Across The Bow: AEW And WWE Stars Trade Barbs On Twitter

Interpromotional arguing. There are a lot of talented people throughout the wrestling world but not all of them work for the same promotions. While WWE still rules the wrestling landscape, the rise of AEW has opened the door for another major promotion. The two companies have done battle before and now they are doing it again, this time over a former WWE star. Athena, formerly known as Ember Moon during her time in WWE, made her AEW debut at Double Or Nothing and has set her sights on Jade Cargill and the TBS Title. This led to Cargill saying that Athena has changed her look since coming to AEW, referencing meetings that Athena said took place during her time in NXT where she was encouraged to dress more like Mandy Rose. Athena responded, saying that Cargill looked like Rose and Charlotte. WWE’s Alexa Bliss chimed in, saying she wasn’t sure who Cargill was in the first place. You ask me. You look rather “Mandy-ish”. I thought you weren’t trying to be sexy? ? got close to a REAL godde..

Triple Threat: Three New Stars Make AEW Debuts At Double Or Nothing

Some new names. AEW has had a lot of success during its existence and quite a bit of that has been due to their roster. The company has been able to keep things fresh by bringing in a variety of different wrestlers, many of whom you might have seen before. That was the case this weekend, as AEW brought in three new names, all ow whom you are probably familiar with in some way. There were three new debuts Sunday night at Double Or Nothing. First up, Stokely Hathaway, formerly known as Malcolm Bivens in NXT, debuted in the Jade Cargill vs. Anna Jay match, with Hathaway seemingly siding with Cargill. After the match was over, Athena, better known as Ember Moon in WWE, debuted and confronted Cargill. Later in the show, a segment showed Andrade El Idolo in an office. El Idolo introduced his new business associate, former Ring Of Honor World Champion Rush, who seemed to be part of the Andrade Family Office. Opinion: These debuts are the kind of things that you need to see happen every now ..

More On WWE “Dress Sexier” Meetings, Who Wrestlers Are Blaming

That’s going to be a no. One of the biggest stories from WWE over the last few years has been the amount of releases the company has made. The company has let go well over 100 wrestlers, which has left its roster in a very different state. There is still a lot of talent left, but now a group of the remaining wrestlers are unhappy with something WWE set up and did not accept it. Earlier this week, former WWE star Ember Moon revealed that WWE set up meetings for its women’s division on how to dress in a sexier way. According to Wrestlingnews.co, a fashion consultant named Melanie Pace was brought in to NXT in October 2021, as posted on her Instagram page. According to Fightful Select, several members of the roster blame John Laurinaitis for the meetings, but it is not clear if they were his idea or connected to him at all. In addition, while the term “dress sexier” or something similar was never used, it was said to be implied, with wrestlers being given pamphlets suggesting how to dre..

VIDEO: Ember Moon Reveals WWE Holding Meetings To Teach Women To “Dress Sexy”

That won’t go over well. Women’s wrestling in WWE has come a long, long way in recent years. After being treated as little more than a sideshow, women’s wrestling has become a featured part of WWE television and has even headlined WrestleMania. That is a very long way off from the days of eye candy, but it seems that WWE wanted things back to their old ways, at least somewhat, again. Former WWE star Ember Moon recently spoke to Chris Van Vliet and talked about her final few months in WWE before being released in November 2021. Moon said that her the time stated going badly when Shotzi was called up to the main roster, ending their team in NXT. Despite being told that there was something planned for her, nothing actually took place. She blamed the team being split up on backstage politics, as you have to know how to appeal to the right people, some of whom might not know the team was together in the first place. Moon was also told that she would be turning heel multiple times not nothi..

AEW In “Feeling Out Process” With Another Former WWE Star

There is some interest there. AEW has changed the wrestling landscape in a great way as there is now a new place for all kinds of wrestlers to go. Several former WWE stars have wound up in AEW, with some of them already being more successful. It can be interesting to see someone new show up and that might be the case again as AEW has been talking to someone else. According to Fightful Select, AEW and Athena, formerly known as Ember Moon, have had at least “light talks” about Athena being brought in to the company. The discussions are described as a “feeling out” process, though there is nothing to suggest that she will be brought in anytime soon. Athena was released from WWE on November 4, 2021 and has only wrestled twice since. Opinion: This is something I could see happening but it is by no means a sure thing. Athena seems happy with taking things slowly and maybe that does not mean jumping straight into AEW. The company already has a ton of female wrestlers and Athena would be in ..

