AEW Dynamite Results – February 8, 2023

Dynamite Date: February 8, 2023 Location: County Coliseum, El Paso, Texas Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Taz It’s a title themed show this week as we have two title matches plus a pair of eliminator matches. That should be enough to make for a good night as AEW tends to treat its titles seriously. The build towards Revolution continues and we should be getting some more added to the card. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Maxwell Jacob Friedman vs. Konosuke Takeshita Non-title. MJF’s offer of a handshake is brushed off to start so Takeshita hammers down some right hands in the corner. A knee is blocked and MJF sends him into the corner to take over. We hit the armbar, followed by a hammerlock DDT for two on Takeshita. Back up and Takeshita hits a quick brainbuster for two and a frog splash gets the same. Takeshita traps the legs and hits a Tombstone, followed by a wheelbarrow suplex to send MJF outside. MJF gets in a shot of his own and takes it back inside, with Takeshi..

Injured WWE Star Returns To Action After Four Month Absence

Welcome back. Injuries are one of the worst things that can happen to any wrestler. No matter who you are or how long you have been around, an injury can take you out at any time, even through no fault of your own. Aside from your health, the question becomes how long you are going to be on the shelf. Now we have an answer to that, as a long injured WWE star is back in the ring. Monday Night Raw’s Rhea Ripley returned to action this weekend at a WWE live event in Sioux City, Iowa. Ripley teamed with Damian Priest in a losing effort against the team of Dolph Ziggler and Nikki Ash. This was Ripley’s first match in over four months as she had suffered a brain injury, which kept her from challenging Bianca Belair for the Raw Women’s Title at Money In The Bank. RHEA RIPLEY ?@RheaRipley_WWE #wwesiouxcity pic.twitter.com/WOIjTrzPag — WefLucha (@WefLucha) October 16, 2022 Opinion: It’s great to have Ripley back as you never want someone to be out of action for any length of time. Ripley is..

Good News On Injury Status Of WWE Star

That could have been worse. There are a lot of ways a wrestler can get hurt and put on the injured list as a result. It is something that you never want to see, but the question becomes just how long the person is going to be out of action. The amount can range drastically based on the kind of injury, but this time around a pair of them might not be so serious. Earlier this week, Rhea Ripley announced that she was suffering from both teeth and brain injuries, which will keep her out of action for the time being. This includes preventing her from being able to challenge Rhea Ripley for the Raw Women’s Title at Money in the Bank next month. However, according to Wrestling Observer Radio, Ripley is not expected to be out long term. While she will miss Money in the Bank, she is expected to be back fairly soon. Opinion: That could be worse as you never want to see someone out of action for a long time, or at all really. Ripley is someone who feels like she could be one of the next breakou..

Rhea Ripley Reveals She Is Dealing With Multiple Health Issues

That’s an explanation. Wrestling is a physical sport and that means there is always the chance that someone can get hurt. There have been a lot of injuries over the years and some of them are more than a bit strange. That is kind of the case this time again, though in this case the wrestler has a pair of injuries, with one of them sounding a bit more serious than the other. Earlier this week on Monday Night Raw, Bianca Belair announced that Rhea Ripley was not medically cleared to wrestle at Money in the Bank, meaning their Raw Women’s Title match was off. Ripley has since revealed via her Instagram by way of Wrestlinginc.com that she is suffering from both brain and teeth injuries. There is no word on what specifically is wrong or how long Ripley will be out. Carmella earned the right to challenge Belair instead. Opinion: Both of these are serious issues and hopefully Ripley is back sooner rather than later. Either of them could be an issue that could keep Ripley on the shelf for a ..

