AEW Dynamite Results – February 8, 2023

Dynamite Date: February 8, 2023 Location: County Coliseum, El Paso, Texas Commentators: Excalibur, Tony Schiavone, Taz It’s a title themed show this week as we have two title matches plus a pair of eliminator matches. That should be enough to make for a good night as AEW tends to treat its titles seriously. The build towards Revolution continues and we should be getting some more added to the card. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Maxwell Jacob Friedman vs. Konosuke Takeshita Non-title. MJF’s offer of a handshake is brushed off to start so Takeshita hammers down some right hands in the corner. A knee is blocked and MJF sends him into the corner to take over. We hit the armbar, followed by a hammerlock DDT for two on Takeshita. Back up and Takeshita hits a quick brainbuster for two and a frog splash gets the same. Takeshita traps the legs and hits a Tombstone, followed by a wheelbarrow suplex to send MJF outside. MJF gets in a shot of his own and takes it back inside, with Takeshi..

Not So Fast? Update On Future Of WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles

They might not be back. There are a variety of titles in the wrestling world and some of them are featured on a regular basis. A few of those titles are designated for specific groups or classes of wrestlers, meaning the competition for them is a bit more narrow. Now though, it seems that you might not be seeing some of them again, as WWE doesn’t exactly seem interested. Back in May, Sasha Banks and Naomi walked out of WWE, vacating their Women’s Tag Team Titles in the process. Shortly thereafter, WWE announced that a tournament would be held for the titles, though nothing else has been mentioned. According to Fightful Select, there has been no backstage discussion of the tournament or the titles. It is not clear if anything will be done with them or if the titles are gone for good. Opinion: I can’t say I’m surprised by any of this, as the titles were barely noteworthy for most of their existence. WWE just does not have the depth in its women’s division to make them viable at the mom..

AEW Dynamite Live Coverage And Results – May 4, 2022

Dynamite Date: May 4, 2022 Location: Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena, Baltimore, Maryland Commentators: Excalibur, Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone I’m not sure how but we’re less than a month away from Double Or Nothing. Last week’s show saw the announcement that CM Punk would be challenging Hangman Page for the World Title at the pay per view so at least they have the top match set up pretty far in advance. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Owen Hart Foundation Qualifying Match: Jeff Hardy vs. Bobby Fish Adam Cole is on commentary and Matt Hardy and Kyle O’Reilly are at ringside. Fish takes him into the corner to start and kicks away at the leg, setting up a dragon screw legwhip onto the other leg. They head outside with another dragon screw legwhip sending Hardy into the barricade and we take a break. Back with Hardy making a comeback and dropping Fish to go up top. The Swanton is broken up though and it’s the super Falcon Arrow to put Hardy down for two. Fish grabs the kneebar bu..

Finn Balor Pokes Fun At Bobby Lashley Over Recent Mid-Match Accident

He has some experience. There are some things that you will see in wrestling which you just do not see happening in other sports. That can often be due to the ring itself, which is quite the complicated setup. Sometimes it can be due to something literally falling apart, which took place at a recent WWE show. Now another WWE star is having a good time with the accident. Last week, Bobby Lashley narrowly escaped a very bad situation when the top rope broke and he crashed out to the floor. Lashley was ok following the crash and continued the match against Drew McIntyre. Following the match, Finn Balor tweeted out an image of himself losing to Roman Reigns at Extreme Rules when the top rope broke as well, though Balor’s was planned in advance. pic.twitter.com/imrFbZR5Ab — Finn Bálor (@FinnBalor) April 30, 2022 Opinion: This is something that is worth a chuckle once you know that everyone is ok. Lashley crashing out to the floor like that could have been a complete disaster and it is g..

Big E. Reveals That His Neck Injury Could Have Been Much Worse

That could have been a lot worse. Injuries in wrestling can happen at any time and they can be nothing short of devastating. What seems to be something simple and not that bad can wind up being horrible as well. That wound up being the case last week when someone got hurt in the blink of an eye. As it turns out though, things could have been a lot worse than they wound up being. Last week on SmackDown, Big E. suffered a neck injury when he fractured two vertebrae after landing on his head on the floor during a match. Big E. has made a post on Twitter, saying that he had his first doctor’s appointment, where he was told that he narrowly escaped a stroke, paralysis, or death because of the fracture. As a result, Big E. said that life feels more precious and valuable now. There is no word on when Big E. will return to the ring, or if he will ever be able to do so. [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: Anything that involves not having a stroke, being paralyzed or dying is ..