WATCH: AEW’s Thunder Rosa Is Not Putting Up With Racist Fan Comments

That won’t go well. The fans are one of the most important parts of any wrestling show. While the wrestlers are the featured attraction, there is nowhere near as much energy without the fans around. Just look back at WWE’s shows in the Thunder Dome to see how much different things are without them. However, there are some lines that fans cannot cross, and that was done this weekend. Over the weekend at a Warrior Wrestling event outside of Chicago, AEW’s Thunder Rosa faced Athena (formerly known as Ember Moon in WWE). During the match, a fan reportedly shouted a racist statement to Athena, saying “tear her weave off”. Following the match, Rosa got on the microphone and told the fans to have some respect for the women who are putting their lives in danger during the matches. Rosa went on to say that fans who are disrespectful to the wrestlers in that way have no right to be at a show. Racist towards Athena (Ember Moon). A comment about weave. — thrillking722 (@thrillking722) February ..

You Might Be Seeing Some Released WWE Names Again Soon

See you soon. Over the last year and a half, WWE has released a ton of wrestlers from the company. That is the kind of change that you do not see happen very often in wrestling and unfortunately it cost a lot of people their jobs. While it certainly changes how WWE works, it also changes how other promotions work as well. Now, some of those promotions are able to pick up more than a few new wrestlers as a result. On November 2, 2021, WWE released several wrestlers from their contracts. These wrestlers were on 90 day no compete clauses, which have now expired as of February 2. Therefore, the following names are now free agents and can sign wherever they like, appearing immediately: Keith Lee Karrion Kross Mia Yim Ember Moon Davey Boy Smith Jr. Oney Lorcan Gran Metalik Lince Dorado Eva Marie Nia Jax There is no word on where these wrestlers will appear. Several NXT wrestlers were released on the same day, but their 30 day no compete clauses expired in December. Opinion: This is the k..

NXT Date: September 7, 2021 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Vic Joseph, Beth Phoenix, Wade Barrett This is how it ends. We’re wrapping up the original run of NXT this week as everything changes with the next show. I’m a mixture of scared, excited and scared excited as the idea of Monday Night NXT scares me to death, but NXT does need some changes. There are a pair of title matches tonight to finish things off. Let’s get to it. Ember Moon vs. Kay Lee Ray Feeling out process to start with Moon snapping off an armdrag. Back up and Ray hits a quick faceplant for two before taking Moon into the corner. Ray cranks on the arm and pulls Moon down into a cross armbreaker. That’s reversed in a hurry and Moon is back up with a middle rope Codebreaker for two. The Crossface has Ray in more trouble and Moon rolls it into the middle to make it worse. Ray slips out so Moon pulls her into a triangle choke but gets rolled into the corner to break it up. Back from a..

Update On Why Ember Moon Missed Last Week’s NXT

That’s a valid reason. Despite there being so many wrestlers on the WWE roster, it can be rather telling when someone goes missing. That can be the case for a lot of reasons and some of them are more serious than others. Sometimes someone is going to have a physical issue of some sort, which is the case again now with a missing member of the NXT roster. Last week, NXT’s Ember Moon was pulled from her scheduled match on the day of the show with no explanation. According to Fightful Select, Moon was recovering from a dental procedure and was not medically cleared to compete. Moon offered to wrestle the match anyway but WWE would not allow her to do so. There is no word on when Moon will return to the ring. Dakota Kai took her place against Sarray and went on to win the match. Moon is going to be fine. Medical Issues Force Star Off Of This Week’s NXT, Card Changed

That could be anything. There are all kinds of medical issues for wrestlers, ranging from injuries to run of the mill things that can happen to anyone at any given point. That has been even more enhanced in recent months due to the Coronavirus pandemic. You never know when someone is going to be missing time due to one thing or another and that seems to be the case again this week. Ember Moon was scheduled to face Sarray in a match on this week’s edition of NXT. However, the show opened with an announcement that Moon was unable to compete due to not being cleared by the medical staff. There is no word on what is wrong with Moon or how much time she will be missing. Dakota Kai took Moon’s place in the match and went on to defeat Sarray. Moon is a former NXT Women’s Champion who debuted in NXT in 2015. She would go on to feud with a variety of opponents over the years before winning the vacant NXT Women’s Title at Takeover: WarGames in 2017. Moon would be promoted to the main roster on..

