Bigger than wrestling. There are all kinds of names in wrestling history, but very few have had the impact as Jim Ross. Over the years, Ross has been an on-air personality as well as a WWE executive who had several responsibilities behind the scenes. Ross is a true legend of wrestling, but now he is telling a story about something he did for a wrestler which was way more important than anything in a ring. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Farewell Then: Wrestling Legend Reveals His Upcoming Retirement Plans During a recent edition of his Grilling JR podcast, Ross told a story about talking to Sgt. Slaughter in a hotel. Slaughter got in the elevator and collapsed, with Ross believing he had suffered a seizure. Ross saw what happened and had someone call an ambulance, in addition to pulling Slaughter out of the elevator. Slaughter was able to receive medical attention and made it out of the situation in good health. That is an amazing story. Check out some more of Ross and Slaughter in better da..
They seem to be a no. There have been a lot of changes to the wrestling world this year and the biggest of them all seems to have been that of Vince McMahon retiring from WWE. McMahon was accused of various relationships with women and paying them off using company funds. The shakeup was felt throughout the company as well as the wrestling world. McMahon had been the force in WWE for such a long time, though a recent report suggested that might be changing again. It just seems that some people are not pleased. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WRESTLING RUMORS: NXT Set To Change Title Belt Designs Earlier this week, the Wall Street Journal reported that McMahon was planning a comeback to WWE at some point in the future, believing that he was given bad advice when he was told to retire. According to Fightful Select, over a dozen people in WWE spoke about the situation and the “rarely unanimous” reaction was not wanting McMahon back. One wrestler said they would be worried about the recently rehi..
I’ll believe it when I hear it. Wrestlers have a tricky set of rules to follow in their profession. While their job is to have a safe yet also entertaining match, they are also tasked with keeping fans believing that what they are seeing is real. That is a lot harder than it sounds and some wrestlers are better at it than others. Now one of the best ever might be dropping every bit of kayfabe altogether. According to the WrestleVotes Twitter account, the Undertaker will be debuting his own podcast. WWE and Peacock have talked Undertaker into airing his own podcast in the vein of Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions with the show debuting in the next few months. Undertaker officially retired from the ring at Survivor Series 2020 and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year. In a show similar to that of Broken Skull Sessions, Peacock & WWE have convinced The Undertaker to enter the podcasting world. Source states his new show should begin airing within the next few months. A fa..
That’s a special honor. There are a lot of titles to be won in wrestling but at some point, almost every wrestler is going to lose their championship. It isn’t something fun for them to do, but it has to happen at some point. That does not leave much for wrestlers to keep forever, but now we are getting to see someone receive a very special honor that will stick around. Thunder Rosa has announced that Bexar County, Texas, near San Antonio, has declared that March 16 will be known as Thunder Rosa Day. The tweeted announcement included photos of Rosa with the AEW Women’s Title, receiving a plaque declaring the honor. Rosa defeated Britt Baker to win the title on March 16 in her hometown of San Antonio, marking her first championship in AEW. Today Bexar county proclaimed 3:16 as Thunder Rosa Day! Making history one city at a time! Never stop believing and working hard ?????? @AEW @MissionProWres #thunderrosa3:16 #lameramera #DreamsComeTrue pic.twitter.com/VlX03bFXmM — Thunder Rosa (@t..
That’s quite the honor. There are all kinds of prizes and championships to be won in wrestling but they are not the kind of things that last. While those titles may not last forever, there are very few honors in wrestling which last forever. Sometimes you see someone receive a special award and it can be rather impressive. That was the case again this weekend. Stephanie McMahon has been inducted into the International Sports Hall of Fame. This makes McMahon the first female executive to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, which was established in 2012. McMahon’s ceremony took place on Sunday October 10 and also included Jay Cutler, Peter Westbrook, Billy Blanks, Marcus Allen, & Ernie Reyes Sr. as part of the class. Humbled & honored to be the 1st female executive inducted into the International Sports Hall of Fame with such a prestigious class. The key messages from all were passion, love, hard work, intention, & believing in yourself – #wordstoliveby. #ISHOF pic.twitter.com/dQeacqcwh..
