It has been a pretty strong year for Impact, as there have been quite a few stars coming and going, along with some rather awesome matches throughout. Only Him: MJF Wins Award From ESPN And He Is Not Happy About It

That’s not a normal complaint. You can often recognize a star in the wrestling world when you see one and more often than not, it is someone who stands out. A wrestler who acts differently is going to get noticed a lot more easily and that can lead to a lot of success. That is the case with one of AEW’s top stars and now he is being recognized for his abilities. However, he isn’t exactly happy with the recognition. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Delay Continues: AEW Wrestler Receives Bad Medical News ESPN announced its 2022 Wrestling Awards this week, with AEW’s Maxwell Jacob Friedman being named Promo Artist Of The Year. Cody Rhodes Wins WWE Moment of the Year at 2022 ESPYS

It truly is his kingdom. Tonight at the 2022 ESPY Awards, hosted by ESPN, Cody Rhodes picked up the award for WWE Moment of the Year. This was for his return to the company at Wrestlemania 37. The honor was announced as Rhodes presented the ESPY for Best Comeback Athlete, which went to Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors. WWE Releases ESPY Award Brackets For WWE Moment Of The Year

Get your brackets ready. Wrestling is in a weird place when it comes to being a sport. While there are pre-determined results, there is no denying that the people involved are athletes and have some amazing skills. Those people are going to be able to use those skills to make fans care about what they are doing. Now we are getting a look at the best of the last year. Next month, ESPN will be holding its annual ESPY Awards, honoring the best in sports in the last year. This will include a Best WWE Moment Of 2022, with fans getting to vote for the winner. WWE has released eight pairs of matches that fans can vote on, with the next round of voting coming in the future. The ESPY Awards will air on ABC on Wednesday July 20 from Los Angeles. WWE Star Wins Prestigious And Historic Honor

That’s quite the honor. Wrestlers are known for winning championships, but one of the problems is that eventually most of those championships are lost. A wrestler is known as a former champion, but that is not exactly the same thing as continuing to hold a title. There are some titles that last forever though, and now a WWE star has won another one of those, albeit in a different kind of wrestling. WWE’s Gable Steveson has won the Danny Hodge Trophy, given to the NCAA’s top wrestler. Steveson becomes the first heavyweight to win the awards twice, having won it last season as well. He also won the NCAA Heavyweight Championship for the second year in a row and is expected to make his WWE debut at some point in the near future, having signed with the company after winning an Olympic gold medal last year. AEW Reveals Its Annual AEW Award Winners

Open the envelope. At some point or another, any and every wrestling fan has discussed the best and worst of wrestling with someone else. It might have been over the best wrestler, the best match, the best move or vice versa, but it is something that almost everyone does. Now it has happened again, with fans getting a way in who is officially the best. AEW announced its 2021 AEW Awards this weekend, with twelve awards being presented. The awards covered the best of AEW in 2021, including debuts, matches, promos, breakout stars and more. Two For One: Wrestling Star Wins Titles In Another Sport (She Won A Sword)

She’s good at that too. Wrestlers get a bad reputation when it comes to athleticism. While they are certainly athletes, they are often looked at differently because the matches they take part in are pre-determined. That is something that can make people skeptical of what they can do athletically, but it can be made better when you see them succeed elsewhere. That was the case again this week. Impact Wrestling’s Jordynne Grace announced on twitter that she competed at the Owen’s Gym Unsanctioned Power Lifting Meet over the weekend, winning first in her class in her weight class and overall while being named the strongest female at the competition. AEW Dominates 2021 PWI Awards, WWE Nearly Shut Out

They have earned it. There are only a handful of awards for wrestlers to win, which makes them that much more prestigious. It makes for some interesting discussions year to year, as fans are always going to debate the best at any given point. Some wrestlers are going to stand out more than others, and this time around, the fans have been allowed to give their input on the best around. Pro Wrestling Illustrated has released its annual awards issue, looking at the Best Of 2021. AEW dominated the major awards, sweeping almost everything from WWE. WATCH: New Name Announced For Wrestling Hall Of Fame