NXT Live Coverage And Results – August 10, 2021

NXT Date: August 10, 2021 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Nigel McGuinness, Vic Joseph NXT has been the hot topic in wrestling as of late and that very well may be the case again tonight. There are several major changes rumored, but I don’t think we’re going to be seeing them right away. There is a chance something could be shaken up, but I would bet on it being either more gradual or at least after Takeover. Let’s get to it. Ember Moon has not been medically cleared tonight so we have a replacement for her scheduled match against Sarray. Sarray vs. Dakota Kai Kai promises to make an example out of Sarray on her way to Takeover. They trade arm cranks to start with Sarray getting the better of things. Kai gets taken to the mat for a quickly broken Muta Lock so she fires off some kicks to Sarray’s back to take over. A suplex gives Kai two but she gets pulled into some kind of really cranked half crab. The slow crawl to the rope gets Kai out of troubl..

In Memory Of Paul Orndorff. We open with a recap of the Great American Bash and the setup of the title match. Dakota Kai vs. Ember Moon Raquel Gonzalez is here with Kai, who grinds away with a headlock to start. A running shoulder drops Moon as well but she armdrags Kai into an armbar. Kai pops up with a kick to the face but Moon sends her outside for a ram into the barricade. That earns him a kick from the apron as we take a break. Back with Kai throwing her down again, only to have Moon nip up for an enziguri. A springboard spinning crossbody gives..

NXT Live Coverage And Results – June 29, 2021

NXT Date: June 29, 2021 Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida Commentators: Vic Joseph, Wade Barrett It’s the go home show for the Great American Bash and a lot of the card is either set or all but set. They still have a few hours to get the rest of it ready and that should work out well, though I’m not sure how much they are going to put on the show. Samoa Joe still has people to choke out too so let’s get to it. Opening recap. Get Well Soon: NXT Superstar Confirms Injury

That could change things up. Injuries are one of the few constants in the world of wrestling. At some point, every wrestler is going to get hurt in one way or another and it becomes a guess as to how long it is going to be before they are back in the ring. That seems to be the case with a current NXT star, though right now there are more questions than answers. During this week’s edition of NXT, Ember Moon competed in a match against Dakota Kai, with Raquel Gonzalez in Kai’s corner. However, Moon’s regular partner Shotzi Blackheart was not in Moon’s corner with no explanation. Later in the night, a fan tweeted a message to Blackheart, asking if she was injured. Blackheart said that she was, but did not add any other details. There is no word on what is wrong with Blackheart or how long she will be out of action. Yup https://t.co/FOllacCqpc — Shotzi Blackheart (@ShotziWWE) June 9, 2021 Blackheart is quite the talent. Check out what she can do when she is healthy: [This post contain..

Two More Matches Confirmed For NXT Takeover: In Your House

Doubling up. We are less than two weeks away from Takeover: In Your House and that means it is time to start getting the card built up in a hurry. This is the kind of thing that NXT can do rather well, as they know how to set up a card without much notice. It helps when the shows are usually only about five matches long, so getting in two matches at once can be a big step. That was the case this week, twice. WWE has announced two more matches for Takeover: In Your House. The first new match confirmed for the show is Mercedes Martinez vs. Xia Li in a grudge match. This comes after Li marked Martinez as her next target last month. Martinez them challenged Li to a match, saying that she has been a marked woman for her entire career. If she does not wrestle before Takeover, this will be Li’s first match since March 31. Next up is an NXT Women’s Title match as Ember Moon will challenge Raquel Gonzalez. Moon issued the challenge during this week’s television show and will face Gonzalez’s p..

Titles mean a lot down in NXT as they rarely change hands. If you are a former NXT Champion, odds are you are going to be a big deal on the main roster. One such big deal might not be getting another chance though. During this week’s edition of WWE Backstage, former NXT Women’s Champion Ember Moon discussed her torn Achilles injury. Several More Names Announced For Royal Rumble Match

Another bunch for the pile. Last year, WWE debuted a match that was both long awaited and long overdue: the women’s Royal Rumble match. Just like the men’s version, thirty women joined into the match and competed for a title shot at the upcoming WrestleMania. The first event was won by Asuka and the second edition has been announced. Now we just need to fill in the lineup. This week on Monday Night Raw, a good chunk of the roster for the match was filled as seven names were confirmed to be competing. During a six woman tag, it was announced that Bayley, Sasha Banks, Ember Moon, Ruby Riott, Sarah Logan and Liv Morgan were all going to be taking part in the match. On the same show, Natalya was confirmed for the match as well. These seven join Carmella, who will be entering the match in the #30 spot. Several of the women were very excited. Check out what three of them had to say: [This post contains video, click to play] Opinion: None of these are exactly shocking as at the moment, t..