WWE Confirms Another WrestleMania 38 Title Match (And It’s Bigger Than Before)

Put them on the list. We are less than two weeks away from WrestleMania 38 and the card is mostly put together. There are still a lot of wrestlers that need something to do at the show though and that can be a rather narrow selection for some people. There aren’t a lot of spots for some wrestlers but now two of them have their WrestleMania spots officially locked in. The official WrestleMania Twitter account has announced that RKBro will defend the Raw Tag Team Titles against the Street Profits and the Alpha Academy in a triple threat at WrestleMania 38. This is the first time that the match has been made official after RKBro accepted the Profits’ challenge last week on Monday Night Raw, with Alpha Academy attacking both teams after the challenge was accepted. The match will take place on Night Two of WrestleMania on April 3. #RKBro will defend the #WWERaw Tag Team Championship in a Triple Threat Match at #WrestleMania 38!@RandyOrton @SuperKingofBros @MontezFordWWE @AngeloDawkins @ot..

Two More WWE Stars May Have A Path To WrestleMania 38

Keep it going. We are less than two weeks away from WrestleMania 38 and one of the bigger WWE stories at the moment is about wrestlers finding a path to the show. In some cases that makes sense, but there are several wrestlers who have one realistic chance to make it to WrestleMania. Now it seems that two more people are ready to follow their narrow path. The current plan for the Raw Tag Team Title match at WrestleMania 38 includes RKBro defending their titles against the Street Profits. RKBro accepted the challenge this week on Monday Night Raw, but Alpha Academy attacked both teams later in the night. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the current plan is for Alpha Academy to be added to the match, making it a triple threat. There is no word on if any other teams would be added to the match. Opinion: This isn’t much of a surprise and I kind of expect a fourth team to be added as well to match the Women’s Tag Team Title match. The triple threat concept is a bit played o..

REVIEW: WrestleMania 16: It’s All About The McMahons

Welcome to KB’s Old School (and New School) Reviews. I’ve been reviewing wrestling shows for over twelve years now and have reviewed over 6,000 shows. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Wrestlemania XVI Date: April 2, 2000 Location: Arrowhead Pond, Anaheim, California Attendance: 19,776 Commentators: Jim Ross, Jerry Lawler This was one of the shows that tied for the most votes for a redo but I’ve seen Wrestlemania X, the other option, more times than I really need to and this sounded more interesting. It’s kind of an infamous Wrestlemania as there are no singles matches on the entire show but it is the biggest show of the year in the best year WWE has ever seen. Let’s get to it. Lilian Garcia si..

Game Changer Wrestling The Wrld On GCW Results

The Wrld On GCW Date: January 23, 2022 Location: Hammerstein Ballroom, New York City, New York Commentators: Dave Prazak, Kendall Gill Hosts: Lenny Leonard, Pollo del Mar Every now and then a show catches my attention and I’ll add it to the schedule. That is the case here, as GCW has become the hottest indy around at the moment and I’m going to give it a shot. I am absolutely not a fan of the deathmatch stuff, but apparently that kind of wrestling is not allowed in New York so we get a bit of a reprieve here. Let’s get to it. Note that I barely follow GCW so I am not going to know much in the way of storylines or characters so please bear with me if I miss something. Kickoff Show: Blue Ribbon Battle Royal Psycho Clown, Dark Sheik, Cole Radrick, Parrow, Hoodfoot, Ruckus, Charles Mason, KTB, Juicy Finau, Steve Scott, Nate Webb, Big Vin, Brandon Kirk, Janai Kai, Dustin Thomas, Marcus Mathers, Yoya, B-Boy, Lufisto, Thunder Rosa Clown jumps Parrow before most of the entrances have taken..

Wrestler Appears On WWE And AEW TV In The Same Week

Double payday. The wrestling world has changed quite a bit, as there is now more content available than ever before. One of the biggest reasons for this is the arrival of AEW, which has become the second biggest wrestling promotion in the world in just a few years of existence. The company allows wrestlers another place to go, and that was certainly the case for a specific wrestler this week. Independent wrestler Leo Sparrow appeared on both WWE Monday Night Raw and AEW Rampage this week. Sparrow wrestled in a loss to Omos on Monday Night Raw and appeared in a music video from the Acclaimed on Rampage. Sparrow shared a photo of both appearances on Twitter. This is not the first time someone has done this, as Kelsey Heather did the same in July 2021. The #SonOfTheSun was on #WWERAW AND #AEWRampage this week ??? pic.twitter.com/8T6vJ1Dpa3 — Leo Sparrow (@NoSteakAllSizzl) January 15, 2022 Opinion: That is the kind of thing you don’t get to see very often and it must be a thrill for Sp..