WATCH: Police Officers Draw Weapons On Jeff Hardy During Arrest

That’s a rough one to watch. While he is certainly a very talented wrestler, Jeff Hardy also has some issues outside the ring. Unfortunately some of these are legal issues which have caused him several problems over the years. The problems have flared up again this week, and now we can see just how bad things got, even in a situation that was already bad in the first place. Earlier this week, Hardy was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and other issues. Since then, TMZ have released the dashboard video from the police car, showing three police officers pulling their guns on Hardy for not obeying their orders to exit his car. The officers then remove Hardy from the car and have him sit down, where they interview him about his driving. Hardy said that he was on his way to the doctor for a “brain scan”, which he could not explain. The video ends with Hardy undergoing field sobriety tests and being handcuffed. Hardy has since been suspended from AEW as a result of the arr..

Omos Reveals His One Of A Kind Medical Issues

That sounds worse. Wrestlers are larger than life characters with personalities that are often over the top and meant to be as big as possible. That can often come with bodies that are literally larger than most, as you see some wrestlers who dwarf most normal people. However, those wrestlers have their own issues, and now one of the biggest wrestlers ever has revealed some previous problems. During a recent appearance on the Out Of Character podcast, Monday Night Raw star Omos revealed that he had a brain tumor removed when he was 18 years old. Omos was playing college basketball at the time when an MRI revealed the tumor. As he was getting ready to have the tumor removed, he was diagnosed with partial Cushing’s Disease. Omos said that he was the first person ever recorded with a tumor on his pituitary gland, a brain tumor and Cushing’s Disease, which resulted in a medical journal article about his case. Opinion: What matters most is that Omos seems to have these issues cleaned up a..

AEW Star Out Of Action Due To A Concussion

That’s never good to hear. There are all kinds of possible injuries in wrestling and you never want to see someone put on the shelf. Some of them can take longer to overcome than others, as some do not have the easiest path to recovery. Unfortunately that can be the case with a lot of brain related injuries and that is the case with one wrestler who is still in recovery. According to Wrestlinginc.com, AEW’s Brian Pillman Jr. suffered a concussion during his tag team match with Griff Garrison against the Kings of the Black Throne this week on Dynamite. As a result, Pillman was forced to miss this weekend’s Warrior Wrestling event, with the promotion announcing Danny Bang as his replacement. There is no word on when Pillman will be cleared to return to the ring. Unfortunately, Brian Pillman Jr. is not medically cleared to compete tomorrow night in South Bend, so Chicago's hottest new rising star, the sensation of the Logan Square Auditorium…. DAVEY BANG steps up to challenge SILA..

AEW Dynamite Live Coverage And Results – November 3, 2021

Dynamite Date: November 3, 2021 Location: Cable Dahmer Arena, Independence, Missouri Commentators: Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone, Excalibur We are less than three weeks away from Full Gear and things have been shaken up a bit. Jon Moxley, who was in the semifinals of the #1 contenders tournament, has decided to go to rehab for alcohol issues, which leaves a big hole in the brackets. We should get a replacement tonight though and that could be interesting. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Kenny Omega vs. Alan Angels Non-title and commentary brings up Moxley’s issues during Omega’s entrance. Angels goes right after him to start but Omega knocks him back, including some chops. A few shots knock Omega into the corner but he’s back with the Kitaro Crusher. Omega hits a running face shots to take Angels down (think a bulldog but from the front) and the brainbuster onto the knee knocks Angels silly. The V Trigger misses though and Angels grabs a rollup for two. There’s a suicide dive to send..

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has hired Allison Danger as a new coach at the Performance Center. Danger is a retired wrestler who spent the majority of her career on the independent circuit, including spending several years in Shimmer. He’ll Probably Be Gold: WWE Makes Huge Signing

