Lana Explains Why Vince McMahon Dropped Rusev Day Storyline

At least he had a reason. The biggest wrestling story of the year has been the departure of Vince McMahon from WWE. After nearly four decades of McMahon in charge of the company, he has finally stepped down and handed the reins off to someone else. That has caused quite a few changes and now we have a better idea about one of McMahon’s less well received decisions. CJ Perry, formerly known as Lana in WWE, recently appeared on In The Kliq to talk about some of her time in WWE. Perry mentioned the Rusev Day story, which took place in 2017-18 and saw Rusev become one of the more popular stars in WWE, though he never officially turned good. According to Perry, McMahon never allowed the full turn because he saw Rusev as his “Bulgarian Brute 300 pound crazy villain” and did not want to change his vision. Rusev was released from WWE in April 2020 and debuted in AEW five months later. Opinion: I can see McMahon’s thinking here, but ultimately you need to take a chance at some point. WWE spen..

Miro Day In AEW: What Happens Next?

Miro’s arrival in AEW, while surprising, was not wholly unexpected. The former Rusev made his debut on the September 9 edition of Dynamite, where he was revealed as the best man for Kip Sabian’s upcoming wedding with Penelope Ford. Since his departure from WWE, Miro’s pro wrestling fate was the topic of heavy speculation among fans, many of whom predicted his imminent signing with Tony Khan’s company. Miro’s presence in an AEW ring was very surreal for many who watched Dynamite. But he was in great shape and he had a big smile on his face. This was not the same man who last stood in a WWE ring and was following the law of the land in Vince McMahon’s company. For many Superstars, their creative direction is stifled and they typically have very little input. That situation inevitably leads to frustration and ultimately, to separation...

No more 'Rusev Day'? This past Tuesday on SmackDown Live a day after officially announcing her retirement from in-ring competition, former two-time WWE Divas Champion Paige was revealed as the new GM of the blue-brand. The former GM Daniel Bryan has returned to his role as a full-time competitor now that he is cleared. Paige's first move as GM came in the form of putting together a fantasy match between AJ Styles & Daniel Bryan for that edition of SmackDown Live. Before making the announcement Paige asked the fans inside of the Smoothie King Center who would they like to see Daniel Bryan go one-on-one with in his first match back on SmackDown and the arena erupted in 'Rusev Day' chants. In the midst of Rusev being involved in many of headlines as of late, the chant was edited out from WWE's YouTube clip above. "The Bulgarian Brute" was recently interviewed by TMZ Sports where he stated that he would "crush The Undertaker" at the 'Greatest Royal Ru..