Survivor Series 2021 Live Coverage And Results

Survivor Series 2021 Date: November 21, 2021 Location: Barclays Center, New York City, New York Commentators: Michael Cole, Corey Graves, Jimmy Smith, Byron Saxton, Pat McAfee I’m running out of ways to say this show isn’t that interesting, but it seems that even some of the wrestlers are thinking the same. This is another Battle For Brand Supremacy and this time around we’ll be seeing more champions fighting each other. Not for any titles mind you, but for the glory of their t-shirt. Let’s get to it. Kickoff Show: Shinsuke Nakamura (Smackdown) vs. Damian Priest (Raw) Non-title and Rick Boogs is here with Nakamura. Priest grabs a hammerlock to start but Nakamura fights up thanks to the power of a guitar solo. Back up and Nakamura mocks Priest’s arrow before sending him into the corner for Good Vibrations, again complete with the guitar. Priest runs Nakamura over for two and an elbow the face gets the same. We hit the chinlock so Boogs plays him back up, earning a warning from Priest...

AEW Rampage Results – September 17, 2021

Rampage Date: September 17, 2021 Location: Prudential Center, Newark, New Jersey Commentators: Taz, Ricky Starks, Chris Jericho, Excalibur It’s another stacked show this week with a pair of title matches. First up we have Butcher and the Blade getting a shot at the Lucha Bros, plus Miro defending the TNT Title against Fuego del Sol. The latter is made a little more interesting when you throw in del Sol’s car being on the line as well. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Tag Team Titles: Butcher And The Blade vs. Lucha Bros The Bros are defending and Butcher throws Fenix around to start. Penta comes in to take over on Butcher, including the wheelbarrow splash for two. Butcher forearms Penta in the face so Fenix comes in, only to get kneed in the face. It’s already back to Penta for the Sling Blades to the floor, setting up the big dives from the champs. We take a break and come back with Penta having to crawl over for the tag to Fenix, who strikes away at Butcher and Blade. Butcher b..

NXT UK Results – September 3, 2021

NXT UK Date: September 2, 2021 Location: BT Studios, London, England Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Andy Shepherd With the reaction to the UK Title change out of the way, it’s time to move forward around here. Now in this case, that makes me interested in where they’re going, as NXT UK has been quite the fun show for a rather long while now. That being said, there is always the chance that WWE pulls the plug around here and none of this matters again. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. Blair Davenport vs. Nina Samuels Hold on actually as Davenport jumps Samuels before the bell and hits her with a Falcon Arrow. Officials, including Sid Scala, come out, with Davenport laying out Scala as well. No match. We look back at Aoife Valkyrie beating Jinny last week in a heck of a fight. Valkyrie has injured her knee though and will be out of action for a “significant period of time”. Jinny takes credit for injuring Valkyrie. Symbiosis is ready for Saxon Huxley and whoever he can get to te..

WATCH: Roman Reigns vs. Samoa Joe From WWE Backlash 2018

When heavyweights collide. WWE has posted a new video to its YouTube channel in which they show the full match between Roman Reigns and Samoa Joe from WWE Backlash 2018. You can see the match in its entirety below: [This post contains video, click to play] From WWE.com: Joe ambushed Reigns before the bell and sent him crashing through the Spanish announce table with a Uranage, kicking off a strategy that began with Reigns trapped in holds that targeted his shoulders for minutes on end and culminated in a series of Coquina Clutch attempts that The Big Dog narrowly managed to avoid. Joe’s strategy was as rudimentary as it was effective. Even when Reigns landed a thunderous Spear, Joe was close enough to the ropes to stop the pinfall, and The Samoan Submission Machine only turned up the heat when he felt it was time to lock in his near-ironclad submission hold. When Joe finally applied the Clutch, grapevine legs and all, Reigns seemed to be drifting into unconsciousness before he ro..

