He’s available. The rise of AEW has changed the way the wrestling world works, as there is now another major platform for wrestlers to apply their trade. AEW allows more wrestlers a chance to go out in the ring on national television and that has been missing for a very long time now. More wrestlers are going to use that chance and now there is a major free agent out there who can sign wherever he likes. Welcome back? There are all kinds of wrestling promotions in the world and most of them do not look like anything WWE or AEW. The majority of wrestling promotions are run on smaller scales in front of fewer fans. At the same time though there are some promotions with reputations from name alone, and now another one of them might be on their way back to life. IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Sweeten The Pot: Contract Details On Returning WWE Superstars According to Inside The Ropes, World Of Sport is considering a relaunch, though it is not clear when it might take place. The promotion returned in 2016 and 2018 but has not continued saved for a live event tour. There is no word on how the promotion would be presented, but an NWA model, with studio shows and live events is being considered. The company has reportedly reached out to both Nick Aldis and Mickie James, though there is no word on how far any talks have gone. The company does have some history. Check out how it has gone over the year..
There’s a big free agent. The wrestling world has expanded in a huge way as there are so many promotions with so many talented wrestlers around the world. That means there are all kinds of stars available for fans to see, which opens up a lot of different options. Now one of those stars is ready to move on elsewhere, meaning there will be quite the resume on the open market. According to PWInsider.com, former NWA World Champion Nick Aldis has announced that he will be leaving the NWA, via a private Instagram video. Aldis said that he has given his notice to the NWA, where he is not happy with the company’s creative direction. He is currently scheduled to face Odinson at Hard Times 3 on November 12, with his NWA contract running through January 2023. There was no word on where Aldis might sign next. Opinion: This is going to make things interesting for a lot of promotions, as Aldis will certainly attract a lot of suitors. He is a talented star who has been a big deal in multiple promo..
They might need counseling. There are a lot of wrestling promotions throughout the world and some of them are rather prominent. These are the promotions that have been around for a very long time now and a lot of people have heard of them over the years. It turns out that the modern version of one of the most famous promotions in history might not be going so well. On August 28, the NWA will present its 74th anniversary show, featuring Tyrus challenging Trevor Murdoch for the NWA World Title. This comes after NWA owner Billy Corgan pulled Nick Aldis from the match. The two have both commented on the situation, with Corgan blaming Aldis’ attitude. According to PWInsider.com, there is some truth to the storyline comments, as Aldis has been critical of Corgan’s creative direction of the NWA. This has resulted in heat on Aldis for promoting himself as bigger than the NWA itself. Aldis is still expected to wrestle at the show with a new opponent to be named. ?? JUST ANNOUNCED: @Billy has ..
Two for one. There are a lot of championships in wrestling but only some of them are at the top of the industry. Those top titles are among the most famous names in the history of the business and winning one of those titles can change a wrestler’s career trajectory. That was the case again this weekend, though it turns out that it happened twice in the span of two days. There was a pair of World Title changes over the weekend. On Saturday night, Trevor Murdoch won the vacant NWA World Title at Alwayz Ready, defeating Nick Aldis, Sam Shaw and Thom Latimer, becoming a two time champion. The title was vacated after Matt Cardona was forced to vacate the title due to a torn bicep. Second, Jay White won the IWGP World Heavyweight Title from Kazuchika Okada in the main event of New Japan’s Dominion event. Opinion: This is the kind of weekend that you do not get to see very often in wrestling and it makes things that much more interesting. Above all else, these are the kinds of title change..
Ouch. There are all kinds of ways for a wrestler to be put on the shelf with an injury. It might be something that has built up over time and has to be corrected but there are also times when an injury pops up out of nowhere. Both are equally bad, but the latter can stop someone’s push cold. Unfortunately that seems to be the case again, as a top independent star may have been injured. NWA World Champion Matt Cardona revealed that he was injured during a match at GCW’s Downward Spiral event. The injury took place during a match against Black Christian though it is not clear when it happened during the match. Cardona tweeted that he thought he tore his bicep and was forced to miss his own after party as he flew to Orlando to get his arm looked at. There is no word on how long Cardona could be out, though he is scheduled to defend the NWA World Title against Nick Aldis on June 11. I think I tore my bicep and I still finished the match and beat you!!! https://t.co/PWzrCryEV6 — Matt Car..