Congratulations! Wrestlers are an interesting subject as their job is to keep you believing a lie that they tell you every single week, even if everyone already knows it to be a lie. That is hardly the easiest thing to do but wrestlers have made it a bit of an art form. These same wrestlers have lives of their own though, and now two of them have gotten some very good news in those lives. NXT stars Candice LeRae and Johnny Gargano have announced that they are expecting their first child, which will be due in February 2022. As a result, LeRae will be out of action for the next several months. Her most recent match took place on the July 6 edition of NXT, when LeRae and Indi Hartwell lost the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships to Zoey Stark and Io Shirai. There is nothing to suggest that Gargano will miss ring time as well. The secret's out! Our team is getting a little bigger.. The best is on the way! ?? @CandiceLeRae pic.twitter.com/wUxo3ktgqC — Johnny Gargano (@JohnnyGargano..
Monday Night Raw Date: July 26, 2021 Location: T-Mobile Center, Kansas City, Missouri Commentators: Jimmy Smith, Byron Saxton, Corey Graves It’s time to find out how bad Raw can get this week, which tends to be the new low every week. Last week’s show was one of the biggest head scratchers I’ve seen in a very long time and it could be terrifying to see just how low things can get. We are less than a month away from Summerslam and it’s time to build things up. Let’s get to it. We open with a recap of last week’s Women’s Title match and Nikki Ash cashing in Money in the Bank to win the title. Here is Nikki Ash to get things going. She finally gets to welcome us to Raw and talks about how she didn’t believe she could get here. Nikki has worked to get here and once she finally started believing in herself, she accomplished her goals. If she can do it, everyone can do it and we can all be almost superheroes. Cue Charlotte to talk about how last week wasn’t fair and she is getting her rem..
Dream off. Every now and then, a wrestler becomes far more infamous than famous. For one reason or another, something bad happens to someone and it becomes a lot bigger than whatever it is that they are going to be doing in the ring. Often times, this is something from outside of the ring, which was the case with a wrestler who almost got back in the ring. On Wednesday, SWF Wrestling announced that former NXT star the Velveteen Dream would be appearing at their September 11 Home Sweet Home event. Later in the same day, the promotion sent out another tweet saying that despite the promotion’s owner, Rob Fury, believing that any man can be slandered for something untrue, Dream will no longer be appearing at the show. Dream was released from WWE earlier this year, following a period of inactivity due to allegations of inappropriate contact with underage fans. WWE said that they had investigated Dream but found no evidence of any wrongdoing. While WWE did not find anything, Dream was rele..
That’s never good. Wrestling is a rather unique form of entertainment as it takes place live in front of people with, at least in theory, fans believing that what they are seeing is real. That might not be the case every single time, but sometimes you see fans who buy into what they are seeing. Something similar took place recently and it turned pretty ugly in a hurry. During a SWE Fury event over the weekend, a fan got into a fight with former WWE star Charlie Haas. The issue at the North Texas Fury Fest event started when Haas shoved a fan, prompting another fan to hit Haas in retaliation. Another wrestler intervened until the situation calmed, with Haas berating the fans for getting physically involved and attacking him. Of course there was a camera. It had been previously reported that Hulk Hogan has been reinstated to the WWE Hall of Fame, and made his return to the company, addressing the backstage locker room and apologized for his actions over the last few years. But how did his return actually go down? According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, when Hogan gave his speech, he talked about how he regretted not only what he said, but the people he hurt and embarrassing the company. However, there were very mixed feelings with many not believing that he was sincere, and taking the speech as more of an “I embarrassed the company because somebody filmed me without my knowledge, and not that, under any circumstances, what I said was awful.” Hogan then apologized for what he said, and did mention that he didn’t know he was being recorded. It appeared to most, that the majority of the talent accepted what he said. Much of the talent seemed to react favorably, with many shaking his hands and hugging him. H..
The Miz was a guest on CBS Sports’ In This Corner podcast, where he spoke about believing Daniel Bryan never fought for his dreams and remembered defeating John Cena at WrestleMania 27. The Miz first remembered main eventing WrestleMania 27 against Cena, where Miz entered and left as WWE Champion: “I have pinned John Cena at WrestleMania, and it was one of the most amazing experiences of my WWE career. To go into WrestleMania as WWE Champion and to walk out of WrestleMania as WWE Champion as the bad guy that people boo, that doesn’t really happen ever and it did with me because I make people believe.” The former WWE Intercontinental Champion joked about annoying people with pictures of his new daughter, Monroe Sky: “I have annoyed my friends. Anyone on the footage. I have annoyed interviews, and anyone and everyone. I am just so proud. It is one of those—it’s exactly what everyone has told me about having a child. It is indescribable. I can’t describe how proud I am of this little gir..