He has the resume. WWE has a lot of wrestlers on its roster and brings them in from all over the place. While there is often an an emphasis on prior professional wrestling experience, it is not exactly a requirement. The company also has a tendency to sign athletes from other sports, but in this case it seems that they have gone with a little bit of both. According to F4WOnline.com, Olympic gold medal winning wrestler Gable Steveson has signed a contract with WWE. This comes as Steveson sent out a tweet saying he had just put pen to paper. Steveson had said that he wanted to sign with WWE and made an appearance at this year’s Summerslam. WWE has yet to make an announcement about the signing. Steveson will be in elite company. Check out how Olympians have done in WWE: [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: This is about as much of a no brainer as you can get. Main Event Date: August 19, 2021 Location: AT&T Center, San Antonio, Texas Commentators: Kevin Patrick, Byron Saxton It’s the go home show for Summerslam and that means we should be in for a completely run of the mill edition of Main Event. Hopefully the show winds up surprising me, as you never know what you might be seeing around here. I mean, save for the build to Summerslam of course. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Cedric Alexander vs. Jaxson Ryker Alexander charges at him to start and is knocked down in a hurry. Back up and Alexander kicks at the leg, only to get slammed down. A running headbutt connects, only to have Alexander come back with more shots to the leg, including in the corner. Alexander grabs a kneebar to keep Ryker down and there’s a leg twist to make it worse. Back up again and Ryker runs him over one more time, this time for two. A quick brainbuster gives Alexander two more but the springboard clothesline misses, allowing Ryker to grab the swinging Boss Man ..

WWE Hall of Famer to Donate Brain to CTE Research

The past few years have educated the wrestling world on concussion-related injuries. Specifically, research into Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) has helped athletes all over the world understand the effects of such incidents as concussions on their body. CTE is known to be a progressive degenerative disease often found due to repetitive brain trauma. This is consistent with athletes such as football players and, as you could imagine, wrestlers. Christopher Nowinski, the co-founder and President of the Concussion Legacy Foundation (CLF) was a guest on a recent edition of Busted Open Radio. During the show, Nowinski went into detail as to what the foundation does and what work they’ve been able to accomplish. Before ever being involved in research, Nowinski was a finalist on Tough Enough many years ago. He debuted on TV for WWE in 2002 but was forced to retire late 2003 to early 2004 due to a post-concussion syndrome. In fact, Nowinski helped with the discovery of CTE and was t..

Alexa Bliss Injured, What Is Her Mixed Match Challenge Status?

Hopefully it’s little instead of big. Earlier this year, the first season of Mixed Match Challenge featured a variety of teams being thrown together to compete in a tournament. One of the most successful was Alexa Bliss and Braun Strowman, who turned out to have some outstanding chemistry. It was a no brainer to bring them back for the second season, though there is a bit of a hiccup. As announced on WWE’s YouTube channel, Bliss has suffered an arm injury and won’t be able to participate in this week’s Mixed Match Challenge debut. Bliss was scheduled to team with Strowman to face Kevin Owens and Natalya but Ember Moon has been chosen to replace her. There is no word on how long Bliss will be out, but she will be back in the Mixed Match Challenge as soon as she is healthy. Here’s WWE’s official announcement: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: Aside from the obvious reasons, I hope Bliss is back in the ring in a hurry. The team of Bliss and Strowman is one of the mos..

Jerry Lawler Recently Suffered A Stroke

Jerry Lawler had a stroke while at home three weeks ago. On his podcast Dinner with The King, Jerry Lawler revealed he had a stroke two and and a half weeks before WrestleMania 34. He said the stroke came right before he had a busy week planned. "It was on March 21st at about 6:30pm. I was here at my house and matter of fact we were scheduled to leave the next day on the 22nd to go to (Los Angeles) for Wondercon," said Lawler "I had a stroke out of the clear blue. I was basically feeling fine...I said something to (his fiancée) Lauryn and she said 'what did you say?' and I realized then what I said didn't sound right," he continued. Lawler implied he was in an intimate moment with his fiancée when his speech became slurred and half of his face became paralyzed. She drove Lawler directly to the hospital and he was attended to immediately. He said the stroke was a brain hemorrhage and his blood pressure was very high. He was in the hospital for three days without bei..