Universal Championship Match Set For Hell in a Cell 2021

It’s all about family. Since becoming the Universal Champion last year, Roman Reigns has made a big deal about the importance of family. He will have the opportunity to show that at the upcoming 2021 Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, which happens to take place on Father’s Day. This past week on Smackdown, Rey Mysterio challenged Roman Reigns to a match for the title at Hell in a Cell. This morning on Talking Smack, Paul Heyman accepted the challenge on behalf of his client. You can see the clip below: [This post contains video, click to play] From WWE.com: The elder Mysterio confronted The Head of the Table on SmackDown after the Universal Champion’s brutal attack on his son Dominik. Father and son launched a Kendo stick attack that Reigns narrowly escaped. The Mysterios have carried a target on their backs as SmackDown Tag Team Champions, but the father-son duo always head into battle shoulder to shoulder. On the other side, Reigns has seen the reemergence of Jimmy Uso draw a line b..

NXT Results – August 5, 2020

NXT Date: August 5, 2020 Location: Full Sail University, Winter Park, Florida Commentators: Mauro Ranallo, Beth Phoenix, Tom Phillips We’re coming up on Takeover and that means it is time to continue with the series of triple threat matches on the way to the North American Title match. Tonight it’s Ridge Holland vs. Damian Priest and Oney Lorcan. We probably need to set up some more stuff for the card and we might get there tonight. Let’s get to it. Opening recap. Opening sequence. Dakota Kai vs. Rhea Ripley The winner gets Io Shirai for the Women’s Title at Takeover. Ripley starts fast with a dropkick into the corner and the big shoulders to the ribs. A wheelbarrow faceplant puts Kai down again and Ripley pounds her down in the corner again. Ripley grabs a bodyscissors for a bit before blasting her with a clothesline for two. They head outside with Ripley electric chair dropping Kai face first onto the apron. We take a break and come back with Kai hitting a pump kick to the face f..

CombatMania 36 Night Two Live Coverage And Results

Wrestlemania XXXVI Night Two Date: April 5, 2020 Location: WWE Performance Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Michael Cole, John Bradshaw Layfield We’re back for more of the same and that might not be the worst thing in the world. Last night’s part one wasn’t half bad but they are going to have a hard time surpassing that main event. There are eight more matches, plus the required Kickoff Show match, tonight so hopefully they can have another good one. Let’s get to it. Kickoff Show: Liv Morgan vs. Natalya Morgan rolls her up for two to start so Natalya does the same for a standoff. Some more rollups get some more near falls until Morgan sends her into the corner. A running hip attack hits Natalya but she’s right back with her basement dropkick for two more. Natalya clotheslines her to the floor, followed by the surfboard back inside. Natalya: “ASK HER!!!!” That’s broken up and Liv’s Codebreaker gets two. The sitout wheelbarrow faceplant gives Natalya the same and they pinfall rev..

NWA Powerrr Results – March 3, 2020

If you would like to see this show for free, you can check it out in full right here: Powerrr Date: March 3, 2020 Location: GPB Studios, Atlanta, Georgia Commentators: Joe Galli, Stu Bennett The Crockett Cup is starting to look and that could mean things are starting to pick up. We still have over a month to go before the show but Marty Scurll is coming for the NWA World Title, which could make for a heck of a title match. The tournament is coming up as well so let’s get to it. Opening recap. Opening sequence. Sean Mooney previews the show, including two title matches. TV Title: Zicky Dice vs. Ricky Starks Dice is challenging and takes Starks to the mat without much trouble. Starks gets knocked down again and this time Dice wraps his ribs around the post. Back in and the chinlock doesn’t last long so Dice chokes on the ropes instead. A Falcon Arrow gives Starks two but Dice hits the Snake Rattle and Roll. Starks is in the ropes at two so Dice walks around and points to his head. ..

Wrestlemania XII Review: The Impossible Dream

Wrestlemania XII Date: March 31, 1996 Location: Arrowhead Pond, Anaheim, California Attendance: 18,853 Commentators: Jerry Lawler, Vince McMahon Much like last year, there’s nothing else to talk about besides the main event. This is all about Shawn vs. Bret and they’re not even trying to hide it. The other big match on the card is Diesel vs. Undertaker but it’s so far behind the World Title match that it’s not fair to mention them in the same breath. Let’s get to it. Before we get to the show, here’s a bonus that probably should have been on the main card (at least on paper). Occasionally WWF would air a match on their pre-show (known as the Kickoff Show in modern times) and I’ll include them if they’re available. There were dark matches for years before Wrestlemania would go on the air but this is the first that was actually recorded. Free For All: Tag Team Titles: Godwinns vs. Bodydonnas This is a tournament final for the vacant titles. The Bodydonnas (Skip and Zip, a pair of e..