Drew McIntyre recently spoke with The UK Mirror. Here are some highlights from the interview:

WWE Return: It’s been a crazy couple of months. I was basically the busiest independent wrestler in the world, travelling the world back and forth. I was under contract at the time [with IMPACT Wrestling] and I elected not to sign my new contract. I had to make the best decision for my future and my family’s future. I was very, very lucky after so many people believing in me and working my arse off that I was able to take a pick of where I was going to go. But my mind was made up, if I got the opportunity… William Regal is one of my mentors and I had been talking with him the whole time I have been away from WWE. He has been giving me advice, watching my matches, so that’s pretty much where it came up. I had a good conversation with Triple H on the phone and as I say, my mind was made up where I wanted to go. NXT is the top roster in the world as far as I’m concerned, the work ethic and fans. Once I had that conversation my mind was beyond made up. That day when I showed up at the show was one of the wildest days of my life. I had a very busy day! I started at 8am, I had a signing, then a show in the afternoon, then a radio appearance, I had an additional signing, then showed up at the Evolve show at 8pm it started, I was out in the first segment, I believe I left the building at 8.20pm, drove straight to the Amway Center in Orlando, my wife was waiting with a suit at the back door. We ran in the back, I put the suit on, this was about 9pm, Orlando traffic so it took a while to get there, and I was sitting in my seat in front of 15,000 fans, and at not one point did I think to myself ‘I wonder how they’re going to react?’ until I sat in that seat, got my head down and thought ‘oh my God, I hope they remember me and have been following what I’ve been doing!’ When I showed up on camera and I saw and heard that reaction it was one of the best feelings in my life and I knew I had made the right decision.

Competing For The WWE UK Title: Absolutely. An opportunity to wrestle those guys would be a privilege. They are so talented and so young, it’s amazing the difference in the scene now, that people have so much talent to work with and get so advanced, those guys like Tyler Bate and Pete Dunne are just so unbelievably advanced for their age. I just had a match we taped for television just before the TakeOver, I was getting my gear off and watching it on my phone on the Network, and I stopped in my tracks as I was watching the match, sat in my underpants! I could not get changed, I just had to watch the entire match. I was blown away, I tweeted right away, ‘NXT UK TakeOver’ because I was shaking my head like ‘wow, when we first came over, there was nobody, just Sheamus, myself and Wade Barrett, there was nothing like this going on’. To watch the level of talent and that show-stealing performance just made me very proud of the lads and the UK scene in general.

The Rise of Jinder Mahal: I made the loudest noise in the world backstage when he won that title! I think I almost punched the roof I jumped and punched the air so much. Just to watch his turnaround is the biggest thing for me. I remember about a year and a half ago having a conversation with him. The second I was gone from the WWE, as you know, I started to write my mission statement, I just kept going, there was nothing else I was going to do. I had a clear vision and thankfully it just came out. With Jinder he went out, he wasn’t too sure what he wanted to do, and he talked about this on Chris Jericho’s podcast so I’m not speaking out of turn. He got himself out of shape, not wrestling so much. He wasn’t really sure what to do and we had a conversation when he wasn’t too sure about his future and was talking about opening I think it was a Subway franchise he was leaning towards and he’s got a couple of houses and real estate. Wrestling was pretty much off the table. Then one day he made a decision, ‘no, I’m going to get back in shape’. He started taking it seriously again, got back in shape, got the call from WWE, continued his path, worked hard, gave up alcohol, made these positive changes in his life and just started working his arse off. To watch him go from that conversation when he was out of shape to where he is today, the most in-shape guy on the roster and one of the hardest working guys, I’m very proud of my brother for earning that. That was a big moment for him and I couldn’t be prouder of him.

Being The Top Guy: I always have, 100%, I’ve never changed my opinion since I said that. He didn’t say the things he said for his health, he has done a lot with this business because of his eye for it. I wasn’t necessarily the guy he was looking for back then in a few different ways, but he certainly saw that raw talent and potential. I’ve been lucky that I’ve got myself through various opportunities and platforms and people believing in me, my wife helping in a lot of different areas, and growing up a lot, I’ve shown I am ready now to be a top guy, to hold that position for the company and show what it is to represent a giant, publicly traded company like WWE. There is so much more than just what you do in the ring and what you do on the microphone. As a kid I didn’t quite comprehend that, but now that’s something 100% I’m ready for. I’ve represented many people as the face of the company, proudly and I do it with joy and I do it with respect and make sure I elevate everywhere I go. I came to NXT to elevate it and I came back to WWE to fulfill the prophecy.
