will deny him, saying he’s fought him too many times. Styles moves to the back of the line, and Kevin Owens faces new challengers.</p><p>Kevin Owens will then hold on to the United States Championship for the rest of his career. He’ll retire 10 years later, still the United States champion. At his last ever match, it will be for the championship. The match will end in a DQ, and Owens gets to retire with the title, forever the New Face of America.</p>

Former WWE Superstar Evan Bourne Claims He’s the Best Cruiserweight In The Business

<p>While speaking to Chris Van Vilet, former WWE Supestar Evan Bourne commented on his position within the cruiserweights and claimed that he was the best out there. Here is what he said:</p><p><em>“I’m the best Crusierweight, X Division, Junior Heavyweight wrestler whatever you want to call it. The way that everybody tries to put their matches on, they’re basically just trying to do what I do. It’s as simple as that. I was just lucky to be there ahead of the curve to be the driving force behind bringing this amazing style of wrestling from Japan that combined <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/lucha/" title="Lucha">Lucha</a></strong> <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/libre/" title="Libre">Libre</a></strong>, American professional wrestling, Canadian professional wrestling and Japanese wrestling all into one beautiful mix that fans worldwide absolutely can’t get enough of.”</em></p><p>You can check out footage of him making those remarks in the <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/video/" title="video">video</a></strong> below:</p>

Jinder Mahal Says Dream Match Would Be Against Brock Lesnar

<p>Jinder <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/mahal/" title="Mahal">Mahal</a></strong> recently spoke with <a href="https://www.sportskeeda.com/wwe/interview-jinder-mahal-draws-parallels-bret-hart-speaks-about-indian-heritage-challenges-in-wwe-dream-opponent" rel="nofollow" target="new">nishant.jayaram of sportskeeda.com</a> for an interview. Here are some highlights:</p><p><strong>WWE’s Plans to Expand The India Market</strong>: Yes, definitely, WWE is looking to expand in India. It already has a huge presence in India. So I believe, alongside other Indian Superstars like the Singh Brothers, <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/akam" title="Akam">Akam</a></strong> in NXT, Lovepreet (Kishan Raftar), I think the more Indian wrestlers come, the bigger the Indian audience becomes, the bigger the WWE Universe in India becomes, which I think would be a great thing because our Indian fans are very passionate.I would love to do more live shows in India – because I know the last two shows in Delhi last year were a huge success, they were both sold out. I would love to see WWE all across India, in Punjab, Mumbai and Delhi.</p><p><strong>How US Fans Treat Him</strong>: Actually, it’s a very unique dynamic because the American fans boo me – and sometimes in my promos, I say that America doesn’t accept diversity, which is all character stuff. But I like this unique dynamic of how Indians really like me, even American Indian fans like me. In shows here in the USA, a lot of the crowd has Indian fans who are cheering for me, but the American fans are booing for me.I think it’s very unique. It reminds me of the time of Bret Hart, who was a huge and successful star in Canada – Canadian fans would cheer him, but when he was wrestling in the USA, they would (fans) boo him out of the building. I think it is a very similar situation.</p><p><strong>New Finishing Move The Khallas</strong>: To be a WWE Superstar you’ve to constantly be evolving and improving. I study a lot of tapes, I watch a lot of old wrestling matches and see moves that work and moves that don’t work. I watch guys that are similar to my size, frame and body shape and the moves they do. Because it’s pointless for me to watch high-flying moves or guys that weigh 300+ pound power moves. I’m a unique blend of speed, size and light – I’m only 230 pounds but I’m very strong. I watch guys who are similar to my body type and see what kind of moves they do, and see what works and doesn’t, and based of that I try new stuff on live events. So, if they’re not successful I can scrap it and take it out of my repertoire.</p><p><strong>The Success of 3MB</strong>: We’re proof – me, Heath and Drew (former members of 3MB) – are proof that anything is possible, it doesn’t matter where you are on the card. You could be the opening match, it is possible to get to the top of the card, through hard work. WWE is great, it gives people opportunities who deserve opportunities, Vince rewards hard work, WWE rewards hard work, so it motivates the rest of the locker room – they’ve seen me go from the bottom of the card to the top.</p><p><strong>Dream Opponent</strong>: I think my dream opponent is <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/brock-lesnar" title="Brock Lesnar">Brock Lesnar</a></strong>. Imagine that match – Champion vs Champion, WWE Champion vs Universal Champion. He is my dream opponent because if I can knock off Brock Lesnar that would truly solidify me… I’m the best and let the world know that the WWE Champion is better than Universal Champion.</p>
