Kofi Kingston Makes WWE History at NXT Deadline

Another one for the history books. This past Sunday at NXT Deadline, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods captured the NXT tag team championships by defeating Pretty Deadly. While this was a great moment for The New Day, this championship victory was also historic in a number of ways. As a result of their victory, Kingston broke the record for the most tag team championships in WWE history with 15. The previous record was held by Booker T, who had 14 championship reigns. Kofi Kingston has now officially broken the record for most tag-title reigns in @WWE history. Trent Seven Provides His Opinion On WWE Looking To Expand Into The UK

WWE Superstar Trent Seven spoke with The Mirror ahead of the UK Championship Tournament where he provided his opinion on the company’s expansion to the UK and Toni Storm reportedly being signed. Seven first spoke about wanting to earn a spot on an NXT TakeOver event. He aims to capture the NXT Tag Team Championship alongside former WWE UK Champion Tyler Bate: “Yeah absolutely. The competition for those spots is obviously at a standard – it’s undeniable – it’s at a standard that has never been seen before. It’s literally a who’s who of professional wrestling over the last few years at one of those shows and at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans, every single person delivered, well above and beyond what I think anyone ever expected. It was an incredible show. The goal has got to be that. If you’re here to take part, then that’s great, but realistically, this is the future of the industry, NXT is the future of professional wrestling, it is the future of the WWE, it’s where the stars are born and ..

Popular Independent Wrestler Is Now An Actual Doctor

One of the most popular female wrestlers on the independent circuit has now just become a doctor, according to Ringside News. Independent wrestler Britt Baker is no stranger to the WWE world. In fact, her boyfriend in Adam Cole is the current North American Champion within the yellow brand, as his partners hold the NXT Tag Team Championship. Baker, who is scheduled for The Bullet Club’s All In show later this year, has now achieved yet another milestone in her growing career. Baker has graduated from her school and is now a dentist. While she will remain an active wrestler for the foreseeable future, it is nice to know she always has a backup plan in case she ever had to retire from in-ring competition. Check out what she had to say about graduating on Twitter: So thankful for this guy for being my best friend, my love, and my rock throughout these last months of dental school. I can only hope to make him half as proud as he makes me. ?? @adamcolepro pic.twitter.com/SxUTLwYNSx — Br..

Adam Cole Talks His Friendship With Kyle O'Reilly, Bobby Fish & Roderick Strong, And Goes Over His Eventful NXT TakeOver: NOLA

Its all about The Undisputed Era. To kick-start WrestleMania weekend for the WWE there was a Ladder match to open NXT TakeOver: New Orleans to crown the first-ever NXT North American Champion. At the end of the contest the sly Adam Cole pushed the ladder that Ricochet was standing atop on, crushing the dreams of the "The One And Only". Cole climbed to the top of the ladder and pulled down the championship as the thousands in attendance inside of the Smoothie King Center went ballistic for "The Panama City Playboy." Later on in the night Adam Cole had to help his faction-mate Kyle O'Reilly defend the NXT Tag Team Championships and in a shocking turn of events, Roderick Strong pledged his allegiance to The Undisputed Era by turning on his partner in the match Pete Dunne, and handing over the NXT Tag Titles on a silver plater to Kyle O'Reilly and Adam Cole. Adam Cole was recently interviewed by Jim Varsallone of the Miami Herald where he discussed the chemistry that all involv..

NXT Tag Team Championship Match Announced

<p>WWE has announced that Heavy Machinery will receive a shot at The Authors of Pain for the NXT Championships on the July 12th episode of NXT. Here is the preview they posted for the match:</p><p><em><strong>NXT Tag Team Champions The Authors of Pain to defend against Heavy Machinery on July 12</strong></em></p><p><em>The Authors of Pain have built their NXT Tag Team Title Championship upon a foundation of brute force and physical dominance. However, against Heavy Machinery — AOP’s newly confirmed challengers for the July 12 episode of NXT — Ellering’s menacing monsters, for once, find themselves against opponents who can more than match their immensity.</em></p><p><em>For Tucker Knight & Otis Dozovic, the battle cry of “steaks and weights” isn’t just playful banter; it’s a way of life. The numbers tell the <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/story/" title="story">story</a></strong>: 320-pound Knight boasts a 365-pound bench press and 500-pound squats and deadlifts, while 330-pound Dozovic lays claim to a 475-pound bench press, a 610-pound squat and a 710-pound deadlift. Beneath the muscle and outsized personalities are two elite grapplers who torched collegiate competition before turning to NXT, where their success has been just as great.</em></p><p><em>Not that any of those <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/tag/facts/" title="facts">facts</a></strong> will intimidate The Authors of Pain. <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/akam" title="Akam">Akam</a></strong> & Rezar are 300-pounders, and they have MMA and world-class wrestling backgrounds, too. Their WWE Hall of Fame manager appears to have his misgivings about the burly challengers, even if he won’t admit it, but AOP only has one thing in mind: Adding Knight & Dozovic to The Book of Dominance.</em></p><p><em>Which super-heavyweight tandem will prevail? Don’t miss this huge NXT Tag Team Championship battle when it takes center stage Wednesday, July 12, on NXT, streaming exclusively on the award-winning WWE Network at 8/7 C.</em></p>

