NXT UK Date: July 15, 2021 Location: BT Studios, London, England Commentators: Andy Shepherd, Nigel McGuinness It’s a double title week as both the Heritage Cup and Women’s Title are on the line. That alone should be enough for a huge show, but it is also time to hype up the United Kingdom Title match for next week, which should be a candidate for match of the year. VIDEO: WWE’s Moving Tribute To Paul Orndorff

They do these well. One of the hardest things to do in wrestling, or anywhere for that matter, is say goodbye to someone. It can be even worse if you do not see it coming and unfortunately that was the case earlier this week with one of the best wrestlers of all time. Since the news only broke Monday afternoon, there was not much time to have any kind of a tribute prepared for that night. That has since changed. WWE has released a tribute to Paul Orndorff, who passed away earlier this week at age 71. The video features a brief biography of Orndorff, along with extensive footage of his in-ring career as well as clips of his interviews. While Orndorff never won a title during his time in WWE, he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2005. WWE did air an In Memory Of graphic for Orndorff on this week’s Monday Night Raw and NXT. It is quite the tribute. KB’s Review: Wonderful One

This is a strange week as I had a full column planned out but then some news broke earlier this week that meant things needed to be changed. Therefore, this week is going to something I don’t like having to write that often: a farewell to someone who I didn’t realize I respected as much as I did until not so very long ago. He earned every bit of the respect that he had and it has already been a bit difficult to accept that one of the best ever is actually gone. The week changed in a hurry on Monday, as Paul Orndorff passed away at 71 years old. The news was not the biggest surprise as a recent video had shown Orndorff in rather bad shape, but it was still a hard one to take. Orndorff is one of those guys who I grew up watching and it is going to be hard to imagine him gone. Today we’re going to take a bit of an overall look at his career, which will by no means be exhaustive. This comes amid rumors that Kross is on his way to the main roster so we could be in for some serious fireworks tonight. Other than that, it’s time to begin the Breakout Tournament. Let’s get to it. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I’ll be posting a new review here on Wrestlingrumors.net. It could be anything from modern WWE to old school to indies to anything in between. Note that I rate using letters instead of stars and I don’t rate matches under three minutes as really, how good or bad can something that short be? Wrestling World Says Goodbye To Paul Orndorff

Saying goodbye. The wrestling world is a fairly tight knit group and it hurts a lot when the industry loses one of its own. It can be made even harder for some when it is a wrestler that the fans have grown to respect over the years, which was the case with the latest big name to pass away. Now it is time for some people to say their last goodbyes, which have come in fast. Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorff passed away on Monday at the age of 71. Throughout his career, he wrestled just about everywhere, including for the WWF, where he headlined the first WrestleMania. He also spent a considerable amount of time in the NWA/WCW, meaning that he had quite the set of credentials on his resume. “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff Passes Away At Age 71

We have some sad news to report today, as WWE Hall of Famer “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff has passed away at the age of 71. From WWE.com: Orndorff was a standout running back at the University of Tampa and joined Mid-Southern Wrestling after a brief stint in the World Football League. Early rivalries with Jerry Lawler, Ted Dibiase and Jake “The Snake” Roberts gave way to NWA North American Heavyweight and National Heavyweight Championship reigns. Orndorff joined WWE in 1983 and was tabbed with the “Mr. Wonderful” nickname by his then-manager “Rowdy” Roddy Piper. With his awe-insipring in-ring style and umatched swagger, “Mr. Wonderful” turned his talent into a prototype for the modern-day Superstar. He made a memorable debut on January 23, 1984, with a win over Salvatore Bellomo at Madison Square Garden and launched right into the main event picture with matches against World Heavyweight Champion Hulk Hogan. There are a lot of candidates. It takes a lot of different things to make a wrestling show work, but ultimately it all comes down to the matches. Over the years, there have been countless wrestling matches to see, but only some of them are the kind that stand out above the rest. It takes something special to be a match that makes a difference, and now WWE is trying to figure out which did the most. During this week’s edition of the Bump, the three hosts discussed the most important match in WWE history. The three matches discussed were Hulk Hogan and Mr. T. vs. Paul Orndorff and Roddy Piper in the main event of WrestleMania 1, Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant in the main event of WrestleMania 3 and Hulk Hogan defeating the Iron Sheik to win his first WWE Title. Clash of the Champions XXII Date: January 13, 1993 Location: The Mecca, Milwaukee, Wisconsin Attendance: 4,000 Commentators: Jim Ross, Jesse Ventura The main event tonight sees Sting/Ron Simmons/Dustin Rhodes/Van Hammer vs. Vader/Barbarian/Barry Windham/Paul Orndorff (substitute for an injured Rick Rude) inside the Thunder Cage. We’re nearing the end of an era here in WCW as Bill Watts’ job is already on the brink and would be ended soon thereafter.