That’s a special one. There are all kinds of awards and accomplishments that can be won during a wrestler’s career, but it is rare to see anything that acknowledges their entire career. A championship reign usually only looks at a small portion of their career, as the title reign will end one day. It means a lot to see someone’s entire career recognized and that is the case again. Over the weekend at Knockouts Knockdown, Impact Wrestling announced that Awesome Kong will be inducted into the company’s Hall of Fame at Bound For Glory on October 23. Christy Hemme returned to announce the induction, with Kong appearing and dedicating her induction to Daffney, who passed away last month. Kong wrestled for Impact Wrestling in multiple stints, where she is a two time Knockouts Champion and a one time Knockouts Tag Team Champion. That’s how wrestling fandom works and there is nothing wrong with it whatsoever. VIDEO: Ryback Is Trying To Go To Summerslam

That’s a different gig. A lot of wrestlers come and go from WWE every year and a lot of them leave without much of an impact. You might remember a match or two here or there, but for the most part, they are just people who used to work there and don’t anymore. Very few do anything memorable, but now one of them with a bit of a reputation is trying to get back in, albeit in a different way. WWE is currently running a contest where a fan will be able to introduce a match at Summerslam. Former WWE star Ryback has posted a video to YouTube, officially entering the contest. In the video, Ryback introduces Roman Reigns vs. John Cena, the likely main event for the show, with various jokes and shots taken at both wrestlers and Reigns’ manager Paul Heyman. Wrestling is in a weird place when it comes to mainstream attention. It is rare to see wrestling being treated as something important or legitimate, which means it can be all the more interesting when you see it happen. Wrestling has come a long way in the last few years as various outlets have been covering it a bit more. That was the case again this weekend in a rather nice way. Saturday night, Bianca Belair vs. Sasha Banks in the main event of WrestleMania 37 Night One won the Best WWE Moment at the 2021 ESPY Awards. Both Belair and Banks were on hand to accept the award. Get your envelopes ready. Debating/arguing the best in wrestling is a rite of passage among fans. Everyone has done it at some point in their time as a fan and that will always be the case. It is an easy thing to do as everyone has a take of some kind. It makes for some interesting discussions, but it can be even more interesting when someone on the inside gets involved. That’s pretty mainstream. WWE is in a weird place when it comes to mainstream attention. Things have gotten better in the last few years as WWE has gone PG and they are not on FOX every Friday night, but there is still a big gap between professional wrestling and almost anything else in mainstream sports. Every now and then you see something a little different though, and that will be the case again this summer. WWE has announced that the Best WWE Moment Award will return to the 2021 ESPY Awards. This will be the second version of the award, with Roman Reigns’ return winning the inaugural edition in 2019. The Usos’ Return To The Ring Is Confirmed

It’s a long time coming. There have been a lot of great tag teams in wrestling over the years and some of the best ever have been brothers. A pair of brothers are going to have a connection that others are never going to be able to replicate because they have known each other since before they started wrestling. One of those teams will be returning to the ring next week. This week on SmackDown, Jimmy Uso requested a tag match with his brother Jey against the Street Profits for next week’s show. Sonya Deville made the match and it was officially announced later in the show. However, Jey disapproved of Jimmy asking for the match, saying that he should have asked first. The match will be the Usos’ first match in over a year due to Jimmy’s knee injury. The Usos made their WWE debuts in 2010 and have teamed together since, save for a few missed stretches due to injuries. Bad Bunny Wins 2021 Grammy Award For Best Latin Pop Album

He’s as bad as they come. Last night at the 2021 Grammy Awards, Bad Bunny won a Grammy award in the Best Latin Pop or Urban Album category, for his album “YHLQMDLG.” This was the first win of his career. Bad Bunny is the current WWE 24/7 Champion and has had quite a month. In addition to the above awards, he also had the opportunity to perform on Saturday Night Live, with the title on screen. He is currently allied with Damian Priest on Raw and is rumored to be wrestling at Wrestlemania 37 against The Miz and John Morrison. It’s like a championship! The year is wrapping up and a lot of people are likely rather pleased with that being the case. We are on the way to a new year but that also means that we are looking back on what took place over the course of the year. WWE has had a lot of problems in 2020 but it has also had some good news. Now WWE is rewarding those great things. Back in 1986, WWE introduced the Slammy Awards as a tongue in cheek look back at the best parts of the year. This made for some interesting shows as the awards have been presented on and off over the years. The awards have not been around since 2015, but this is a unique year and that means it is time to bring them out of mothballs, which was done this week.