WWE NXT TakeOver: Chicago Live Results – May 20 2017

<p>Welcome to NXT TakeOver: Chicago!</p><p>For the past several months, the general feeling has been that NXT had lost a little something with so many talents leaving and few stars being made in their wake. Last months NXT TakeOver: Orlando was a very good show but definitely a transitional one. Tonight in Chicago however, all the places have fallen in place and NXT is set to have its best show of the year.</p><p>NXT Champion, Bobby Roode, has reigned supreme since defeating Shinsuke Nakamura. There were a number of viable contender’s to Roode’s title, from Kassius Ohno and Roderick Strong, to Drew McIntyre and Eric Young. However it was the returning Hideo Itami who staked his claim as next-in-line. Itami has had a rough tenure in NXT thus far, having been injured for the majority of that time, but tonight looks set to be his crowning. Roode has been a great Champion so far but the time feels right for Hideo to finally assert himself as the man in NXT.</p><p>Asuka is still undefeated! The Empress has been undefeated since her debut in NXT, and this is an amazing fact that WWE doesn’t play-up enough. Asuka has had a personality change as of late and she’s so much fun to watch. Tonight’s match was originally a Fatal 4-Way with Ember Moon, Nikki Cross, and Ruby Riot, however Moon injured her arm and was forced out of the match. So we’re set for a Triple Threat match for the NXT Women’s Championship and Asuka’s streak is once again on the line. This should be a great match but I would like to see Asuka retain again. Nikki Cross and Ruby Riot are more focused on killing each other, than they are the title, so I think it would make sense for Asuka to retain and look towards a new challenge. Maybe Asuka will face Ember Moon again, or maybe, and more exciting if you ask me, she will be challenged by NXT’s newest signee: Io Shirai. This Japanese phenomenon has wrestled for Lucha Underground and she would make for an amazing opponent for Asuka; imagine Asuka’s face when a rising talent from Japan comes to challenge her as she did several years ago, the story writes itself.</p><p>Next up we have the NXT Tag Team Championship match between D.I.Y and The Author’s of Pain. These two teams have been doing battles for months and tonight is set to be an end-cap on their rivalry, as they square-off in the first-ever NXT tag team ladder match! As is customary for D.I.Y, this match is expected to be an off-the-charts affair that blows the roof off of the All-State Arena in Chicago. We had a scare over the past 24 hours as Tommaso Ciampa was injured at a live event, however he has been cleared to compete and will look to win back the NXT Tag Team Championships with his partner, Johnny Gargano!</p><p>Another match on tonight’s card see’s the United Kingdom Championship be defended, as Pete Dunne challenges <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/tyler-bate" title="Tyler Bate">Tyler Bate</a></strong>. This match comes hot-off the heels of the first episode of the WWE UK show, in which Dunne defeated Trent Seven to become number one contender, and Bate overcame <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/mark-andrews" title="Mark Andrews">Mark Andrews</a></strong> in an insane match. Dunne and Bate were the two finalists of the United Kingdom Tournament, which saw Bate crowned as the first-ever UK Champion, and tonight we get the rematch. This match has all the makings of an instant-classic.</p><p>Elsewhere on the card tonight, Roderick Strong takes-on Eric Young in a bid to destroy Sanity once and for all. Strong has had a renaissance since WWE aired the 2-part series looking at his difficult life. Can he do what <strong><a href="http://www.ringsidenews.com/wrestler/tye-dillinger" title="Tye Dillinger">Tye Dillinger</a></strong> never could, and finally take-out the head of the beast? I expect at least one more match to take place on tonight’s show, possible a women’s match, or Aleister Black.</p><p>NXT TakeOver: Chicago begins at 8 PM ET, with the half-hour pre-show beginning at 7:30 PM. Which match are you most excited for? Let us know in the comments, be sure to check out the awesome Ringside News app, and enjoy the show!</p>