That’s the big one. Titles are one of the easiest concepts in all of professional wrestling. Any fan can get the idea of putting a championship on the line and seeing who walks out with the gold. A wrestler holding a title for a long time can make their title reign seem all the more important, especially when someone finally takes it from them. That was the case this weekend. Trevor Murdoch defeated Nick Aldis at the NWA 73rd Anniversary Show to become the new NWA World Heavyweight Champion for the first time in his career. In addition, Murdoch had put his career on the line in the match. Murdoch’s win ends Aldis’ second reign at 1043 days, which was more than double the longest reign with the title since 1999. Aldis’ reign was the sixth longest in the title’s history. It’s a big deal. NWA time. Wrestling fans are rather spoiled today when it comes to available content. There is so much wrestling available that it is impossible to see everything that is being aired and that is a nice problem to have. With so many things running around, you have to pick and choose what you want to see and that is going to get a little more complicated next week. One of the biggest wrestling surprises of 2019 was the resurgence of the NWA. As NWA World Champion Nick Aldis said, the company went from a punchline to a powerhouse, nearly entirely based on the strength of the NWA Powerrr show. The weekly series was only around for a few months but it changed the way people looked at the company. The show has been gone for several months, but now we are going to be seeing a spiritual successor. It’s kind of a big deal. Check out the NWA’s surprise: The NWA has announced a new series called Shockwave debuting on Tuesday December 1 at 6pm EST. The show will be produced in conjunction with..
NWA World Heavyweight champion Nick Aldis is one of the most respected talents working in the pro wrestling industry today. The National Treasure has faced a variety of challengers during his second title reign, which began when he defeated Cody at the NWA 70th Anniversary Show. Now Aldis is celebrating an anniversary of his own, as that second title win took place on October 21, 2018. The champ is now 700 days into his run and shows no signs of slowing down. Nick Aldis is highly regarded as a top world champion because of his work in the ring, as well as his character work on the mic. He’s a throwback heel champion, much in the same vein as Ric Flair and Harley Race, both of whom were former NWA World Champions. Aldis has defended the title all over the world against a variety of opponents, including Tommy Dreamer, Christopher Daniels, Brian Cage, Flip Gordon and Jake Hager. 700 days. pic.twitter.com/T558f5Oaws — Nick Aldis (@RealNickAldis) September 19, 2020 His match against C..
The gold is back. One of the most surprising stories from late 2019 was the resurgence of the NWA. While the promotion did not reach any spectacular heights, it was a lot better than sitting around collecting dust and trying to remind people that they still exist. Their weekly Powerrr series gained a nice audience but it was shut down due to Coronavirus concerns. That put the brakes on the promotion but it is far from dead, and now we know where things are going next. Earlier this month, news broke that the NWA would be teaming with the United Wrestling Network for a series of weekly pay per view events. The shows would include NWA champions, such as NWA World Champion Nick Aldis, but there were not many details beyond that. Now we know a good bit more, including when Aldis will be putting the title on the line. According to PWInsider.com, the first edition of the Primetime Live series will take place on Tuesday September 15 and will feature an NWA World Title match with Aldis defend..
Ring of Honor Date: March 11, 2020 Location: UMBC Events Center, Baltimore, Maryland Commentators: Ian Riccaboni, Caprice Coleman Host: Quinn McKay We’re still in Baltimore and that means we should be getting close to the main event sooner or later. The show was built around the NWA invasion, meaning NWA World Champion Nick Aldis should be around. That could make for something interesting and that’s what this company is needing. Let’s get to it. We look at the NWA invasion as we move towards Aldis vs. Marty Scurll for the World Title. This ties into Rush vs. PCO for the World Title. Opening sequence. Rey Horus vs. Brody King Horus starts fast with the strikes but can’t get very far. Instead, King goes with the power to shove him down. They go outside and we take a rather early break. Back with Horus trying his own strikes, setting up a slingshot hurricanrana to the floor. King gets back in and blasts him with a clothesline, followed by the hard piledriver for two. Horus is right ba..
Ring of Honor Date: February 13, 2019 Location: Center Stage Theater, Atlanta, Georgia Commentators: Ian Riccaboni, Colt Cabana, Caprice Coleman We’re still down in Atlanta and this time around it’s an old school feeling with the NWA World Title on the line as champion Nick Aldis defending against PJ Black. Neither of them are exactly regulars around here, but that’s never stopped ROH when guest stars are involved. We should be getting ready for a big show around here, though it’s kind of hard to tell which one it is around here. Let’s get to it. Opening sequence. John Skyler, Corey Hollis and Josey Quinn (also not regulars) are in the ring and say they deserve the attention. No six man team can beat them, and here are some people to challenge that theory. John Skyler/Corey Hollis/Josey Quinn vs. Villain Enterprises Before the match, Marty Scurll says he used to be like the three of them because they’re not a bit jaded. He’s sure the three of them are going to make a huge impact, b..
Two for the price of All In. A large group of wrestling fans are now looking forward to September 1 and the All In event. The show, which will easily be the biggest independent wrestling show of all time, is going to be a major deal and one of the most important things wrestling has seen in a very long time. We get the idea of the show itself and the big layout, but at some point you need to have an actual card. One big match is known, but now we might be seeing a pretty big change to the match. The show has been a major success already. See what one of our columnists had to say about it! Today at the Ring of Honor: United show in London, England, Cody was interrupted by NWA World Champion Nick Aldis. The two will be facing off for Aldis’ title at All In, but Aldis wanted something a little bigger. Cody is challenging for the Ring of Honor World Title at next month’s Best in the World event and if Cody wins, Aldis wants the match to be title for title. Cody agreed and the new stipulat..
